I needed to get my car e-checked so I could renew my registration and since the engine light came on, I absolutely had to have it serviced prior to getting the E check done. So yelp recommended Lakewood Firestone tire pros and I decided to accept that recommendation. I dropped my car off and unfortunately due to a power outage. They were unable to get to it but that's just life in Lake with these days. They called me the next morning with a quote and had the card done by the end of the day. It was reasonable and about what I expected to pay and I was grateful that they got it done so quickly cause to be honest I waited a little too long to get my E check done and I was under the gun. I think I found my new mechanic in Lakewood.

I did NOT need a new tire and to fix my issue was $27. That was 2 weeks ago. This week I had a similar problem...a different tire was completely flat. Friends pumped my tire enough that I was able to get to Van's and again, they patched/fixed my tire:$27. They couldn't estimate how long it would take for them to get to my vehicle and offered to take me home and pick me up when it was ready. THAT my friends is service. Now before anyone suggests otherwise...in 50 years of driving I ever had a flat tire . When I signed the papers for both my financing and insurance I opted out for roadside assistance and extended warranty to save a few $$$. Just go to Van's!

What I couldn't wrap my head around was...get there early and then what? So for my fellow Yelpers with slight anxiety, here's how it went: I got off work at 6am, they open at 9am. I opted to dilly dally a little longer at work because that just felt TOO early. Got there around 7:30 am, after a failed Wendy's breakfast run, to find that there were already 8 people there. There is a canopy and some chairs and a picnic bench off to the side of the building. The parking lot is somewhat chaotic and packed, but I did manage to find a spot without too big an issue. Others parked next door. Fortunately , there was a customer there who became the line ambassador. He kept most everyone in order. The employees started trickling in around 8:30a. Everyone lined up to get in the front door and on the list, just before 9. There was a small argument between the first 4 or so people about who was first....not my business. They quickly got everyone on the list, just provide your car color, make, model, year, and if you know what the issue is. I kept my keys until they came to get them. You can wait inside or outside. There is a single bathroom inside. Someone came around to get my keys at maybe 9:05a, they grabbed me to show me the issue under my car around 9:30. I was on my way home by 10:15a. The price was about $250 cheaper than what Mr. Tire quoted me. The workers I spoke with were all friendly and answered my questions. Checkout was smooth. I was advised to take a picture of my receipt because they are not computerized but they do offer a warranty. My car is so quiet now. I came home and my dog didn't even meet me at the door since he couldn't hear me coming! Would definitely use them again. Especially now that I know what to expect from the line situation.

When I balked, he then said it would be only $165 to "repair" the part. Knowing nothing about cars, I went along with the cheaper repair, but had my doubts. How do you repair a part that needs to be replaced?? I'll probably go elsewhere next time.
