I had a very disappointing experience living in this building. The property does not feel secure -- packages are frequently stolen, which was extremely frustrating. The laundry facilities are often very dirty and poorly maintained. Additionally, the apartment was not properly cleaned before move-in, which was unacceptable. Another major concern is pricing transparency. The costs presented initially were not consistent, and additional charges kept appearing, making it difficult to trust the management. Overall, there were constant issues throughout my stay. For the price they charge, I expected a much higher standard of service and professionalism. Do not rent at this place!!!! 3263 Apt 201 has cockroaches as well as other apartments. A lot of maintenance issues and they don't care about the tenants. The utility bill keeps going up! All the smells from near by apartments creep up. Laundry room machines take your money and the washers smell like standing water. read more

It is true gem!  The location is great, friendly neighbors, very responsible and responsive management and fair rent. The other residents are for the most part, employed professionals and courteous. We have lived at Lafayette Commons for 9 months and have nothing but great things to say about living there. The manager is very attentive and goes out of there way to make you feel at home. If you ever have any service requests they are promptly taken care of. It feels like home. We Iove the dog friendly community and everyone cleans up after their pets with no problems. People are really friendly--sitting outside on a warm evening near the fire pit for a chat is not an uncommon experience! I am so glad I found this apartment building...thank you! read more

I lived in a first floor unit here for about a year. The units have dish washers, laundry on site, and I believe most are pet friendly. This complex seems to be under new management. The new manager Michael took good care to make sure any issues were resolved- I would recommend the Lafayette commons to people searching in the area. read more

I moved into the Lafayette Commons without ever seeing the apartment I signed the lease for in person, and I am glad to say that it exceeded my expectations. The units come with electric stove, fridge, microwave, oven, and dishwasher, and all are in working condition. Anytime we ever had a maintenance issue, Alfonso was here within 24 hours to resolve the issue. The laundry machines are easy to use with my debit or credit card, the outdoor community spaces are great to sit out on a warm day and read a book, and the secluded feel of the community while still being right off CA-24 cannot be beat. Leaving the Commons when my lease is up will be very difficult. I could not have asked for a better living situation, and a better management team (thanks, Taylor and Michael!)than what was provided at the Lafayette Commons. read more

I do not live here and I never have, I am only giving a shout out to Patty! This is a simple, no frills apartment complex. I would have chosen to sign a lease here if I did not have a medium size dog. Apartments are clean and bright, all refurbished, remodeled and they are priced competitively for the area. Patty, the office manager, was extremely helpful during my search for a new residence. If you have a small dog (like a toy breed or under 15 pounds) or a cat,or very lazy older dog, this place would work for you. The lack of patio/porch and grassy areas are what made me opt out. read more

