    Shrimp tempura lunch special
    Iyana M.

This is absolutely one of my favorite sushi spots in jacksonville! no frills family owned restaurant with decent sushi. is it the best? no but for the price it's a good deal! I like to come during lunch and get their 3 rolls for 12.95 or their shrimp tempura is absolutely delish!!! it's usually nice and quiet and a chill place to hang. friendly owners

"Ricky Roll" Deep-fried roll with crabmeat & cream cheese

It was a treat to find a local Sushi restaurant open on a Tuesday--it was cute, clean and DELICIOUS. The typical roll selection was good deal for lunch speciAl, but in picking out a special fried roll as a treat: THE RICKY ROLL was unbelievably good. Simple crabmeat & cream cheese but friend in the lightest tempura ever and served in an artistic canvas of spiraling sauces. How pretty is this?! Def check out Sumo. We loved it all!

Stopped in here with my partner after going to the market across the way. The interior was warm and intimate, well decorated. Young lady who served us was very polite and wonderful, she also got our order correct and remembered everything. Coconut fish roll was mind blowing, 10000/10. Partner said he enjoyed his rolls as well:) overall, would come back if in the area, prices were not bad either

This place is fantastic! A family owned restaurant with a cute vibe that we found on our way from Charlotte to Tampa when we stayed the night in Jacksonville. 10/10 sushi!

Great place for us fellow sushi lovers, I got Shumai which was great and the Park Roll. Food was excellent, fresh, and service was pleasant too!

    Miso Soup & Ginger Salad

Sumo must stand for Sushi Unlike Most Opponents because the portion to price ratio will knock your socks off. I mean, hot damn, are they even turning a profit here? Goliath-sized portions will ensure leftovers the following day! Three of us dined in this past Sunday night. We were cold and craving luscious sushi. The restaurant reminds me of an Avondale sushi hot spot. Cozy and quaint, with two TV's for viewing pleasure. Our server was prompt and polite. I was pleased when I discovered the Maki Combination I ordered came with Miso Soup and Ginger Salad. The former was kind of underwhelming, considering hot soup on a cool night is #goals. Miso Soup is generally plain, but this was just bland. Ginger Salad redeemed itself - the dressing was spot on! Onto the main event: All of our sushi plates were wonderfully presented. My tablemates enjoyed their specialty rolls more than I did. Maybe I ordered off the basic bae menu? They were all middle of the road in my opinion. Plus, I didn't receive any of the spicy goodness that was promised. I'm no sushi connoisseur by any means, but as far as my experience was concerned, it was just good. As mentioned, the prices are incredibly affordable. If I return, I'd stick with the specialty rolls or adventure over to their stir fry or lo mein options.

I'll usually filter out restaurants by the average / amount of reviews and this was a top contender. Located inside an unassuming shopping plaza, we backed into a suitable parking spot and finally entered the legendary Sushi Bear. The first thing we instinctually noticed was an odd, chemical smell (hopefully cleaning product / hence the knocked off star) and some of the walls looked to be under renovation and partially covered with incoherent children's scribble, but no big deal. We were promptly sat and immediately served a complimentary holiday roll and clear soups which were both very tasty. Soon after, our order was taken and within minutes was brought to us which we quickly filled up on. The staff were VERY attentive and friendly. The food was excellent and I will 100% be returning here whenever I need another convenient sushi fix. Highly recommended for the area. - Lou Sassle

We love dining from Sake House 2 because the staff is genuine and attentive to you. Excellent meals, superior quality and large portion sizes! We eat-in or go through Door Dash. We started with the edamame, with the sea salt and truffle oil, which is always delicious. The service over the evening was very slow, and we spent a lot of time waiting on food. We sat in our favorite spot at the bar window so our server also appeared the be working behind the bar and was busy making drinks. We love sake and usually get a bottle of the Noble Arrow. We asked for a recommendation and the server recommended the Soul of the Sensei, which is $107 for the bottle. We were celebrating our 24th anniversary so we went for it. He said it was on the dry side, but we found it very unexpectedly sweet, almost like a moskato wine. It wasn't surprising when we read the back of the label and saw the flavor profile was all the way on the fruity side, with notes of Muscat grape. We definitely made a mistake by not tasting it first, so we ended up asking for a bag to take it home and ordered 2 glasses of the Noble Arrow. It was a disappointing start. Next we ordered the yellowtail carpaccio, which was very good, although the size of the fish pieces overall seemed smaller than usual. Everything we ordered over the evening was undeniably tasty, but small. We got the Usuzukuri salmon and when they brought it, they had the tuna carpaccio as well. The person who brought it said it was a gift. Later, we were charged $2 on the bill for the "gift." It's not much, but it's just that giving us a gift and then putting a charge on the bill for it was very strange. Overall, I still love the food at O-Ku, but this was not the best experience. We had gone there previously for our anniversary and they made it feel special. This time there wasn't any kind of recognition besides possibly the "gift" we had to pay extra for. And the service was so slow that we ended up drinking the bottle of sake we didn't like rather than waiting for another drink order. Every place will have its off nights, and this unfortunately seemed to be one of them. I would still recommend going there, because even though the portions are tiny and expensive, the taste is delicious.
