I haven't been here since we first moved to Jacksonville in 2019. The first time we went, we loved the food, ambience, and service. We decided to come here the other day on a whim since the sushi places around us were closed (oddly for a Tuesday). The ambience still feels nice! The food is good but the prices have increased since we've last been. I don't blame them since inflation and all. The service could be better. The waitress that we had was polite and sweet, but a little slow on getting our checks, checking us out, and checking up on us at times. The man who checked up on us and refilled our drinks was the real MVP. Here's what we had: Shrimp tempura roll: 7/10- It was good! I wanted to add cream cheese but they charge $1 to add cream cheese! That's so pricey! for a smidge of cream cheese! Now you might think $1 is nothing but I can literally buy a block of cream cheese for $2.50 at the store. No biggie, the roll was still pretty decent. I didn't like that it wasn't cut all the way so some of the rolls stuck to each other. So I was struggling to pull the rolls apart. It had cucumber in it but the breading was thicker than the shrimp. Lobster tempura roll: 9/10 - I enjoyed this roll! It was so good! The lobster pieces were a really good size for the price! I wanted to add daikon to the roll but again, they wanted to charge me to swap out an ingredient. I opted out of it so I had it how it was. I think it had kani salad in it, lobster tempura, avocado, masago, and cucumber. It was a good size but only had 6 pieces of it. Wished they must made it the standard 8 pieces for the roll but regardless, I enjoyed this roll. Chirashi: 8/10 - my husband had this and he loved it! It had an assortment of raw fish and some cooked items like tamago (egg) and imitation crab on top of a bed of rice and some daikon radishes on the side. The portion was good for the amount of food that you get. You also get a soup and salad with this. The salad was just pieces of ice berg lettuce drowned in ginger dressing (you can choose ranch instead if you want). The salad looked like soup to be honest with the amount of dressing on it. The miso soup was okay from what my husband said. Cheese wontons/rangoons: 5/10 - I love eating cheese rangoons and these were a disappointment. They were not perfectly golden and crispy, but a little bit pale for my liking and tasted like nothing. There was a good amount of filling and imitation crab inside but it was nothing special. The chili sauce made it a little better but I wouldn't get this again. Overall, I would probably stop by again if I was in the area but not go out of my way. The food is good, but some items are hits or misses on the portion size and price point. read more

Love the combination lunch specials. I got shrimp and scallops. They are grilled and lightly seasoned. They come with a bowl of delicious soup as well as their signature salad. The entree is served with both fried rice and lo mein noodles. Service is quick and very pleasant. read more

First time there and the experience was very positive. Service was excellent, very quick and included complimentary sushi and rice soup. My husband and I each had a lunch dish, I had the hibachi shrimp and he had the hibachi scallops. All the ingredients in both dishes were tasty, well cooked and more than either one of us finish at lunch. For those who like a libation with their meal Fancy has a nice wine and beer menu. While the seating is a bit cramped particularly at lunch time the ambiance was pleasant, clean and friendly. We definitely recommend! read more

I think Fancy Sushi has become one of my favorite places for sushi. I usually go for lunch and get it to go. I love that they have a great sushi lunch special. I am able to get a few rolls with soup for under $15 which is great!! The sushi always tastes very fresh and the soup is tasty. I have also had their tempura a few times and I really enjoy it. The portions are great and the staff is very nice! The restaurant is clean and feels welcoming. If I order lunch when I leave the Riverside area, it has always been ready by the time I get there. The soup stays hot until I get home as does the tempura. They have always automatically included soy and shrimp sauce which I appreciate because I regularly forget to ask for it. The restaurant is located off Collins in the Walmart shopping center. There is always plenty of parking. I would absolutely recommend Fancy Sushi! read more

The absolute worst sushi I have ever had. Stay far away from this place. Ordered to be delivered and it showed up with all of the rolls absolutely squished into a container to the point I couldn't even get the rolls out. The ones I was able to, fell apart instantly. Had three bites and my partner and I had to throw everything away. We sadly got when it was buy one get one and had to throw away 8 rolls.... Really disappointed and hope you try any of the other better sushi places in Jacksonville. Waste of money. read more

