I've driven by Sunny's hundreds of times in Tempe and have always wondered how it was. Friends of mine swear by it as one of the best breakfast spots in town. From the outside it looks like just another breakfast spots....its not. I'm kinda surprised it doesn't get brought up more often, this place is great! Service was fast and friendly even though the place was fairly crowded. The inside is nothing special, typical booth and table seating options, but the food was amazing! Everything was good! On a scale of 1 to 10 I'll go back....Ive been back, I'll keep going back? All of the above!

Great experience! My daughter was thrilled that they had a fun pancake. As I have said before, it's hard to mess up breakfast, it's the easiest meal and Sunny did it right

Nice spot for breakfast or lunch! Good pricing and was able to accommodate our larger party. Server was very friendly and managed to keep up with everyone's orders when we all got there at different times. A few others helped run food and they were all speedy and efficient! Standard breakfast diner ambiance and feel. I for the banana chocolate chip pancakes and they were delicious! The breakfast sausage links were also really good

Food is always good has a homemade/hometown feel to it, food is always hits honestly we only come like once a month but food is always honestly great..just today there were to many young ladies had there hair down, for me food and hair is not always a good concept, I don't want food in my hair, I seen the young man wearing a hair net well serving food.. but then have some of your girls with longer hair just left upkeep and need to be bushed out, sorry that's my biggest pet peeve, I feel like servers have to look presentable and not look like they just got out of bed, came in for the biscuit because that's what I was craving.. highly recommend with our without the gravy...

I'm here for spring training baseball games and one of the men in our group suggested we come here from breakfast before heading out to a game and the two of us did. The restaurant about a 1/2 mile from our hotel so walked here. I ordered a chocolate chip and banana pancake that was absolutely delicious, maybe the best I've ever had. Bella, our server, could not have been nicer. She has a great sense of humor, was helpful in answering any questions and came back a couple times during our meal to see if we needed more tea, water or anything else. The restaurant is on University Dr. not far from ASU so an easy walk from the college. I'd highly recommend this restaurant to anyone visiting the area for breakfast or lunch.

I highly recommend the Country Breakfast. And the NewMexico omelette. The service is very chipper. The ambience makes you feel like family.

This is a very clean restaurant and I have never had a bad meal. Improvements, A smaller menu will help. And a reduced portion size for seniors. Service was great, attentive but not annoying

5 star service, 3.5 star food. I liked the home fries -- much closer to potato than fried, which I like. Plenty of food but not too memorable.

Favorite breakfast diner in the area! Reasonable prices, large portions of fresh food and friendly service. Our serve Bella was so sweet and welcoming, and the girl who checked us out at the end was so kind. Even the man who dropped our food off was so pleasant and made sure everything was okay! Plenty of seating and parking. We got the farmer skillet and it was delicious and the country friend steak. We had coffee and enjoyed the AC on a hot day.

Tried this local place not far from my home on a Sunday for brunch and it was overall great! Tastes better than any other brunch place and is fairly affordable! The service was great and I loved to see the effort all the workers put in to make sure we have everything we need to enjoy this meal. I also liked the idea that you don't have to get a full portion of pancakes you can only order one. Will be back for breakfast soon!

