We had this company install our pool. Service was terrible. Install was subpar. Price point was top of the quotes. Tile continues to come loose and fall off Fasteners in the skimmers are rusting. Who puts fasteners in a pool that rust? Bull nose around the pool continues to chip and crack Bow in the deep end of the pool that they refused to fix Please see pictures of the result not 3 years later from their install. John, his sons and the rest of the team were all great to work with during our consultation, installation and post install. We were told that we wouldn't be able to have a pool due to improper zoning of our subdivision that was never corrected John put us in touch with an attorney that was able to help us navigate this process to get things corrected. John Paravola is the owner of this company as well as the Midwest Representative for San Juan Pool dealers. Our pool installer went out of business mid project (patriot pools, Chuck Haling). Acting as an agent of San Juan Pools, John Paravola was supposed to coordinate the repair of a smal hole for free and help us find another San Juan dealer to finish the job. Not only did John not help us, he made our situation worse and ultimately he refused to even tell us where the hole is to be repaired. He's a really untrustworthy dude. read more

We have tried to get John to come back out and fix our LED light that has now been out for 2 years. He refuses to reply to any text or return phone calls. I would make sure you get EVERYTHING in writing. This guy makes a lot of promises that he doesn't keep. No response to emails or voice messages and is VERY good at telling you exactly what you want to hear. This is an update to my previous review. Sunco put in a new heater for us late last summer. Opened pool and heater shuts off shortly after it turns on, well, the heater that was put in need a bigger gas line. They took the easy way and just put in the heater. We were told that it's standard for this heater to have bigger gas line. This guy is more of a salesman than a pool guy. Just wants the sale and $$$$. We were told we were the third pool they were constructing for the season. Due to the heavy rains, he was behind schedule by over a month. They seem to be a small outfit, portraying themselves as larger than they are. He was always blaming someone or something for delays. We consistently were told about his own personal issues, i.e., having a party so too busy to work on something, etc. With all of the delays, no one came to check on the state of the water which became smelly and incredibly dirty. It was so dirty that it was green. The owner admitted to us that that should never have happened. Mistakes were made with the stamped concrete deck relative to the color, as well as workmanship, which then forced us to reconsider the tile that goes around the top portion of the pool. They used the wrong concrete color and release, and did not own up to it. We discovered the bags of concrete in the garbage on our own. To date, the concrete is chipping, and the rough edges and tape around the drains and other vents still remain. They also damaged it when they were installing the cover for winterizing the pool, which they also left dirty before they closed it. (We were assured by the owner that it would be cleaned first.) They did not properly grade the surrounding area, which we had to engage our landscaper for that work. Huge rocks and debris were left in the dirt, thus incorporated into the soil and clay when they were grading. The rope lighting around the rim of the pool is still not secured properly. Due to the lateness of the season (they did not finish the actual pool until mid August), we discussed having the appropriate corrections, i.e. concrete issues, made at the beginning of the season. They did not adhere to the agreement, nor did they follow through with all appropriate steps for opening a pool. They did not check the equipment, namely the heater and pump, both of which had become inoperable. To date, the heater, which needs a new wiring harness, is still not working. Because they did not clean the pool prior to closing, mold grew in the tile grout, which we cannot get rid of. As a result, we pulled back our $475 pool opening fee, since they have been unresponsive and are only focused on building pools, not servicing their work. Their concrete contractor refuses to handle the concrete issues, nor stand by their work, and our texts, emails and phone calls to the owner of Sunco go unanswered. He has not turned over warranty paperwork for the fiberglass insert, and the the fiberglass pool company is also unresponsive. When confronted with these issues, two of the times we actually did get to speak with him, he was extremely rude and unprofessional. He seems completely uninterested in finishing the job. Considering the amount of money we paid, and the fact that he would show up on our doorstep without notice looking for checks, one would think that he would honor the contract and the work. read more

I would be very cautious of signing with Sunco pools as we regret having signed with them to do our pool. I read the negative reviews but thought we would take a chance and I'm sorry we did. We had our pool installed 2 years ago and John (the owner) was great until he got a check then it went downhill from there. He is a great salesman to get the sale but doesn't want to focus on customer service after the sale. Our pool turned out nice AFTER we hire others to come in and fix things that John and his crew messed up like underground piping, the auto cover and the automated system (just for a few examples). The crew he hired was very nice but didn't do things professionally which ended up tearing up our lawn and costing us thousands to repair our lawn. I'm grateful we knew people who could help us repair things and keep the costs lower than normal. This company is not detail oriented and I felt like maybe they took on too many jobs at once. I contacted John a few times, after the installation to come show us how to actually use our system and about having some upgrades done (that we were going to pay for). Each time he blew us off or told us to call the manufacturer. We had an issue with our Pentair system and just needed John to come show us how to use it since he sold it to use. He told us to "call customer service because they have guys sitting behind desks that are there to help me". Thank goodness for Pentair because they sent a manager out to help us. This company is super unwilling to help once they have your money and once your pool is in they are good as gone. It's sad because we have had 3 other friends put in-grounds pools in and we had to tell them not to use Sunco. Normally we want to recommend who we used but not in this case. I wish we would have went with a company who cared as much about customer service as they did about getting their check!!!!! read more

John and his staff have been taking care our pool for nine years. He is like family! When we put the pool in he was there supervising and guiding us every step of the installation. It was the best decision we made. Our yard is an oasisJust ask our four sons, daughter-in-laws and nine grandchildren who spend many of their weekends here all summer. And each year John opens and closes our pool which is the best way to eliminate any worries. His staff is reliable, courteous and hard working! This past summer we replaced our heater. With just one call to John we had a new heater the following morning. Our grand babies need really warm swimming water . The workmanship and neatness of the installation was outstanding.