We had dinner there and ordered sushi rolls which were delish and prepared and presented nicely! Two rainbow rolls and a dragon roll and Salmon roll. We ordered a tempura appetizer and a shrimp tempura dinner. We requested no broccoli and they served us broccoli anyway. Also they did not serve us tempura shrimp. It was breaded with panko and overcooked. I'm sure we will never order their shrimp again. Husband is allergic to broccoli I was so surprised they didn't accommodate his request. Wow, Wow and WOOOOW!! So as you know alot of us are trying to support our local businesses, I decided to try this spot that is pretty new. Soooo glad I did! To be honest I'm not that big on sushi just a few, my fav is hibachi. This ...for sure is my new favorite sushi restaurant! Flavorful, fresh, friendly service, the food was so rich and yummy, the orange sauce on point, my chicken was perfect I mean just how I like it!! Fish was old and rubbery. We all got food poisoning and felt the urge to vomit before we even finished our meal. The service was good the staff was friendly and considerate. The ambiance was terrible though. They had a random radio station on playing loud music with ads completely taking away from any form of a relaxing meal. read more

I grew up on an island and the fancy q roll was one of the best sushi rolls I've ever had. Chicken yakitori was amazingly tender and flavorful. Not too salty. We also got edamame. If I could give them zero stars I would. I ordered through their online portal for pickup at 10pm. Received a text message at 9:46 saying they received my order. They called me at 9:50pm saying they couldn't make my order due to closing the hibachi grill at 9:45pm. If they aren't interested in serving food until 10pm then the hours should be changed to 9:30pm and the online ordering system should be shut down at 9:45p. He offered me a 20% discount for my next visit which I declined. I live across the street from here and it's super convenient to go here if they are opened till 10pm we should be able to pickup a Togo order until then. I placed my order in advanced and they didn't receive said order from there online processor till 9:46pm and said hibachi grill had been shut down at 9:30p. Sounds like they just closed early and didn't want to make anymore food. It's rice and veggies not a hard dish to make. The health department visit from 7/31/24 are listing no soap at handwashing sinks ... gross. They were also shut down 11/2023 for one day. Glad my order was cancelled. I won't be back read more

I got the lunch special. Combination scallops and shrimp for $14. It came with 3 scallops, 4 shrimp, a bunch of veggies and a bunch of rice. I was expecting a little bit more shrimp and scallops, but it was still good. Next time I'll try the steak or chicken. Maybe there will be more if I just order one in stead of two meats. read more

It's really good trust me... I've ate it 3 times in a week! The holiday roll is amazing and I loved how it come out... but getting it to-go or delivered wasn't as great. Ordered take out but overall the food was amazing and fresh. I ordered a lot of sushi such as the dynamite, rock n roll and shrimp tempura as well as the steak and shrimp hibachi. The food barely made it 15 mins in my house, so with that being said we will be returning unfortunately I can't speak on the service but from the previous reviews I would assume the service is good as well. Overall give Fancy Sushi on Collins restaurant an 8.5 out of 10. Very satisfied experience, amazing food, great service, and not bad for prices. Went during the lunch special and ordered chicken and steak habachi, strawberry nigiri and the maki two sushi rolls; the spicy salmon roll, Alaska roll. I really recommend ordering the drink it's absolutely delicious and very smooth. The sushi itself was very delicious and not too bad, very fresh. The Habachi was hot ready and yummy. When you order you have complimentary soup or salad we got both. They also gave us sushi seasonal roll of the day complimentary just for dining in with them. Not impressed at all. Looking at the reviews of this place, I'm questioning my sense of direction...and perhaps my GPS. There's no way the reviews I read prior to going are associated with the place I just left. We entered at 15:00 on the dot. We stood at the door waiting to be greeted until 15:07, by the lady that was sitting at the bar (back facing the door). Had the sushi chef not told her we were right there...I'd probably still be standing at the door as I write this review. The lunch special ended at 15:00, so between threading the needle with that, and all the servers eating, that option was out the door. Key takeaways: The menu - pricing is extremely high for the location. West side Jacksonville menu with Ponte Vedra prices. Your average kitchen menu item STARTED at $18. That's shrimp hibachi, teriyaki snapper hibachi...the salmon etc was $23. I looked at the portion of the menu and wasn't even really hungry anymore. Lord forbid if I wanted an entree and a sushi roll....that's an easy $30.... which is unrealistic. The ambiance - I see where they wanted to go with it, but it didn't happen. The soft music is inviting, but the seating is so open and close together, you're obligated to hear what others around you are talking about. Not to mention, the "Roku" screen that we stared at on the tv...with the "setup required" at the bottom didn't really make for a good distraction. The staffs area to put their personal belongings is also on public display. (Photo attached) where you can see someone's Vaseline, vitamins and purse...all while you're eating. Now that's just awesome! As I was eating, the wasabi they use to hold the plates decorations got weak... and the decoration piece fell into my food. At that moment I was over it...and "wanted to get away". The service- The servers were okay I suppose. All 6 of them. Since we seen all of them while we were there. One of the people I had came with didn't care for their roll.... so we alerted one of the servers and told her..she snatched up the plate..and took it away then brought the check. There was no "May I offer you something else" or any other solutions offered. She took it and brought the check as if we were being told to leave after complaining about the roll. Overall, this was a bust. Quite frankly after paying, I began to feel like they owed me money. Needless to say this place needs major improvement. read more

