I want to express my gratitude. I bought my Lexus CT200 from these guys. It's a great car with excellent service. They are always friendly and helpful. I'm absolutely happy and satisfied with my car. If you urgently need a car and don't know whom to trust, you can confidently rely on these guys.

Auto City once again has can't me through with a good quality car a great price and gold key customer service. Dmitry took excellent care of my brother. There is no BS with this dealer just friendly service and taking care of business. I can't imagine doing business at any other dealer. The facility is clean warm and welcoming. The staff across the board was great. And they have a quality inventory which in my opinion is far superior to 97% of the other pre-owned dealers we visited. If you want a no pressure buying experience that concludes with a great value product... Do yourself a favor and go straight here.

Ask the Community - Auto City

Are the prices firm or can you haggle for the best deal?

Hello Courtney. Thank you for the question. We are a no haggle store where you get our best price upfront. We price our cars very competitively, but what is even more important is that we focus on reconditioning and quality. So you save even more…

    Good prices on trzade ins?

Yes! In my experience they gave me the Kelly Blue Book price of my trade in. Gave the car a quick detail inside and out just to make sure I would get the best bang for my buck.

In my years, I've done business with nearly a dozen dealerships. From the basic, no-frills financing, to this all-inclusive warranted financing, I've experienced it all. Toyota of El Cajon is, without question, the best I've ever experienced, even long after the contract ink has dried. There was an issue with a less-common extended coverage that didn't go as expected. Jose, my service advisor, did everything he could to get it resolved. When he hit a wall, Laura B. got involved. Laura is what some businesses refer to as "a fixer". She relayed what she was doing and who was involved. The list was not a short one. When things were ironed out, she was able to obtain results that kept the dealership and Toyota in good standing by acting in good faith and resolved the warranted coverage to my satisfaction. I will continue to support both Toyota and Toyota of El Cajon!

I brought my vehicle in for a routine oil change, something this dealership has performed many times over the years. After the service, I was informed that the oil drain plug had been stripped and that I now needed to replace the entire oil pan at a cost of approximately $740. Prior to this oil change, there were no leaks, no warning signs, and no issues with the oil pan or drain plug. The damage was discovered only after the dealership performed the service. It is difficult to understand how a routine maintenance item could suddenly become my financial responsibility when the problem arose during the oil change. What is most disappointing is not just the cost, but the lack of accountability. After being a loyal customer for a decade, I expected the dealership to stand behind its work and make a genuine effort to resolve the situation fairly. I received a call from Mr Anderson informing me that he would take care of labor and I would need to pay for parts. I informed Mr Anderson that I did not feel comfortable taking my vehicle back to them since they were not truthful for the beginning. I told him where I would be taking my vehicle and he told me to keep him posted of charges and that he would take care of labor. I gave him the verbal quote and he had no issues other than if the dealership would be charging me a diagnostic test. I told him no and if they did I would give him a call back. Vehicle was repaired and invoice sent to Mr Anderson. Two weeks later and he has not paid for the repair. Customer loyalty should matter. Unfortunately, this experience has caused me to lose confidence in a service department I trusted for many years. I hope the dealership reviews its service procedures and how it handles situations like this so other long-time customers are treated more fairly

I brought my 2005 Ford Expedition to this dealership for a diagnostic and possible repair. I was told they would not work on the vehicle because it was more than 20 years old, but they could at least perform a diagnostic. I asked why a Ford dealership wouldn't service a Ford vehicle. Guillermo responded that it wasn't "their vehicle" and that they don't work on vehicles over 20 years old. I replied, "It literally says Ford on the side of the vehicle," and then asked, while pointing to his shirt, "This is a Ford dealership, right?" After that exchange, instead of simply explaining the policy, he changed his position and told me they would no longer even perform the diagnostic. I understand that dealerships can have policies regarding older vehicles, and if that's the policy, that's their decision. My issue was the way the situation was handled. The interaction felt unprofessional, dismissive, and unnecessarily confrontational. This experience reflected poorly on both the dealership and the Ford brand. Based on my experience, I would recommend taking your vehicle elsewhere if you're looking for professional customer service. -Chase

