WATCH OUT YELPERS -- THIS ONE'S A DOOZY Mistakenly bought a pair of low-bridge Prada sunglasses online and came into this location to try on the regular-fit pair for comparison. I was helped by the manager, Sol, who was initially friendly and helpful. I decided I preferred the regular pair and mentioned that I planned to make the exchange online so I could take advantage of a Rakuten cash-back offer. Sol specifically convinced me to exchange them in-store instead, telling me I could avoid the hassle of shipping and leave with the correct pair that day. I stood at the counter for quite a while while she processed what she repeatedly referred to as an "exchange." I trusted that she was simply exchanging one pair for another, as she had presented it to me. I left with the new pair and thought everything was fine. I never wore the sunglasses because my plan was to have prescription lenses put into them. After learning that an outside optometrist could not offer protection against potential damage during the lens replacement process, I decided I would rather purchase the sunglasses through LensCrafters together with my prescription lenses, where I would have that protection. So I returned to this Sunglass Hut to return my completely unworn Prada sunglasses. Sol was working again and clearly appeared to remember me. The moment I handed her the sunglasses to inspect, she immediately told me she could not accept the return because they were "damaged." She repeatedly pointed to what she described as a chip in the lens that neither my husband nor I could see. I was baffled. These sunglasses had never been worn. Her reaction also immediately made me uncomfortable because she seemed unusually quick and adamant about denying the return over damage that was essentially invisible to us. At that point, something felt off, so we went to another Sunglass Hut location. The employee there inspected the exact same sunglasses and had no issue with their condition. However, while attempting to process my return, he asked which form of payment I had originally used. I told him I had purchased the sunglasses online with my credit card. That is when I discovered what Sol had actually done during my supposed "exchange." Instead of simply exchanging my online purchase, she had returned my original sunglasses, used the value to purchase a Sunglass Hut gift card, and then used that gift card to purchase the replacement pair -- all while describing the transaction to me as an "exchange." I was NEVER told that my original credit-card purchase was being converted into gift-card funds. I was never asked whether I agreed to that. I was never warned that doing so would affect my ability to receive a refund back to my credit card later. Had that been explained to me, I absolutely would not have agreed to it. Because of the way Sol processed the transaction, my new sunglasses now appeared in the system as having been purchased with a gift card rather than my credit card. The second employee could not complete the return because what I was telling him about my original payment method did not match what his system showed, and there was no manager available to resolve it. We then went BACK to the UTC Sunglass Hut to address the situation. Another manager was working -- the same manager who had been present earlier when Sol refused my return. She told me that because another manager had already denied the return, she could not override that decision, even if she personally would have accepted the sunglasses. She also confirmed the bigger issue: even if the return was accepted, the refund could not go back to my credit card because the sunglasses had technically been purchased with the gift card Sol created during the original "exchange." So to summarize: Sol convinced me not to handle the exchange online, processed my transaction in a completely different way than I understood it to be processed, converted my credit-card purchase into store credit without clearly disclosing the consequences, and then later refused to accept my UNWORN sunglasses back because of an alleged defect that another Sunglass Hut employee had no issue with. Her actions during that first transaction are the entire reason this became such a mess. What should have been a straightforward exchange turned into multiple trips to different stores, multiple conversations with employees and managers, and a situation where I could no longer simply receive my money back to my original form of payment. The most frustrating part is that none of this would have happened had Sol either processed a normal exchange or simply been transparent about what she was doing at the register. I would strongly recommend that anyone shopping at this location carefully review their receipt, ask exactly how any return or exchange is being processed, and do not assume that what is being described to you as an "exchange" is actually being processed that way. read more

2/12/26 11:30am My husband and I were shopping for sun glasses. When we entered the shop there were two employees. A woman on the phone and a male busy at the counter. We looked at glasses and after a good wait the male came over to wait on us. We had just started talking when his phone rang (behind the counter) and he went to answer it. Instead of asking the person on the phone to wait he started a conversation. We waited to see if he would put them on hold and continue assisting us but he completely ignored us!! Horrible service. At this time, they are running a great deal when you guys multiple pairs of glasses, so I went for the Ray-Ban Meta Smart Glasses and a pair of Versace glasses. During my visit, I received exceptional service from Jocelyn. She was knowledgeable about the products available on display as well as options that were not displayed, and her sales