We ordered the special event drink called Rio and a cherry blossom matcha latte. Both were good but make sure to adjust the sweetness if you're not a sugary person. The staff greeted us and explained the event's offerings. There was a menu with lots of choices. We got to choose 3 flavors for our flights. I chose Lavender Lemonade, Gamer Boy and Sparkling Mango. All three were delicious and had either boba or lychee added. I could not choose my favorite. For a snack I chose "straight fries " (as opposed to curly) with garlic Parmesan. Hot, fresh and crispy. Sum Tea House is a women-owned boba tea shop with an amazing anime theme. If you are an anime fan and love milk tea - this is your heaven. We've come here quite often for their fresh taro milk tea. It's very fresh and delicious because the owner makes the taro paste and the milk base herself. Sometime, I got Jasmine milk tea when they ran out of the taro - and I liked it as well. I tried their caramel flan before and it was good. They also had other desserts or snacks and banh mi on the weekend, but I haven't tried those items yet. Staffs here are very nice and welcoming. The staff here is very sweet! My boyfriend and I went a couple days ago and it was a great experience. We have been trying some other boba spots around STL and this one is better than some others we tried. I got the oolong milk tea with 100% sweetness and less ice and it was pretty good, definitely sweet. My boyfriend got the Thai tea with boba, 25% sweetness, and less ice and he liked it! The girl I chatted with was so easy to talk to and helped me choose my tea from a special limited time menu, which was demon slayer themed after the animes newest season! The best you'll find is in U City, and prior to this place, they were all meh at best. I used the other spots to curb my craving, but nothing ever hit the spot. BUT THIS PLACE?!? This is it. This is the best boba in the city. Hands down. And I've had almost every spot you can try. I literally cannot wait to try something else. I had the strawberry matcha - the strawberry is literal purée, so freaking fresh. And I can tell they use ceremony grade matcha because it wasn't gritty at all. For the price, 1000000% worth it. My brother said he walked in the other day and they were literally chopping fresh taro root. WHAT. The ingredients are so fresh and top notch. And they have the best alternative milk options (looking at you creamy oat milk). Their drinks are so big for what they give you, a lot of places over ice things to make money, not here. 100/10 on a bad day, I'm sure. You HAVE to try this place. read more

I'm still learning about boba tea and all the delicious ways to drink it, so I inquired about the sum tea. It was described as a citrus like tea with fresh fruit in it. I went with the 25% with mango jelly. while I was waiting, I got to sample a new tea they're trying to perfect, which was a kumquat flavor. We went to Sum Tea House on a Friday afternoon to check out the new boba shop in town! The store had good interior design and was very cute. The staff were very enthusiastic and friendly, and we definitely felt very welcome when we entered. Our order included two black milk teas with boba (50% and 100% sugar), a Thai milk tea (no ice) with boba, and a jasmine milk tea (no sugar and no ice). The Thai milk tea was very smooth and sweetened well. The black milk tea was just the right sweetness if you like sweet things. The tapioca pearls were very fresh and perfectly chewy and soft! I thoroughly enjoyed my jasmine milk tea which was very nicely floral and just the right amount of milk. I was very impressed that they try to use fresh ingredients in everything they make. I only found this place because the other Boba shop was closed. I feel like there are so many different Boba places on this one Road that I just had to try it. So I went in. Really great boba tea, on par with Cube Tea Studio. You can taste the quality of the ingredients! Great atmosphere in the shop, it's really cute and clean and the workers are friendly. Expect a bit of a wait for food, maybe order ahead of time online. But it's good and fresh! Can't wait to try more of the french fry flavors. I will say I feel like the food like the chicken and fries is a bit overpriced, but seeing as they're the only boba tea shop in town with snack foods like this I guess they can upcharge a bit. Nice ambiance and friendly baristas! TLDR: The drinks are extremely sweet, so I would recommend 25% sugar or 0% for all drinks. Their 50% taste like 100% sugar at other places. Jasmine tea - 4/5, the tea is overbrewed since the tannins made it have a bitter after taste. I suppose this is common at boba places and once it's mixed with milk, you don't taste it as much. Jasmine milk tea - 5/5 - got it with pudding and 50% sugar. Still a bit sweet so would go down to 25% next time. Very good otherwise! Passion fruit milk tea - 1/5 - very unpleasant, thick texture from passion fruit syrup. Also sickening sweet and artificial tasting even at 50% sugar. Had to toss it out :( read more
