Ashley B is the most cutest, nicest and sincerest person ever. She's seriously so helpful and nice and always so cheerful. After spending the summer kayaking and random hikes, I've become very uneven in my coloration. So I decided to take advantage of the yelp deal ($25 for $40 off). My original intentions were to just go with the Level 2 unlimited month package, but I ended up opting for the level 5. Mostly standup UV, some lie down beds, and also an airbrush and mystic room. I had a gift certificate for this place. AMAZING spray tan. Love how it lasted so long, and looked so natural. Lindsay sprayed me for my wedding, and glad that I got it done several days ahead of the wedding, so it wouldn't bleed onto my dress. Since it was my first time, I had no idea the level of customer service to expect. You have a brief consultation about coverage, and how dark you want to get, and she custom blends your colors. It didn't smell like fake tan lotion at all.. (pleasantly surprised) After you are all sprayed, she dusts your skin with powder to set the spray. I wore dark clothes that day, and didn't worry about it rubbing onto my clothes. You may consider this... I'm glad I did this.. Sun studio LA has hands down the best spray tan. They have 5 different colors they can custom mix so you can choose just how dark you want to be. Chelsey did my most recent spray tan and it was perfect! Just the right shade and so natural looking. Can't wait to come back for another one! read more

I can't gripe about a thing here. The prices being too high? Maybe if we were in the butt crack of Wyoming. It's LA .. I expect to pay an arm and a leg for a tan, but the difference is the beds ROCK. I've tried plenty of other salons, including Total Tan in MDR, but ended up buying a package at Sun Studio. Their customer service is exceptional. Some of the nicest I've had in LA. Their products are great, the beds are awesome, they have a cool VIP counter with wipes, spray deodorant, silly stickers, hair ties, water .. even have specials sent via text message. I had never been tanning or a member of a tanning salon prior to my membership with Sun Studio. The ladies and gentleman there are super sweet and almost always remember my name before I get to the counter! Jeni is one of the best there, she will recommend the bed and lotion she thinks you would most benefit from based on your skin tone and what type of tan you are looking for. I've been looking for a new salon in the area and I can't believe I just found Sun Studio LA! The staff is helpful and so friendly and it feels like a vip spa! As far as tanning places go - this place was nice. Wide selection of lotions and great customer service. They seem a little pricey for me - but I dont tan often.. still though $60+ for a trial of the lotion and a tan seems like it's a bit much and I didn't see a noticeable difference in my skin color afterwards. I probably won't go back but not because they weren't nice or anything - the place was clean and very high tech - but I think I'll get my tan the old fashioned way. read more

By far the best tanning salon I have been to in Cali, Texas, and NYC. I have been airbrushed by people who TEACH other tanning salons how to use their Infinity Sun Airbrush system in Beverly Hills and the staff at Sun Studio LA does SUCH a better job. They are always so friendly, they know where my stuff is, what my name is, ask me my plans for the weekend etc...it's like going to see friends when I go to tan. That is quite a review that other poster left about them ripping her off. This place is your typical overpriced salon that employs a front desk simultaneously ill-informed and cheerful. Upon being asked a bed's total power, one responded with: "power is not important" when tanning. I explained to her that bulbs are measured according to their power. Thats what this little mark that says 160 Watts means. I've been to about 8 salons from Westwood to Venice over the course of 10 years. This salon is everything bad I encountered wrapped into 1....and then the price is jacked up 400%. Oh, and I'm a pretty fair skinned guy, and yet their bed gave me nil color, despite my making them give me the full time. Bulbs appeared dim and old. read more

Awesome customer service! All the girls are extremely nice and welcoming. I started going there earlier this year and have since moved to the San Fernando Valley but I still make the trip every couple of weeks to get airbrushed. You're pretty much completely naked when you get a custom airbrush but I have always felt very comfortable and taken care of. I never ask to be seen by a particular technician because they are all equally awesome at what they do. Rest assured that you will receive a 5 start treatment here. read more

