The male waitress at the front ruined my night. We came in around 8:30 on a Sunday, I waited by the front door for a table and he saw me but didn't acknowledge at all. Then another family came in and he welcomed them immediately and purposefully skipped me IN LINE and put them on the list. If this is not micro-aggression I don't know what it is. He also purposefully got my name wrong after I spelled it to him repeatedly, it was three letters and I knew what he was trying to do. I was mad at myself for being quiet and didn't call him out right away for his behaviors. I do not need more racism in my life and this is just not right. AMAZING find in Moab. We were vacationing in Page, AZ and Moab... and this was a great find. The food in Page was a little disappointing. But this place... was super good. The service was excellent; food came out really fast; portions, presentation and pricing was great; and most off all the taste was delicious. Very authentic in my opinion and tasted so fresh. We ordered so much! We started with a trio platter for an appetizer with the hummus, grape leaves and the pickles/olives. We also got the hummus fattah with chicken which was excellent. I ordered the lamb chops and the portion size was more than filling for the price. Cooked perfectly! My husband got the gyro plate which he loved. My kids split the penne pasta with meatball off of the kids menu. We also got the rice pudding and the baklava for dessert and well neither was a disappointment. They were so delicious. This was our first stop in MOAB. the lunch special was priced at $12-14 and I was thinking oh wow this is a great price. The beef was especially tender and flavorful. Probably the best beef gyro I've had to date. Didn't know it could taste this good and be SO TENDER. What a wonderful dinner we had at Sultan! I'm a big fan of Mediterranean cuisine, and Lebanese particularly. This place totally met my expectations, especially given that we're in Moab, not exactly the culinary center of the country. I can't say it was the best Lebanese food I have ever eaten, but it was definitely very high level quality. All the flavors were there, I really loved it, I was really satisfied and happy. The zaatar bread was a bit soft, but delicious, even my picky daughter loved it. The babaganoush was delicious, the gyro plate fantastic and the stuffed eggplant amazing, albeit a bit heavy. The baklava was delicious too, served warm with a ball of vanilla ice cream, fantastic! The lowlight was the kid's pasta, it was really overcooked. The meatball on the basta though was very good. Food was absolutely perfect - Chicken Shawarma was some of the best we have ever enjoyed. My partner had the platter with fries and a salad. I had the sandwich with rice. For the small cost differential the platter is the way to go. The fries were seasoned well and were hot and crispy. The garlic mayo was delectable. Great way to get a good portion of protein and vegetables. You can't beat the price/quantity/ quality of the lunch bowl here ( on special from weekdays 11:30 to 4pm ) you get a little bit of everything - falafel ( good ) salad w tomato's/onions, quinoa, grape leaves, pita , beets. I chose to pay extra to add chicken & feta. I was pleasantly surprised sumac was sprinkled generously on the hummus, usually places don't care to. I am grateful the owner still finds that this important touch, to me it's a sign they care about their food. I can't speak highly enough of Sultan. My husband and I were in Moab this weekend for 4 days and the food was so good at Sultan that after going for dinner, we returned the next day for lunch. The shakshuka was the best I've ever had, I think I giggled when I took my first bite, it was that good (but it's only available at lunch). The signature Sultan kebab was so good (packed with flavor, tender) that after having the kebab plate for dinner, we ordered it as a sandwich the next day for lunch. Like most food in Moab, it got the job done, but that's about it. * the dolmas (grape leaves) were home made, which was a plus, but they were really soggy. I know how to make dolmas, and IMO, they overcooked them, and they were probably several days old. * The hummus was too runny, but otherwise tasted fine. * The shrimp caserole dish was good, but needed more flavor. The sauce was kind of bland, and was covered in gloopy, bland mozzerella cheese. I'd rather deeper flavor in the sauce, and something other than melted gloopy cheese - feta, or myzithra, or anything that keeps its shape and has a bite when baked would be better. * The za'atar bread was burned, and just tasted dusty - the seasonings on top didn't add much to the flavor. We also had a pretty rude waitress, but whatever, people have an off night sometimes, so that doesn't factor into my review. read more

This is the only middle eastern restaurant in Moab so your pickings for anything ethnic is limited. This place is IT! We are from California and have eaten here both times we've stopped in Moab for the night. In fact, this last time we stopped in Moab, we drove 30 minutes out of our way SPECIFICALLY for this restaurant. We've had: - za'atar bread - roasted veggies - pesto pasta - shrimp casserole - iced tea - rice pudding Everything was amazing, incredibly flavorful, and cooked well. Service is great, very responsive and personable. Prices are awesome considering how much food you're getting and how scrumptious it is. Made folks a little nuts when parking. Inside the place had its tables spaced out a bit, and looked like there was some sort of boutique in the corner. The lanterns were fun. Service was prompt. We had the hummus and "angry cauliflower" appetizer. Loved the cauliflower, the hummus was ok. I also ordered hot tea which came with a silver and embroidered tea set. Not your usual bags of black tea! My daughter's chicken kebab was great. I got a "lunch bowl" which included Falafel, quinoa, hummus, grape leaves, red beets, house salad plus I added avocado and salmon. Loved it. Prices very reasonable.
