Gave advice on what restaurants, shops, and wineries she thought we'd be interested in. Bunkie, who worked at the office, was very helpful. We stayed in an off-site at the Petite Syrah bungalow. It was in perfect condition and so clean. The amenities were great! Prior to arrival, I arranged for them to provide a shower chair for my husband, who is ill. It was in the shower when we arrived. The bed was comfy, and the gas fireplace was a nice touch. We had a small patio and a separate porch, which were so nice to sit on for coffee or drinks in the early evening. There was a hot tub, but we didn't get a chance to use it. There were other bungalows, but we didn't see any other guests. It was a gated property. Shopping, the downtown area, and restaurants were all within a quick drive. Good delivery was easy and quick. It has a full kitchen and a good selection of utensils, dishes, and pots and pans. I recommend bringing your own spices if you plan to cook something special. I wanted cumin for a meal, but I could only find a huge jar at the supermarket. Honestly, it worked out great because it felt a little secluded and was more quiet in comparison to the downtown Sonoma area. I imagined hearing children shrieking and playing all over the place. When we pulled up to the house, I was very happy to see that the community of homes is VERY spread out, so the home is pretty secluded. We walked up the stairs to find a very cozy home and guest house. The first night was spent cooking, drinking wine, and hanging out in the hot tub. The kitchen is well-stocked with utensils, so we cooked breakfast and dinner here each day. We were close to the river, so we spend the second day kayaking. The home has a TV/DVD player, so when we were exhausted in the evening, we could relax and watch movies or play some of the games available in the house. Wineries are not too far, so we spent the third day wine tasting. We had a great vacation, and we hope to return next summer!

There are a series of elegantly themed cottages surrounding a main Queen Anne Style home. Whoever decorated this place is a genius. Every corner has a unique detail to discover! There is a rooster house with all kinds of adorable pieces and an Oak house with a tree through the kitchen! The spread out cottages allowed for privacy and serenity. I've never slept better! In the morning, I woke up surrounded by the electric colors of fall. I also noticed that the estate was surrounded by all kinds of colorful fruit trees and vegetation. None of us wanted to leave! Sweet sweet escape. It only took us an hour to get back to San Francisco! I can't wait to go back!

The home we rented (for over $400 per night, plus a $200 non-refundable cleaning deposit) was the "Urban Escape" on Sea Ranch. The property itself was in need of some repairs and upgrades: the hot water tank gave out the first night. The rental agency contact did get a plumber out to us, but I had got the pilot to stay lit while he was there, and he left with the wrong diagnosis (improper ventilation). After repeated re-lightings, the pilot would not stay on. We gave up on it. Also, the built-in microwave was kaput, and the original oven controls were missing. A replacement microwave was set on a counter. One day into the stay, a cabinet door to the kitchen sink area fell off. The fill cycle in the master bath toilet would not shut off without jiggling the handle. Coasting Home should have known of the issues with this home, and should not have listed it. Answer? $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

The family history here is compelling and part of why we chose to stay here- it is a privilege to be part of the Straus family's world, and to see the land that Mrs. Straus fought to preserve. The home is comfortable and lends itself to so many great memories- we enjoy conversations in every nook and love retreating to our rooms for much needed rest. The views around the property are stunning. One of my stays was rainy and that was equally delicious - this natural invitation to hunker down and read and be present. Michael is a wonderful person and host and has always shown us such kindness and openness. It is great working with him to set up the place prior to our arrival, from extra requests to making a fire pit for s'mores. This place holds a special place in my heart and I would come back more often if I could afford to - it's a great treat. You will love it.

They had our hearts within minutes of meeting them, and we quickly learned that their warmth was matched with deep event planning expertise, lightning fast responses to all manner of inquiries, and a general willingness to do absolutely everything within their power to make our wedding seamless. We can't say enough positive things about Vivien and Michael. We had heard planning a wedding would be stressful, but largely thanks to Vivien and Michael, we honestly never felt stressed. They regularly welcomed us to the ranch ahead of our wedding, helping us build a special bond to the land and to their family. They worked so effectively as a team, helping us find lodging, answering questions on behalf of our other vendors, thoughtfully navigating asks related to honoring recently passed family members, and so much more. During the wedding weekend, Michael bent over backwards to make sure everything ran smoothly, always beaming with a huge smile. His soft serve ice cream was such a big hit! It was always such a relief to see Michael, because we knew he was fixing something we didn't have to worry about, or making something work better, or just thinking 10 steps ahead to make a future moment run smoothly. He is exactly who you want at your wedding!! We had the wedding of our dreams and we can't imagine a better place or better hosts for this special moment in our lives. We plan to visit Straus Home Ranch regularly and will loudly sing the praises of Michael and Vivien everywhere we go, because we're convinced there is no better place on the planet to host a wedding.

I rented Wineberry Lodge and Blackberry Cottage for a wedding party of 11 people. All eleven of us…read morewere very comfortable at the location. Both places were beautifully decorated and furnished. They were also exceptionally clean. The kitchens in both places were very well equipped for gourmet cooking. Just a couple examples of unexpected food prep and entertainment equipment are coffee grinders, food scales, large serving plates, and extensive stemware for wine. Very unexpected supplies included whole bean coffee, fresh fruit and two bottles of wine. There are also a large number of toys and sports equipment in the garages. My son brought his own golf clubs and got in a round of golf while we were there, but the Wineberry Lodge has two sets of golf clubs in the garage in case someone does not want to transport their own clubs. The site is beautiful and located in a very convenient area for golf, wine tasting, and in my case about a three-minute drive from the Vine Hill House wedding venue Heidi was a wonderful host. I highly recommend either or both of Wineberry Lodge and Blackberry Cottage for a wine country getaway.
