I have never been healthier since finding Summit Health. I have been working with Dr. Husain and Hernan for about a year now. They have changed my life for the better. I have managed to reduce and eliminate medications and better manage my health conditions under their care. I am now the healthiest I have ever been as an adult, perhaps healthier than I have ever been. I feel that not only can I can maintain where I have gotten with Summit Health's continued care and guidance, but I can keep improving. They have become an essential part of my health journey, management, and maintenance, and I actually look forward to my appointments. Dr. Husain has proven to be a good and caring provider, setting me on a good path with a good framework but still letting me make my own choices, and Hernan has gone above and beyond helping me with my insurance, which has been complex and challenging. Originally, I was turned off by the fact that no male providers are seeing new patients, and I was forced to work with a female provider, which made me uncomfortable as a male, but it turns out to really be a non-issue for me. It's more of a nice to have than a need to have and Dr. Husain has been great. I do think, though, that having the option to see a male provider when/if/as needed would be ideal. Fortunately, I haven't had any male-specific concerns as of late. I was also blindsided by the annual membership fee and considered changing practices/PCPs when I first found out, but I am glad I stuck with it and didn't move, as the quality and ease of care makes it worth the price. It is worth it. The people here seem to be well taken care of, and I think that's better for everyone, ultimately resulting in better quality care. Some of the MA's are questionable, I like some more than others, but Hernan is always great. When in doubt, talk to Hernan. Overall, I highly recommend Summit Health Group and Dr. Husain and expect to have a long, ongoing, and valuable relationship with this practice. read more

After an accident last week, I was referred to this chiropractic office. I'd never been evaluated before, but have been adjusted (about 6 years ago). Dr. Shani really took his time with me and had a very knowledgeable yet personable demeanor. He knew exactly what I needed, and he and Tim provided me with exceptional care. Absolutely avoid this clinic if you are a Medicare/Medi-Cal patient. After two months of back-and-forth, multiple follow-ups, and repeatedly filling out forms that were misplaced and had to be redone, the clinic ultimately told us we did not qualify for care--despite being covered by Medi-Care. They also send required forms from an email address that cannot receive replies, and they don't tell you this until you follow up weeks later. The entire experience was a waste of time, created unnecessary delays in treatment, and was incredibly frustrating. I would not recommend this clinic to anyone. read more

I'm writing to express my disappointment following my recent experience as a new patient at your practice. I received the new patient form on Tuesday at 10:08 AM PST and submitted it back on Thursday at 11:00 AM PST--just one hour past the 48-hour submission deadline. I understand and respect your policy, though I did not anticipate that a one-hour delay would result in a complete cancellation of my appointment, which was scheduled for today at 2:00 PM. Upon my arrival, I was warmly greeted by Natasha at the front desk, to whom I provided my name. She then informed me that my appointment had been canceled due to the form being submitted an hour late. While I understand the importance of adhering to policies, I was surprised by the tone in which this information was conveyed. When I asked for more details, I was told that in the past, patients submitting forms three to four hours late were still accommodated--yet in my case, that flexibility was not extended. I was referred to your office by a good friend, and not to mention, this is a small and close-knit community. Experiences like this travel quickly by word of mouth, and I had sincerely hoped for a warmer welcome. I left the practice feeling disappointed and unwelcome. As a new patient--and one planning to bring a family of four to your care--I had hoped for a more understanding and patient-centered approach. It left me wondering: What does it take for your practice to retain and acquire new patients? Unfortunately, this experience has led me to reconsider bringing myself or my family to your office. Great doctor (doctor Wilkes) The front staff is ALWAYS friendly, super efficient. The front literally handles your issue right away and always gets back to you right away. This is something I normally don't see in a health facility. The type of care is honestly above and beyond. They treat you like you are the most important client. Money HUNGRY people. I was a patient (customer?) for 4 years and they do everything to take your money. Examples: - you schedule a preventative care visit that is covered by your insurance but if you answer any question about your health, they consider it as an office visit and charge you a fee - if they don't see you for a couple of months, they will ask that you come to the office to get a Rx refilled, even though you have been taking the same medication for years. If you disagree, Sarah will hang up on you. If you complain, someone will tell you Sabrina (supposed office manager) will call you but nobody calls. Even the owner does not call you though you sent an email to complain the poor treatment received on the phone. They don't even bother. Instead, they send you a letter discharging you of their 'care'. No apology. Nothing. DO NOT GO THERE unless you are ready to spend a $250+ membership fee (yes, when you think about it it sounds like Disney) and pay fees for things you were not even aware of until you receive a bill. The care quality is terrible. They make you see a nurse who acts as if she is a doctor because you can never get an appointment with the actual MD. How is it possible for a nurse to diagnose diseases and write Rx? Update: now openly threatening me online. Money hungry and bullies. Do you want a lawsuit for defamation? read more

I had a laundry list of issues to go over with Carrie and she listened to every single one. Her bedside manner is incredible and she makes you feel comfortable. Highly recommend Dr Joe Lennon! He's the absolutely best and adjusts me with zero discomfort, pain or side effects. Dr Lennon understands the body so well and always knows right where I need adjusting. He utilizes modalities such as stim and concentrated compression work which has benefited my recovery. This office is only interested in the extra fees they can generate. My parents were patients of Dr. Wilkes for eleven years, and he refused to give them the paperwork they needed to move into an assisted living facility. Shame on him, as they were seen by him, the paperwork was requested, and finally, they decided to change providers, after a month of not receiving the paperwork. All Dr. Wilkes cared about was receiving the $600 annual fee from my parents. He didn't care whether they had the correct paperwork to be admitted into the assisted living facility. They were patients under his care, when the paperwork was requested, but he cares only for the extra dollar. I followed up, numerous times, about the paperwork, as did the Director of Resident Health Services at University Village Thousand Oaks. I would never recommend his services. read more

