Found this place on yelp. Been wanting to try meat jun and was excited to see this on the menu. Ordered meat jun and the katsu chicken plate. I called in a to go order and it was ready pretty quickly. I asked for extra katsu sauce and I don't know if that threw her off but I think the meat jun was supposed to come with a sauce too??? Disappointed in the meat jun but I'm also a saucy girl, It was plain to me, meat battered in egg. It comes with a side salad and side Mac salad and rice of course. Chicken katsu & Mac salad were good. It's a small space with some indoor seating inside, located in downtown. There's limited street parking. Probably a parking garage nearby. I'll be honest I didn't come here with the best expectations cause the reviews weren't great but WOW LAU LAU The food here is onolicious!! My husband said the service was quick and he got our food in no time!! There was also plenty of seating to choose from inside and out. He ordered me the spicy teriyaki pork plate with over easy eggs and meat jun (not photographed cause I inhaled it ) and it was BOMB.COM!! The meat was flavorful, the kimchi had just the right amount of bite and the mac salad was killahz!! This is the best Hawaiian food I have ever had in Phoenix. They need to bring back all of the musubi's. They had a couple months ago. They had about 10 of them on the menu and they were the best thing I think of this place. However, like I said, this is the best place in Phoenix. It is a small mom and pop shop. Been living a couple blocks away for over a year and finally decided to try this place and wow it was fantastic. Everything was cooked perfectly and portion sizes were great. I got the special plate #2 with teriyaki chicken, teriyaki steak, katsu chicken, fried mandoo + Mac salad, rice and salad all for $18 and it was absolutely worth it. This was a great place to go to get your Hawaiian local food fix. The Katsu was great, meat jun was fantastic, and I don't normally finish mac salad but theirs made me clean my plate. Pretty good Hawaiian BBQ. The ribs were freshly grilled. They smelled and tasted fantastic. The chicken katsu was lightly breaded and very crunchy. The teriyaki chicken was well seasoned and had good flavor. The macaroni salad was well seasoned and surprisingly light. It was lunch hour so there was a bit of a wait but they were very professional. There were about 20 seats available for indoor seating. We decided to eat at Paradise Hawaiian BBQ while in Phoenix towards the end of our trip because we missed eating "rice"! Because we were there for a convention, it was crowded because they are walking distance from the convention center. We decided to do a phone call order. As i called, i get yelled at over the phone "HOLD ON!" So i hold on... she finally comes back on and says "what do you want to order?" I'm kind of used to this type of yelling, because when you go to a L and L, this is exactly how they talk to. We decide to order 4 plates. We walk over to the little shop and stand in line. The one cashier seemed overwhelmed so another lady comes to help her. We get to the cashier and they know we ordered over the phone, again the lady who took the order was a little rude. So i decided to ask, who's from Hawaii? She said i am. I said wow, that's nice that you decided to open up a restaurant here. Again she was a little standoffish. So we informed her we were from Hawaii, and she looked up at us and her whole attitude was a lot different, very nice. Whether your from Hawaii or not, everyone should receive the aloha spirit. As we waited for our food, we met this guy that sat at the first table doodling on a napkin. Wowlaulau! I'm so glad that I decided to search meat jun in the YELP app because it brought me to this great restaurant that reminded me of back home food, Hawaii. This place is located in downtown PHX so parking sucks and a lot of it is paid meter parking but that didn't bother me since I was on a mission for meat jun. Once I got into the restaurant the two ladies running the cash register greeted me and my co-workers and we ordered. I decided to get a 2 choice plate which consisted of meat jun and kalbi. Kalbi is essentially marinated short rib and meat jun is an egg batter around some tender beef. Now lets get to the food... Meat Jun: This bad boy was cooked to perfection, the beef was tender and the batter wasn't heavy and just right. The sauce that comes with the meat jun was on point and the way it needed to be. I'm telling you people if you haven't tried meat jun, you need to. Kalbi: The kalbi didn't disappoint either and the marinated on the short rib was amazing! Now I somewhat have an idea about the afternoon action of Downtown Phoenix. Well, it took me long enough to figured that out. There are more lunch options in the downtown area. With some good options in the area, I ran across this small Hawaiian dining spot for my final meal in "the Valley of the Sun". You can either order at the counter or if you are in a hurry, order ahead through the Door Dash app. I was looking at the menu above the kitchen. The café has your usual Hawaiian dishes, like the chicken katsu in which I was craving and ordered for lunch for $10.50. The meal also comes with rice, macaroni, and greens. What this place also have is brown rice for $1.50 extra. Not many places offer brown rice, but I just became a fan of the brown grain. There are some tables for dining in. But I took my meal back to my hotel. The chicken katsu meat was thick and cooked nicely. The brown rice was a difference maker with my meal. This was a solid meal. read more

I am a person who spends a great deal of time in the outdoors as well as hunting wild game for food consumption so I consider myself to have a strong solid stomach. At this time I do not feel well. The food here is pretty decent. I ordered a spicy Chicken and spicy Beef mixed plate. It really wasn't that spicy, but it tasted good. The service is kinda short, bordering rude. I've never been here before and the lady seemed upset or bothered that I didn't know what the side dish options were. Maybe she is used to the students who come here regularly, but that wasn't me. It comes with a choice of 4 sides (macaroni salad, bean sprouts, potatoes, kimchi, corn, zucchini, and some others that I have no clue what they're called...sorry!) Their chicken katsu is also delicious, but my MVP (most valuable plate) is the chicken and teriyaki beef. The succulent BBQ flavor of the chicken is just divine. I have to admit that the beef is not as flavorful as the chicken, but it's still one of the best teriyaki flavored beef my palate has ever had the pleasure of sampling! Found a new love at Paradise Hawaiian after almost eating here for four years! Spicy chicken with mandoo (dumplings) combo for $9.99 may be the tastiest lunch in Tempe under $10. Chicken marinated in a garlicky sweet & spicy sauce char grilled and served over a bed of rice with 4 sides. You get about 5-6 mandoo in a combo dish and while on the smaller side are cooked beautifully. If you don't like chicken all their spicy offerings are pretty good with pork following in a close second to the chicken. Spam Musubi ($1.95) is excellent as well with a large slice of spam topped over a big hunk of rice encased in dried seaweed. Place gets packed around lunchtime but the service is quick and to the point. After you eat here you won't settle for a Hawaiian chain (like Ono) ever again. read more
