Let me start by saying, I've stayed at Cava Robles RV Resort - Sun Outdoors Paso Robles before, and honestly, I used to love this place. The customer service was always on point, the grounds were spotless, and the bar/food situation was generally better than you'd expect from an RV resort. That's actually why we wanted to come out for Spring Break--and why we brought another family with us. Right off the bat, things felt... a little off. When we pulled into our RV spots, both fire pits (ours and our friends') were full of ash and old, charred wood. Not a huge deal--we don't even really use them--but it was noticeable. Ours was also broken (one leg completely off), which just added to the "hmmm... okay" impression. It wasn't terrible, just definitely not what we remembered. We had planned to kick off the trip with dinner at the bar the first night. Turns out--it's closed on Wednesdays. That one's on us for not checking ahead, but still a bit of a buzzkill. The next day, we figured we'd make up for it with lunch and drinks. This is where things really went sideways. The bartender/server was great--super nice, clearly trying--but every single order turned into, "I'm so sorry... we don't have that." No fries. No chicken fingers (which, with kids, is basically a crisis). Same drink menu as always... but almost none of the ingredients to actually make the drinks. I eventually simplified my order to tequila on the rocks with a lime. "I'm sorry... we don't have limes." At that point, I actually went back to my RV, cut up a couple of limes, and brought them to the bar. I wish I was joking. I don't even know if they used them--but that kind of says it all. From what we were told, everything was "supposed to be restocked"... it just hadn't happened yet. Which raises a pretty obvious question--who exactly was in charge of getting this place ready for Spring Break? We ended up driving into town to buy our own drinks, mixers, and food. Not exactly the resort experience we were planning on. We hung out around the pool and bar area afterward, and even that felt like it had slipped a bit. Chairs scattered everywhere, toys left out, cushions dusty with leaves--it just didn't have that clean, dialed-in feel we remembered. Later that evening, we thought it'd be fun to rent a golf cart and cruise around, meet people, explore a bit. Called the front desk... and learned that even though they're open 24 hours, golf cart rentals are on a strict 2 PM pick-up / 11 AM drop-off schedule. So if I rented one at 7 PM, I'd still have to return it by 11 AM the next day... for $140. Or wait until 2 PM the next day and miss the whole morning. So basically, no matter what, you're paying for less than a full day. Look--I'm not saying this trip ruined the place for me; it will remain in the rotation of places to consider. But it felt like visiting your favorite restaurant only to find half the menu gone and the rest "temporarily unavailable." As a "Public Service Announcement" for management, this also feels like a missed opportunity for you. This place can be great--I've seen it. But this time around, it just wasn't firing on all cylinders... and honestly, it feels like you are leaving both good impressions and DEFINITELY revenue on the table. Our group had a rally here and were treated so well by the entire staff! (34 spots) Hannah and Mallory in the office were so accommodating and attentive to all our needs. The grounds are absolutely beautiful and the trails are so fun. We held a scavenger hunt/ hike on our final day and it was just perfect for this. We've enjoyed a wide range of camping experiences at different RV Resorts. Cava Robles/Sun Outdoors definitely ranks among the best. We traveled with another couple who did not have an RV, so we managed to reserve a premium back in spot next to the chalet that they stayed in. The chalet was super cute and comfortable with a nice porch with chairs and a table. Down below was a larger dining table with chairs. The chalet also came with a BBQ grill which we used. Both sites also had fire pits which we used over the five days that we stayed there. The RV spot was well compacted and perfectly level. The utility hook ups were clean, well maintained, and perfectly positioned. The only nits were that the Wi-Fi signal was a little weak and the cable TV hook-up did not work. The resort is conveniently located for wine tasting trips. The staff is super friendly and helpful. We didn't try any of the amenities as we were focused on wine tasting, but we did drive around and look at them for future reference. We will definitely be back. read more

