The staff was friendly and helpful. I am not happy with the lenses that I received, I went in after about six months because the material was lifting on the edges, which I have never seen. The did replace them at no cost due to manufacturer defect, but I was told that they could only do the replacement one time. The lenses have done the same thing again with the material along the edges. I have been cleaning them with the lens spray and cloth that I received from them. I will be going to another Eye Care business for my new glasses. read more

Short: This should be your go-to location for eye care services. The quality of care and attention to detail is second to none. Dr. Pham is the real deal! Long: I was visiting family in Arizona and and cracked my glasses on a hike. I have Kaiser and it would have taken forever to get them replaced. Worse still, I had my honeymoon coming up in 3 weeks and needed something STAT. Dr. Pham and the team at Sun Valley Eye Care were able to make it happen and my prescription isn't easy which made it all the more impressive. I had a list of ideal things I wanted with the understanding that I wouldn't be able to get them all checked off given the time restrictions. Somehow Dr. Pham made it happen. Lightweight pair of Raybans that were an older model that were harder to find with ultra thin lens because my prescription was so high. He had them delivered to directly to my house! On top of all that, Dr. Pham included a pair of clip on sun shades for my trip. Class act and such a thoughtful touch that you would not get at the bigger companies. 10/10 recommend!! read more

Dr. Chantelle Clarizio and Dr. Loc Pham are great! My sister, pops, and I have been going to this location for at least 6 years...? I cant remember cause its been so long! Glasses, Contacts, Sun Glasses, vision checkups--feels like I've ran the course with them. They are always quick, friendly, and very transparent. Equipment (and my eyes) may not cooperate or work as intended at all times but it's very clear that they try their hardest for the best experience. During the pandemic they have removed the waiting area and limited capacity. Wait in the car if needed and have your mask. Hand sanitizer is everywhere. No Eye Dialation or Air Puff test at this time made available. It was comforting to see the equipment and frames being cleaned before/after. You can try the frames on with your mask on and if you'd like they have an area for you to take off your mask in front of a mirror to help you decide. read more

The people there are so friendly and explained things very well. I felt like I mattered, like we where family!! They worked with us on what was covered and what wasn't covered. My kids felt very comfortable there and where so patient with all of the inquisitive questions. There are pros and many cons about Sun Valley Eye Care that I and the customers who came after me experienced. Customer service is exceptional. Dr. Pham, is very well-educated and caring. There is nothing to complain about him. He gives personalized care to my mother, which is something rarely seen in current doctors although they were taught about ethics in school. He noted that since my mother has dark iris, he would use a different medication to dilate her pupil. That's the only great thing about this place - the doctor. Waiting time was horrible. We were earliest to come on a weekday. However, after getting the dilation drop to my mom's eyes, we had to wait for at least 30 minutes before being called back in. The waiting time was so long I would recommend not squeezing too many patients in a single timeframe. I believe I saw three other customers then. Information was not delivered clearly. When I made an appointment, I asked for a form and told them to copy our insurance card first so that when I came in, the insurance issue would not linger. However, we were told to pay $35 copay only before receiving the service. After my mother finished her eye exams (diabetic eye exam, refraction, and dilation), we were told that our insurance does not cover the refraction (the exam that you get prescription to buy glasses). This is NOT possible on our end. My parents have been visiting Nationwide and 20/20 Images alternatively for the past 10 years, using the same insurance and never had to pay anything than the co-pay and dilation. I was not sure why we then received a bill of $50 for refraction. Initially, immediately after the exam, the receptionist informed us that the insurance seems like it does not cover the refraction and I said that is NOT possible with my insurance because my family of three have been going to eye exam every year covered. I would understand if it was for dilation because the insurance doesn't cover but dilation does not cost $50 anyway. Dr. Pham went over that dilation was included (to my surprise) when he went over the form. Or else, my mother would not ask for dilation. Either way, refraction would have been covered. The whole bill issue would not be a problem if they check our insurance beforehand. If I knew that they'd ask for $50 I would cancel the appointment on the spot when we went. That was the only reason why I gave them the insurance card first to make sure that they take this health insurance and the only cost that we would pay is $35. Another family also experienced the same thing at that time. The receptionist said that their insurance did not cover their eye exam and the father said that the insurance does. She checked back later and realized she was wrong. In conclusion, we will not come back due to the unclear information we received. read more

