Robert and his coworker lied to me. They said with the extra $50 my ray ban metas would be covered for a year. I asked, is there a deductible? Robert told me no. No deductible. I bought them May 31 2025 (at this La Jolla location off Girard Ave.) and on March 27 2026 the meta ray bans stopped working. Did everything I could, hard reset, the app reset but they would not turn on. I go to my local sunglass hut and they advise me of the $120 deductible. They also advised me that I can only go to the ray ban 1's and that they don't have them. That they're most likely non existent. I specifically asked Robert what would happen if my glasses weren't around anymore and he said they'd give me the latest version. My local SH says if I want to go to the new version I'd have pay the difference and the deductible. I paid $250 to switch to the Oakleys to see if they're any better. That's the $120+125+taxes. In less than 1 year that comes out to paying about $340 for each pair... my local SH provided me with a pamphlet that showed the deductibles, Robert did not. I placed everything in my SH bag the day I bought them and placed everything in our spare room. Receipt and all. I was never given a pamphlet. The pamphlet would have showed the deductible which would have ruined Robert's warranty extension/SH insurance sale. I went back to the date on my phones photo album and can see where the sale has been made, no pamphlet. My local one was knowledgeable and informative. Robert was not. Robert was less than truthful on the deductible and about the question if my version 1's weren't around anymore. UPDATE: 05/05/2026 I responded to the comment of Luxottica, asking me to reach out to them for a resolution. I wonder if that comment will go away after this update. A person named Julian reached out to me stating they want to fix this for me. He stated he was going to reach out to his boss about crediting the deductible back to me. He said he's going to ask his boss but he's got a busy schedule to he'll see when he gets back to me. Within 2 minutes, he calls me back and says he's just going "make the executive decision" and credit money back to me but that he can't credit the deductible because it's separate from their refund abilities so he's going to return the (new) Oakley glasses difference that I paid which was $5 more or less. I said, perfect (hopes are up, they're making this right). However, I asked, would this affect my Oakleys manufactures warranty if I don't have proof of purchase/ a serial number thats been actually sold? Julian said it was a good question so he's going to find out and call me back. Late in the afternoon he calls me to tell me that corporate said they actually can't return the glasses and they can't return the deductible. They had no solution for me. I asked why Luxottica bothered to comment here and request for me to go to their website, fill out their form with a bunch of questions, enter dates, receipt numbers and what not. I further asked if this is the first time Sunglass hut has ever dealt with this. Why would they put me through all of this if I left my story in the review, wrote it out again on their form they asked me to fill out and reexplained it to Julian. Julian said they just told him to figure out a solution for me. In the form it asks how I think this should be resolved. I wrote, refund the $120 that I was not informed about. They must have read that. He said he'd try again with a different angle. He calls me back and again tells me there isn't anything they can do. I asked, why put me through another form Luxottica? Why read my comment, request more information when it's all there, I rewrite it all, you tell Julian to call me to figure out a solution, and there's no solution? Is anyone reading these comments? Is it an auto message to the 1 star reviews? Is it, add this comment to make yourselves look better? I was promised it'd get fixed. It did not. No refund. I have the voicemail of the solution to return me the difference. But then taken back and no refund. read more

On Jan. 16, 2022, I walked in to the Sunglass Hut in La Jolla. While browsing at the Ray-Ban Display, I was approached and greeted by Daytona. (Sales Associate) I informed her what I was looking for and interested in getting. I had a number of questions to which she answered to my satisfaction. Not the greatest selection of sunglasses despite being bigger than other Sunglass Huts I've frequented, but still probably the best choice for sunglass shoppping while visiting La Jolla. The staff was really helpful, but ultimately unable to sell me on anything due to their lack of athletic polarized glasses. With the polarized craze, be careful with your selection. Also make sure they don't lump the youth shades in with the adult section like they did when I was there. read more