Love, love, love this place! I stumbled upon "Sun Studio LA" accidentally, after conducting business at a place across the way. I was unable to open the door to the ladies room down the hall and a very pretty and sweet lady by the name of Shay, told me to come in and use theirs. Never seeing the inside of a tanning salon I took her up on her offer. I was impressed by how neat and clean this place was. I thanked her as I started to exit, and made a comment that I obviously don't need to go to a tanning salon (I am a fair completed black person, that sun worships.) or else I would become a patron. Shay seemed surprised by my statement and explained how a lot of their client base was either olive or brown in skin tone. She began to educated me on the benefits of tanning, skin care, health, and a few other things I was unaware of. She was never condescending with her explanations, but fun and informative and I got excited and decided to try it out! I believe my package was reasonable, I have nothing to comare it to, but my skin looks amazing! I have a healthy natural glow and I look forward to going in. My overall experience with "Sun Studio La" has been amazing and it was enhanced by Shay. It was because of her patience, professionalism, and knowledge that I embarked upon this experience and I am very happy I did. read more

I have been going to Sun Studio for nearly two years and have been a loyal customer coming in about once a week for a spray tan. It's always been a quick in and out experience and have loved my results. Once the pandemic hit I was unfortunately hit with pay cuts. I put a hold on service memberships (lashes, spray tan) through my bank so that I wouldn't get autodrafted during this "closed" period of time as I could not financially afford to be hit with charges that were forgotten to be turned off or skipped (I've had a lot of double charges and duplicated auto drafts that are a nightmare to get refunded on in the past not here but it's made me more weary). I received a text in July asking for payment, I was unaware they were open so I text asking if they are. I am then told that they were open in June, part of July but have had to close again on July 15th. Kevin, the manager in this scenario proceeds to tell me he will waive the 15 days in July but I have to pay for June. I am very upset by this as I've received no emails or notifications of the reopening. He then tells me that they've posted numerous times on Facebook, Instagram, and sent 4 emails. I do not follow them on social media, but I did check my email and not a single message from them. I told him I would pay a prorated amount for the days they were open in July but it was unfair to ask me to pay for June when I was never made aware of the reopening. He then says waiving the month on July, even though they were only open 15 days, was the best he could do. I asked him to send me proof that all of these emails were sent to me, if they had I would pay for the month of June. He then sends me an email with all the promotional emails attached but NO PROOF that they had ever been sent to me prior! I've now started receiving emails from them daily so clearly my correct email address was never on file. We could not come to an agreement so I asked my membership be canceled IMMEDIATELY! He then proceeds to tell me he is sending me to collections....over $84!! I am so furious but went ahead and paid it as I'm tired of dealing with this mess. I've also asked to speak on the phone several times and asked the salon to have him call me, but he's refrained. I'm sad to end a membership with a place I loved but I will not support a business that doesn't appreciate and work with their customers. I understand they've been hit with financial loss, but we all have and as a business owner you have a lot more to lose when you are greedy and don't value your customer relationships. read more

This place has the nicest, friendliest, most helpful staff you will find anywhere! My wife and I have been going to get our tans on here for about a year, and they've really helped us look our best. The whole place is always super clean, and we've never had to wait more than a couple of minutes for a bed to open up. Monthly memberships are very reasonably priced and they have a great selection of different intensity beds. If you like to tan and live anywhere near MDR this should be your spot... and for those who live further east there's a second location on Sepulveda (near another one of our favorites - Zankou Chicken!) near Santa Monica Blvd. We haven't been to that location but our memberships are good there so if we ever leave the west side...? read more

I love Hollywood Tans. They have plenty of promotions and opportunities for discounts, which works perfect with my student budget. I just got a custom airbrush there last weekend and it turned out beautifully. My only complaint WAS that all of their beds are standup, and I've felt claustrophobic in the dressing room... HOWEVER, they just got my FAVORITE beds in and I am SO EXCITED!!! As someone who used to work at a tanning salon, I know my beds, and the lotus and s class are definitely some of my favorite beds I've ever used. They are GREAT for getting good color. The girls who work there are all super friendly as well. It's always fun. Lotions are kinda pricey though, but they're like that everywhere. read more

