They're thick, flavorful, and made with pretty good-quality ingredients, so they definitely feel more elevated than your average smoothie shop. That being said, they are pricey as heck! Also, don't automatically assume you're ordering a low-calorie "diet" drink just because it's a smoothie. Some of these can be surprisingly high in calories, especially with all the nut butters, dates, protein powders, and add-ins. Delicious? Absolutely. Light and innocent? Not necessarily. The first time I came here, it was busy. They clearly forgot my order. I had to inquire about it when I started to notice people who came after me were getting their orders. Then, when the crowd dwindled, I was pretty much the only one still there so, yeah they def forgot it. I went in and ordered the pink cloud smoothie and did one powder add on. It was pretty fast service and it was nice to look around at some of the cool other things you can buy while waiting. Like many "health" focused stores, it's all hype and fancy ingredients that have little proven medical or nutritional value. Even with the ingredients that do have some scientifically backed nutritional value, they don't confirm amounts so it's really just a rip off. How anyone can justify these price points is beyond me, and I question what morons are spending $50 on a bowl of fruit, regardless of your income level. I came across this juice spot while in Manhattan Beach, ca. I ordered a Malibu Sunrise, which consisted of; orange, carrots and strawberries. I also, purchased three other juices and a cookie dough protein bar containing (6) grams of sugar, (4) grams of protein and only 25 grams of sodium. The juice was fresh and tasted amazing as did the protein bar. Here you'll find a variety of juices, bowls and other organic products. One thing on service though...one of the workers was flirting with my boyfriend. She wrote his name twice. Once on my bowl and another time on his shake but in cursive and with a smiley face on it. I was looking around at other people's orders and noticed that no one else had a smiley face on theirs. Maybe I'm reaching, but it doesn't make sense for some customers to have that and not others. I stopped by this SunLife Organics location after taking a yoga class nextdoor while on a recent visit to the Manhattan Beach area. I was in need of a snack after my workout and also wanted to visit since I'd been following SunLife on social media and was curious to check them out. First off, the store is clean and inviting and offers a large menu in addition to plenty of packaged snacks / meals. It was actually a bit overwhelming. It's also extremely pricey, but I guess that is what you get in LA. I ordered a Pink Cloud Smoothie (Banana, raspberry, dragonfruit, almond milk, pineapple juice) and added whey protein... It was perfect for what I was looking for in the moment. Service was fast, friendly and efficient. I will be back if in the area, but admittedly I'm almost glad there is not a store near me at home in AZ as I couldn't afford to go here often! read more

I willingly pay $12.95 for a simple protein shake from SunLife. $13.98 after tax. I hate to even admit that, because even adjusted for inflation that price just hurts. Had a really bad experience today ! The bowl and drink took over 25 min and as I was patient with the staff , I witnessed them rolling their eyes when other guests would ask them if their orders were ready. I get things get backed up but no one wants to see terrible customer service ( just smile ) My Brazilian bowl was like soup , so watery it fell right out of my spoon when I took a scoop and let's not get started with my peanut butter chocolate smoothie , it was more like chocolate milk ! The 3 stars is for employee safety standards. I come to Sunlife after my pilates class. I usually come at 6 and I believe the shop closes at 7 so I am usually catching them in the last hour. On 2 separate occasions, probably a month a part from each other I have witnessed employees not following protocols for handwashing. They only followed it because I said something. I waited on both occasions to see how far each employee would go before I said something, but I had to speak up or otherwise they would have continued. On the first occasion it was about 630pm, the employee was making an order, so the other young lady took my order at the register. She had on her latex gloves while she punched in the order, I notice that most of them do this, even though they use their knuckles of their fingers to place the keypad, they really should remove their gloves. After she takes my order I walk around to the pick up area by the door. Before she starts on my order, she comes from around the counter and goes to door and kneels to ground to remove a rock that was being used to hold the door open. She still has her latex gloves on. She removes the rock that is on the ground and goes back around the counter and grabs a blender and begins to start scooping. I wanted to see how far she would go, so I interjected and said, would you please change your gloves. So she did. The 2nd incident occurred on Monday, Aug 25. Again, I came in about 6ish. One employee is making an order, so a female has a red dish rag and is wiping down the metal counter and hose. She wrings towel out and comes to register. Once again, places my order with latex gloves on using their knuckles. She then proceeds to take the blender container and start scooping. I interject, I say ma'am would you mind changing your gloves. Both female employees changed gloves with no issues, but as part of protocols they should be trained to change gloves frequently. With bacteria, and allergens, it's not good practice. We pay too much for these smoochies and bowls. The manager may need to pop in a bit more for quality checks. Maybe they dont know. It may be lack of training. read more

I am a huge matcha fan so I wanted to stop by this place to give it a try. What caught my "eye" was that they had a sign outside that said they use "ceremonial grade matcha" so I wanted to see how it was. I asked one of the baristas how their matcha was made and she said it was blended. When I heard it was blended, I already figured it would not be that great. Usually, only Starbucks does that and places that use fake, cheap matcha powder that is not real high quality ceremonial grade matcha. However, I proceeded to order an iced matcha with oat milk and let me tell you the price for this was absolutely insane. It was $10. For $10 I expect an amazing high quality iced matcha latte. The taste of this drink was horrible, it had absolutely no flavor of matcha and just tasted so bland without any flavor whatsoever. It tasted like spoiled milk. I had watched the barista make my drink and noticed she had only put like 2 very small scoops of that matcha powder they use. Many other places in Manhattan area and Hermosa have way better matcha like Reborn Coffee, Gitana Cafe, and Verve Coffee Roasters. This was by far the worst matcha I have tried in Manhattan, CA. I do not recommend. In the same plaza "Manhattan Village" a few steps more is "Reborn Coffee" where the matcha is AMAZING. Do NOT waste your money coming to "SunLife Organics" for matcha because it is horrible. read more