Another amazing stay! This time in a 2bed, dog-friendly cabin. We loved this area years ago and decided to move here from KS. We ended up staying 2 nights while our movers were unpacking in our house. My daughter and mom joined us this time, and they loved the pool, arcade, views, playground, just about everything. We came here for spring break and stayed a week in our 28' TT. All sites are FHU and the sites are leveled. There are cabins nicely dispersed around the campground. There are elevation changes within the park that aren't really obvious on the park map. So picking the right space is important, given the rolling hills within the RV park. The RV sites have plenty of room and are well maintained. Customer service is good. The park is pretty quiet at night with quiet times observed by all. The main pool has cabanas, splash pad, arcade, foozball, fire pits, pool table, ping pong and a restaurant/bar. Plenty of activities on-site. The roads are well paved for biking and scooters for the kids. WiFi is excellent throughout the park. There are activities for the kids like Easter egg hunts, tie-dye, slime making and crafts. There is a second pool and hot tubs around the park as well. The camp store does carry some items but not a lot of the basics. There is a Walmart about 2 miles away. I'd recommend Sun Outdoors Paso Robles to others and we will be returning. read more

Overall, we had a great time at this resort. This resort is one of the largest and nicest that we've ever been. The staff are friendly, everything is super clean, and the resort was planned out well. The negatives: - There's not much shade. That combined with Paso's legendary summer heat make for difficult moments. - The pool furniture is pretty rough. Most of it is wooden and some of it is super rickety. They need to spend a little money in this area. - Some of the technology doesn't work well. Whether paying for songs on the pool juke box that doesn't work or being over charged for their app based laundry machines, some of the technology they use doesn't function well. They have these wrist bands that you're supposed to be able to charge things to. But, they dont work. Instead of charging to your site (like most KOA and hotels), you need to carry around a credit card. - But even IF you do carry a credit card with you, you'll find limited places to use it since the bar and kitchen aren't upon during the week. This brings me to my next point. - They have signs that say that outside food and beverages aren't allowed in the pool area. OK, they want to squeeze me for more money, but I've seen it at hotels. Of course at hotels, you usually don't have the facilities to prepare food like everyone does here. But, the bigger issue is that since the kitchen and bar aren't open during the week, there are no food or drink options at the pools. They shouldn't be making these policies when they dont have the means to provide other options. read more

We tried to get an adult beverage for 45 minutes before we gave up. They kept saying they were going to get to our group and kept helping everyone out of order. We enjoyed our specific site but the positive review ends there. Our friends camping next to us had issues with their electrical set up and the response from management was dismissive. A day later, two maintenance people came out who had no idea what they were doing. Our group talked them through how to replace a breaker. The manager never followed up, that is what is really irritating. Not a "did that get resolved for you?" or offering a refund for the one day that was not meeting the standard. Once you pay in full up front, they seem to not care any longer. Another issue was the lack of enforcement for safety and quiet hours. Drunk people and 10 year olds driving golf carts and electric bikes is a recipe for disaster as evidenced by a serious golf cart roll over accident resulting in injuries. Nothing says "resort" like lights and sirens and camping with a-holes. At the upper pool, someone was riding an electric scooter around the pool deck and they eventually crashed/fell. At midnight, people drove around in golf carts with loud music, screaming. There was no quiet hours or speed limit enforcement. There were times that we limited our kids playing outside for fear of them running out onto the road. I think this was our last time there and we will not be recommending it to our friends and family. This is no "resort" and the staff does not care. It is just a matter of time before a fight breaks out between campers related to a confrontation or a child or dog is hit and killed. read more

We made a reservation and were told that we had until Thursday to cancel. That was wrong. The real deadline was Wednesday. Because of that, we missed the cancellation window. We called to explain and cancel. We stayed calm and respectful. We were met with attitude and rudeness. The person on the phone cut us off and acted like we were wasting their time. It was uncomfortable and unprofessional. We sent emails. We followed up. We called again. We even asked the front desk for the correct email. We resent the email right away. No one has responded. Not a single reply. We no longer feel safe or comfortable staying at a place like this. If this is how they treat people before they arrive, I can't imagine how they treat people on site. We are still asking for a refund. We were misled. We were disrespected. And now we're being ignored. read more

