I will start by saying I was right on the cusp of 5 stars. My only issue was the spice level on the Singapore Noodles. They were so spicy, no one could eat them. I have had Singapore Noodles from countless establishments and none have ever come close to this level of spice. With that said, the vegetable spring rolls, chicken egg rolls, sweet and sour pork and chicken fried rice were outstanding. While I will go elsewhere for my Singapore fix, this is my new place for everything else... They were kind and generous on the phone, and provided plenty of hot mustard and sweet and sour sauce as we requested. I was in the area and craving some boba tea. This place was nearby, so I decided to check it out. It was a weekday around 5pm and not that busy at all. The person working up front took my order quickly and I was in and out in 5 minutes. The restaurant looked really nice and clean, with low/dim lighting, nice decor. There was a bar area to sit at and lots of dining room seating. The food menu looked really good, I would definitely come back here to try some! The food here was better than expected, but unfortunately the overall dining environment made it difficult to enjoy the experience. The restaurant itself felt noticeably dingy and unclean. There was a lingering smell of old dust, and visible buildup on surfaces that created a level of discomfort while dining. Cleanliness in the dining area directly impacts confidence in the kitchen, and it was hard not to question overall sanitation standards as a result. I also left with multiple bug bites on my legs, which was particularly concerning. Service was straightforward. The servers did not speak much English, but communication was not an issue. They understood our orders clearly, and everything we requested arrived correctly. As for the food, it was solid but not exceptional. I ordered the tuna roll and sashimi, which were good and fresh enough to satisfy. The sushi rolls overall were enjoyable. The orange chicken with fried rice was flavorful and well prepared, and the Mongolian beef was also good. The boba, however, was disappointing, with a mushy texture that suggested it was overcooked or sitting too long. I live in the neighborhood and have been going this spot for years. It's one of my favorite Chinese spots, the reason I give it 3 stars is because they clearly have a quality consistency issue, it really is a gamble, either you get great food or you get really low quality subpar food--and with the continuous price increases it sucks to spend near $20 for some noodles and have them be on a bad night when they are barely worth eating. 5 stars on a good night 2 stars on a bad night I'd say of my past 5 visits, 2 were good, 3 were bad, ordering the same exact dishes. read more

I have been going here for 10 years. They were my favorite Chinese restaurant in the South Mountain area. BUT, as of the end of 2025, their menu has changed. I had the worst, most unflavored meal I have ever had. The green beans no longer seemed fresh and the garlic sauce had no garlic. It had no flavor at all. They have removed their vegetables egg rolls and only have spring rolls, which there is a big difference. Very disappointed! I could not eat the meal bought. It was awful. First time in after always being on the Southside lol, and so far things are going good. The server was ok, I think he was trying to check our temperature mostly on what type of diners we were going to be. Which is always funny cause we come in to try you not, you try and figure out what we on y'all sell food for Christ sake lol anyhow, that's just always funny to watch and much more open than just calling everyone racist when that isn't truly the case. I got the veggie delight cause I call myself giving up the meats hahaha it was so good, they have flavors, Mike got moo goo guy pan lol he was hesitant but said he's gotta see where else it's good at so he gave the dish a good and he rated it a 7 he said it's garlic forward and he just never had it that way. But dishes are made differently in some cases, so that's cool. He did not care for the sushi he rated that a 3 with a never getting it here again. We really like Sun Asian. We always do take out since we live very close. My husband is very picky but loves their kung pow chicken. He always asks for a few special things and they always accommodate him. I tried the hunan chicken yesterday and it was delicious although it was a tad too spicy for me but I could handle it. I've been coming to Sun Asian for years, and I really don't have a bad thing to say about it. Had some takeout today. You can order online to pick up, which is so convenient! We got the Kung pao chicken, shrimp fried rice, crab rangoons, an avocado roll, and a California roll. For being a Chinese restaurant, I actually really enjoy their sushi as well . Wow. this place has really gone down hill in the past couple of years. Rice was stale, sushi wasn't very fresh, and the crab rangoons came out overdone. To top it all off, some mediocre, take-out level entrees. one of the few chinese restaurants in south phoenix and it's gone from just "meh" to "gross." the kicker was that service also took a down turn. After my initial review 11 years ago this became my new favorite Asian restaurant in South Phoenix, but due to some health issues I haven't eaten here for a couple years. Tonight I was happy to finally order some takeout. I've always loved their Crab Rangoon. It has always been fuller, and creamier than any other place, and it still is. We also had a California Roll which was pretty basic. A lot smaller than what I'm used to. For our main dish we split an order of orange chicken which I have ordered many times in years past. I am beyond disappointed. The chicken was over-cooked and inedible. The rice is usually fluffy and sticky. This time it was kind of dry with crunchy bits... They were very busy so, I'm going to hope things just got out of hand. Though it's going to be very tough for me to risk trying it again. read more

I would have to say that Sun Asian Kitchen is very poor to mediocre based on the food that I had. I typically order a variety of items because I can never really settle on just one thing. My go-to for almost every Asian restaurant is Kung Pao Chicken. The Kung Pao was very bland and didn't have any spice/heat to it. I wasn't really wild about the flavor either. I've had Kung Pao at other places that just tasted fresh and well constructed, but I can't really say that is the case here. The House Fried Rice was pretty good, but I never really use that as a standard for measure. I also ordered the General Tso's Chicken and, again, I was disappointed with the lack of spiciness. The chicken also seemed as though it was a little overcooked, which is weird considering the breading on the chicken was a bit soggy. The Egg Rolls were not very good either as they were overcooked and burnt. How does anyone in the kitchen see egg rolls that are dark brown and black and think it's okay to serve them? Overall, the food did not impress me. The House Fried Rice was the only thing that tasted good, but it's hard to screw that up. The Kung Pao Chicken, General Tso's Chicken and Egg Rolls were not good and very forgettable. I cannot recommend Sun Asian Kitchen to anyone who wants good Chinese food. read more

I haven't been to this place in over 15 years. I was really feeling nostalgic so I stopped in with my mom and kids. We were immediately seated and the servers were nice. One came and tried to take our order then another rushed over and explained something about it being easier for him to take our orders so we wound up repeating our order and it was a bit confusing BUT they were still nice. Anyway, we got the garlic chicken w/rice, Peking pork ribs with fried rice, kids chicken nugget meal, kids honey chicken meal, a chicken spring roll, a Thai iced tea, and hot green tea. Everything was fresh and hot but all of the sauces were SO SWEET. It was really overwhelming. The rice was good and I was happy we had it to try to balance the sweetness from the dishes. The ribs were good but they had a weird after taste. The Thai iced tea was good but a little on the sweet side. The chicken nuggets looked like they were cooked in old oil.
