Only tried this place once while I was in the area. It's a decent little diner in a strip mall. Nice wait staff, fairly accommodating and attentive. The price also seemed fair for the quality of the food they presented... It just didn't taste good. I had one of the specialties, the Cilantro Cream Enchiladas. I recommend you avoid it like the plague if you decide to go here. Maybe I'll go back sometime and try something else. For a first time trip though.... two stars almost feels high. read more

I went in for an early morning breakfast. At just before 7am I was the only one in the joint. More people came in as the meal went by. I got the Albuquerque omelette and was incredibly thankful I chose that option. The omelette itself was filling and had a range of flavors but despite the generous amount of jalapeños it was not too spicy. I took time to speak to the kitchen manager of the morning and she was a delight. This place came highly recommended from a coworker and I agree wholeheartedly. Neither of us were impressed with what we ordered because- Based on the average prices ($7 for a cocktail, $10 for an appetizer, $15 for an entree) we expected something slightly better than the average franchise restaurant food. The strawberry margarita my friend ordered was small & bland. The sauce on his wet burrito tasted like it came out of the can that you buy at the grocery store. My fries were burnt & cold, and the chorizo on my sandwich over cooked & dried out. The menu had a lot of fun & interesting dishes listed but the chef did not deliver. I went into Grand Rapids with my mom and she recommended eating here because of its proximity to her office. One great thing about this establishment is its location; since Sundance Grill and Bar is downtown many hotels, offices, etc. are within walking distance. We were seated right away but didn't see our waitress for a while. Unfortunately, that seemed to become a common theme for our brunch. After ordering our drinks, she took our food order and we only saw her twice after that. She dropped off the chips and salsa that we ordered, more on that later, and then the manager dropped off my mother's breakfast burrito and brought me another lemonade. She did come to see how we enjoyed everything, but by then we had finished our food and the only thing we wanted was the bill so that we could leave. As a picky and unadventurous eater, this was not the best option for me. Mexican breakfast foods just did not appeal to me, and I ended up going for chips and salsa. The salsa was fine, it tasted like it was purchased from a store, and was bland. My mother said her breakfast burrito was okay, but she has no inkling to go back. I truly believe that the experience could have been a little different if we had had a waitress that was more engaged. I sat for a while trying to flag our waitress down so that I could order something else, but I would never see her until she was at our table. While there is a possibility that they were understaffed and she also has to go out to the patio, I don't believe that was the case. Terrible service. They had 3 different games on when we came in but when we asked for the CBS game they said they can only play one game at a time (aka the game the bartender wanted) on all 12 TVs. They lied straight to our face saying the other table wanted that game but we knew those people. And the chips were stale. read more

Sunday morning for bloody marys and some breakfast. Pretty neat place. The BLT bloody is a must. A mini beer, toast and butter to go with the drink that sports the rest of the BLT. For the "not spicy" version, it was still pretty spicy, but that's OK. We liked them. Had the burrito for breakfast, and after the BLT, it was a bit much, but the flavors were good and certainly filling. Was suggested to come here by a very good friend who lives in the area. Our server was Quinn. He was extremely helpful at guiding us in the right direction for our meal and drink choices. My mom ordered the Sundance omelet and had the waiter surprise her with a mimosa of his choice. She was happy with both. I ordered the Eggs Benedict, bloody mary, and a mimosa. We went here for Sunday brunch with a group of 10. We were able to call ahead, and within twenty minutes, we received a text that our table was ready. Our drink order was placed fairly quickly, but then we sat for thirty minutes without our waitress coming back to take our food order or check on us. When we saw her at another table, we tried to grab her attention, and she said "yep, I'll be there in a minute". I've waitressed for years, so I understand being busy and how demanding big tables can be, but we hadn't asked for anything beyond our drinks, and now we just wanted to order our food (going on 45 minutes at the restaurant at this point). We placed our order, and the food came out relatively quickly, and everything was correct! The food itself was delicious, as were the drinks! The OJ is fresh squeezed, I believe, and it really makes a difference. When the check came, I was surprised it wasn't more! $35 for a Diet Coke, mimosa, and two breakfasts. So we got chips and guac, the guac was not good, needed salt and lime (that's how you make guac, ya know?) and the chips were stale and yesterday's. The food was meh. But the worst part was the service, maybe they were understaffed this morning but it was really poor. We were seated for a while before anyone took our order. Our water glasses were never full. I went to Sundance unwillingly for brunch with some friends on a Sunday. The reviews (specifically about their chips and salsa.. might wanna fix that) had me very skeptical and really did not want to go. Also, who opens up a "southwest" themed restaurant. That's right. It's not Mexican food.. It's southwest. There's pictures of Utah on the menu. Anyway the food came out and was very well plated and tasted very good! I tried to give them a second chance since they're attached to the hotel I'm currently staying in (Homewood suites), but second try proved it worth it to go ANYWHERE else. First day the waitress was inattentive, food took a long time, she had no idea the ingredients to a simple side salad... oh, and giving children cookies handed to them with their menu BEFORE they eat anything?! What parent would EVER appreciate that?! So that was day 1. Day 2: same menu situation. Terrible different waitress who again was inattentive, and this time with an attitude. At the time we went there were 2 tables in the entire place (and it wasn't right before closing). The food looked completely different then the day before (for kids). She forgot our appetizer. When I was still hungry I asked fthe appetizer to go, and they came out after a long time burnt. When we went back, gave them the burnt wings back and got a refund, we told the manager how terrible our experience was both days. She questioned us for specific examples and had an attitude! I was shocked so I had very little to say. If she ever reads this, it falls on her too. She is responsible for how the restaurant runs, and a well run restaurant the manager "touches tables" checking in with guests and their experience. Never did I see a a manager either day. So, all in all, this gets a one star on ALL accounts. I highly recommend you steer clear and don't even attempt this restaurant. read more

They literally served me water and told me it was tequila. We ordered margaritas that didn't even have the smell or taste of tequila in the slightest. We told the server and she didn't even care and told us that we were crazy even though she didn't even tell her manager, check with the bar tenders, or even smell it when we offered. The waitstaff was very friendly and helpful with menu selection and offered alternative options. This place has a wide menu with something for everyone and good drink selection. Worst place to have lunch if you work downtown. Service is slow, food is slow to arrive. Most people only have one hour for lunch. Numerous times gave them a chance. Sat for about 10 minutes before server came to take order, then another 30 minutes waiting for the order, which only leaves roughly 10 minutes to eat, when you have to walk back to your office. Food sub par also. I have worked in restaurants most of my life, so I know how restaurants are run. Every time when this happens they are not over busy, and the servers are just hanging around, and lord knows what the cooks are doing that it takes 30 minutes to prepare a scrambled egg. Sorry, but really wish they would get a clue. read more
