Unfortunately Sarah wasn't working here today and I introduced to my New most favorite waitress Elyse. Elyse is so full of charm and energy and an awesome personality. Excellent customer service skills, and Elyse made our visit to Todd's English Tuscany a real treat. For starters I had to start with my staples Eggs Benedict, Garlic flavored Greenbeans, a nice assortment of fruit so delicious and flavorful, and my true Love the bacon. Now I never really eat too much bacon when I'm in NYC or Florida but here they make the bacon with such an awesome flavor I'm extremely happy that I don't live close to the Mohegan Sun Casino because I'll be having this bacon everyday. The task becomes somewhat easier if you eliminate the food court and the restaurants that open at 4:00. So based upon those parameters, and our wish to go somewhere "nice", we walked into Todd English's Tuscany. It's smack in the middle of the massive Mohegan Sun property, pretty much in the center of a triangle connecting the Casino of the Sky, Sky Convention Center, and Sky Tower hotel. The entrances into the restaurant are pretty cool. They look like you are walking into a mountainside with stone cliffs soaring up into the sky. We had a choice between ordering of the menu or going with their $34.99 Tuscan Table buffet. After looking at the menu, we both agreed the buffet was the way to go. It's available Monday - Friday from 11:00am - 3:00pm, and offers "A variety of authentic Italian dishes, including antipasti, salads, fresh made in-house pasta, flatbreads, dessert fare, and choice of non-alcoholic beverage". It was a great choice. I started off with a cup of black bean soup and then hit the appetizer station where I was delighted to see a big cauldron of shrimp and mussels fra diavlo. That's a big favorite of mine, so I grabbed a plate, a slice of crostini, and a few big scoops of that spicy seafood. I loved it. After that, I tried some lobster mac and cheese and short rib pappardelle. Oh, by the way, all of their pastas are house made. I would have enjoyed the mac and cheese more if the customers in front of me hadn't harvested all of the lobster chunks for their personal consumption. And then of course, the big dessert station was next -cannoli, whoopie pies, cheesecake, tarts, pastries, tiramisu, and some sugar-free offerings. Good luck controlling yourself here. Haven't been here in years but what used to feel like an experience now just felt like a very mediocre place to get food not even worth the somewhat modest price. I remember beautiful table dressings, candles...ambiance. The setting is still pretty great. Service was slow but they seemed understaffed. Isai was out waiter and he was really great and attentive. I had the Wagyu bolognese and it was dry and thick like wallpaper paste. Honestly, the flavor wasn't anything to speak about either. At least great flavor with bad consistency would have helped. My wife and the chicken parm. The chicken was cooked perfectly. Nice and juicy but it was still "meh". Tuscany is back open after a much needed upgrade. Everything has been painted and new furniture. FYI .. there was a sign please make sure you have a reservation, not sure if they're open to walk-ins at this time. First before I go into any of my food reviews, I have to tell you come prepared it was absolutely freezing in this restaurant it seemed like they had the air on. They say they tried to call people. It was frigid in there the entire time. To start off our trip to Tuscany we agreed with a very pleasant waitress who was very quick to take our drink water in any appetizers. We were then greeted with some warm bread, olive tapenade and hummus. Which was a very tasty bite. Our lemon martinis with a sugar rim or fantastic. Our food came out rather quickly. The lobster bisque was a good portion. It had nice pieces of lobster in it not too thick not too salty probably one of the better ones. I've had the meatballs came out with a portion of four large meat meatballs topped with ricotta cheese, very flavorful and tender. Thankfully, all the food stayed hot while we had freezing cold air blowing on us. Next thing may sound a little weird, but they redid the seating covers on the benches and they're made out of this leather Ish suede style material and when you try to get in your clothes, don't move with it so you kinda have to hop in and out of your seat or else, your clothes are gonna roll. While it gives you a warm feeling of the atmosphere it's not very easy to get in and out of your seats. Overall, it was a great trip. It's been a while since I dined here. Located insured Moheghan sun, the other restaurant Ballo was closed for renovations so reservations were hard to get during Mother's Day weekend. We were lucky to get reservations for party of 5. I think it's the 1st time having dinner. It's a great place for brunch. It's better to sit outside. Inside is very dark. Our server was very friendly n attentive. We started w the focaccia served warm w amazing olive oil. I was almost full from the focaccia. Stopped in here a bit late in the afternoon to rest up for our ride home on a bus expedition. Found fortification in the bar in front of the waterfall...great service, perfect atmosphere and a Negroni the way it should be made. The food was meh, drinks were not good, but our waiter was lovely. I think his name was Jamie and he took great care of us- a party of 7 sat at 9:30pm. I made this reservation over the phone at 6pm, and the person who took the call was VERY accommodating of our party and took special care to seat us all together which was very nice. He said they had something like 400 reservations this night. The bread they brought us was very nice and a godsend because we needed some sustenance. It came with a bean dip and olive tapenade that I really enjoyed. I got the goat cheese and beet salad which looked great on the menu but ended up being strangely watery and I didn't like how small and firm the beets were. It was the end of a very busy night though so I can't fault them too much. I hope it's much better when it's not a weekend with a show in the arena. I got the passion fruit martini which was syrupy and just too sickly sweet. I sent it back and got the Pre-Game cocktail which had redbull and was also not great but drinkable. My friend liked his pistachio martini but I also found the flavor very artificial. We had tried to make reservations here a few times before over the past few years and were not successful. So being able to get a reservation for an upcoming visit was eagerly anticipated with excitement, especially considering all the great reviews. We arrived about 10 minutes prior to our 5:45pm reservations on a Saturday night. The place was not at all packed, and there was no issue being seated. Great! We had a show at 7pm and made the staff aware. Beautiful setting and an upscale dining experience was anticipated. Our server introduced himself and proceeded to rattle off the 5-7 dishes on the menu that were not available. What? Not his fault but ah, such a bummer. There was only 1 special offered. The menu is already pretty specifically limited so losing 5 choices is huge. Bread and dipping sauces were brought to table, and while fine, nothing extraordinary. Sangria and a draft Stella arrived and we placed an order for a filet mignon with asparagus and a spaghetti poppeltine meatballs, "Brooklyn style". The waiter stated that the pasta was made in house and was so good. The filet mignon ordered medium rare cut like butter and was outstanding. The asparagus tasted fresh and well seasoned. The pasta dish with meatballs was underwhelming at best, outside of the portion size. The meatballs had no taste and lacked any texture or spice profile ; the sauce was lacking in quantity and seasoning. The pasta was cooked perfectly, but I could not discern that it was freshly made. Not at all satisfying. There was NO way that the parmigiana cheese grated was authentic..,so disappointing. Our server said he was new and while he was fine and accommodating, it was not the level of service based on the pricing of dishes and drinks and the reputation of the establishment. The restrooms were clean and some tables have a peek of the open kitchen. It is a lovely and convenient setting, but the food and service fell short and we will not be returning. read more

