In a sea of taxi/car apps in San Francisco it's easy to get confused between all of them. I've used InstantCab three times myself and once with a friend and am a fan. I like Lyft because it's a little cheaper and because their drivers have awesome personalities and honestly make the experience seem like you're riding with a friend, but it can be so difficult to find a Lyft driver. I like InstantCab because I've never ran into an issue where there wasn't a driver nearby. InstantCab obviously pulls together taxi drivers and people driving their own cars. They also offer promo codes for like $5 off rides for time to time on Facebook and such. As for the drivers' personalities, I had one friendly outgoing driver and a really nice taxi driver as well. InstantCab makes getting around or from the city easy. Just remember to check your app to adjust the tip right after your ride is complete or else it'll default to 20% after five minutes. read more

I just started out as an InstantCab driver and could not have been more pleased with both the interview process, the friendliness of the people who work there, as well as their genuine commitment to improving the service for their customers and drivers. I've researched a lot of the app-based driver services (there's so many), and InstantCab has hit that magical combo of great service at the right price. Others either are too slow, too expensive, or weird payment system. Live in Laguna Honda/Twin-Peaks and worried it'll take forever to get a cab to come in the evening, try InstantCab. Want to go from Richmond to SOMA for ~$12 + tip, try InstantCab. Not sure why the other reviewer was taken back by the company wanting to run his driving record. As a customer, I'd damn well like to know the company is doing some basic checks on their drivers before sending them out. I also thinks its the law. I am a HUGE fan of instantcab. I don't know why more people don't use it. Sure Uber is nice and all, but it is a lot more expensive and SLOW! My average wait for InstantCab has been 5 minutes, and it is literally a lifesaver on nights like coachella and halloween. It is the ONLY taxi service that will get back to me within a decent time. taxi magic and uber both SUCK! i kind of dont want to write this review because i dont want instantcab to get overcrowded but i love it too much. My sister and her son were in town, and we ordered an instantcab to get a ride to a pizza place for dinner. When I spoke to the driver, I let him know there were 5 of us and he said he could accommodate us easily. My nephew said, "maybe he's got a van." When the driver arrived we all trooped outside and saw only a limo. I called the driver and he said, "yeah that's me in the limo". Our guests were pretty impressed! ;) My brother and I jokingly played it off, we said "oh yeah, we always take a limo to go get pizza, its practically an SF tradition" ... Instantcab made our night pretty darned special. My nephew will be talking about the day we watched dolphins playing in the waves off Baker beach, and rode in a limo, for quite some time, I'm sure. :) read more

I used InstantCab for the first time on New Years Eve- it was awesome. My driver Tsering came very promptly (about 5minutes) and got us to our destination without a hitch. His car was clean and smelled nice, comfortable seats and he was super polite. Overall a fantastic experience and really easy transaction - I got a $10 off code so my fare ended up being free and I just gave a tip! I love that it is automatically calculated a 20% tip so I don't have to do any math. It is what I tip anyways so everything was effortless! Made my night great to have that hassle taken off my plate. Will be using InstantCab every time I am in the city!! read more

Don't even bother- just use Uber. We got a promo code for Summon and decided to try to use it. The community outreach coordinator found out I got a promo code and sent me an email asking why we were interested in Summon, getting some feedback from the potential users. I told her we were excited to use Summon because we use taxi and ride services often through my work and with my friends- my work has a specific expense account for ride services like these. When I finally tried to use the app, it simply said "No drivers available" not just once, but for FOUR DAYS STRAIGHT. When I tried to get back in touch with the girl I had been emailing with about the service, she stopped responding to my emails. I never got a ride, I just deleted the app and went back to Uber. read more

I downloaded your app after receiving a promo card at the How Weird festival, and was excited to try it out. However, I was extremely disappointed. Not only did your company charge me 50 cents for NOTHING, you gave no indication of the charge, and your closest driver was in San Bruno. If one of your customers request a car in Mission, how is the closest available driver in San Bruno? Even after realizing how far away my assigned driver was, the driver kept insisting that I accept the request even after I repeatedly told him I couldn't because of a tight time constraint. My colleagues and I deleted the mobile app and will not be using it in the near future. Perhaps when it is better organized and more established. read more

For the people that was confuse and were talking about how this company get money from your bank, which is $0.50. Thats how they check if your account is real or not, and if you really keep track of your account you will see that they put it back. It was so convenient to have this people around and work when we're so tired or lazy to walk or whatever reason we have of not taking the public transportation instead. Also their app is up to date, they always have a new idea on how it would be more convenient for us. They have the costumer support which is 24/7 that makes it better for everybody. read more