technique was sharp! Attentive but not overly aggressive, and what really impressed me was she cleared my objections AND asked for the sale. Seems simple but not many sales associates do this. One of the worst - if not the absolute worst - experiences I've ever had with customer service. I'm very wary of posting really poor reviews but I do adamantly believe this location deserves nothing but a 1-star - just take a brief scan through the reviews on here and you'll get a general gist of it. The male manager is truly condescending and rude beyond belief, which honestly just baffles me because I recently learned that the Sunglass Hut associates work on a commission. I've actually purchased a pair of Raybans at this location with that very manager himself a couple months ago and it honestly pains me a little to know that he benefited from it in whatever small degree that he did. Anyway, I returned to this location against my better judgement because I wanted a new pair of glasses and again dealt with the same jerk. They recently hired a new associate that is a world of a difference in terms of customer service (thank God) but even he couldn't fully atone for his superior's hellish behavior. After I found my selection, the associate noticed a ding on the frame and thankfully recommended that I order a fresh pair from the warehouse since they only sell merch off display (and thus don't carry extra stock in the back). Before this associate made the recommendation to me however, I overheard him inform his manager, to which the manager responded with something along the lines of "Should be fine [to sell]." Judging from other Yelpers' experiences, this is apparently intentional and common practice at the store. Sickening. Also, this is relatively minor but nonetheless speaks to the manager's character: I ended up deciding to purchase the glasses online myself and he tried to tell me that if I did so, as opposed ordering through the store to deliver to my home, I'd have to pay for my own shipping. Sunglass Hut's online policy has always been free two-day shipping on all orders, so nice work for straight-up lying to my face. I'm assuming he wanted to credit the purchase to his branch. Gross pt. 2. Seriously people, save yourself the headache and hassle and just take your business to a place that actually treats their customers with respect (and a little decency SMH). Incompetence at another level. If I could put 0 Stars I would. Went in to purchase frames for my wife and a pair of sunglasses for myself. After browsing for around 15 minutes we had both found a pair we wanted. I noticed a large scratch in the lens of the glasses my wife was interested in and two small blemishes on the sunglasses I liked. I asked if we could have a fresh pair from the back of both of the glasses. The manager told me that we do not have stock in either of the glasses I was interested in. If I wanted the glasses today, I would have to purchase those with the scratch, or order from the warehouse with next day delivery. I explained that I have been there before and the sales person has always happily given me a fresh pair from stock as the cost is upwards of $200. He explained that they do not have any stock in the two models I was looking at and showed me inside one Ray Ban Box from behind the desk that did not have similar style of glasses to the one I was interested in. I asked if I could have a small discount if I purchased the damaged pair. 'Not possible' was the response. No discounts are ever awarded and the system will not let them make a discount on any item ever. In addition they can no longer sell the damaged item. I would have to order from them and get the glasses delivered next business day. I then asked if they could check the availability for next day delivery for both pairs of sunglasses, I wanted to purchase them if they were available with next day delivery. At this time both sales associates started to help other customers without finalizing helping me order the pairs from warehouse. After about 10 minutes of waiting at the front check out counter with both pairs of glasses to purchase sitting there. I found the glasses I wanted online for 60% of the price. I then bought my wife her pair directly from lens crafters 2 stores down. The best part? I walked back into the store to double check the model number of the glasses my wife had liked. The sales associate had placed all sunglasses back on the shelf, scratch in the lens of the Oakleys and the Ray Bans with the blemishes from people dropping them. Both were back on the shelf waiting for a future customer to purchase them without taking a solid look. If you read other reviews, scratched and damaged merchandise is commonly sold here. Never buying sunglasses here again. I bought a pair which I tried on one time at home, decided they weren't super flattering, and went to return them. I was told they had a scratch and weren't eligible for return. First of all, I couldn't see the scratch even when the rude and condescending employee tried to show me. I purchased a pair of Burberry sunglasses that are having problems with the polarized lens lamination. The frames are in excellent condition and the lenses are nearly scratch free. Even though I purchased the sunglasses over a year ago, I thought Sun Glass Hut would recognize it's a manufacturing defect and either help me communicate with the manufacturer or at least offer me a discount on another pair. Basically, they chose not to do either. Come on, I can't be the only one complaining about this problem. Customers do not spend $300 on glasses without some loyalty to a retailer. Sun Glass Hut probably makes over 70% margins on glasses. This was an opportunity to sell me on your excellent customer service. Too bad this customer walked away disappointed. I