Dr. Pham was quick, but thorough and incredibly informative throughout my appointment. The level of care and information is more than I've ever received from going to the eye doctor. I had made my appointment online and received a detailed email regarding the insurance information and forms. Following those directions I knew and received exactly what I expected in terms of price. This office uses state of the art testing and equipment to provide the best level of care. I noticed other reviews discussing the price and insurance, however as long as you read their emails and forms you're signing, no charge should be unexpected. It was great that we found the office was close by our house and he speaks Vietnamese because my mother in law just moved here from Vietnam. I wish Yelp had six stars because that is what Dr. Pham deserves. He is so gentle, kind, informative, genuine and really has the best interest at heart for his patients. The level of work he does is like no other. He makes you feel comfortable and explains everything thoroughly. I've been to several doctors over the years and by far he is the best. He takes time to do the exam. I was wearing -4.50 lens and noticed things had been blurry lately. I thought my eyes were getting worse and that I might need an increased in power. All the doctors I have been to before would take my current eyeglasses' reading and work up from there. All the prescriptions I have been given in the past are always up in power, or at the same. To my huge surprise, Dr. Pham gave me a -3.5 prescription after thoroughly checked my eyes. He said my eyes are getting better, not worse, and that I should be at -3.5. After getting my new glasses at -3.5, I am now seeing perfect vision, I can read the smallest letters on a TV screen and can clearly see street names even at night. Not only that, my eyeglasses now are now much lighter because the power has been reduced to 3.5. I am ecstatically thrill ! I wish I had lived in Arizona so I can do annual checkup with him. I strongly recommend Dr Loc Pham. It has been 6 months or so since I went to Dr Pham, but did not write a comment until now because I can't seem to find time. The reason I do it now because I am in need of a dentist. I started Googling around to read people's comments to locate a good dentist. I found the comments are extremely useful. My first time at Sun Valley Eye Care was nothing less than phenomenal. Dr. Loc Pham was very patient with me while answering my questions about my eye care. A few years back I was misdiagnosed and was given a prescription that was way too strong, causing headaches and eye pain. Dr. Loc Pham explained the difference between my eyes (one is near sighted and one is far sighted). He showed me photos of my eyes versus an unhealthy eye. Really shady optometrist. Initially Dr. Pham seemed like a nice optometrist and all went well with the appointment. Upon paying, the receptionist informed me that I owed an amount that was more than I expected. I asked why I wasn't charged the amount for the basic exam. The receptionist replied, "we don't really do Level 1 exams here." At first I didn't question it and just paid. Later on, I called my insurance and they told me for my prescription, there was no need for a Level 2. I never left a review as I just wrote the office off but now they keep calling me to make another appointment and I wanted to make it known why I won't be returning. read more

These days too many doctors like to push people through like cattle and they don't take the time to explain anything. You won't feel like that at this office. The communicator with the doctor was great. I went in because I have 20/20 vision but have been getting headaches from long hours at the computer. My husband and I recently went to Dr. Pham for the first time and our first experience with the Doctor and staff were very positive. All were extremely accommodating, helpful and professional. The problem that we had was the treatment we were given after choosing to go elsewhere for our frames. The cost of frames at Sun Valley Eye Care were triple the cost of Costco and though we'd like to support local business, it just didn't make sense, as we were purchasing three frames. In any event, after our glasses were made from Costco, our prescriptions didn't seem to be right. Costco verified making the glasses according to the prescription and verified their measurements, then recommended we go back to the doctor and have them re-check the prescription. (By the way, Costco has made glasses for us three times in the past, and have always done an excellent job.) Sun Valley wouldn't give us the time of day,(without recharging us) because we went elsewhere for the frames. They absolutely refused to have any involvement in considering that maybe they made an error. To me, that's unacceptable and shows a lack of integrity. For Sun Valley, it was all about money. So, what started out as a wonderful experience, wound up being a major disappointment. Don't go there unless you want to pay triple for your frames and if that's the case, they'll treat you like royalty. read more

Dr. Pham always answers all of my questions and explains to me everything that's going on so I literally see everything going on. They also helped me out when my glasses had a problem and warrantied them out so I could get a new frame. Dr. Clarizio was the first doctor to notice an abnormality on my eye that had been there since I was a child. Dr. Loc Pham is an absolute perfectionist, very attentive to detail, professional and would go to length to make sure I understood the condition of my vision, the eye care plan and so forth. But most of all I am so grateful because he explained to me a new therapy, the Ortho-K is called, which was so beneficial to my two preteen kids. They were both wearing glasses and their vision was getting worse every year. When Dr. Loc Pham mentioned and explained this new method of eye care I was sold on it, I didn't hesitate a second and so my kids became his patients. Needless to say they don't need glasses anymore and their vision level has been like frozen in time, it doesn't get any worse anymore. I strongly recommend Dr. Loc Pham, as well as Dr. Chantelle M. Doctor Pham was great, as was the guy behind the counter who's name I don't remember. My appointment was at 10:30 and I didn't even see the the doctor until after 11:15 which is fine, appointments run late, I get that. However, what I don't get is the absolute lack of professionalism displayed by Doctor Clarizio and the woman behind the counter who apparently was her sister. While sitting in the waiting area I witnessed multiple spats between the two, acting childish and catty towards each other. After telling Doctor Clarizio multiple times that I wasn't interested in any frames they offered, she continued to throw options at me until I had told her no to every option they had. When I asked if I was able to get frames elsewhere she very rudely said, "ya, but I'll have to charge you if you want me to do anything with them ever." She rang me up for the eye drops they said I needed and she was unable to figure out how to swipe my card correctly, first telling me I didn't have the funds, then telling me I was trying to use an expired card, both of which were incorrect. She isn't used to working behind the desk, which is fine, but instead of accepting help from her sister when it was offered, she smacked her hand away and told her that she had it when clearly she didn't. I finally just gave her cash to avoid further issues with my card and when she gave me my change, which was $17 in ones, she proceeded to say, "people are going to think you have a new hobby!" She then laughed at her joke that I didn't find very funny, let alone professional. Maybe it was an off day and stresses were high, but due to the experience with Doctor Clarizio and her sister, I will not be returning to this practice despite being treated well by Doctor Pham, nor would I recommend it to any friend. read more
