The worst pitaya bowl that I've ever had. First of all, it was topped with FROZEN blueberries and FROZEN mangos. Um what?!? I've never gotten frozen fruit as toppings ever before. Fruit toppings should always be fresh! Secondly, the hemp milk they used overwhelmed all the other ingredients in the bowl (pitaya, mango, raspberry). Also, please note that the açaí in all of their açaí bowls are presweetened. They use some sort of premade açaí sorbet. I expected better from this place. Omg!!! I'm super disappointed on this Asia bowl! I don't know if it's specific this location or they just all like that. And super chip on açaí! The put very little amount of açaí. And it's was not tasty I fell like I eat only sugar, no base. Was super lapping. And I take it for me and my kids. And you can see it's only half bowl. And they charge you me small money. what really bothered me was that no one greeted me when i came in, and the girl working the register was so unfriendly. i work in food service and i'm always kind to others, so it bothers me when i'm a guest somewhere and feel like i'm a bother. like, you're the one getting paid!? i really wanted to say something, but this review will suffice. but on top of that, the açaí bowl i got was FILLED with toppings, i couldn't even get a bite of just açaí. the consistency wasn't great either. i suppose the ingredients are actually organic ,but really didn't feel worth the $17 read more

Frequent customers of this location. 2 weeks ago we ordered our bowls, and immediately sat down to eat at the tables outside the shop. After a couple bites, my husband had a sharp sensation that felt like he had bit a hard nut, but it turned out to be a decent sized stone! Larger than a pistachio. He immediately went in to notify staff with the bowl and stone, that he thank God pulled out of his mouth. He was told, "yeah, it happens sometimes with the nut company we use" He came out, with the stone and his bowl and to my surprise that's all they said. Did not offer a refund or remake of bowl. I made him go back in and ask for both ...this is quite concerning to not be sure if you might bite into a stone! He emailed the company to follow up on what happened and to make sure they were aware. No response. A couple days later he emailed again. No response. A few days later I DM their Instagram. Still no response. 5 days later I DM'd again. While I was originally concerned because he was experiencing tooth sensitivity, At this point I was just frustrated they couldn't take the time to at least respond to his email from a week and a half earlier, even if they didn't have an answer at the time. A simple "checking in to it" would have helped. Finally, after 2 weeks from first email I get a DM response. Saying they had to speak to corporate before responding to me, that they had checked the bags of nuts and that everything was "perfect" (who knows what bags/timeframe/etc) and that they were happy to refund it at the time. Ok......that's great because I hope it doesn't happen to someone else. But, it is irrelevant to the fact that they (knowingly) serve a product that sometimes (admittedly) has rocks in it without warning.... Luckily, he did not swallow/choke/or something worse. He continues to have tooth sensitivity, and honestly we will be unable to eat here again as their is no confidence as to what may show up in the bowl. We brought the bowl/stone home and left it in our freezer. Will not return, super disappointed in how they responded especially as frequent local customers. Extremely overpriced for a crappy Acali bowl. But let me rewind. I came in no one was there ordered my bowl and said no granola. A bunch of kids came in who are friends with someone who works there. He made their bowls before mine. Okay hook up your friends but take care of paying customers first. It took forever and I pretty much wanted to cancel and walk out. Get the samurai bowl if you want a protein-packed option that isn't too sweet and you like chocolate Was craving something cold but filling after a long Malibu hike and the samurai bowl hit the spot! With a açaí based blended with cacao powder + chocolate protein powder, and topped with special toppings like raw coconut meat and raw cashew butter, this bowl stood out from my typical açaí bowls and more than satisfied my hunger for hours to come (honestly started getting full halfway through, so maybe split it with a friend if you're not too hungry). Was it worth $18+? Probably not, but it's Malibu so the prices were expected, and given the ingredients like raw coconut meat and chocolate/açaí base, it definitely stood out from açaí bowls I've tried from other places in the past. In terms of sweetness and portion, it was also perfect. - One thing I'd note is the bitter aftertaste from the cacao powder/ chocolate protein powder for those who may be sensitive to that. They have been here for years and are a staple in the Malibu community. Very fitting here when one aims to live healthy, the smoothies and bowls are not only insanely good for you, but also very tasty. This Malibu location is awesome! Better than the Thousand Oaks one. The acai bowl portions are much more generous here with more of the fruit toppings. I think the Hawaiian acai bowl is now my ultimate favorite acai bowl. The base is an acai sorbet without anything blended into it, so it is thick and super acai-y, which is wowywow. I don't know where they get their granola, but it's some of the best granola I've tasted in my life. The chai almond bottled drink was amazing, too. The staff here seem to know what they're doing, giving friendly and relatively fast service despite being super busy. Plenty of free parking in the shared outdoor mall lot + friendly, fast service + delicious big acai bowls = A+! read more

