Wish i could give 0 stars. This place was awful and ruined our night! The food was disgusting and the service was bad. My friends burger came out raw, my meal was cold, the drinks were watery and had no alcohol in them. To top it off, the cups were dirty and the whole experience felt grimy. This restaurant has been here quite a while and I have never walked away saying I have to come back soon for..... not once. I think it is the industrial feel to the whole place, very cold and uninviting and with all of the tanks holding lobsters etc the smell is a little bit to low tide for me. I have only eaten at the bar so here goes. After sitting at the bar a bartender who did not seem too happy I decided to sit at the far end of the bar away from everyone else, asked me" what I was drinking" ? I ordered a Saranac.my companion ordered a Bloody Mary spicy, no celery olives, and extra lemon to which the bartender replied " there is one in every crowd" I ordered platter of 4 oysters (Watch Hill) and 4 cherrystones. Oysters very small but briny and cold, cherrystones not completely released from the shell but tasty. Next course was the Fish Tacos very flaky moist fish with a crunchy salad (not soggy) and served (not greasy) very good. My companion ordered the Lobster pot stickers and noted that the filling had a grainy texture and the dough was quite thick. She also ordered the whole Belly clams AND I noticed that the portion was quite small and a few of the clams had burst , and the tartar sauce we had to ask for was just bland. We did not order dessert, the bartender asked us if we wanted anything else we said no and he placed the check on the bar went to the kitchen and never returned, causing us to find someone to pay our bill to. Tuesday night in July 2016: The food was good. The service was mixed. Sockeye Salmon, beans, spinach, raw oysters, house Pinot Noir were good though too chilled. Salmon was cooked correctly. I found fault with the server. After completing my meal I asked for a slice of Key Lime pie. That should be a trip to the refrigerator and back. It took fifteen minutes. The server was not busy. Just as I called on him to cancel the dessert, he casually strolled over with the pie without offering any explanation or apology. BTW the pie was pretty good. I took my husband here for the first time this past Friday evening. My mother and I used to eat here a few years back before I got married so I figured I would share the good experience with my husband. Walking in I had a bad feeling about this place. We were not greeted and looked at awkwardly. Kind of a "what are you doing here" look. We may look young, but considering my husband of 3 years works for Harvard, looks can be pretty deceiving, huh? Maybe we both got the wrong idea from the greeting we received but there is no reason to not be greeted with a smile at the very least. Our waitress was very nice and always on top of refills. We were in and out of there very quickly so I have no complaints there. That was really the saving grace for the whole visit. Now...the food. The cornbread reminded me of a sponge. Maybe I am spoiled considering my in-laws and husband are from the south but wow, yuck! We had a fried shrimp appetizer. It was pretty good. For an entree I had the baked shrimp and my husband the fish and chips. My baked shrimp was okay. Not worth the 20+ dollars but it was edible. The rice on the side was dry, over cooked and tasted like it had been sitting out all day (or dare I say microwaved). My husband's fish was probably the worst we have both ever tasted. Mushy, slimy and tasteless. No amount of lemon or sauce could help that. I was going to help my husband finish his dish that he was literally forcing down to not be rude but he wouldn't let me go through that torture. Listen, we weren't expecting a fine dining experience, but if a place all about seafood can't get a basic fish and chips right, I don't even know what to tell you. Overall a very sad and overpriced for the quality meal. To top it all off, within an hour or two of us eating there we had to leave the casino because we both had a terrible stomach ache, especially my husband. I come to this establishment for clams on the half shell. That is my primary reason for coming here. I drove up on Christmas Day. I arrived at approximately 6 p.m. and saw the sign for BOGO beginning at 8 o'clock p.m. till closing. Since I was early I entertain myself for 2 hours and then returned to the establishment. I sat down and a waitress approached me and I asked for BOGO of a dozen clams on the half shell. The waitress replied, it's Christmas and we are not honoring that. I explained that maybe the manager would after all I am a frequent Patron and the sign posted did not exclude holidays. She sent the manager over who approached the table begrudgingly, and I conveyed the same message to him as I did to the server, and he looked at me like I had four heads. I was telling him that he had an advertisement without exclusions and he was not holding up his end of the bargain. Since I told him the truth, he apparently did not like the way I was speaking to him. He dismissed me and when I asked who I could speak to address the issue he said I'm it. When I then told him I will speak to the Mohegan Sun Hotel management, he threw his card at me and he said go speak to anyone you want. Needless to say, I was terribly disappointed that a manager working Within this fine establishment was permitted to speak to customers and clients of Mohegan Sun with such disdain and attitude. This guy should not be working in a service industry and I will do everything that I can to make sure this man is either fired