We were impressed by the size of the spaces in this resort as well as the cement pad for the picnic table and firepit and relatively flat and level RV pads. The employees were hit and miss in terms of friendliness and helpfulness in the front office. It was our first time at this campground and it was during the Mid State fair so the campground was basically sold out. Lots of people out on the golf carts, which makes it a bit chaotic. We enjoyed our location at site 228 which was on a slight hill (there are a couple hills that could determine where you choose your site if you plan on going to the pools and don't have a golf cart). We were located near the main pool and just down the hill from the lap pool. Neither is designated as adults only but I noticed less people up at the lap pool. A con of the pools is that they do not allow you to bring in outside food or drink. You have to purchase food at their restaurant/bar at the main pool and at the lap pool I only noticed beverages being sold. It seems prohibitive to instill these rules at a campground! While it didn't bother us, I thouht it was worth pointing out. We also noticed some "roaches" in and around our site and some friends sites. I was told that these could possibly be "weed" roaches, but it still made me worry that some of them might hitch a ride home in our trailer! We traveled with our two sons 9 and 14 who enjoyed riding their scooters around the park and also the acade inside the main pool building. We don't have a dog, but I liked how there were at least 2 dedicated off leash dog areas. Also, the lower area of the park is far from most of the amenities but has a nice pavillion with a small spa, fire pit and seating area as well as some games like cornhole and connect 4. There is also a laundry facility and bathroom and showers. We chose not to stay there as it was far from the pool and that was where we had planned to spend most of our time at when not at our site. Overall, we will probably stay here again as its a great location for visiting the wine areas in Paso and the downtown area. read more

We just spent a whole week here and had a wonderful experience. I was skeptical about the other reviews by our experience was nothing but positive. The front desk stays open 24 hours and all employees were friendly and helpful. The playground and bocce ball area was very clean and even had an outdoor fire place that ran the whole time. The whole campground was clean and well organized. The club house had amazing food. We got the pizza and pretzels and it was delicious. The indoor area of the clubhouse was kid friendly. The pool was heated and clean. The music was perfect for the outdoor feel. There were plenty of yard games for the kids and adults to play with. We used the laundry facilities and loved that there was an app option to pay versus having to get change. Everything was very clean. The spots are level and very clean. I liked that the tables were plastic versus wood so they were easy to clean. We did use the restrooms where the showers were and although we didn't use the showers they were very clean. Overall the resort is clean and well organized. We will definitely make the 4.5 hour drive to this rv resort again. read more

March 2026. Seems to be more full this time of year than normal. Which means more noise and kids running ebikes at over 18 mph, no helmets etc. Same old lack of parenting from folks. Worse off is quite a few maintenance folks driving carts all over on their phones. Reported dog waste trash cans filled and 2 days later nothing done about it. Like many businesses lack of leadership and follow through is the norm. For the price really expect more from staff. I don't get golf carts off the road being driven in what is clearly not a marked path for them. Kids less than 16 driving carts all over, just not safe and they rent these carts to parents (that should not be ) Realize that is just stupid people , but maintenance folks drive right by and say nothing. Finally figured out why jacuzzi was so dirty and why clarity was bad ( I own a pool I know what clean looks like), dumb asses allow babies with diapers and floaties on, disgusting. Noisy drunk folks can't do much about , but in terms of whatever security is supposed to be on duty , not at all. Whoever location mngr is should' be removed or put on improvement plan as the brand is being hurt. Either way if you like quiet and rules that are enforced , skip this place. Our experience here this weekend was so bad it pushed me to write my first yelp review. We have been coming here for a few years (pre-Sun Outdoors) and enjoyed how spacious the sites were and the pools and general quiet relaxing atmosphere of the campground. But we've noticed that it has become increasingly rowdy, dangerous, and generally unpleasant. We convinced family and friends (what made up 7 other parties/sites) to spend the weekend with us and I don't think a single one of them will be returning, ourselves included. Our friends' site was without power, for almost 2 days, in 100 degree heat, with young kids. The front desk and general manager were unhelpful and dismissive. It took us and another friend troubleshooting the issue until ultimately they had to walk maintenance through how to change a breaker. And they even had to use our tools to make it successful. No follow up. No compensation for a subpar site. Just a "there's nothing we can do". But the worst part was how dangerous it is in the campground now. The golf carts are completely out of control. Not only are people tearing through the campsite at unsafe speeds blasting music well past quiet hours, many if not most of the carts were manned by young, unsupervised children. We were worried our kids or dogs were going to get run over and rightfully so, since Saturday night, there was an accident involving a golf cart driven by a child. There were serious injuries and one person was taken to the hospital by ambulance. I understand it's hard to police poor parenting and bad decisions but something has to be done or there needs to be more security to curb dangerous behavior. The bracelets for their cashless system were not working. One person decided to drive their electric scooter on the pool deck and crashed. You're paying a lot of money each night for a site plus a resort fee. It feels more like a shitty frat party than a resort. You can stay here if you want a place to leave your rig and then enjoy your day elsewhere. But don't expect to sleep well or enjoy the property much if you're looking for a relaxing getaway. read more

