I enjoyed that the grills had the fan all around the grills so that it pulls the smoke automatically. I liked how you didn't have to worry about smelling like bbq after you left the restaurant so that is a plus! Our group ordered the premium butcher feast ($155) and ordered a couple of appetizers and sides on the HH menu. All of that and it was plenty of food to feed all of us. I'm giving it one star for the service. The service was good. We got the Korean barbecue for two, $98.00 if you think that's Wagyu, you've never had Wagyu. That was some chews fatty meat, honestly all four meats that came with our meal were chewy and a ton of fat. Wagyu should melt in your mouth. All the little side dishes were very good. And we had a Korean rice cake in a cheesy sauce that was good as well. But the bottom line is for $100 that meat is a poor quality. We tried the premium butcher feast option and it gave us some flexibility in what kinds of meat we wanted. My personal favorites is the wagyu steak and the zabuton. Super tender and soft. Some of the other meats I thought were a bit too chewy or fatty. The feast is definitely more than enough for two people. It includes side dishes, salad, tofu soup and steamed egg. The interior is very spacious, clean and modern. They did an impressive job with the menu as everything looks appetizing. I'd like to come back to try the entree dishes. This restaurant even serves a soup which was really good, and egg soufflé, along with all the standard sides! This place is not huge and they have large tables which can be divided so a couple of parties share the table, which works out and it's nice! The only thing I've noticed with these restaurants is that the servers have a hard time with knowing about their drinks menus, both alcoholic and nonalcoholic. Came in to pick up a to go order for my wife. It was pretty slow and the server was only dealing with 2 tables. I came in I noticed that the server and the cook glanced over at me and pretty much pretend like they don't see me. Maybe because I am a darker skin toned they didn't want to serve me. I sat for 15 minutes in the waiting area which is very visible to the staff. Then finally the waitress annoyingly asked me what I needed. The tone of her voice set me off so I asked her why she made me wait so long for a pick up order. She then made a convenient excuse that she didn't see me even though I'm clearly visible. And kept making poor excuses for the bad treatment. It's really sad because my wife is a regular customer and we always get to go orders. But it was the first time I walked in to pick up the order. Food quality here was just okay; the addition of mushrooms was actually kinda odd to me. The meat didn't have too much flavor in it, but portions were quite big. Either 3 beef or pork options or a combo of beef and pork along with some veggies for grilling, soup, salad, and ban chan. Two of us got a 2 beef 1 pork option and the other got 2 pork 1 beef option. We went with non marinated options due to one of us having dietary restrictions. We enjoyed the ban chan while waiting for food. Service was a tad slow but they were all nice and kept checking on us. We were in time for happy hour so we got drinks and some sides for cheaper which helped, but the banchan is no good. The place is clean and modern. First time at Sumi and it was amazing. The restaurant was very clean and the aesthetic was minimal and welcoming. From when I walked in to when I walked out the service was top of the line and I felt very catered to. In lacking a Korean background the staff patiently walked me through the menu and gave great recommendations. Now to the food! I was by myself so I didn't do the Grill and opt to order entrees. It still was a lot of food for me by myself. For appetizer I got the Kimichi Takoyaki , main the Beef skillet bibimbap and the Tofu soup. There's a complimentary vanilla ice cream dessert at the end. For appetizer I got Kimchi Takoyaki. It was very delicious and Im sure it has some calamari in it. The crust was crispy but once you broke through it melted in your mouth. Close your eyes when you eat it. It told story. The Beef Skillet Bibimbap was well assembled and all the flavors played together well. Make sure to add the sides. The kimchi might be the best Kimchi I've had in the state of Washington. My favorite and newest Korean dish was the Tofu soup. I usually stay clear from ToFu but this soup was something else. It had beef, tofu. Zucchini and so many other wonderful things. It was hot and truly touched the soul with a slight little spice to it. It's a comfort I'd love on a cold rainy day.