I came here for the first time today and was really pleasantly surprised! I can to see about the pricing (as their website doesn't have any useful info on it) and ended up deciding it was too much of a dang good deal to pass up. The 3 month packages that they have are very affordable- much less than I payed in previous years at other salons. The facility was very clean and they seemed really centered on being sanitary, which I prefer. The girl who helped me was really helpful, she knew her shit and made me confident to listen to/take her advice. 10 minutes later, I walked out with a pretty awesome starter tan and some great new lotion (Chocolate is good times!) I also liked that there was music playing in the beds, because I use music to figure out how much time has passed (don't wanna burn my armpits.) That and it made it not boring. They also have a "beauty bar" which has stuff like hairspray, etc to fix yourself up after your tan. I was very fond of this, as I forgot a hair tie and wasn't looking forward to sporting a pale neck. Very good experience, I am indeed happy. I am not a fan of Fake tans, BUT, having said that, I am in love with Hollywood Tans. I travel quite a bit so I don't get much time to lay in the sun for a real tan. The first time I walked in the door, I knew this was the place. The staff are amazing, I can say that because I worked for a company with 38 restaurants, and I was in charge og training all staff. These guys, and Corinna are just the best. I own a restaurantbon the Venice Boardwalk, and people are always telling me what a beautiful tan I have, and I always say thank you but it's a because I go to the best tanning salon in town. I now have my brother hooked, and we go tan together. I was never a fan of tanning beds, I find them creepy, but at Hollywood Tans, you stand up. It's the best 8 minutes of my day. I walk in hand them my cell phone, grab my winkies, and I can relax for 8 minutes. I get the best overall even tan, they keep the tanning room so clean and the music they play while you are tanning is great. I want to tell Kevin the owner that Joey, Aaron, and Corinna are just fantastic. I could go anywhere and tan, but this is it for me, so Joey keep doing what you do and I will keep comming back. The employees are always so friendly and welcoming, there are tons of CLEAN booths (which equals no wait and no sanitary worries) and they are happy to tell you about packages, deals and all the different prices and booths. I've been to places before where the employees get ticked off if you are confused about packages or curious about prices, but these people truly want to make your tanning experience as relaxing and enjoyable as possible. This salon was recommended to me by a friend, and now I recommend it to my friends -- none of whom have been disappointed. Love this place! Nice & knowledgable staff. Happy hour on Thursday's and Fridays. I use their Versaspa spray tan and it's great. They always give you a hot towel while tanning which is a plus.I've heard lots of good stuff about their airbrush tanning (only $40 on Fridays until 5pm!) so I'll definitely be trying that soon. I've been to many tanning salons in my day and to rate this salon on a one to ten scale it would be an 11. After hitting the big 40 and having my dermo burn off a few 'spots' I've decreased my time under UV rays. But I still need a tan on my Irish, freckled skin every now and then. First call to Sun Studio for an airbrush, Bailey was perky and polite and informed me of the cost, etc.. I booked an appt.. Upon my arrival, it was Bailey at the front desk, AND the person who would be applying the spray. I had already exfoliated at home in the shower and avoided all lotions, showing up in loose fitted dark clothing for a 6pm appt., afterwards I grabbed dinner and went to bed. So standing in a room in your g-string with a stranger is not the most comfortable experience, but Bailey and I chatted through it about this and that and nothing really. Before I knew it, I was done. Perfect. Afterwards she told me that it could last up to 10 days....I was skeptical. Today is day 10 and I am still sporting some tan. Incredible. The color was the most natural I've ever had and the application was perfect, no weird lines or spots on the feet or hands. I may end up skipping the UVs all together this summer and just come here a few times a month for an airbrush. read more

I got a custom airbrush last week and it was one of the best I've ever had. I usually just come in for a quick versa spray, but opted for the airbrush in preparation for vacation. They custom mix your color and will contour problem areas as desired. The staff is always so friendly and professional so I should have known it would carry over into the airbrush experience. Looking for a place to get some of that beach color, but don't have the time to lay out or the weather hasn't been to par. Look no further for...Friendly staff and great beds. They have a lot of specials so you're always sure to get a good deal. Also the longer you are a member the more perks you get. Most importantly their facilities are clean. The Marina location is mostly stand up beds while their suplevuda location is mostly lay down. All in all couldn't ask for a better tab and spray tan studio. read more