If you're on the westside of town and up for sushi you can't go wrong with Fancy Sushi. I've personally never had a negative experience here. The restaurant looks pretty small from the outside and seats around 50 guests total. The decor inside is traditional with a modern approach which is also how I would describe their sushi presentation. The service team works together seamlessly so you're never left needing anything for any extended period of time. They are all very pleasant and helpful. I won't go into a ton of detail about the food. If you're a fan of japanese hibachi or sushi you don't need the mundane details... only that the sushi was fresh and delicious. The hibachi plate was served quickly and cooked well. Everything was top notch. Doo-able or Un-dooable This restaurant features a single user, toilet only facility (no urinal). The restroom is located in the back corner of the restaurant hidden from most viewers. The decor is very modern and pleasing to the eyes. It was very clean on this visit and had no odor or visible stains. The only thing that might cause a potential problem is the fact that the restaurant is consistently busy and with this being single occupancy you're likely to get knocked on if you're busy. Although I didn't need it on this visit, I'd say it's DOO-ABLE! read more

Very nice place. Offered a complimentary fried crab tempura upon arrival. Staff was very attentive to our needs and brought our food out quickly and kept up with our drinks. It was very quiet and not busy when we went since it was veterans day. But nonetheless an enjoyable experience. I loved the water wall with the changing colors too. It was very pretty to look at. And when my rolls we're brought out there was a cute umbrella in one of them. My significant other and his mother ate the teriyaki dinners which also looked really nice. We hope to return here again in the future since it's so close to where we live in the Walmart shopping plaza. Perhaps there will be more people on a regular day. The atmosphere was very nice but I'd like to see how it is when more people are in attendance as well. read more