Reservations through Open Table is definitely the way to go, and on a weekend night, the *only* way to go. Our waiter Jamie was very good; he did let us know that the kitchen was short staffed, so there weren't any specials on the menu. A mild dissatisfier but not the end of the world. Their wine selections/options are extensive, and on July 4th weekend, our food came out in about 30-35 mins which I considered respectable. The ambiance is as you would expect. I echo my fellow Yelper's on the poor / slow service, under seasoned / mediocre / bland food, and prices that are over the top for pizzeria quality food. Had the beet salad, wagyu Bolognese, and chicken parm. All were bland and under seasoned. Parm had a 1/2 inch thick slab of melted cheese over the top of a bland fried chicken patty. Bolognese was also meh, but the portion size was enough for 4 people..., literally a 2 lb portion of pasta and sauce..., and the pasta wasn't even homemade. Beet salad had zero seasoning. This place has underperformed for years and only survives because they do a pretty good brunch on the weekend. Literally any other restaurant at Mohegan Sun is a better choice than this place..., including Krispy Kreme. Hard pass at all cost. As a reply to the "canned response" to this review, I can say that Rich Doucette the Executive Chef at Mohegan Sun has been aware of this restaurant's shortcomings for some time and has not corrected the issues. The numerous poor Yelp ratings and the overall poor Yelp rating for Tuscany should necessitate his personal and long term attention. Further, a restaurant at Mohegan Sun should not have a rating like this and/or this many complaints. Would love to see this restaurant do better. read more

Hunny and I went to this place on Wednesday night before going to a concert at the Sun Arena to see Earth, Wind and Fire. It was awful. We arrived at 6pm but were told to come back at 7:15pm because they were booked up so we did. When we arrived we were seated at the first table as you enter the main entrance. Another couple was seated at the table next to us. We struck up a conversation with them and found out they were going to the same concert as us. We both ordered appetizers at the same time. They had eaten their appetizers and left for the pre-show at 8pm and we were still waiting for ours. Around 8:15pm ny husband's entree came out but we had not received the appetizers so they took the entree back. About five minutes later the appetizers came. We ordered calamari and a Tuscany salad. They were okay but nothing to write home about. The entree finally came back and the steak was overcooked because it was under the warmer I presume. Also, the spinach was dark and dry and the fries came out with truffles and we didn't want truffles. They took the fries back and brought back a new batch but by that time it was time for us to make our way to the concert which started at 9pm so we packed our stuff to go took it to our hotel room. The ambiance was non existent because the noise level was so high you couldn't hear yourself talk. There was a table on the level behind us that was cackling so loud that my husband complained to the waiter that it was uncharacteristic for a restaurant of their caliber to have such loud cackling throughout the dining experience. The waiter ended up applying a 10% discount to our check to compensate us for such a horrible experience. But the entire meal should have been comped. We won't be going back. read more

