[[HIGHLIGHT]]The ambiance is dive bar in Mexico or California on the water.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]By no means high end like they may have hoped to achieve based on the menu prices.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] It's actually one of the more expensive restaurants on the Mohegan Sun property. The others are high value, this place takes the cash but the portions oof. I'm sure they will blame tariffs, Iran, Ukraine, Palestine or some political issue for it but the fact is the markup is extreme especially even more so for a dive theme restaurant. Example lobster at fish market is $6-10 per lb in the region, in the summer the price is lower. Yet lobster here starts at nearly $80 and up. That's a lot higher than the standard markup. Got the Fisherman's platter portion size not impressed for the price. Taste completely unseasoned, already a horrible start. The shrimp were way overcooked. The Fish bland, and tough, overcooked as well. The scallops good natural flavor, unseasoned and also overcooked. Truly sad cause if prepared right while a bit overpriced probably the closest thing to a fair price it would have been a home run. Can confirm seasoning does actually improve taste if only the cook/chef knew that. Food is still overcooked but salt and pepper does help it go down. The waitress was great that is a plus and the beer was solid. Overall the casino has better options, looked like a cool place had a line waiting for open but disappointing the food was overcooked and bland. Always willing to give another chance but first impression wasn't good at all. Staff is amazing so that's a plus. read more

I always come to this place when I visit Mohegan Sun, which is three to four times a year and I usually enjoy the experience but this time was different. I ordered a two pound lobster that was so old the meat was not moist and it fell apart when you bit into it. $90 is a lot of money to pay for a lobster whose shell was so touch I couldn't even crack even with the nutcracker they gave me so I was forced to try to get the meat out of the shell with the small fork. It was a hot mess. The sauce was very watery too. I never thought I would ever say this but I'm never going back to Summer Shack again. I just can't chance it. read more

Came here before a game at the arena and was seated right away. The staff was nice and service was quick. I got the fish sandwich and nothing was wrong with it. It was just pretty basic no frills. Had friends visiting from the west coast so my husband and I met up with them at Mohegan Sun on a Wednesday evening. While having drinks, the bartender recommended Summer Shack since it was our first time here and it's a family friendly restaurant. The restaurant offers a variety of fresh seafood dishes, steaks, and burgers. Our server was very friendly and accommodating. Food and service were good. My husband and I shared the wedge salad. My friends also ordered oysters and octopus. I had the mussels, my husband and friend had the tenderloin steak tips and my other friend had the fish and chips. For dessert, we had the creme brûlée. We got here late and the place had a few patrons at the bar. The dinning room was closed so we sat in the lounge. I'd been here before and had a pretty good experience. This time it was much better. The server was stellar and attentive. Never rushed us and made sure we had everything we needed. The food. We had visited a handful of different restaurants and were told the wait would be at least 3 hours. Good drinks. My tito's bloody mary was delicious and very classic but no pickle. The miso soup brought me back to life for only $6. We liked our calamari but there wasn't very much of it. The menu is very expensive for what it is but that's typical at the casino. I got the lobster potstickers but was quite disappointed by them- they tasted like they weren't steamed for long enough and definitely came from a frozen bag. I had an early dinner here with my husband and in-laws. It was pretty busy, but we were seated and had our orders taken quickly. I had the Fish Tacos with Fries, and sipped on a Twisted Mermaid. My drink was good - just the right amount of coconut rum. The tacos were big so I saved one for leftovers. They were satisfying, but I think a better sauce was needed to add some more tanginess and spice. I also prefer smaller corn tortillas instead of flour. I got to try Jasper White's Summer Shack on restaurant week at Mohegan Sun. I found it to be quite enjoyable. We had prix fixe 3-course meals. Clam Chowders, Pan Roasted Lobster, Stuffed Shrimp, and Creme Brulees for dessert. I specifically asked the server if the Lobster Bisque was Gluten Free. She checked with the kitchen and said Yes. Based on my body's reaction within an hour I'd guess they used flour as a thickener. tasted good, but so not worth the after affects. I enjoy the oysters here tremendously as there is always a good selection that lets me compare their unique flavors plus they are served icy cold and well shucked without shell fragments or breakage. Delish! Staff is always friendly and the casual dining experience is great for a casino. read more

Solid meal at Summer Shack after a show at the Mohegan Sun arena. I didn't want to set my expectations too high since you know casinos tend to be touristy, but our meal here turned out to be a pleasant surprise. The only downside is that food is a bit pricey (as expected). We split a large order of the fried whole belly clams and had a half dozen of quahog and a half dozen of littleneck clams. The whole bellies were super meaty and juicy with a light coating of breading. We probably didn't also need the fries, but I wanted the coleslaw. Each clam was beautifully shucked and brimming with briney clam juice which provided some much needed balance to the table. Clams were $3 each! We stopped here before going to the concert and only had a 30-45 minutes to eat and they got the food out so fast and all so fresh and no complaints. The Edamame came out COLD, first time we've ever had that happen! Clams casino was 6 clams, not even separated from the muscle which made it very difficult to get out of the shell without making a mess. They were topped by limp pieces of bacon that appeared uncooked, and some creamy yellow substance that I took to be a butter substitute; I would argue that it was definitely not the promised butter on those clams. Our waiter was pleasant but aside from coming by once to smile at us after the kitchen server dropped off our plates, we didn't see him. The kicker was the check. At the bottom was pre-printed "excellent service, 25%" and the suggested dollar amount; "good service, 20%" and dollar amount, and then "Other-- please ask for the manager ". Our waitress came over immediately and she was very sweet and attentive. The servers were also very quick and responsive when we asked for ketchup and new utensils when we dropped them accidentally. The food came out quick. The whole belly clams weren't that tasty. The fish and chips and burger were mediocre. The fries and sweet potato waffle fries were great though! Had a Suffering Bastard at the bar. It is a Tiki drink with 3 rums including 151. Cost $40 for the sharing size (bowl). My wife maybe drank 1/4 of it and I drank the rest.
