When we first walked up to the Sultan, we were a little skeptical. It was all closed up and had a drained pool attached (??) but inside it was great. The windows are all closed up because of how strong the sun shins in. The staff was really friendly and our waitress gave us some advice about what to pick. The reason I'm giving 4 stars was the salad was not good. The lettuce was so welted and just wasn't good overall. Everything else - AMAZING. This was a very pleasant surprise in the town of Moab. The place is very nicely decorated, great atmosphere with Arabic music . Felt an authentic Arabic restaurant. The service was amazing! Our waiter was a young nice guy. He was great and fast, he came to check up on us a few times and made sure we were happy with everything. The food was AMAZING! Very tasty. Authentic in flavor. The hummus was so tasty. We tried Shia kebab, beef kebab, chicken kebab, falafel, pita bread and the kids pasta with meat ball which was tasty. We enjoyed it all. If I had just come here for the appetizers and left, this wouldve been a five star review. I started with the fresh traditional za'atar bread and fried cauliflower. Both of those were delicious and perfect. The bread was fresh and covered in delicious unique spices and the cauliflower was perfectly lightly fried with great flavor and nice sauces on it. Unfortunately, my beef shish entree was really dry. I actually got extra salad dressing and dipped my steak pieces in there because it was so dry. My mom ordered the sautéed shrimp appetizer for her meal and the shrimp were shriveled up and dry and tough, extremely over cooked. They were inedible so she only ate one. We told the waitress and all she did was apologize and walked away, but did not do anything to remedy it. Between my dry beef and those horrible shrimp, it seemed like the chef just liked to overcook things. I came back a few days later for lunch and got the za'atar bread and the chicken lunch special. The lunch specials are a pretty decent value and the chicken was in some sauce so it wasn't dry like my beef was a few days before. Unfortunately this time, the za'atar bread did not taste fresh like last time, it was as if they decided to just microwave some leftover bread they made from the night before. You could tell because this time all the seasoning on top was caked on and hard and crusty, as opposed to nice sprinkled on like my previous meal. Overall, it just seems like they could never get everything right and things are pretty hit or miss. All the food in Moab is overrated and not spectacular though, so this is just par for the course here. read more

This is a must restaurant. The atmosphere is just okay but the food and service were fantastic. When you arrive, you are pleasantly greeted. After seated, you are immediately waited on. We had been hiking around, so very hungry. We ordered the choice of 3 appetizers with Hummus, pita, tzatziki and olives. It came immediately and wow it was good. For the entree we ordered the beet salad with quinoa and we gobbled that down because it was so good. For dessert, we had the homemade baklava. That was the best I have ever had. Not many customers when we were there for dinner, yet we had to call the waiter several times (i.e., to take our order, give us the check). Also, the manager needs to wear his mask as the sign on the door does indicate mask required. The baba ganoush was so good!! Smokey. Pita bread served with it was warm and soft. My hubby ordered the Lamb Burger. He loved it!! He said it was very juicy, tender, and perfectly seasoned. I ordered the Chicken Shish. It was grilled. There were some portions of the chicken that were burnt to a crisp and dry (thus three stars instead of four); however, the other portions were grilled and cooked perfectly. At the end of October 2020, I took a road trip through the southern half of Utah. On Thursday, October 29th, I drove from Bryce Canyon to Moab, a lovely 5 1/2 drive, arriving at the Inca Inn Motel at 7:30pm. I was too tired to go searching for food and stopped here for dinner (I love Middle Eastern food, especially Armenian and Persian). I ordered The Sultan (Lamb & Beef Lulah Kabobs), and they were overcooked, dried out and pretty tough. Strange was the 2 thin strips of lavash bread that came with the dinner. What on earth did they think people can wrap with them? The basmati rice wasn't cooked very well as the rice broke apart easily. I know they are the only Mediterranean restaurant in Moab, but you should still provide excellent quality food. read more

The gyro sandwich is awesome! After eating mostly fast food during our journey here, this was a nice change of taste. Also, for a tourist town, the quality was excellent, even for the menu price of $13 (includes fries). The bread on the gyro was really good. It was nice and fluffy, but also had a slight crisp from the toasted parts. The gyro meat was great too as you would expect. The cuts were thicker than other places I've been to which helps with the juiciness. The only downside to the dish was that the French fries were a little limp and soggy, but I think it's because we had our order to-go (because of Covid) and it's been sitting in the box during our short drive to the hotel. The exterior of the building looks a bit shady, almost like a smoke shop or adult video store. Don't let the non-glamorous looks stray you away from a good gyro sandwich! Food was absolutely perfect - Chicken Shawarma was some of the best we have ever enjoyed. My partner had the platter with fries and a salad. I had the sandwich with rice. For the small cost differential the platter is the way to go. The fries were seasoned well and were hot and crispy. The garlic mayo was delectable. I was so excited to try this place after seeing all the great reviews. The ambiance is fine - somewhere between a strip mall and a fancier location. Service was also decent- no long waits and our orders came correctly and were phased well. The food is where the problems are. We ordered the falafel salad, spicy hummus, a chicken shawarma platter and a chicken shawarma sandwich. The falafel salad looked awful. I was expecting more of a chopped salad with falafel. I know they said it had a green tahini sauce but this looks green like a 1970s bathtub and not green like food should be. The tomato pieces were fine but the romaine pieces were huge and the red onion slices were long. The falafel was mushy, dense, too salty and were not tasty. The rice, unlike the salad, looked like it would have flavor. Unfortunately it was bland yellow rice. Chicken shawarma was just grilled chicken. No spices and no grilling happened. Spicy hummus was okay and was more similar in quality to what you get at the grocery store, although the plating was nice. Pita bread was easily the best thing here. It is soft and tasty. read more

AMAZING find in Moab. We were vacationing in Page, AZ and Moab... and this was a great find. The food in Page was a little disappointing. But this place... was super good. You can't beat the price/quantity/ quality of the lunch bowl here ( on special from weekdays 11:30 to 4pm ) you get a little bit of everything - falafel ( good ) salad w tomato's/onions, quinoa, grape leaves, pita , beets. I chose to pay extra to add chicken & feta. I was pleasantly surprised sumac was sprinkled generously on the hummus, usually places don't care to. I am grateful the owner still finds that this important touch, to me it's a sign they care about their food. Full disclosure/ to set expectations the beets did seem like they had been canned, but I'd take canned beets over none at all. The babaganoush seemed more like moutabal, I actually like moutabal more if it's house made , but this one didn't seem to be.
