Ample street parking. She knows the neighbors. On my way out, a car in the neighborhood had keys remaining in the trunk so I went back to ask if her she knew whose keys it could be. I haven't used Sunny Cleaners for dry cleaning but based on these reviews, I think I'll know where to return if I need any dry cleaning done. I needed a pair of jeans hemmed and I was expecting the worst since I once paid $15 elsewhere. It was only $8 for the regular hem (simple cut and stitch) and $15 if I wanted the original bottom fringe left on. Not bad since I love those jeans to death. My jeans were finished in ONE DAY. Most places take a week, even if they aren't overworked. The quality of their work really shows too! They prefer cash so help a small business out and bring cash but they won't charge you extra if you use card. The employees are very helpful and offer great advice. I didn't feel like they were trying to make me opt for the more expensive option. I'm definitely coming back here for any future alterations :) No brainer five stars to this place for their awesome service, efficiency, later hours (most places around here close at 6 PM) and decent Berkeley parking (it's located in a neighborhood area and not the main street). read more

Sunny Cleaners is more than a dry cleaning/wash-fold/alteration place. It's also where the neighbors or customers come in to rest, sit and talk, and where neighbors like me meet other neighbors. The owner is very hard working, has a lot of integrity, pride in herself and her business and I swear she brings up the property value in our neighborhood. She's very value conscience and provides services at prices that's very affordable. Seeing her work so hard to taylor her clients clothes, make sure though stain came out, go the extra mile for the client, I really wish she would charge more and I told her she should. But she is really sympathetic to pricing and doesn't want to get as much money as she can out of her customers, instead she's into making an honorable living and feels that if customers appreciate her, they will recommend other people and build her business that way. Surprisingly poor service. Picked up my items today and they do not smell clean AT ALL. Also dropped off one sweater and one dress to be fixed (two small holes that needed mending) and neither were complete upon my arrival. I had to wait for the woman to sew them in front of me and she did a very poor job. After I let the person know that my items did not smell clean and I was surprised that I had to wait for my items to be sewn when I was told they would be fixed upon arrival she proceeded to charge me the full price. 7 items cost me $94. read more

I've been going to Sunny Cleaners for 5 years, and I've had a consistently excellent experience. The people working there are very nice and professional, and my clothes are always perfectly clean. I mostly visit Sunny Cleaners for dry-cleaning, and my clothes are always returned in excellent condition. I also go there whenever I have a pair of pants that needs altered or clothing mended. The seamstress quality is fantastic! I used to walk to Sunny Cleaners, but since we moved, I drive out of my way so that I can continue dropping my clothes there. Though Sunny Cleaners can easily be missed while driving down Shattuck Avenue, I am glad that I know of a Cleaners that are committed to good pricing and quality service. The woman working there is very friendly and pleasant. The prices are fairly inexpensive and I can always trust them with laundry shirts, leather care, and alterations. This is the best dry cleaning establishment I have ever used. Not only are they meticulous with the work (mark spots ahead of time and let you know if there might be an issue with the fabric or buttons etc. before cleaning) but-If something is better off with washing-they will tell you. The prices are fair. Alterations are fast and well done. I have never had them say my clothes weren't ready when agreed upon. And--as icing on the well-done cake--they know all of my names and greet me personally when I arrive and/or leave! I actually look forward to going to Sunny's! read more

So dropped off a ton of clothes: dress shirts, both cotton and linen; sweaters; dresses; blouses, etc. 95% of the clothes came by clean, well pressed, nice. But for some odd reason, a linen shirt of my husbands came back well pressed, but with a new giant rip down the sleeve down one of the sleeves (LONG, like from his mid-upper arm down towards the mid forearm). The woman was really sweet, told my husband that she "wouldn't charge us for it.". Unfortunately, I had dropped off the clothes, and my husband picked it up, so he couldn't say anything like "This shirt wasn't like this when I dropped it off". Oh well. They're really nice. I brought in two silk shirts to be cleaned. They got most of the stains out, but also left several faint pink stains over both shirts, one if which is white. They tried to get it out by cleaning again for free, but it did not work. They gave me store credit, but my expensive interview shirt is still ruined. They also did a repair on some dress pants that came out nicely, which is what the two stars are for. Very nice folks, but I can't say that I'd trust my shirts with them again. read more

This used to be my neighborhood dry cleaner when I lived around the corner from them. They offer awesome service at a very reasonable price. The owner is incredibly friendly and nice. They also do a fantastic job with hemming pants. I had to get a pair of pants hemmed pronto because I had an out of state job interview that I had to schedule without much notice. The owner was very accommodating and was able to get my pants hemmed by the next day. I highly recommend their services. It wasn't until I moved to New York that I realized dry cleaners can do more than wash my fancy shirts. When I moved back to the Bay Area, I went looking for a dry cleaner that provided the same full suite of services that my local shop had offered back in the East Village. Unfortunately, most of the places near BART and/or my house were either expensive, unreliable or rude - or all of the above. Sunny Cleaners is the exception to the rule. Not only do they handle my shirts and suits, I've had them fix pants, sew on patches, repair leather - they even cleaned a floor rug for me after my kid barfed all over it. They are always on time and their prices are amazingly cheap for what they do. Best of all, the ladies who work here are the kindest, most polite people you will ever meet. Their shop seems to serve as an unofficial gathering place for happy neighbors and customers seem drawn to the good cheer that emanates from within. She's very friendly and she does a great job but the best is that last week I was in a hurry to get my shirts before going to work went to pick them up and sunny forgot to put a rush on this service and I really needed my shirts for next day and couldn't make if after work to pick up the shirts, she apologized and offered me to bring my shirts to my home!! Not sure about you, but I most certainly don't want to worry if my clothes will be handled with care once they leave my possession. We tend to be unrealistic with what we want the dry cleaners to do.