I love living here aside from the fact there is no gym. That's my only regret, but I won't take off any stars because I saved a ton in rent compared to the other places I was looking at. I am being relocated for work and am finally moving out, but before I go I wanted to write a quick review since I really have had a great experience living here. If you're thinking of making the Lafayette Commons your home, I encourage you to check it out. I've included some points about the property below: Location: The Lafayette Commons is tucked back from the main street and it's quiet. The complex is right next to both Lafayette and Walnut Creek. Perfect for walking to coffee or grabbing dinner. Amenities: The complex has has a nice laundry room, barbecues for grilling, and even an outdoor seating area that I love to read at. Frankly, I'm glad they don't have a pool. In my experience, the cost is reflected in rent and you NEVER see anyone using it. Plus, it's the Bay Area, it isn't that hot.. Management: The management that I have witnessed has been great. They respond promptly, practice good customer service, and are very fair. Taylor is the manager that oversees the property, and it is apparent that she really wants the tenants to enjoy living here. Units: The units are not huge but they are plenty for most people. I've heard of some people having a little bit of mildew, just like most older buildings in the bay area (concrete construction). The management has provided dowels so you can safely leave the window cracked, so I'm not really sure why people are still having this problem. I guess cracking the window is too much responsibility for some people ! Anyways, the units are great overall. Price: The price is great for the area. The complex might not be butting up against downtown Lafayette, but then again, rents aren't over $3,000. I would much rather cruise a mile to downtown in exchange for saving over $1,000 a month! Highly UN-recommend this property management and apartment complex Cons: 1. Don't expect your deposit back. The management is shady. For example, I did a walk through with the manager and I received a move-out form signed off by the manager with a list what I would be charged for in terms of repairs/cleaning. Later I received a correspondence from the management for repairs NOT noted on the move-out form, management kept my entire deposit with the exception of a few dollars. Basically our deposit was used to renovate the apartment at our expense. 2. Don't expect follow through. The manager doesn't have maintenance follow up on work order requests 3. Broken/OOO equipment :\ The is always one-two washers or dryers broken, which makes doing laundry over the weekend challenging. 4. No Parking There is no guest parking and street parking is limited. Other residents or guests will park in your designated spot and management does nothing, they will not tow if you call either. 5. MOLD The apartments are old and poorly ventilated, I discovered thick green mold growing on behind and under my furniture, clothes (in a box), bed and sofa. (And I kept my windows opened as management suggested). I lost personal items and who knows the damage to my respiratory health 6. Construction There is construction at the corner, loud and bothersome and bringing worker traffic/parking issues 7. Apartment quality The walls are paper thin, you can heard everything. There is no storage in the apartment: no hall closet, no pantry and no bathroom cabinet. The kitchen is extremely small, can't hold much and doesn't fit much. Couldn't use the crisper drawer in the fridge because the fridge door didn't open wide enough to open crisper. The marble floors are cracked and chipped. The heavy mirrored doors are loud and difficult to open and close. The bathroom sink is angled down, so you couldn't leave anything on it without it falling in the sink (and remember there's no bathroom cabinet to put anything). The stairs to the building are dated and in mediocre condition. The elevator doesn't work The BBQ never had gas in it, ever! I checked multiple times. The outdoor sitting area, the sitting are is a rotted wood deck, all splintery because the wood was never treated. The pillows and cushions are mildewy and full of spiders (because they're left out and in the rain) Pros: 1. We had a bad mold attack in the apt after living in it for couple of months. We were given a temporary apt for a week to clean up mold. They changed the window to stop the problem from reccuring. Since I had a 7 month old baby, I decided not to move into the same apt. I was living on month to month and the apt manager agreed to waive the 30 day notice since there were no other apt we could rent either in lafayette commons or meridian (another apt they are managing) due to unavailability. 5 of our suitcases were totally mold ridden in the attack. The apt manager said she will reimburse $300 for the suitcases. But when I got the move out statement, I was shocked to see $270 cleaning fee. We cleaned the apt before moving out. Essentially, they just cancelled out the reimbursement using cleaning charges. I didn't like the underhand tactics. read more

I currently attend St. Mary's College and I chose Lafayette Commons because of its central location and quiet neighborhood. Taylor, the apartment manager always responds promptly and any requests I have are taken care of quickly. One other nice thing regarding management is the maintenance staff, who do a great job keeping the grounds clean and are very friendly. The laundry room is open 24 hours, which is great. There was a couple-week period when a few machines were out but they they were fixed pretty quickly. The apartments have been renovated with granite counter tops, double paned windows, fully equipped kitchen appliances and marble flooring throughout (with the exception of the bedrooms); those who have pets will appreciate this feature! Parking is limited but that's no secret if you're familiar with the Bay Area. Each apartment has one assigned parking space but there is generally zoned street parking available nearby, so having guests over isn't much of an issue parking-wise. I've lived at Lafayette Commons for almost a year now and have enjoyed my stay thus far. Not to mention, the rent is significantly affordable compared to other apartment communities in the area. lafayette commons is a horrible excuse for an apartment community in lafayette. the units were poorly constructed and falling apart. didn't have level ground in any unit i saw or there was mold and mildew in every unit i got to see.(when i lived here i was able to go into multiple units that where empty and left unlocked when unrented). the property manager anna is very kind and well mannered but completely useless when it comes to a problem. she is never there and takes months to fix any problem. we had no hot water coming out in our shower and that was never fixed after a year of living there and more then 8 months of unanswered calls. the ac broke multiple times and was not fixed same story. deposit was returned almost a month after the required by California law 21 days. no guest parking and city tickets u for parking on the street for more then 2 hours during the weekdays. many better places to live for the price. avoid this place if you can read more