We stayed here after Christmas and before the new year. It was exactly what e needed. Just a few days away to unplug and recharge. Our site #34 was a pull through with a huge concrete pad, full hookups. The campground is HUGE! 2 heated pools, hot tubs, game rooms, life size chess, jenga and checkers. Fire pits and chairs throughout. We can't wait to go back! A short drive to Pismo, Hearst castle, Cambria. This is by far the nicest campground I've ever stayed in. Unfortunately the 10 staff, that are all around, do nothing to encourage people to park off the road, dogs are barking starting at 6am, their humans are equally disrespectful slamming doors and screaming kids beginning shortly after the dog barking starts. Admittedly I feel for the kids, it's not pleasant waking up at 6am to nonstop noise. I'm a heavy sleeper and even that didn't help here. If you want to use your awning good luck. I had three minor issues during three stays in 2025 and all of them ended up with the same result; no response from the staff other than acknowledging they understood my problem. There are long term people who stay here and they have different connection than short term people. We could not get connected even though the pole was right outside our spot. We've loved staying at this resort. We would have large family get togethers and their Resort pool was perfect for hanging out at. We haven't stayed there since they sold to Sun Outdoors. This past weekend we had a group meet us and were disappointed to say the least. Mostly with the pool. WARNING; Don't stock up on snacks and drinks and expect to hang out at the pool. They have someone policing the area and will not let you bring in any outside snacks or drinks. I'm not sure how you can offer a pool to a campground full of people and tell them to leave their food at home? Isn't that the purpose of camping is bringing all the good food and munch out? And don't expect to sit in comfortable Lounge chairs. They replaced their chairs with these newer hard wooden wavy looking things with no padding. It's like lounging on a rock! And PLEASE don't even think about stepping into one of their cabana's to make a call (because sun was bright couldn't see the phone screen) unless you pay their rental fee to rent their cabana they will run you out. Oh let me add, there were literally 2 people at the pool the whole day. No one was using their cabanas. The young girl policing the pool told me I had to leave and literally zipped up the cabana and secured it after I stepped outside. I know, I know, she's only doing what management told her to do. Their Tiny homes/cabins are nice for ones who want to camp but don't have a RV. However since returning since Sun took over we noticed they lack maintenance and beds are like air beds not real mattresses. When I checked out I gave a list of items they needed to repair, for example stair railing was falling off. Otherwise, the people at the front desk were nice and pleasant. read more

Excellent camping! I'm giving Cava Robles a five star, as I always do, however I have one suggestion. Newer trailers and motor homes with Heat Pumps should be sequestered from other motor homes and trailers that don't have them. I understand heat pumps are recent additions to rigs. For some reason manufacturers thought Heat pumps would be a positive addition. I have never noticed the level of noise generated until this trip. Cava Robles is still the best glamping spot around, but my sleep was really interrupted because we were surrounded by three rigs with Heat pumps. They Might as well be running generators... perhaps owners with these rigs can kindly turn off their noise generating heat pumps at night. read more

