The last breakfast of our gang's 16-day cross-country road trip brought us to this little hole in the wall. Since 1947, this small diner/grill/café has been serving the locals. We arrived just in time, and found the only open table. The place smells amazing and is kind of loud, but that's because everyone seems to know everyone. Daisy, the owner's wife, was our server. She is very efficient, friendly, and attentive. Our food was very excellent, in particular the home made biscuit was among the best I've ever had, and the CBH was also home made and different (in a good way). The CB was thinly sliced and shredded and mixed with potatoes, onions and peppers (the last two of which are optional). It was really good. The "kitchen" is basically a grill against the wall, and you can watch your food being prepared. One of our group, "Pots and Pans" said the oatmeal was excellent and not instant. All in all, you get generous portions at a reasonable price. We were fortunate in that there were about a dozen people waiting outside to be seated when we left. One cautionary....Sunbury is smack in the middle of OSU Buckeye territory. Do not wear any Michigan Wolverine clothes, or yell, "Roll Tide." We stopped in on a Sunday morning and expected a lengthy wait but only waited about 15-20 minutes for a table. When we walked in, it took us back in time - you're surrounded by nostalgic memorabilia. The food was excellent but our server Daisy made our visit exceptional. She was working her tail off, had a great sense of humor, and was a breath of fresh air to start our Sunday. Me and my husbands were on a road trip traveling from GA to Dayton and found this quaint little breakfast spot! All the staff were really friendly and welcoming! We asked for recommendations and both our waitress and the cook who came from behind the grill to rave on the breakfast burrito. So that's what both me and my husband ordered. It also came with home fries. This burrito was large enough for us to split and yes we ended up having left overs to take home. The great thing about it was there was not all the EXTRA tortilla at the ends that had to be pulled off and thrown away. We had more than enough to eat between us. We would defiantly stop back there for a bite on another road trip! PS: The BEST COFFEE I've ever had!!! read more

When you step into this diner, you immediately know that you are in a family owned establishment that values their customers. They are not discriminatory of locals versus new faces - everyone is greeted with a smile and a small conversation, as if you've known them for years! The service is friendly and efficient - 10/10 The establishment is clean and maintained, though cluttered as most small businesses can tend to be - 10/10 The food...The food is amazing! I've been there 3 times and each time I've tried something different from the menu. The breakfast items are hearty and fill your plate (and belly)! When ordering lunch items, I think my favorite was the cheeseburger; it is freshly pressed when you order from fresh ground beef. You can pick your toppings - and don't forget to add waffle fries! - 10/10 Quality for price: the pricing is more than fair, especially for a small establishment - 10/10 I sincerely hope that everyone in the area has the chance to stop for a meal when they are in the area. Pro - Stopped here by accident - the breakfast place I always go to was having staffing challenges. I was starving and this was the next closest option. It was great! - We had breakfast burritos with sausage, mushroom, and tomato. The burrito is grilled, which gave the outside a buttery, crunchy taste. It is served with home fries. I like my home fries crispy - so next time I will request a few extra minutes on the grill for the home fries. Con - We were at the table right by the swinging doors for the kitchen. They wrapped toast in paper to not make the toast soggy and they wrapped burritos and sandwiches in aluminum foil. Amazing little diner...food was delicious, but the owners were the stars of this shiny little diamond in the rough. Left with a bag of cookies our server (also the owner's wife) baked for all their customers. Will definitely be back, and I didn't mind the drive from Columbus at all for this wonderful little place. Went on a Thursday morning around 10:30ish and got a seat at the front counter (not to mention the offer from a sweet couple to share their booth) right away. Everyone here really tries to get to know you, and if you come often, they'd even remember your usual. It's a small diner with limited seating and loads of people wanting to eat here, so keep that in mind when trying it out- you may have to walk a bit for parking and wait a bit for a table or counter space, but the wait is worth it and the walk back to your car will burn some of those calories off. We are new to the community and I've always wanted a place where the staff gets to know you. I finally found it! Great diner food and friendly staff. They'll do Mickey/Minnie Mouse pancakes for the kids and my daughter loves it, especially when she gets to watch them make it from the counter. What's not to love? The place is full of amazing people Who continuously go out of their way. Throughout the quarantine, the staff continued to operate while serving outside. The waitress Was literally running across the street with a hot pot of coffee for refills. I will always recommend this place considering I went here as a kid and it's still operational. Really impressed with our breakfast this morning. Visited for the first time, was greeted immediately and told we could sit anywhere. While we were getting situated my sons foot was hurt and our waitress rushed over to help. She brought coloring books and an ice pack from the kitchen, and continued to ask how he was doing multiple times during breakfast. She really made the situation so much better and really went above and beyond for us when I know she was very busy. The food was excellent and quick. Loved the atmosphere! I've lived in this area for 15 years and this was my first trip to the Sunbury Grill. I should've tried it many years before. I had scrambled eggs, home fries with gravy on top, raisin toast and one blueberry pancake. My husband had the Sunbury Slammer (with a side of mush)... we both rolled out of there stuffed to the gills!! Definitely going back!! Oh, and the staff was WONDERFUL!!! read more

Great food and owner husband and wife are nicest people ever. Went in expecting to order late breakfast and ended up having homemade Gumbo made by owner. Coffee was super good. Chatted with folks about Covid and their business and just had a really nice time. We were on our way from Cincinnati back to Cleveland and will make the diner a must stop on future trips.