There is plenty of bar space if you're popping in for a drink.. of course, the actual bar that runs along the shelves of liquor, and there is also a bar on the other side of a roll-up door, perfect for people who come with dogs. There's also a bar space that runs along the window that separates the small dining room and the patio. There are a few tables inside as well as some bigger tables on the patio. The patio is nice with lots of shrubs right outside the rail. The murals on the wall are pretty darn cool - - they're like enlarged historic photos of the area. I love them! And I'm not sure who's giant face is hanging on the ceiling but it's short a spark conversation. The menu here has a little something for everyone. There's the regular loaded fries and wings, salads, and a nice election burgers. We ordered the Philly Salad and the Very Summer Salad with a side order of fries. They make their own ranch, and it is good. I will say they don't seem to skim on salad ingredients either - - the Philly salad was covered with shaved beef, and my berry salad had a lot of chicken and tons of blue cheese. The fries were delicious - - slightly seasoned and crispy. This place is clearly dog friendly. In fact the day we went there was a sweet Pitbull named Daisy who literally hopped up on a bar stool and sat there like a little angel the entire time. The bar had a dog full of water that they sat down on the counter next to her owner's beer. They also have dog biscuits to give. It made my day to see that sweet little dog hanging at the bar having a treat. This really is kind of a spot that feels like it's probably the hangout spot of many people. Cocktails were made well, I'd come back and try others. Our friends suggested The Hudson which worked for me, it's been sitting on my list for a while. Bar food was pretty good. Next time I'll try a burger since people like them a lot in reviews, and I love a good burger. This visit we had the carne asada cheesesteak with some onion rings and boneless wings. Both items were good. I think for me, 4 stars seems right since there's an element of having to order at the bar and then come back up if anything is needed. Making it feel somewhat self service but I'm sure we tipped like full service. And at first we were trying to figure out the menu, where to order, and apparently we had a learning curve that night. Brains were tired. We sat outside with the misters at night. That was totally fine. It wasn't one of the nasty hot days.

Afterwards, he mentioned that he tasted it and agreed about our comments- I appreciate that level of attention. Shortly after, the food arrived. Spicy pork tacos for me, and BLTA for my wife. Sprouts, carrot and cucumber toppings worked well, despite my expectations. The BLTA was HUGE. Great flavor. Both entrees were ordered with sweet potato fries. The milk bread was absolutely delicious, and the pibil dumplings were also really good. My only complaint is that they only came with three pieces, which felt a little expensive for the portion. The beef tartare was another standout. It was delicious on its own and paired really well with the banana chip, which added a nice contrast in texture and flavor. I would probably skip the white oak grilled skewers, though. They were pretty burnt, and unfortunately, they didn't really stand out to me compared to the other dishes. The ribeye was cooked to absolute perfection. We asked if they could prepare the two halves of the ribeye at different temperatures since my wife prefers her steak closer to medium, and they were more than happy to accommodate us. They even comped our milk bread because it took a little longer than expected to come out, which was a really nice gesture. Overall, an excellent experience from start to finish. Two of my tomatoes had active mold growing on them. It was too dark inside to see it but we ate in the car and saw the moldy spot then. The fries are good but way too salty. We really liked the fried mushrooms. But we made our own dipping sauce which was better than the ranch they give you: mix 2/3 mustard and 1/3 Mayo. Tangy and delicious. We get these at "The Windmill" when we go to the jersey shore and the sauce that comes with the fried mushrooms is a horseradish sauce which is amazing (hint hint, Chuck Box). Some people were casual and some more dressed up. We were seated at the front by the stage where live music was about to start. I thought this would be nice since I do enjoy live music. While I can certainly understand the convenience for hotel guests, I would recommend managing expectations if you are visiting specifically for the dining experience. We started with the Chili Chilies, which I was especially excited to try because it's a personal favorite. Unfortunately, the eggs arrived burnt rather than over-easy, sitting on what we could only describe as Mexican masa--almost like an attempt at corn chips. Next came the Hash, but unfortunately, it also seemed to have spent far too long under the heating lamp. By that point, I decided the safest choice for my breakfast experience was simply going to be the poached eggs. I do want to be fair and say that every restaurant can have an off morning, and perhaps this was simply ours. However, between the food being overcooked or seemingly held under the heat lamp too long, the meal just didn't leave the impression we had hoped for. One other thing worth knowing if you're visiting: parking is a challenge. The nearby garages appeared to be reserved for valet parking, leaving us to park about a block away to avoid any possibility of being towed. Overall, I'd probably keep this one primarily on the radar for Omni hotel guests looking for convenience, rather than making it a destination breakfast. Hopefully, our experience was an exception, because the concept certainly has potential.
