If I could give them more stars I would. I had the best experience with summit subaru. They took really good care of me and made all the numbers work in my favor. I originally went to a subaru dealership in Temecula and they treated me so poorly. I'm so happy that my sister recommended Summit. I would like to thank Juan, Todd, Alex, Romeo, and Travis for making my experience less stressful. They went above and beyond for me. I will refer all my friends and family here if they're looking into purchasing a new car.

Earlier this month (Feb. 2026) I found a 2021 Forester at this dealership that had been sitting on their lot since the beginning of October. I came prepared with a $12,000 down payment and let them know I was financing through my Firefighters credit union (My family's benefit for my father's service). I gave them the rate I was approved for and everything; however, they were incredibly pushy and were asking for all my information. When I asked if providing this would result in a hard credit inquiry, Todd (salesperson) explicitly stated that "no it won't be a hard inquiry, don't worry I get that a lot." Two days later I got a notice through Experian that I had a hard inquiry on my record. So, they blatantly lied to my face which violates the Fair Credit Reporting Act requiring "permissible purpose" for a credit pull. Next, their general manager, Romeo, came out with an Out-The-Door estimate over $8,000 higher than that MSRP. They tried to pull a bait-and-switch by advertising the price of the car at $22,744 but REFUSING to sell it unless I paid for $2,490 in 'mandatory' add-ons (Cerami-Seal and Clear Protect). I also asked to see an itemized breakdown of the Government Fee, to which the GM said "no, not until we get to financing." I did my research on what those fees should cost, and I was getting gouged there too. He was incredibly rude and hostile. The next day, I sent a professional email with my fair negotiation with market backed research. I pointed out that their own website says the Cerami-Seal and Clear Protect are OPTIONAL to consumers and cited California Vehicle Code § 11713.1 which requires the dealer to honor the advertised price. They replied to this email with a dismissive and petty response telling me to "enjoy my new car" elsewhere. Jokes on them, the car still sits on the lot, and the price has dropped by almost $1,000, proving that my assessment was correct all along. It may have been my first time buying a car from a dealership, but I am not the idiot they took me for and treated me as. I also would have thought being a first responder family member, I would have received a minimum amount of respect. So, if you value transparency, honesty, and professional conduct, I recommend taking your business to a dealership that respects California consumer protection laws and its customers.

When I finally made up my mind, my car was clean, gassed up and ready to go- So was my paperwork. I was literally in and out in about 10 minutes! Thanks, Isaac!!! I'll probably spend more time taking it through the drive-thru car wash. There was absolutely no pressure to buy anything extra either. Even though I initially didn't want the warranty, Isaac answered all my questions and I ended up getting it because it made sense for me and gave me peace of mind for the next five years--not because anyone pressured me into it. They even helped get my rate down a little, which I really appreciated. And most importantly, I LOVE my new car!! I'm so happy with my choice and with the whole experience. I drove away excited about my new car instead of exhausted from buying one. Highly recommend AutoCity! Great people, zero pressure and such an easy experience!

While we liked it overall, we felt the price was a little high based on its cosmetic condition, so we decided to keep looking. A few days later, the salesperson contacted me and asked what price I was looking for. After discussing numbers, he texted me an out-the-door price that worked for me if I came back the next day. I made one final counteroffer, which he said the owner declined. I responded that we would still come the next day, and he replied, "I'll be here." At no point did he tell me that the previously discussed out-the-door price was no longer available. My son and I drove approximately three hours back to the dealership expecting to purchase the vehicle. After we arrived, we were told the owner would not honor the previously discussed price and that the dealership was sticking to the advertised price. We immediately left. The issue wasn't that my final counteroffer wasn't accepted. The issue was that we drove six hours round trip based on what we reasonably believed was an agreed-upon price, only to find out after arriving that it would not be honored. I understand that negotiations don't always end in a sale, and I don't expect every offer to be accepted. However, I do expect clear communication and respect for a customer's time. Had the dealership simply told me before I made the drive that the original offer was no longer available, I never would have made the trip. If you're traveling from out of town, I strongly recommend getting a written buyer's order or purchase agreement approved by management before making the drive. It could save you hours of driving and a great deal of frustration.

