Edit: pay no attention to his response about reaching out to him via text message, I have a massive text message chain with him, including a screenshot that he sent me showing his bank account which, in my opinion, is AI generated showing a debit of $56,952 on three different account numbers. Yes, three different account numbers with the exact same debit. It makes no sense, and unfortunately, I gave him months and months and months and now I have to take him to Small Claims Court. Be very very careful when dealing with this company. I had them out several times and last year, just before winter, we were told our u it needed new displays and that cost would exceed $1,000. We agreed and, after paying for the parts, we were told that because of the winter weather, they would come out on April 8th to do the work. April 8th came and went and I texted to see what was going on. At first he claimed that we didn't have an appointment, then I sent him a screen shot of the exchange. After that he came me the runaround telling me they could not locate the screens that I had already paid for. After weeks they came over presumably with screens that they found in the warehouse that didn't fit. Finally I told them I was able to source the screens from...wait for it...the manufacturer and suddenly we had an install date. That was on around May 23rd. No I have reached out to him and he is not responding. Absolutely appalling behavior. And before I get some stupid response from the owner about the truthfulness of this review know this, I have every text and I will add them to corroborate everything I've written. read more

I've worked with Cruz for the better part of 5 years. He's always been a bit spotty on arriving precisely on the date he sets, but he is usually dependable to complete the work . . . eventually. Unfortunately, something happened this year and it has resulted in Cruz effectively stealing money from me. He indicated I needed a new pool cover and other equipment for my pool. In the past, I've paid a significant deposit and it has not been a problem (parts were typically installed in a couple of days of the deposit unless the parts were on backorder). This summer, he took a deposit for the pool cover and equipment and has yet to install the equipment. Offering up excuses or basically refusing to return my text messages. At this point, with winter approaching, I've run out of options and will be turning this matter over to the police. I would not recommend doing business with Happy Pools. read more

Initially they did a good job. As they got busy with other customers, I was left on the back burner. When they closed my pool, all they did was throw a cover on it and they did not drain any water. As a result my liner is now stained. They are very nice, they probably prioritize with bigger customers. Update... After posting my review, the owner decided to contact me on my cell, not through yelp. It was easy to make appointment with Happy Pools and John came 2 days later and assessed the problem.He is very knowledgeable, professional and polite. We have an older Jacuzzi bathtub that started leaking. Many plumbers won't even touch them so I was so happy to have found happy pools. They were very prompt and even arrived a little early. I had ordered the part ahead of time luckily it was the right one. The replacement is not easy to work in because the builders didn't really leave a lot of space when they installed but he figured it out. Title: Horrible Experience - Do Not Use Happy Pools! We had Happy Pools install a liner in our above-ground pool, and within weeks, there were numerous large divots in the sand under the liner. Now, the pool leaks, and walking in the pool is dangerous--you could easily twist your ankle! We asked him to come and take a look and he responded that he would come out. As usual with him, he promised to come out and never did. We wanted others to know of the poor service we had, so we wrote a review here. He responded to that! This company is taking advantage of my elderly parents in Chicago. They took the first 50% of the payment to do the job and began work but then are negligent to respond to my father to finish up the job. They are now playing games with my parents and are not honoring their contact. We are currently working with an attorney to address this but please do not work with this company. I am a small business owner myself so I understand how important it is to rely on reviews. However, the owner Cruz, is extremely disrespectful, does not respond to any texts after paying for services, and the one time he did reply it was disgusting and unprofessional. Not only did he install the wrong liner, he misquoted me on the price. when I questioned him on the misquoted amount, he repeatedly swore at me and called his team to walk away from the job. In addition to leaving me with a half ass job he also purposely broke my pump allowing tons of sand to enter my pool. Amazingly responsive and friendly. Cruz, Johnathon and Moises not only did a great job of closing and opening my pool but they actually EDUCATED me so I could do somethings for myself. When I had an emergency problem with my pool pump, they showed up in 15 MINUTES to solve the problem (of course I do live close to their office, but still, who else shows up that fast??) They pointed out several things that were done wrong by the pool installer and they're going to fix everything for a very reasonable cost. I'm so happy that I found Happy Pools! read more

What a lifesaver. My hottub stopped working right before I had to fly out for a work trip to NYC. Given I would be gone for a week, I was afraid my hottub would freeze in the cold chicago winter. Happy Pools and Spa immediately took my call and squeezed me in the next morning. I was able to have a friend meet them at my home and they were miraculously able to fix everything on the spot. After the replacement we had some troubles and I couldn't get them out to look at the huge divots in our pool. I'm not sure if it was their fault or a faulty liner or even some freak accident. They came back and fixed everything when the opening the pool for summer 2021. They are professional perfectionists who do amazing work. Communication was great. Being out of state and trying to get my long term investment property up to speed remotely after a long term tenant moved out, I needed various specialists to access the unit for various services to get the home back up to being rentable again. Most service providers I have used are challenging to work with, especially remotely (Don't answer the phone, don't return calls, tell you they'll call you back in 20 minutes and never do, etc...). He answered his phone when I called, set up an appointment, showed up on time, texted me before arriving and before leaving with updates, fixed my jacuzzi at very minimal costs, letting me know what went wrong and how to prevent it from happening again, checked out my dishwasher to confirm it is working fine and that no further action is needed. Our Hot Tub started leaking over the holidays. We were losing water rather quickly and we were worried that it would freeze if we shut it off. We reached out to Cruz and he was at our place the next day to make the repairs. While he was here, he also replaced an ejector pump in our basement bar. Happy Pools did a great job on our pool. I called Cruz to come out to provide a quote... was honest and reasonable during his visit. As we just purchased the home and not familiar with the historical maintenance of the pool, we hired Cruz to refinish our pool shell. Unfortunately, Cruz found a leak in the main drain during a pressure test. His team was able to break the concrete and get to the plumbing to remediate the issue. As part of the plumbing fixes, we opted to replace our pump to a variable speed pump, very quiet compared to our previous one. In the end, Cruz resolved our leaks, gave us a great finish on our pool and replaced the mechanicals in our pump room. However, some simple communication could have easily been used to avoid such a situation.