But man, the food quality is so subpar. $65 for a ribeye steak that was super dried and tasteless. Ok. I can live with that. But charge $11 for broccolini with pancetta for what I can see and TASTE it is old bacon that has been refried and cut into pieces, that forced me to write this review. The "pancetta" was horrid. My wife had a spaghetti dinner that was not cooked right very hard and I'm pure Italian so I eat a lot of pasta. I eat it soft I eat it hard. Awful experience. Aside from our waiter who was incredibly patient with us as we waited for our entire party to arrive. Thank you for that. Outside of that the "newly remodeled" and reopened Tuscany at Mohegan Sun was a complete disappointment and rip off. Price wise we expected a large bill, no problem. However, for what we received for that cost was abysmal. The lobster bisque soup came in a quarter filled bowl. We ordered 3. If we combined all 3 in one bowl it still wouldn't fill one up. The steak was tiny, chewy and bland tasting. The chicken parm was tiny, also flavorless and tough to chew. Everyone who got pasta as part of their meal agreed that it tasted like a frozen dinner from a grocery store warmed up in a microwave. The mashed potatoes were also slightly cold and flavorless. I didn't see any major renovations either. What was changed? A new coat of paint on the walls and a couple redesigned booths? And that's why all prices went up and food quality went down? Tuscany should be ashamed of themselves for serving such low caliber food for such insane prices. Mohegan Sun should also take a minute to see what's going on with the food here. I highly recommend avoiding this place unless you like paying through the nose to sit by a waterfall and eat lean cuisine frozen diners. Do better, Tuscany! read more

Went to Tuscany for Valentine's day/anniversary celebration with hubby on Friday night. Made reservations on open-table app. When we checked in we were given option if indoor or outdoor seating but chose indoor. Outdoor would be nice for people watching but the waterfall and other noise make it harder to have a romantic dinner. There are two outdoor bars that look fun if just want a drink. We were sat near indoor bar, with view of the open kitchen. Only issue with table was that it overlooked a bottom seating area and when my knife accidentally fell, it almost hit the couple sitting below! Thankfully they were understanding. For dinner we had pasta with seafood; i had a lobster pasta special, not on menu, and hubby chose a pasta off menu. Mine came with a creamy sauce, was delicious only not a lot of lobster pieces. My husband pasta had a lot of seafood but not a lot of pasta (linguine i think). Both tasted delicious. We also each had a cocktail, passion fruit martini. The highlight though was the bread and the spreads! The bread was fresh, crunchy crust and very tasty! The spreads were very different, one made from beans the other from olives. I loved both! Since Mohegan Sun took over Tuscany, the food has gotten even better. Brunch is definitely worth the price of admission at $50. They have now instituted the Tuscan Table as another lunch alternative M-F for $50 and of course you can use choice credits or Momentum dollars. It is a smaller version of their weekend brunch (no pasta or omelette stations) but includes a glass of wine or beer or non- alcoholic beverages. This replaces the Choice credit lunch they used to have. Everything was delicious and lots of choice for appetizers, salad bar, main course and desserts. I highly recommend it. Sue is our #1 waiter at Tuscany but alas she was off. Our other waiter took great care of us as well. read more

This time I was sat in the back in the private room with 5 other table. Thank you so much for that seating placement I felt like a princess it was spacious and not to claustrophobic as half booth seating Is sat at my first time dining with you. We were led through the restaurant to a room in the back that also has a couple of small tables but was semi-private and beautifully decorated as a wine cellar. Our server was very friendly and made wonderful recommendations that included honest portion sizes. We received complimentary bread with chili sauce and oil that was incredible. I also ordered a pistachio martini that I still dream about. We especially enjoyed the short rib ravioli, ribeye, lamb, asparagus, truffle Mac and cheese, and blue cheese mashed potatoes. The only saving grace for this place is the decor with the waterfall at night and service. Otherwise, the food was almost in edible in terms of being way too salty or spicy when we asked for no spiciness. Moreover, the rack of lamb, porterhouse, and seafood buccatini were not only overcooked, but charred to the point of being cooked multiple times where you can't get passed eating burnt, carcinogenic crisps if you're hungry. The bread was salty, not fluffly, and had a weird texture. You might as well order the whipped ricotta with honey, which was up to par. It's sad when the cream sauce on their rigatoni congeals to the point that you can't mix it. I could go on about what went wrong, but that would ruin anyone else's appetite. I wouldn't come back except for the view. I'm disappointed that a chef wouldn't care about the quality of his restaurant affecting his reputation.