I was able to safely maneuver the vehicle onto the shoulder, but the situation could have ended much worse. What happened afterward was equally concerning. The dealership showed very little urgency or genuine concern about the severity of the mechanical failure. Instead of conducting a thorough inspection, they took the truck to a shop across the street for a quick repair and immediately returned it to the lot for sale at the same price of $30,000. Their priority appeared to be removing the vehicle from the accident scene as quickly as possible, seemingly to prevent the incident from appearing on the vehicle's record.Even after nearly experiencing a catastrophic failure, the owner/finance manager showed no willingness to negotiate or acknowledge the seriousness of the situation(I was obviously was not Going to buy it after but I wanted to see how they would handle the situation because they acted so careless) . Their focus was on the sale, not on customer safety or transparency. If you plan to purchase a vehicle here, please ensure it is inspected by a trusted, independent mechanic. So in less then a year, last Saturday, sure enough, the car broke down. And of course, it was an "electrical warning please see a Hyundai dealer as soon as possible" situation on my dash. I request to have it towed, it's towed to the wrong dealership. I try to get a hold of someone on Monday about the status only to be told there was no longer vehicles and that it wouldn't be able to be seen for 7-10 business days and that they "didn't know what to tell me" when I stressed how I needed a car just to get to work. I had left a message with El Cajon Hyundai because I was informed it was sent to wrong dealership and hoped someone there could help me faster with it being seen and getting a loner. Thank goodness I got a call from John, the service manager informing me if I had it towed to them, they could see it significantly faster and get me in a loner. National city Hyundai calls me back saying they have a "courtesy vehicle" that they "didn't have" to give me but since the situation was dire they were "making an exception". They reserved me an EV since that's what I had. Said they'd keep it for 2 days for me. Next day I'm driving down to get it only to be informed they gave it away the day they told me they'd hold it. Upon arrival I got ahold of John who explained if I had it towed there the same day the chance of them being open would not be high. However looking at the schedule for the following day it could be seen. I have it towed there. I'm lucky enough to be off the following day. I waited until around 11 and reached out several times to see if the car had even made it in to be seen. Mind you this was 4-5 calls. Finally I get a text from a person named Juan saying the car had finally been checked in. It's 11:47 at this point. I text back and explain my frustration that multiple dealerships don't have a sense of urgency to help me in this situation and I've been out of a car since last week. He informs me "as John said" they need 1-2 days to diagnose. Wait, what? What's all this about the schedule being slow the next day that it could be seen? And I'm also told there isn't a loaner option. Furthering my frustration. So yes, I went off. Considering the car being less then a year old, paying over $1200 a month for this vehicle, and now incurring cost to have a rental out of my own pocket I'm informed by finally getting a call from John. They can get me into a loaner. However I have to pay out of pocket despite this entire situation. Juan then calls me saying he's spoken to John and I had been told there was a chance it would take another day or two to see the car and they had other cars with higher priority. If I had been told this and not told "considering how slow the schedule is tomorrow, I don't see why we can't get it looked at." I'm learning that Hyundai in general cannot be trusted on the quality of their vehicles or how they take care of high paying customers in situations like this. If your car breaks down just know there's a chance it will be taken to the wrong dealership. Know they will promise you a loner AS AN EXCEPTION and they DONT HAVE TO. That you can be told considering the next days schedule being slow your car can be looked at only to be told the following day it may not be seen, and there's no loaners available. And if you NEED a car, it will be at your own cost since they may not be able to see it despite you not having a car for almost a week. BEWARE of Hyundai of National City's loaner manager Andy, and the Hyundai of El Cajon's reliability to get the situation made an exception for you like another dealership offered. Even if it's not an EV. Even having the diagnosis code for a major factory recall on your model car and same year, there's no sense of urgency with your individual situation. You're just "in the que" and they will see it when they get to it. BEWARE of buying a Hyundai EV. Brand new. Even if they tell you it will be covered under warranty no matter what happens with defects. These cars are clearly unreliable. The name is unreliable and the quality of cars they sell clearly have issues. Beware everyone. Beware.

When I pushed back, my salesperson Todd insisted "we're not making any money off this," which honestly felt condescending and dishonest. This line is such a dumb things to say to customers. I came back to this location because I bought my Forester in 2018 here. Todd also made a point of insulting the payment numbers I was aiming for, telling me they were too low and sounded like "leasing payments" -- as if wanting a reasonable monthly payment was something to be embarrassed about. It came across as a tactic to make me feel unsure of myself. I understand dealer add-ons exist, but presenting them as mandatory rather than optional, and using a script clearly designed to shut down objections, is a shady way to do business. It made an already stressful car-buying process feel adversarial instead of collaborative. I won't be returning, and I'd encourage anyone shopping here to ask upfront about the add-ons like ClearProtect and DOWC PAINT & FABRIC. He went from we can't remove it to "giving it to me at cost" by giving me a discount on it. I hate the dance of how they have to keep going back to the manager to "ask". The manager was unwilling to make a deal because they're not making any money. There is truth to that because still today, the car is still on the lot and they are still not making any money off it. Remember this is not the only dealership in San Diego. Not all operates like this shady place. If you feel off about it, don't sign. I was able to get the 2026 Subaru Forester that essentially costs more than the model I was looking at Summit and was still able to get it for a better deal at Kearny Mesa Subaru. They also offered a way better financing than my credit union and what Summit offered. I got the "low leasing payment" that I asked for as a payment for a financed car. Way better buying experience! Added bonus, they have AC at their location. The facility isn't as run downed as Summit.
