This was our first visit to Sung Wo, as we're never impressed by the local selection of Chinese food.. all the same low quality meat, questionable chicken thata so dry and chewy, but we never realized Sung Wo was close by and highly recommended. I have to say, overall, we were satisfied and happy we gave it a go. The staff was attentive and patient when we called in, repeated the order and gave us a price and time frame for pick up. 20 minutes on the dot I arrived to a fairly busy, but clean and neat small storefront. Sauces on a table for convenience, and a couple of cases of drinks as well. The kitchen appeared busy and transparent; you could see them cooking and packing everything fresh right in front, behind the counter (a reassuring thing!). Staff seemed friendly and honorable, reminding me to grab a free 2 L soda for my purchase. Waited 5 minutes and walked out with a piping hot and heavy bag, very well packed (bonus points for neat and no spillage). Also, definitely loved that we could order white meat, no MSG, and I guarantee you that no other Chinese food place comes close to being real like Sung Wo. We 100% could taste and tell the difference! Absolutely refreshing to eat actual white meat chicken and have it look and taste great. You can totally taste the quality and difference between the other spots. The chicken was crispy, delicious, and didnt leave us feeling gross and regretful like other local spots. I highly recommend Sung Wo, and gladly accept them as our new Chinese food spot! What we got: Orange chicken with white rice Orange chicken spicy with brown rice Eggplant in garlic sauce Chicken in lobster sauce Crab Ragoons Everything was great, orange chicken was crispy, clean sauce that wasn't caked on but enough to reheat. Plenty of bright broccoli, and the chicken wasn't dry, chewy or overcooked- a huge plus! Seriously, I hate ordering and expecting good food and getting stringy, questionable meat that is random long cuts of whatever. These were nice, consistent chunks of crispy outside, obvious white meat chicken! Crab ragoons were delicious and full of flavor, chicken lobster sauce was great with plenty of substance. The only thing that wasn't impressive was the eggplant in garlic sauce. Surprisingly, it came fried and too thick compared to the soft, grilled eggplant we would usually get. Definitely would try with asking for grilled. Another thingl, they are very accommodating, will cook to your liking, and really seem to have made a great name for themselves. I honestly can say that we were super happy and relieved to have found a great Chinese place less than 5 minutes away. We definitely will order again! Consistent great quality Chinese take out food. I believe it's the best in central north shore Suffolk area (Port Jeff-Riverhead). Chicken is always hot/crispy and perfectly sauced. Egg Rolls taste fresh and full of flavor. Wontons are made in house and full of meat especially their soup that they add extra pork and scallions. BBQ spare ribs are juicy, smoky and fall off the bone. Fried rice has good amount of pork and onions. Ordered to go - door dash delivery. Massive servings and really good food. Paid about $40 for a box of pork low mien (amazing), egg rolls (golden crunchy and delicious), steamed pork dumplings (incredible), and the sesame chicken w/rice and broccoli (very good). It came with many sauces for dipping (soy sauce, spicy mustard, duck sauce, as well as a sweet & spicy soy sauce) as well as wish cookies. For $40 we got at least 6-8 plates of food. Consistency is one of the main indicators of a quality food establishment. They are generally very consistent in delivering good quality food and service on a fairly regular basis. When they do not provide consistency it's time to go elsewhere. Such is the case with this chinese take out. I had previously rated them excellent on my first try a few weeks back for a lunch take out, but last week and again tonight the food quality has declined drastically, to the point where we could NOT eat it. Both mine and my husbands favorite Chinese food place in the area. Pick up only, but they are usually pretty quick to get your order together! Always very nice and easy to order via phone. Their "staples" are great. Usually a good amount of meat in the chicken and broccoli, shrimp and veggie (etc) dishes. I'm Really warming to Sung Wo. Two trips so far. First meal was the General Tso's Chicken. Good chicken quality, good broccoli, good sauce with a good spicy bite. Second trip, Sweet and Sour pork, and get this. The sweet and sour sauce had the veggies it it. I haven't had this in years and I miss it. It wasn't a lot of veggies but most places don't even offer this anymore. I did find the egg roll that came with the combo a little disappointing. But who goes for the egg rolls?? So two meals and two winners. My next trip will have to boneless spare ribs. The amount of variance in the quality of this dish is super wide, so it'll be interesting to see what Sung Wo does. Yeesh! This was probably the worst Chinese food I've ever had! I got the chicken with Chinese vegetable combo. The "pork fried rice" had zero pork and the rice tasted like it's been sitting in a cabinet for over a year. The chicken was chewy and veggies were bland. We ordered the fried meat dumplings and the dough was ridiculously thick. It was like it was wrapped in a pancake. We also ordered wonton soup and again that was really bland and watery. The broth had no depth to it at all. The wontons weren't awful. Oh, and they forgot our egg rolls. Will not be ordering from this place again. read more

The food here is ok, not great but certainly not bad by any means. For my liking Americanized Chinese food needs to be garlicky, pungent and salty and this is something I have yet to find on Long Island. Maybe I was spoiled growing up in Bayside and living so close to Chinatown, but that's how I remember Chinese food being. I've found some good places and even some hits and misses, but nothing like what my childhood dreams are made of. I really like the filling of the dumplings here and the dipping sauce is great because they add garlic oil to it, but the dumpling dough is very thick, especially if you have leftovers to reheat :( I've tried a wide variety of dishes here and find they're usually lacking flavor. I do have to say that I had an "issue" the last time I ordered pick up and I called about it when I got home. I'm not a complainer and rarely -- if ever -- complain about anything. They were very fair and took care of it no questions asked the very next day. They gave me a refund instead of the typical credit the next time I order, which I absolutely cannot stand. If I pick something I simply do not like at a restaurant that's my fault; if something truly is bad that's theirs. For making things right I commend them. I also do have to say that the food isn't bad, it's just not fantastic and I find I need to "juzz" (spelling?) it up for my taste buds. read more

THE best Chinese food in Rocky Point. Sung Wo has been here forever (over 30 years). Located in the Kolh's shopping center (near Michael's). Not really an eat-in place, you'll want to take out. I believe they deliver & take credit cards (min. required). I'm a vegetarian- so I haven't tried everything, but their veggie eggrolls are perfection. Everyone I know eats there. The previous owners before the new current owners made great dumplings but these guys make it just as good! I've been coming to this place for many years wether it was with my friends or family. I highly suggest getting the dumplings if you're into that. The chicken & broccoli is good as well along with the shrimp toast. There's so many good different options on the menu here. Very good food for long island. We will drive 20 minutes to get take out vs eating at our local Chinese places. Chicken with garlic sauce was well prepared and lo mein was decent .