reassigned or retrained. I know Tricia used to be the general manager and I hope that she still reads these things. I am also reaching out to management at Mohegan Sun, Mr. Hamilton, because they do not want vendors on their property treating customers who are their clients being treated in this manner. i have never been so mortified at what happened this evening at Summer shack at Mohegan Sun that i truly am about to call the health department! We were seated right away, server was pleasant, had our appetizer and that is where the whole experience went down hill! we had both ordered the Blue cheese burger MEDIUM... they came RAW in the middle, not even warm!!! paying such inflated prices and inedible food we sent them back. my husband had taken a bite out of his before he spit it out from being raw... when our new burgers came back THEY WERE NOT NEW!!!!! they took our OLD BURGERS with BITES TAKEN OUT OF THEM, put them back on the broiler and RESERVED THEM!!!!! there are so many health violations broken in this action i cannot begin to explain, ... so we called a manager over who willingly said THAT IS WHAT WE DO!!!!! at this point i was shaking i was so repulsed, and they had the nerve to ask if we wanted another burger... no thank you i wouldn't come within 20 paces of this place NEVER EVER AGAIN!!!!! we left the restaurant and the head manager came out, and explained " that is what we do with all reorders" REALLY????? I shall be contacting the health department on monday this place needs to be shut down once and for all you do not EVER put food that has been eaten back onto a grill with others people's food!!!!! If I could give this place 0 stars I would, first off we stood in line waiting to be seated and NO ONE acknowledged us for about 20 mins. Yes, it was busy. But if the bartender had time to chit chat for 10 minutes than they had time to at least greet. Nope. My boyfriend chased down a buss boy, who went above and beyond. He cleared off a table for us and let us know when it was ready. In the mean time a few people snuck behind us an sat at the bar when only the bar An bar tables were open, well an elderly couple ended up sitting next to us about 10 minutes after we sat down. We glanced at the menu as did they, about-0 minutes later no one had even greeted us. And at that point one of the bartenders walked by and asked the couple next to us what they wanted to drink.. we continued to wait. So not only did we wait over 40 minutes to be ignored, but I ended up having to walk out seeing as the couple who snuck in 5 mins before us already had food, and the couple who arrived after us had drinks before we had even been greeted sitting at a table next to them. Ordered a cheeseburger cooked medium well and after a bite noticed it came out rare. Called the waiter who then solicited the manager Jed Bogue. He gladly took the burger back. When they returned the cheeseburger was the same one missing the bite. The cheese was now burned as well as the ketchup and the patty edges. I questioned why it wasn't a new patty and he responded "that's their policy". What kind of an establishment in an elite hotel (Mohegan Sun) does that? I am sorry to say that I just had the worst whole belly fried clams that I have ever had in my entire life at the Summer Shack in the Mohegan Sun!! I sent back the first order because there was nothing but necks. It looked more like fried clam strips. So after I sent it back the help gave me another order. There were probably two whole belly clams in the entire basket. It looked like they swept the floor in my basket. I usually go to Gino's to get fried clams (as they are usually a good size and very tasteful) but I thought I would give the Summer Shack a try. BIG MISTAKE!! I will never go the Summer Shack again, I must say that someone ordered a clam roll at the table next to me, and those clams looked like they came from an entirely different kitchen! I think for the price of $18.00 I should get at least 5 whole belly clams. Don't you? Instead nothing but a bunch of extremely tough necks and no bellies. And let's not forget the cold slaw. It was so yellow it looked like it was made last week. Needless to say I didn't eat it. I am looking at some of your reviews and I'm wondering when did these people who gave a great rating on the clams eat these clams? First time visit....we'll go back again. It wasn't very busy, but service was extremely slow! Besides the service there was a few other disappointments the corn bread is dry and the butter is cold so good luck trying to spread it without making bread crumbs. Not very flavorful crumbs either. Now the good....the clam cakes were the best we ever had. I would eat them as a meal they are so good. Light, fluffy, not greasy at all. The fried scallops were cooked to perfection! Had a very memorable dinner experience at the Summer Shack on New Year's Eve: undoubtedly, the WORST meal I can remember. I opted for the Mackerel special served with broccoli and crispy polenta. It was the broccoli that ruined it big time: it was coated in oil and tasted so bad I can't describe it - maybe burned garlic mixed in with something else. That flavor coated my tongue and stayed with me for a long time after. The polenta was heavily coated with a bread crumb mix and fried: it was certainly crispy, but not very palatable (the polenta was too rich and cheesy for my taste). The fish itself was well prepared and cooked, with a nice amount of dried tomato relish on top. Regardless, the sides were so horrible that I'll never forget it. They should be embarrassed to have served that plate. read more

