Short story: Yes, I recommend these guys and it was well worth going to East County for my "new" used vehicle, and most noteworthy, the salesperson Dina, who made the process smooth, friendly, and efficient and did not trigger me at all! Long story: What do I mean trigger me? Lemme tell you--I hate high-pressure sales! Most people just find it annoying, but I have some kind of allergic reaction to it when it strikes me as overly manipulative or even like some form of bullying. Maybe because a couple of my first jobs were in sketchy sales (Cutco Knives anyone?--I lasted a whole week!). So yeah, I have kinda gone-off on sales people in the past. I'm not proud of this, it isn't comfortable for anyone, me, the salesperson, or my spouse, hehe... And with the old trope about the used-car salesman, I did a good job just avoiding the dealerships completely. But, with no current hand-me-down vehicles from family available, and my old car deemed a total loss-- I guess it was finally time to get on with what everyone else does as competent adults and just go and buy a car already! My strategy in dealing with myself and the car-buying process was to research online first. This actually worked out better than I would have thought. I used the truecar website link my insurance (Hartford) sent. It had a solid search function, and I was able to get a good sense of what was available in my area, the history and price of different vehicles, and a general sense of how much the taxes and fees would be (and therefore what could be a reasonable amount to negotiate/expect to pay out the door). In this way I was able to pre-shop around for cars, and educate myself on what would be a fair price. None of this is probably new to you experienced car buyers out there, but I think it could be very helpful to some of you, if you are a young or older newbie like myself. Anyway, the car I was interested in was at East County Pre-Owned Car Superstore, and so I arranged to go out there, meet Dina, and go for a test drive. Like anyone practicing new "adulting" skills, I brought my mom along! Well, she drove me, then played a quietly supportive wingman as I got on with the car-buying process. Dina, the salesperson, was easygoing and personable, and I thought she struck a nice balance of being helpful and leading the process forward without pressure. Um, as a side note about salespeople... yes, I tend to avoid them if that is an option, but I also have a dear friend who happens to be a very successful salesperson, and I have had positive experiences with salespeople too. What I've come to realize is that sales, at it's best, is a win-win situation, one in which the price is fair for both parties, and the salesperson helps you find and purchase a quality product that they believe in, you want, and that will serve you well. I feel like Dina is this kind of salesperson. Car shopping/buying takes time and energy to figure out, and I if you're like me you will need to do your homework online first. And if the car you want is in their lot, Dina is someone I wholeheartedly recommend to help you through the process. I came back to the dealership a few days after buying my car so they could replace a small piece of trim that was missing and they had ordered. Dina cheerfully snapped the new part on, and when I told her that the day before, my husband had already put a scratch on the car (he was so bummed and I was just happy it was him and not me:) she called her husband and asked him to come by and buff it out. He did, and made it look so much better! That was very nice, and very much in the spirit of wanting a happy customer even after the sale was made. I purchased a 2016 Chevy Colorado from East County Used Car Superstore about four months ago, and unfortunately my experience has been extremely frustrating from the start. Just two days after buying the truck, the check engine light came on. I had to take time out of my schedule to bring it back in, and they told me they needed to send it to another shop for inspection. While it was there, I stopped by to grab my backpack out of the truck and was told by the other shop that my vehicle was ready and I was good to go, so I took it. Shortly after leaving, I began hearing a very loud squeaking noise coming from the truck. When I called the service manager to explain what happened, he became upset with me for picking up the vehicle, even though I was told it was ready. I was never informed that I needed additional approval to take my own vehicle. When I brought the truck back in for the squeaking issue, they kept it for about six hours before saying they found and fixed the problem. The noise stopped for a month or two, but then it came back. Around the same time, I noticed the AC stopped working and now only blows hot air. All of this has happened within about 6,000 miles of driving. In addition, after the initial service visit, I noticed a cover panel near the front passenger-side footwell (covering electrical components) was missing. I was told they couldn't locate the part, and it has never been replaced. I also recently discovered that there was no jack included in the truck, even though one should have been provided. When I recently called to ask what repair had originally been done for the squeaking issue, I was simply told that my warranty had expired and they could not help me. Throughout this process, I've felt dismissed and treated rudely, and I've been sent in circles instead of given clear answers. I understand that used vehicles can have issues, but the combination of immediate mechanical problems, missing parts, lack of communication, and poor customer service has made this a very disappointing experience. I hope others carefully consider this before purchasing a vehicle here. read more

Title: Dishonest and Sloppy - Do NOT Buy From This Dealership I purchased a van from East County Preowned Superstore, and the entire experience has been a nightmare. The vehicle was delivered dirty, with trash under the seats, a broken window knob, a non-functioning seatbelt, and all four tires cracked and dry-rotted. To top it off, I was only given one key with no fob -- none of this was disclosed up front. The rear cab AC makes a loud, concerning noise, and I was told the tire pressure monitoring system (TPMS) would be fixed -- but it wasn't. The TPMS warning light is still on, even after I followed up. When I asked why the van wasn't cleaned, I was told they don't detail commercial vehicles. That's absurd and unprofessional. This was also an out-of-state purchase, and I was promised the title and documents would be mailed immediately -- a week later, nothing had arrived, and I had to chase them down for updates. Bottom line: this dealership is careless, untrustworthy, and completely lacks follow-through. If you value safety, honesty, or customer service -- stay far away. read more