This place was bustling with customers on a busy Friday night. The Avatar-like waterfall near the entrance glowed a welcoming blue hue. The atmosphere was full of cheer and delight. Too bad the server wasn't feeling the same way... Upon ordering, the cold young man did not give me a receipt, and seemed a bit agitated. "Should be twenty, twenty-five minutes", he stated before walking off. After thirty minutes, my order was ready. Vegetable Hibachi with a California roll. The mushroom soup had a slight aftertaste and the lettuce was white...as if I was eating glass. I couldn't even finish it. The sushi was quite disappointing. The best thing was the hibachi. I ordered online ahead of time because I didn't feel well and didn't want a long wait. They don't deliver. Something told me not to pay online but in person. When I got there I told them I had a take out order and took my name. They disappaeared and came back 5 minutes later saying 10 minutes ago the online system went down so they don't see my order. I get there are glitches no big deal. I place my order and hand them my credit card. The card system is down. It would have been nice to know before I placed my order. Fortunately, I had the cash. They brought the food out for the customer behind me did not. He ask where the closest atm was, no one knew. His food is sitting here and he left looking for an atm. He was standing there when I walked in before his food was ready. Why didn't they say anything where he showed up initially. 10 minutes later he is back with cash. I understand when things stop working. Its inconvenient for everyone but let people know so they can decide prior to ordering what they would like to do or at least they can scurry around looking for cash while the food is being prepared. I was unhappy with the service. The food however was very good. My favorite was the Ginza roll. It was large, with amazing toppings. The dynamite roll was fried as well, topped with sauce and tasty. Finished up the meal with fried oreos, one of my favorite carnival staples. I'm not a true sushi conisur, I just like fried deliciousness. The ambiance of the place is upscale casual. Good enough for a date but ok for Jean's. The decor was modern despite being in a strip mall next to Walmart. Just WOW. Found this place obviously on Yelp, and because of the reviews my husband and I decided to give this place a try. The interior is so cute and modern. When you first walk through the door, taking in your atmosphere is quite the experience in and of itself. The service was absolutely outstanding, I don't think they let our drinks get below 1/3 of a glass, they were so friendly and al smiles, happy to answer any questions we had. The sushi tasted amazing. The presentation however of the sushi was on a whole other level. My husband and I haven't had sushi in suchhhh a long time and our eyes were bigger than our stomachs. Depending on how many rolls you order, they bring them out to you a certain way. Since we ordered so many we got a treat. It was absolutely beautiful, I'll attach a picture. I sadly didn't get a picture of their chicken friend rice but oh my gosh, it was amazing and we ate it as an "appetizer" before the meal. We both scarfed it down, it was great. Their sweet tea is really good as well! The Volcano Roll was super good!! Could be personal preference but the miso soup tasted kind of fishy, I got a spicy tuna roll and found a hard piece of what looked like either a bone or plastic... either way made me lose my appetite a decent amount. I've dined and or have done take out here at-least once or twice a week since this place opened because the place has fresh great quality sushi, good service and let's not mention down the street from my house. The atmosphere is very intimate and the place smells brand new. My fiancée and I went here on a lovely night to celebrate her birthday. When we walked in, we were greeted with a friendly smile. It was kind of busy, but we were seated immediately. Our server was prompt and helpful. She even recommended us the phoenix roll, which tasted amazing! Our server was also nice and friendly. We spent quite some time on the menu and she was very patient. We ordered the lobster general roll, phoenix roll, and fire tuna toll. While we waited for the food to arrive, the server brought the complimentary holiday roll. It tasted amazing! Our food arrived in 20 mins, which is reasonable because they were busy. The sushi were a work of art. They were beautifully decorated and oversized! Indeed, I have never seen big portions of sushi. This means more food for me! All jokes aside, the sushi tasted amazing! The rice, the fish, the sauce all tasted fresh! While we waited for the check, the server and manager surprised my fiancée with a birthday dessert! It was very sweet for them to do that. This shows how great the service is! We had a piece of the cake and fried red bean ice cream. Yummy! The atmosphere is beautiful and the environment is friendly. The LED strip lights and music in the background made our dining experience much more relaxed and enjoyable. Overall, this place is great! The service is fantastic. I've always been sketched out with new restaurants on this side of town, especially in front of Walmart. We are hibachi and sushi regulars around town and with this COVID-19 nonsense, we had to find something local. Took a chance on Fancy Sushi on Collins and AMAZING. So happy that we gave it a shot. We will be regulars here from now on. 3 of us ordered different things and all of them were fresh, cooked perfectly, and DELICIOUS. Chicken, shrimp, steak, fried rice, and 3 sushi rolls. The only thing we didn't care for, was the clear soup. Tasted a little bland, but that doesn't take away from how amazing the rest of the food was. The first time coming here we did take out and it just was not that great... less than anything special. My boyfriend and I were upset about how disappointed we were because it's so close to home. After a day of golf my boyfriend was dragged here again and was pleasantly surprised. So last night we give it another try take out wise and it was DELICIOUS! We had hibachi vegetables which came with rice AND lo mein noodles. We were able to request no mushrooms which is a huge plus for me. The Black dragon roll is a must have!