Wanted to dine here and was told wait was 45 minutes for our table of 6, we agreed and gave our phone number then headed over to the bar. 48 minutes went by so we decided to check on our table, we were told that we were called and our table has been given away. The hostess was extremely rude about it, even though we showed her our phone that the call did not happen and she said "that happens sometimes." Said we would be put to the top of the list and it will be another 20 minutes. 30 minutes go by and during the 30 minutes the wait for people coming in was '5-10 minutes' and people were being seated right away. We checked again and they said 'our table was not getting up where they wanted to seat us so its not ready yet'. We ended up leaving starving looking for something else. The hostess staff was extremely rude, that is the first face customers deal with when dinning in a restaurant and that begins the whole experience. Summer Shack turned out to be a very pleasant surprise. We had a group of six and were interested in sea food, so this seemed like the place to go at the hotel. We liked the comfortable, informal atmosphere and the staff were friendly and attentive. Members of our group had a variety of dishes, including one order of steak and fries. Everyone was pleased with their dishes. I ordered flounder with corn pudding and green beans. The flounder was pan fried just right and the beans were prepared perfectly. Seasoning was mild. The corn pudding was very bland, the only disappointment of the meal. Service was excellent. I would definitely return should I visit the Mohegan Sun in the future. read more

We went before a show, they told us it was a 10 to 15 minute wait. After 25 minutes we asked when we would get in they said another 5 to 10 minutes. When I complained that they had missinformed us to begin with. All they had to say was that they were busy. Okay, here's the deal....when a restaurant is not busy and there are dozens of tables available, the hostess should NOT be seating people in the back of the restaurant with full view/earshot of the back room (dishwashing??) and kitchen. I don't wanna see all the guys "hangin" around the food griddles chit chatting and having a grand 'ol time while they are supposed to be preparing food. that bugged me. Now the food-husbands fried shrimp were very good. My fish and chips were not. The fish was too greasy to eat. They LOOKED like they sat in a vat of oil for a long time, ewe. the fish was mushy. somethin' was NOT right with that $20 fish and chips i tell you! I ate the bread and french fries. cole slaw was off, not traditional tasting and orangey in color...not my taste. waitress was nice and dinner was ready, i'm not kidding, in about 4 minutes flat. super hot oil? or already sitting around??? hmmmm.... maybe the fish was already cooked and then they give it a second dip in super hot to heat it up, that would explain the abundance of oil! My one experience at Jasper White was bad. I went there after a concert one night, because my usual fave, SolToro, was already closed for the night. Even so, I like seafood, so I thought this would be a great alternative. After checking out their prices, I decided to keep it cheap and ordered a cocktail and some conch fritters. It took ten minutes for the server to come take our drink order, and another twenty for her to bring the drinks back. If it were busy I would understand this, but we were one of only three tables seated in her section. My cocktail was undrinkable (I'm not all that picky either) so when she brought the food (yet another twenty minutes later) I had the server exchange it for a house margarita. The margarita was lousy, but at least I could drink it. My conch fritter had a chunk of shell in it, which I chipped a back tooth on. I would have mentioned it if my server ever came back, but she was so busy chatting up her party of six that we never saw her again. It was such a bad experience that I took the time to complain to Mohegan Sun a few days later, and they told me they would forward my letter on to the restaurant. It's been almost six months now and still no response, so any chance they had to redeem themselves with me is shot. read more

We came here as a party of 7 for Mother's Day. We had a reservation and were seated immediately. The decor is kind of "hard", everything is hard like the floors, tables, walls, and ceiling. It's a bit noisy inside because of this. Our server Ally was excellent. We ordered a lot of different aps and main dishes, Everything was good, but nothing stood out. Prices were on the high side. They gave the Mother's long stem roses which was nice! Thanks for that, it was thoughtful. To compare...last year we went to Bobby Flay's across the hall and the bill was double, the food 1/2 as good, and no flowers at fabulous Bobby's because they are greedy pigs. We paid for a side of Bobby's great french fries last year, I think about 1/2 the cost of my dish at Jasper.s and there were maybe 20 fries in it! Something changed and not for the better We always sit at the bar and start with clams and oysters and finish off with fried chicken. Last night our chicken was brought to us just as the server completed our menu request Needless to say it was sent back because it wasn't ours. The oysters and clams were delicious. Not the same with the cornbread though. What used to be warm and moist was dry and tasteless. Our meals came soon after. I should have sent back the chicken because it was most likely the same plate that was brought out 20 min ago but It was late and I did not want to wait any longer. My husband ordered the stuffed shrimp which were ok. They came with a side of jasmine rice which was thrown on the plate as an afterthought.