I was a quarter of the way through my smoothie and the paper started folding in on itself so I had to keep opening the straw back up between each sip and then had to start ripping it open. It finally got to the point where the middle of the straw caved in on itself and I had to take the top off and poor the smoothie in my mouth. We randomly came upon this storefront on a Saturday morning, when we were in the plaza for some breakfast. The store looked interesting, especially w/ the outburst of "organic" signs everywhere, so we went in for a look. The menu looked fascinating (albeit pricey!)...and we proceeded to order 2 smoothies to-go. While I was ordering at the counter, we spotted actress Pamela Anderson! She just placed her order before me and was talking to one of the cashiers. Crazy how we didn't expect to see a celebrity, but hey -- this is Malibu! (1) Fountain of Youth - my sister-in-law and I ordered this to share, and it was delicious. This smoothie was a blend of strawberry, apple juice, yogurt, berries, etc. (can't remember the rest of ingredients). This could definitely serve as a meal in itself, but we ordered this as a drink on the side. (2) Wolverine - my husband ordered this item, and it was a blend of dates, cacao shavings, banana, coconut, etc. He said it was delicious! Many people order this smoothie for their meal. I usually love going to this location and I would definitely go back; however, the last time I went I specifically told them I did not want strawberries within or on top of my açaí bowl because I am allergic to them. Due to me having a mask on and there being a plastic wall between me and the server, I'm guessing they didn't hear me completely. But I did say, "no strawberries I'm allergic" and they replied "no strawberries" and I said yes. About 3 minutes into eating my bowl, I felt funny and knew that I was having an allergic reaction. I went back inside and asked for a cup of water and told them that I was starting to get hives because they put strawberries in the bowl. I had to rush to urgent care and ended up spending $300 to be shot by an Epipen and be put on medication to stop the reaction. Usually this never happens and I have some grace on that employee but I would just triple check if you are allergic because I would hate for this to happen to anyone else. read more

Literally my favorite smoothies. So delicious and creamy. One thing that I found funny was they had a swarm of honey bees in the building and all of the workers were terrified. Came here because I went to the hike nearby. Best decision ever! I asked the person managing the cash register for recommendations. She referred me to the wolverine. I was doubting if it was going to be sweet because of the ingredients but I was totally wrong. It wasn't overly sweet nor was it dull. All the ingredients blended well and added flavor. Of course this place gets 5 stars!! I've been to the T.O. location and they are both fantastic. The owner recommended the Dragon Bowl (So did the worker), but because I was already kinda full, I just ended up getting a delicious smoothie. I got the Wolverine (because of the Yelpers) and my friend got the Fountain of Youth. At first, I wasn't a huge fan of the Wolverine, but it definitely grew on me and I loved it. The one downside is that it took them a while to make our smoothie...might need more workers since it's getting quite popular! So make sure you're not in a rush. Even if the line is long, it still gets 5 stars because it's so good! read more

I love Sunlife products, but quite honestly, this is my least favorite Sunlife location to go to. I'm leaving this review because I truly want to see this business succeed. But I think significant improvements need to be made.... The line is always incredibly long here at peak hours, which is understandable because the food is great quality. But the service is EXTREMELY slow. I get that this is Malibu and not a Starbucks in LA, but I don't think it's acceptable to have to wait 15 minutes for an order at times. You would think they would train the employees to work a little faster when their traffic rate is so high, however they seem to move at an almost glacial pace. I'm not sure if this is related to poor management or if the employees are just inherently lazy. Regardless, if someone's going to take a year and a day making a smoothie, I expect it to be nothing less than perfection. But instead, this is what I got... Huge, unblended dates in my Mystic.