I bought a pair of glasses at the Sunglass Hut in Coronado 2 months ago and my lease cracked. I called them to see my options to get them fixed and they told me I would only have to pay half the price I paid. Since I initially bought my glasses with another pair at a discounted rate it was cheaper and they still told me I would only have to pay half. They weren't able to find my receipt in the system bc they had put my payment on a random persons name. From the beginning I had issues with them. I went to the La Jolla store and Rafael was very helpful. He had talked to the manager at the other store and I explained what happened. He was very helpful and understanding. She helped me immediately and showed my how scratched up my lenses were and told me how to get them serviced by Maui Jim! Plus she had me try on the gold ones (I have silver) now I need gold too. I went to this sunglass hut location looking to exchange a pair of ray bans I had bought in June. I knew it would be tricky because I didn't have the receipt on hand but had a picture of it, and the sales associate named Ryan just went above and beyond my expectations. Not only was he glad to help me with my exchange, he was nice, personable, and helped me pick out the perfect pair of ray bans. Terrible customer service. Purchased high end sunglasses with polarized glass lenses. After occasional mild use for only six days, discovered a hairline crack in lens from frame screw on one side to frame screw on other side. Returned to Sunglass Hut La Jolla to seek repair, exchange, or refund. Sunglass Hut La Jolla rep simply phoned cashier who rang up the sale, cashier said lens wasn't damaged when sold. (Cashier contacted wasn't even the rep who sold the glasses.) Sunglass Hut rep refused to resolve issue in any way, including refusing to honor warranty or company's customer service procedure. Do not patronize this store- no customer support, did not stand by the product they sold, would not provide ANY customer assistance. read more

Out of 50 reviews, Ive only once given 1 star. If only I could give this place negative stars. This was THE worst experience I have ever had in any business. I had purchased a pair of sunglasses that ended up having a major flaw. It was already past the return/exchange period but they offered to fix it. Well not only did they not fix it, they damaged it even more! I demanded some form of compensation but the manager nor the employee who damaged it took accountability. Their explanation was that I was allowing them to help me at my own risk. Somehow they managed to make their mistake as my fault because I trusted them. The way the manager spoke was so rude and condescending; there was no getting through to her. I left with my damaged glasses and damaged pride. I was treated very unfairly and I hope no one else experiences what I did. read more

I recently broke my Maui Jim sunglasses and stopped in to the LJ store yesterday to see if they could be repaired. The very nice young saleslady in the store told me they could not be repaired but immediately asked when they were purchased and I told her approx 3 or 4 months ago. I had no receipt but she looked me up in their computer and confirmed that I had bought them at her store and then gave me a brand new pair. It doesn't get much better than that. First of all, we go into this place at 9:55AM because the door is open. OK. The person inside, who is clearly on a personal call says "sorry sir, we are not open yet." Mind you the store hours say they are open at 10AM. Heck, if you aren't open, why is the door open??? "OK, we'll come back" - sheesh, can you spare 5 minutes to browse? Anyhow, we are back at 10AM on the nose...again the guy says "sorry we are not open yet" (he's still on the phone). "Ugh, it's 10AM on my watch, do you mind if we at least browse?" A reluctant "OK" he says. OK, rude service to start, but I really needed to replace my glasses....whatever. Get my pair, my wife gets her pair and we leave. Thank god we are not from this town! Anyhow, I we get home and I find my credit card has been charged 3 TIMES for $300!!!!!! WHAT????? The same charge 3 TIMES BACK TO BACK!!! What the heck was this dude doing??? Regardless, I call my bank, get the charges disputed...just glad my bank is there to handle it since I didn't want to deal with that store again. Mind you, we have shopped at other sunglass hut stores and been treated just fine. It's this store in particular and the gentleman that opened the store that leaves a sour taste behind. Bottom line: Rude service, they could care less about you as a customer in the La Jolla store, and watch your bank statements, they clearly don't know what they are doing there. read more

I'm used to nordstrom customer service, because that's how it should be. When I walked in I was not greeted by the antisocial associate working - her name was Aveed - and I went along with trying on different pairs of glasses. When I was ready to check out, I took my glasses up to her and asked if they could be replaced with another pair, because the pair on display looked crooked. She denied that and I was sent home with the display which was $172 dollars. I later got home only to realize that I was in fact right, and the glasses were crooked, so now I have to go back to a different location to get a replacement. I'm not mad about the glasses, I'm mad about the customer service by Aveed or lack thereof. Employees need more training on how to interact with customers. One of my worst shopping experiences. read more