For starters, Buying a Pre-Owned car for me was a bit nerve-racking. Had looked at many ads and many seller reviews as well as car make and model reviews. Got a phone call shortly after 9:00am and set up an appointment for 11:00am, same day. When I arrived I met Salesman I would later, same day, purchase from . He told me he had sold cars 30 years, 10 years with Easy County Preowned Superstore. He listened to everything I said that was important to me and did not try to dissuade me nor to spend more money than would have been smart for me. Was excited about my new car ...and even now after driving for 6 days, I hope this feeling lasts. I think this car is wonderful. It drives great, and I am very happy. Would I buy from them again? Would I recommend them? Everything I have experienced so far, including financing they helped me with... because it also Included discussion and evaluation of how much ai would deposit and what portion amount will be paid monthly. The only surprise for me was learning I do not actually hold the car title until with monthly paying, car is paid in full. East County Preowned Superstore, Thank you very much! At the time of sale, a "due bill" was signed, acknowledging that the defective rear view mirrors would be replaced once the necessary parts arrived--a repair that was expected to be completed within a reasonable timeframe. Despite my repeated attempts to follow up (three times with no response), the issue remains unresolved. This is not only frustrating but raises serious legal and safety concerns. Key Concerns: 1. So, I previously wrote a glowing review as I purchased a vehicle here and my experience was great! UNTIL IT WAS NOT! Everyone seems so transparent, sincere and friendly, and then the deal is sealed..... My car was indeed in great shape and I did not negotiate on the price, what a fool I was! My salesman, Alex, assured me the car was serviced, which turned out to be complete BS as I found out later, as all they did was change the oil( or did they?) and possibly top off the fluids.. so I get the car home and all seems fine but it was idling very rough and I call Alex and I tell him that I would like a receipt for the service done especially the oil change so I can start a file on the car and he tells me they don't keep records on the work done? Huh? Ok?!? so I make an appointment at the local Hyundai dealership for an oil change and an inspection so I can start a maintenance file on my car and it turns out it needs many things, mostly maintenance related, but it turns out to be almost $1000! I contact East County preowned superstore and they nonchalantly refer me to some guy named Carlos who I call and he apparently has no idea who I am. He has never heard of me and he is very rude to me and says that because the work was not done at their facility that I am basically out of luck! The very unprofessional conversation Lasted all of about 15 seconds before he hung up on me! I subsequently emailed the dealership twice about the situation and simply asked for a response and just desire to get a response, even if it meant that I would not receive any compensation, but a simple apology for the way I was spoken to by Carlos would've been nice and any kind of acknowledgment but absolutely nothing was forthcoming. Therefore, I absolutely do not and will not recommend them!!! I would no do business with them ever again and I suggest you do not either because they obviously are phony and not trustworthy and simply want your business and once they get your money, they don't want anything to do with you ever again so spend your hard earned money elsewhere, these guys are simply shady at best! Initially, things started off well -- Alex, the sales rep I was working with, was helpful and answered my questions. However, the experience quickly went downhill when it came time to discuss pricing. When I mentioned that I wanted to take some time to look around before making a final decision, another staff member, Sai, became noticeably aggressive and dismissive. Instead of respecting my decision, he told me to "get out and go purchase somewhere else." I was shocked by how quickly the attitude changed simply because I wasn't ready to commit on the spot. I did my research and found the truck had been stolen and then bought by East county off of copart.com (auction site) for a price of $39750, a simple search of the vin number produced this information. I understand a dealer has to make money and I offered to pay $45000 for the truck. I was told the by the salesman( per his ceo) they couldn't drop the price and the out door price would be $50199. Ooooof! I really hate writing one star reviews, but this dealership(at least on the used car side) is equivalent to a sticky table at a restaurant. It felt gross. My mom had gone a few days previous to my going with her and I knew from her description that it was not going to end well. She went with my brother, initially, to look at a used Prius she saw online. The car reeked of smoke and was not in great condition, so she passed on that, but I was more disturbed by the sales person, Kyle, and how she expressed to me that he kept addressing my brother and not her, convinced it was him who was looking for the car and not my mom. Heh, the patriarchy, am I right? It helps to at least ASK who is buying the car if you want to land a sale and honestly, it's just good manners. I went back with my mom yesterday because Kyle had suggested another car and my mom wanted to go back and see it, despite the weird vibes. Kyle was busy somewhere on the lot, so we test drove the car with Juan. Juan was very nice and personable, to be fair, but when we expressed that we liked the car, he passed us off to Kyle to negotiate. The negotiation process was a joke. Seriously. The car was 14k(10 year old & changeToyota Corolla with a low 52k miles). We loved the fact that it was a Toyota, low mileage, one owner. The car had some dings and scratches externally, the seats were stained in areas, and the inside was very basic. It it was 2012, so this makes sense, but not for 14k.I suggested $12,500 to begin negotiations and Kyle said that is a START, but insisted the car is in great condition, new to their stock, and was a good price. I asked him to see what he can do. He came back with no real negotiation and a number circled that was over 16k with "taxes, registration, and extras".