love purchasing sunglasses from the sunglass hut, because they are always very friendly and have good customer service. Usually I can bring in my sunglasses if they get warped or stretched and they heat them up and tighten them for me. However, this location had terrible service. The lady working there was not helpful at all and said that even if she heated them up it would just make it wider. On a recent trip to La Jolla for an MD Board review meeting, I went with a friend of mine to run some errands and found myself pulled toward Sunglass hut to replace my lost pair of glasses. I am notorious for losing sunglasses which is why I tend to buy the cheap ones. But after my last purchase of Ray Bans were lost, it's been hard to deal with my misfitting target replacements. And, my companion was of no use. He too spends money on nice sunglasses and even encouraged me to get the polarized lenses. I admit, they were not the Tiffany brand (black with Tiffany blue inside and daisy rhinestone adorned cornered), but I caved and bought another pair of Ray Bans. The sales person was nice, helpful, and they did have a good selection. So, no buyers remorse. They fit PERFECTLY, look good, and were worth the price. read more

When I finally was, I said I would like to exchange my glasses for a different pair. After letting me look around for 30 minutes, I was then told there was a scratch in the lens (in glasses I never wore). Waste of my time. I recently bought a pair of sunglasses and returned to the store two days later (4/1/17 @ ~4:30pm) to exchange it, seeing that the pair I bought was crooked. I initially talked to the woman behind the counter, who at least was willing to talk to me and figure out what I needed; however, her coworker (a gentleman) was extremely rude. He simply walked over, took my sunglasses, and proceeded to adjust them without asking me if it was okay. When I expressed that I was still unhappy with the pair that I bought, given that they were brand new, he said very condescendingly to the woman (they were both standing directly in front of me), "Oh, she just wants an exchange; just do it."He never said hello to me, never spoke to me directly, and he had this air of superiority that was just awful. Unfortunately, I didn't get his name - Sunglass Hut, you should make your employees wear name tags! Also, they tried to exchange my pair with a pair that was on the store floor (that people are allowed to try on) without telling me. I ended up keeping the pair that I had initially purchased. TL;DR The workers here are rude. Terrible customer service. Go elsewhere! EDIT: When I went to another Sunglass Hut store, the employee told me that this location also gave me the wrong Ray-Ban sunglasses case for the pair that I purchased and that the case that I had received had the ability to damage my sunglasses due to the ill-fit (she proceeded to give me the correct case, which was smaller and fit my RB Clubmaster perfectly). read more

As we were browsing around and trying on various sun glasses as any other person would do, my girlfriend over heard an employee tell a co worker to keep an eye on us and make sure we don't take anything. He was so quick to judge us and discriminate. Not one did they ask us if we needed any help. Get personal and get to know your customer before you jump into conclusions and judge them. There was no greeting when I walked in the door and after I asked the gentleman to please tighten the arm of my RayBans he snatched them out of my hand without any acknowledgement. He proceeded to fix my sunglasses then pushed them back at me with a grunt. I said thank you and walked out of the store. I then walked back into the store and let him know how disappointed I was with his attitude and his service. He and his coworker smirked and laughed at my honesty. Very poor customer service. I bought my Coach sunglasses in April 2014 with 12-month warranty. Exactly after 13 months the sunglasses broke down because of the manufacturer defect. I was taking good care of them and stored them only in the case. I came to the store to return them, but they said that they can only give me 50% discount towards another purchase since 12-month period has already passed. I didn't know that the expected life of Coach $200 sunglasses are supposed to last for 12 months only. Ok... I agreed for that. They have this new super fancy system when if you lost the receipt, they will find you in the system. Guess what? It didn't work. They ask me to bring the receipt. Next time I came back with the receipt. I waited for 20 minutes while they were helping other customer, and then 20 more minutes while the associate was trying to process the refund. Then she gave up and called the manager who said that you a manager can do this refund. What are the sales associates for then? And the manager will be in the store only tomorrow and they asked me to come back tomorrow and waste another afternoon at their store. I spent a lot of time looking for a new pair of prescription sunglasses, with no luck. I was just passing the Sunglass Hut and thought I'd ask if they make prescriptions. Kristen said they didn't, but they have an agreement with Lenscrafters for a discount. I explained to her what I was looking for, she looked at my face for a second, and then pulled out the perfect pair of glasses! They were a little out of my price range, but she had something very similar that wasn't. I really couldn't believe it. She is amazing. I have a small head and I couldn't find anything small enough to fit under my hat. I took the glasses to Lenscrafters, but they said they were too curved to make into prescription. I was pretty bummed to say the least. I went back to Kristen and she sent me to another shop in the mall (West Coast Eye Care) that had no problem making them.
