The dental hygienist is SO incredibly rude. All she does is talk down to you during your cleaning. She shames her patients and makes them feel bad. She doesn't know how to properly numb her patients for cleaning and I've heard of multiple people experiencing numbness way after having their procedure done. Would not recommend this place ever. read more

I've had nothing but great experiences with this Dental office. Everyone from the reception to the Dental team have been great. I've received exceptional care along with being able to choose the order in which I undergo different procedures and treatments. Everyone is very friendly and I have been explained in detail what issues my mouth needs addressed. I'd like to point out that people are always quick to point out problems they have without also taking into account the good things as well. This is the issue with any business or product. There has been many changes over the years of us going to Family Dentistry of Buckeye. However, after my most recent appointment about a week and a half ago on 6/3/25, it may have been the last. When Dr. Yi was there, along with Julie, things ran so much smoother. During this visit, my hygienist was very kind and thorough. Unfortunately, Erika is very professionally condescending. There was a very passive aggressive manner as she had her back to me and asked if I had changed my phone number as I did not respond to a text message within an hour prior to my appointment. However, she did verify the confirmation text and phone call were received just a couple days prior. I was told I had a credit on my account and I would not need to pay $25 for fluoride. Upon checking out, Erika informed me there was actually a balance on my account. The balance was from December of 2024 and it was not for any treatment I, myself had. I asked what it was from as I had received no notification from there office at all. Erika kept referring back to the explanation of benefits from my insurance and stating this should explain it to me. She spoke to me as though I should already know this and said it was up to me to check it. First, this balance was from work my husband, not me, had done in December of 2024. Second, I verified he did pay the office at that time but that was just an "estimate". Third, we never received ANY statement from Family Dentistry showing a balance or amount owed. Erika was professionally rude and her behavior was not appropriate for patient care. I called the office two days later and spoke with, I believe, Sky who was not the office manager. I explained the situation and she apologized for my feelings stating it must have just been a vibe in the office. Explained there is/are issues with a system switch over around that time and statements were not being sent. The balance was of course paid at that time as we are very diligent on paying our bills. Originally, I had asked to speak with the office manager Kim but she was out for the week. Sky did tell me she would relay the information but as of yet, I still have not heard anything from the office. Bottom line: Do not be condescending and speak down to patients. Be sincere and have knowledge as to why there would be a balance on an account for six months but they have not heard from the office. Also, I am a different person than my husband. You do not know people's situations. Therefore, having a conversation with me about someone else's treatment is not good practice and possibly a violation. Lastly, I am disappointed in the lack of phone call from the office manager and therefore am lead to believe this behavior is acceptable. How disheartening. read more

Finally, a friendly dentist office! The front office ladies are awesome. They are courteous, friendly, easy to talk with, and very efficient. Dr Yi does amazing in teeth. Him alone is a stand up practice. I only wish his receptionist where just as good. I've been to this dentist office less than 3 times. I have two other family members that recommended this place to me yet i don't seem to ever get the same service they do. Every time I've been to this location I've paid upfront, all costs and nothing needed to be billed. Since I've received 5-6 statements from them just forwarding me a balance and asking me to pay money with ZERO explanation as to why this CONTINUES to happen. Because I've had experience in medical billing it's really frustrating to feel as if I'm blatantly being taken advantage of. When showing these bills to my family members and the other patients - the response is - this has never happened to me and I'm not sure why they don't bill you correctly... why doesn't family dentistry bill correctly !? read more

I've been to many dentists and an orthodontist over the years, so I've certainly seen enough to form an honest opinion. As a kid, my dad took me to an ex-Army dentist, he was good at his job, charged a good rate but was by far the least gentle of any that I've ever known. My girlfriend recently found out her wisdom tooth was cracked and infected. We took her to the closest place and they recommended an oral surgeon, uhh I think you can buy a forclosed house for the price they charge to pull teeth! Not to mention the soonest they could do it would be 2 weeks. Mom mom went to see Dr Yi at the Family Dentistry a few years ago to fix a broken crown and she was very happy, so I called them up. They got us in the next day and she was in and out as well as all 4 wisdoms in 1 hour. I think she's the first one I've ever seen excited after getting out of a dentists chair with 4 less teeth, the cost was also extremely reasonable and very far short of what we were quoted for other dentists and the oral surgeon. read more

Unorganized, rude and don't have a clue what they are doing. They took X-rays out of a refund I'm supposed to get. Overcharged me for fillings for a child.. Then took money from my refund. Then couldn't work on my daughter and now I have to go to a specialist and pay more. I paid them upfront and man that was a mistake. Idk her name but the insurance lady is rude and can't do her job. Thought it was nice because it's right by my house. But hell no I'd rather drive a little farther and go some place where they know what they're doing. read more

I've been going to Family Dentistry (Dr. Yi is THE BEST) for years and they've always done everything possible to get me in as soon as possible (including my many last-minute calls to them). And, while many dentists will start with the highest-costing procedure and work their way down to the cheapest - regardless of the best actual treatment option - I've noticed that the folks at Family Dentistry set forth all of the options for you and don't pressure you into getting the most expensive one, but rather recommend the best one for your issue (and I've and many dental issues). I live in Tempe but I choose to drive all the way to Buckeye just because of Dr Yi's expertise, the quality of the staff, and the overall experience. Unlike most other dentists I've been to. This place is a real gem. I highly recommend Family Dentistry. read more