I was not able to take my new vehicle on Monday because they said they had to do a "safety check" on it and it would be delivered to me the next day. By 2:00 the next day I had not heard anything about the car being delivered, so I emailed the finance guy, of which Angel replied he was with another customer and could I come out after work to pick up. I said no that I work a 2nd job (which was explained in the process of purchasing) and had to be there at 4:30. Another employee ended up bringing my car out to me but when it got here it has an extra 100 miles on it since I test drove the night before? Where did they go in my car. Of course no reply to that question being asked. I will say Cameron in the Finance Dept has been awesome in communication, even though it is not his responsibility he has replied to my concerns (even on his days off) and passed the messages on to me. I am now awaiting for the Manager of sales to call me back with some explanations, funny though I got a copy of a "survey" I supposedly took about Angel that of course said everything was great, I never answered a survey because surely my answers would have been different. Guess when your a single lady going to make a purchase they feel they can "pull the rug over your eyes" and take advantage of you. Wrong female to attempt that with. I brought my 2005 Ford Expedition to this dealership for a diagnostic and possible repair. I was told they would not work on the vehicle because it was more than 20 years old, but they could at least perform a diagnostic. I asked why a Ford dealership wouldn't service a Ford vehicle. Guillermo responded that it wasn't "their vehicle" and that they don't work on vehicles over 20 years old. I replied, "It literally says Ford on the side of the vehicle," and then asked, while pointing to his shirt, "This is a Ford dealership, right?" After that exchange, instead of simply explaining the policy, he changed his position and told me they would no longer even perform the diagnostic. I understand that dealerships can have policies regarding older vehicles, and if that's the policy, that's their decision. My issue was the way the situation was handled. The interaction felt unprofessional, dismissive, and unnecessarily confrontational. This experience reflected poorly on both the dealership and the Ford brand. So in less then a year, last Saturday, sure enough, the car broke down. And of course, it was an "electrical warning please see a Hyundai dealer as soon as possible" situation on my dash. I request to have it towed, it's towed to the wrong dealership. I try to get a hold of someone on Monday about the status only to be told there was no longer vehicles and that it wouldn't be able to be seen for 7-10 business days and that they "didn't know what to tell me" when I stressed how I needed a car just to get to work. I had left a message with El Cajon Hyundai because I was informed it was sent to wrong dealership and hoped someone there could help me faster with it being seen and getting a loner. Thank goodness I got a call from John, the service manager informing me if I had it towed to them, they could see it significantly faster and get me in a loner. National city Hyundai calls me back saying they have a "courtesy vehicle" that they "didn't have" to give me but since the situation was dire they were "making an exception". They reserved me an EV since that's what I had. Said they'd keep it for 2 days for me. Next day I'm driving down to get it only to be informed they gave it away the day they told me they'd hold it. Upon arrival I got ahold of John who explained if I had it towed there the same day the chance of them being open would not be high. However looking at the schedule for the following day it could be seen. I have it towed there. I'm lucky enough to be off the following day. I waited until around 11 and reached out several times to see if the car had even made it in to be seen. Mind you this was 4-5 calls. Finally I get a text from a person named Juan saying the car had finally been checked in. It's 11:47 at this point. I text back and explain my frustration that multiple dealerships don't have a sense of urgency to help me in this situation and I've been out of a car since last week. He informs me "as John said" they need 1-2 days to diagnose. Wait, what? What's all this about the schedule being slow the next day that it could be seen? And I'm also told there isn't a loaner option. Furthering my frustration. So yes, I went off. Considering the car being less then a year old, paying over $1200 a month for this vehicle, and now incurring cost to have a rental out of my own pocket I'm informed by finally getting a call from John. They can get me into a loaner. However I have to pay out of pocket despite this entire situation. Juan then calls me saying he's spoken to John and I had been told there was a chance it would take another day or two to see the car and they had other cars with higher priority. If I had been told this and not told "considering how slow the schedule is tomorrow, I don't see why we can't get it looked at." I'm learning that Hyundai in general cannot be trusted on the quality of their vehicles or how they take care of high paying customers in situations like this. If your car breaks down just know there's a chance it will be taken to the wrong dealership. Know they will promise you a loner AS AN EXCEPTION and they DONT HAVE TO. That you can be told considering the next days schedule being slow your car can be looked at only to be told the following day it may not be seen, and there's no loaners available. And if you NEED a car, it will be at your own cost since they may not be able to see it despite you not having a car for almost a week. BEWARE of Hyundai of National City's loaner manager Andy, and the Hyundai of El Cajon's reliability to get the situation made an exception for you like another dealership offered. Even if it's not an EV. Even having the diagnosis code for a major factory recall on your model car and same year, there's no sense of urgency with your individual situation. You're just "in the que" and they will see it when they get to it. BEWARE of buying a Hyundai EV. Brand new. Even if they tell you it will be covered under warranty no matter what happens with defects. These cars are clearly unreliable. The name is unreliable and the quality of cars they sell clearly have issues. Beware.