He explained my illness in detail and the various treatment options. He was both medically astute with up to date best practice and genuinely caring for me as a person. I have also been treated by Dr. Tashman and Dr. Shani. Both were of the same caliber as Dr. Wilkes. How amazing and helpful to have all these doctors, with different specializations, under one roof. They had face to face consultations about my condition, each bringing their expertise to help me. For one year previously I suffered with a muscle and nerve ailment that many other good doctors were not able to resolve. But through Summit Health Group, I have seen my body recover and am grateful for healing. I am also grateful for learning how to better care for my body from the doctors. 2019 When we first became patients of Dr. Wilkes' office in Newbury Park (back in 2010?), we appreciated the care and attention that was given to us, and the family atmosphere it had. Then when they decided to create a membership of $80.00 for a family, per year, we were fine with that as we were told it gave us discounts on medicine/prescriptions (even though we had insurance), however, we were also under the impression at that time that this membership was OPTIONAL, which we have most recently (as of 2018) learned is not the case. Now that Summit Health Group is a thing... They wanted to charge my family an ridiculous amount (despite having insurance and having to pay a co-pay) just to see or speak to your doctor. The membership fee is high, but I understand they are catering to a new clientele that they seem to prefer in the Westlake Area. So, sadly, we have lost a family doctor(s) who we trusted (Dr. Carrie and Dr. Wanika) and have had to move onto a new family practice that is not out for JUST our money, but actually cares about my family and our various medical needs. Our new Family doctor is helpful, they do not nickle and dime you. When our new doctor requested our medical records, they were ignored for over three Months, I finally called and was told our records were not in office and with a THIRD Party and I had to go through this third party to receive our medical records. So if you had to move to another doctor and fill out the forms for tour medical records to be transferred, they will not do it, they will ignore your new doctor. The other one star reviews in relation to Summit Health Group are spot on. This is NOT a family health group anymore, keep that in mind. They also could care less about working with you if you are a combat vet. A side note about Dr. Carrie and Dr. Wanika. Both are AMAZING and they both get a **5 star review**, they listens to your needs and give you the time and attention you need. They do not rush you out the door or make you feel like you are just another number in that office. As for the front desk, there are mostly sweet, patient and considerate girls (Ashley and Brittany - they are SO nice and helpful). Recently, however, with some of the, not all, new staff, the experience either via phone or in person has been rude, condescending and impatient when met with anyone who has questions about the costs, or becomes upset that they cannot see their doctor any longer unless you pay up. --- Update 2020 My spouse is a disabled combat Vet and is having issues with the VA. Because Summit Health Group tended to my husband's physical health issues, we are in need of Statements from the Doctors who have seen him and cared for him. Anyway I should not be terribly shocked that they refused, I had a feeling that my expectation of any help from them would be flat out refused and it was. It's simple. I went in broken, and came out repaired. I love the team's knowledge, attention to detail, and personal investment in each patient. Each treatment is completely tailored to the individual, and they genuinely care about your health and well-being. I was not comfortable getting Chiropractic treatment. I was self conscious and nervous, and frankly scared about being adjusted, but Dr. Shani and his team helped me deal with that mental barrier as well as my physical injuries. If you are pregnant or dealing with post-pregnancy back pain, then this place will make a world of a difference. The team at Summit Health genuinely care about their patients and are always so sweet to talk to. I started coming for chiro visits when I was pregnant due to my extreme back pain and shooting pains that I was getting down my leg. Not only did they fix the issue, they made me stronger to prepare for the big day. Once I had my baby, I kept going to the chiropractor and even getting some physical therapy sessions to ensure that my body went back to "normal" in the healthiest way possible and to help me with the new back and neck pain that came from holding my baby on one side of my hip all the time. They completely took away my pain and I don't have any more back issues now. If I ever do need help with my body again in the future, I will absolutely be going back to Summit. read more

Was diagnosed with a painful case of "shoulder impingement" in March and was referred to Dr. Daniel Tashman for PT. This was my first ever experience with PT and I was a bit skeptical about it's effectiveness. I could not have been more mistaken. Working with Dr. Dan over the past 3 months has been an amazing experience and my shoulder has improved dramatically. Dr. Tashman is very knowledgeable but more importantly really cares about the outcomes for his patients. I "graduated" last week but Dr. Dan was nice enough to give me an assortment of bands and recommended exercises to do at home to keep the shoulder strong. I live in Mississippi and there are not very many doctors in our town. Being from the valley, I had previously visited Summit Health Group over the summer last year to get tested for COVID-19. They did a great job with that experience, so I decided to book a telehealth appointment to address a primary care concern. The medical assistants at the front desk were very friendly and made booking this appointment seamless! Being able to visit with a qualified doctor, virtually, who takes the time to dive into my concerns and come up with a detailed plan of action is something that I value when looking for a new physician. Dr. Sadler did just this! She is very attentive and detailed and I would definitely recommend her and this office to anyone looking for the wide variety of services they offer! read more