This is a really nice RV park. Spaces are large. What I absolutely hated and object to is being forced to sign up for a Link payment account with payment processor Stripe. This is because every wristband must be registered with a payment instrument. Link is like a PayPal account. Now everyone in my party over 11 has a Link account with MY credit card on file with Link. According to Sunoutdoors and Link- these accounts can be use "everywhere" - not just at Sun Outdoors. And used until you close the Link account, which doesn't happen automatically after check out. So after registering the goody wristbands - which too took 30 minutes in the heat of of RV while the kids miserably waited to go to the pool - we had the privilege of paying for disgusting pool food from the resort "restaurant ", and paying $10 for a coke with a splash of rum - literally a splash (if you must drink here , get a beer in a can), AND paying the automatic 20% gratuity for said watered down drink. Really, the place is nice. The large pool was cloudy and the pool furniture is sparse. I wouldn't swim in the water - looked dirty to me - but kids enjoyed it. I hope they don't get sick. There was a band playing on the patio from 6 to 8, and that was nice. We felt like the whole property was safe and quiet. The smaller pool looked very clean, but we could not figure out how to get in the gate as there was no attendant at 8pm and everything had key pads. Management has screwed this place with their wristband strategy. Just don't serve alcohol if that is the problem you are trying to solve. The drinks aren't really alcoholic anyway. This place is very expensive, but great if you have kids, want to hang by the pool or hang at your site when the breeze picks up in the evening it's a relaxing place. Except for the large pool everything was spotless. Except for the large pool furniture, everything was functional and well put together. The guy at the front desk is a super star. Very nice, polite, accommodating and welcoming. I don't think we will come back but solely because of having to register with Link for each person over 11, and then having to back to Link to shut down each account. This is a stupid waste of time and misuse of my payment credentials. read more

Lost our business--won't be returning! Our family has been camping here since the campground's opening weekend, but our most recent trip (9/12-9/15) was a huge letdown. Prices have skyrocketed, and to make things worse, the new pool rules are ridiculous. No outside food or drinks allowed--if you want to eat by the pool, you're forced to buy from their overpriced, mediocre bar/restaurant. The food was terrible, the bar drinks were watered down, and they tacked on a mandatory 20% gratuity. To top it off, the pool was nearly empty, yet my daughters were told they couldn't toss a ball, and we couldn't listen to our own music. The new lounge chairs were so uncomfortable, it's hard to enjoy relaxing poolside. Beyond the pool, the campground's upkeep has gone downhill. Two of the three public showers had broken shower heads, and I received a notice for parking in front of the Club House overnight, even though the lot was completely empty. For the first time ever, we saw the campground less than half full, with empty facilities everywhere. Unfortunately, we won't be back--we refuse to pay a fortune for such a mediocre experience. read more

We have enjoyed coming to Cava Robles for the past 4 years. Each stay has been fun and relaxing. My husband and I love to walk the beautuful, we kept grounds and using the gym facility, as well. We've also hung out at the pool area and took in a mini concert. The amenities are fantastic here! Lots of cozy seating throughout to take in the views, sunsets, watch kids at play. We have visited quite a few resorts, but this place is one of our favorites to visit. It has such a new, clean, fresh and upscale look to it. The back side sites are set on a hill side and depending on the site you rent, there are some nice views. I recommend just about any site towards the north side of the resort. For the kids: they have a playground, really nice swimming pool area with splash pad and putting green. They host daily activities & they recently built a new arcade. There is also an airport nearby that has a museum. Although, I have not tried it myself, I'm told the restaurant at the airport is tasty. For the adults: they have a nice walking trail, bocce ball & they are the process of building a new bar & bistro. This resort is also surrounded by wineries & golf courses. They have a wellness center which includes a gym, hot tub & lap pool. They typically host some sort of entertainment on the weekends. The only negative is shade. The trees at this resort are not developed enough to provide any form of shade. This area can be very hot in the summer time. Tips: if you sign up for their email notifications and follow their social media, you will find promo codes. They offer 20% off to military veterans. This place fills up on the weekends so weekday stays are recommended for a more quiet experience. Wi-Fi runs good on weekdays and bogs down on weekends. read more

The RV park is outstanding. It is clean and w all the amenities necessary for your RV. Recently, they did an upgrade to their recreation center whereby they installed a brick oven for pizza and a bar. Our experience w both was less than acceptable. Disclaimer, we wanted something easy and inside the campground. That was our mistake. The alcohol beverage ordered and received was unacceptable. The drink was served in a small plastic glass. If it contained a half ounce of alcohol, I would be surprised. The charge was $15. Now, I get it. Cut costs, it's the bottom line. No... not worth the money, I would avoid alcohol purchases. Second, we ordered a 12 inch pizza. Added two types of meat, pepperoni and sausage. I counted both toppings, 6 pepperoni's w 12 small size sausage bits. The pizza was dripping with cheese and tasteless. Stay at the RV park, excellent. If your hungry, go into town. A better experience is waiting. read more