This service is horrible. I read an article that listed Summons as one of the city's top ride-share services so I downloaded the app. I was heading home last night and decided to try it out. The driver called me and asked me where I was. I got very frustrated because I gave my address at least 4-5 times, yet the driver still kept asking. He actually tried to instruct me to WALK over to where he was located. Are you kidding me?? You are a ride-share service. Your job is give people RIDES. You don't tell your customers to walk to YOUR location, you go and pick them up at the designated location. I ended up deleting the request and just hopping into a cab nearby. Probably cost me less too. DONT USE SUMMON. read more

I tried InstantCab for the first time last Friday and it was awesome! I had reservations about signing up with my credit card info, but it worked out just fine. As soon as I requested a cab through the app, the driver called me to confirm and to give me an ETA of when to expect him. He arrived within minutes and got me to my destination. Paying was even easier since I already had my cc info in my account. I didn't have to wait in the cab to pay. The driver simply sends me the fare to pay through the app. I accepted the fare and selected the tip. Viola! It's so easy now to get a cab in San Francisco. I had a wonderful ride until I saw what was charged to my bank account. I was told my ride total was $13 and I gave a $6 tip. When later checking my account I saw I was charged $35.20. I called customer service and was told that my ride was during peak time so I was charged 1.5 of.the total. This still does not mathematically add up. I am very disappointed.and will lyft instead. read more

Sorry you had such a bad experience applying as a driver, however if running a background check, and requesting driver license, registration and insurance were a problem for you then I think they made the right choice. I am a driver for Instant cab and I can tell you that 100% of my passengers that are return clients are raving about the ease of use, courtesy of the drivers and overall satisfaction. I am concerned about this company. They hired me as a driver then took all of my personal information including my drivers license, bank account information, driving information and insurance then never heard from them again. If this company is doing this to drivers than I can only imagine what they are doing to their passengers. I would not get in a insta cab! read more

Terrible app and service. Taxi driver summoned was awful. He missed my location made we walk across a street to him carrying three bags of luggage. Then he doesnt tell me that the meter is running at higher pricing. I had a free $20 credit and that wasn't even enough cover cost of trip. Uber across town in SF is cheaper. Heck even regular cab should get across town cheaper. Also driver took cash from me for difference and pocketed it then tried to charge me for the difference again thru the app. Good thing my bank froze the card. Total ripoff app and service. Uber or Lyft drivers nicer and cost less. read more

Complete ripoff! Buyer beware. Hired driver in FiDi (pick- up at Palace Hotel). Tell driver we are going to Oakland. He says "no problem, I live there". Then, proceeds to go 6 blocks out of the way to get on Bay Bridge. When given direction, the driver still went the wrong way. Total ride to Jack London Square is $60! Took Lyft last night for same exact ride and was only charged $21 total. UberX for same ride is $24. Even more expensive than a cab, and this was a personal car. read more

New Android app is user-friendly and has good functionality. And very responsive folks in the office when I've had questions or needed help. It's going to be great to watch this customer-centric company grow. They also deserve kudos on being the first company to get a rideshare permit from the PUC. read more

This app is great! I found it through the rover app and got $5 off my first ride. I was picked up by a really cool Asian driver that have suggestions for everything We planned to do on our trip. I used this app about 5 times over the weekend and was picked up sooner than its estimated time almost very time. The drivers were pleasant all except for one who was a middle eastern man on a loud phone call. I will use this app again, also excited about it coming to Los Angeles! read more

I love InstantCab! This app/service kicks ass! I signed up randomly while on a cab ride from Marina to Miraloma park. Driver told me about it, and that I could pay him right from my phone. enough said, I never have cash! Signed up while on the ride and it was so easy. Yes, you attach a credit card, which I didn't want to do with other cab apps. But, duh, how else would you pay from the phone. Driver enters in cab fare from meter once you arrive and then the app gives you the option to tip. A sliding scale, from "no tip" to 10%, 15% and so on. I used it yesterday for the first time to request a cab, and that's what made me want to write a review. I requested a cab, and in under one minute a cab driver called me. He accepted my request and he was on his way! I could see his name displayed on the screen and there was a button if I needed to call him. I could even track where he was, and based on the gps it gave me his estimated arrival time. Flippin' genius! Try it out people, go to the app store and download [InstantCab]. read more

This "service" really just facilitates cab service fraud. If using credit card you don't receive a written receipt until it's e-mailed to you, and of course the fare is much higher than what was agreed to. Nothing more than a vehicle to facilitate theft and deception. read more

All I can say is the customer service for this company is amazing. I would particularly like to thank Jacqueline who works at InstantCab for tracking down and finding my lost iphone that I had mistakenly left in one of their cabs. I have had numerous bad experiences in the past with other cab companies and the terrible customer service they provided me with in regards to finding lost items, but my experience at instantcab was completely different.
