On top of that, the biscuits and gravy tasted of chemicals, the home fries had zero seasoning and the food overall needed help. 10/10 will never recommend this place. Absolutely disgraceful and so deceiving. How they have good reviews is beyond me. Replying to Alex: None of my children ordered hot chocolate so that's a bold faced lie. They had sprite & iced tea. The biscuits & gravy were not removed from my bill. She also initially charged us for adult grilled cheese meals & not the child ones for 2 of my kids. We walked in and we're seated immediately. All the staff were extremely nice and patient, even letting us hang out in our booth after we paid. My first time ordering an eggs Benedict and it did not disappoint! They even had tapatio at the table which is my favorite hot sauce. The corned beef hash was cooked with perfection. Exactly how I like it, crispy on the outside and soft in the inside. The mimosa flight is amazing, pomegranate flavor is my favorite. Just came home from a 9 day cruise on American Cruises. But the breakfast I had at Sunnnys Diner was the best all week. well done!

Sunny's Diner: "No gimmicks, just good food." Sunny's is not your trendy Sunday Funday spot and that's okay! Sometimes you want big, home style, no fuss portions! Sunny's IS the spot for that! Sunny's menu is extensive from pancakes, waffles, French toast, omelettes, Benedict's, skillets, burritos, biscuits, burgers, sandwiches, and salads. This visit we ordered the spinach Florentine (my attempt at having a healthier breakfast) and banana chocolate chip pancakes. The hollandaise sauce was a nice touch on the spinach Florentine! The banana chocolate chip pancakes were so good!! We had them without syrup as it was sweet enough. We easily could have split our order/saved half for another day but we didn't, haha! Classic diner food, reasonably priced and delicious! I tried their chocolate chip waffle (an extravaganza of chocolate chips, and lots of chocolate syrup and whipped cream). Very rich but very good. I would honestly recommend it for dessert though. The regular waffles were solid as well. Their biscuits and gravy is tasty, I personally found it just a tad too salty for me. But the biscuits were light and the gravy was meaty and rich. I love that they don't skimp on the gravy either. We always enjoy the food here! read more

This. Place. Is. Bomb. The kids love the pancakes and waffles combos with sweets and fruits. I generally order the Mexican style breakfasts. One must vet here early to get a table in a timely manner. The parking is a little crowded due to it being in a busy strip mall in busy tempe. People watching is great here also. Tempe is a wonderful place with all kinds of smiley folks. We were in town from California visiting family friends and they suggested we go to Sunny's. It was conveniently located to our hotel, less than 10 minutes away so we were excited to try a new restaurant out of town. Our party of 9 was seated promptly and Alex our server was at our table immediately to bring waters and get our drinks ordered. When he returned with them we were ready to order. The food came out quickly. It was excellent. Our server Alex and the rest of the Sunny's staff were not only taking care of us but they were running the whole place like a well oiled machine! Coffees were kept hot iced teas were religiously kept full and table maintenance was stellar! As a former restaurant worker myself for 15 years I have always appreciated great service and Alex was above and beyond excellent! I can say that he is mastering the craft. I wish nothing but success for this young man. I hope he gets the positive feedback from his customers and the restaurant management alike. Great job Alex! Keep up the great work!!! read more

We went in for breakfast this morning. I had 2 eggs, home fries, bacon and toast. The eggs were over easy and good. The bacon was fatty and flavorless. The home fries were way too overcooked. Dark brown almost burnt on top and the potatoes underneath were so done they were like mashed potatoes. Not very appetizing. I don't think i will be back. read more

Been driving by for years and always say, I should stop in and eat. This week I stopped. Mimosas. Bloody Marys and yummy food is what I found. I had a cranberry mimosa and the cowboy skillet. Sunny's is my husband and my new favorite breakfast/brunch spot. We went on a tour of Tempe's breakfast restaurants to compare and Sunny's is by far the best. The staff is always friendly and welcoming, and it's a calm enough atmosphere that we can hear each other talk without raising our voices. The food is excellent, part of the reason we go back is to try things we haven't had before! Our favorites so far are their waffles, skillets, and biscuits. And though neither of us are ASU students, it's nice to see they have an ASU student discount. Sunny's, I'm sure we'll be back again soon! read more

This place isn't much to look at from the outside, but inside there's a world of deliciousness to be found! Service was fantastic and they were able to accommodate my dietary needs. Hubs got the green chili omelette which was great and I got the all meat omelette with chorizo added. Both were excellent. The kid got the Mickey pancakes and was envious of our omelettes. I have eaten at Sunny's Diner several times, either by myself or with colleagues. Today, for the first time, I brought my wife for breakfast. During the meal, she lifted her FULL glass of ice water and the glass broke, spilling ice water all down her front and into her leather shoes. We get it, it was an accident and nobody's fault. It is how the situation was handled that is problematic. The first waitress who came by said she would be right back with towels. She never came back. My wife was left soaking in ice water. We finally had to flag down our waiter, Joseph, to bring a towel. We got through the meal and when the bill came, we were charged full price in spite of my wife having to try to enjoy her meal (her first experience at Sunny's) while cold and soaking wet. When this was pointed out, to Joseph's credit, he did take 10% off. Thankfully, there was no real harm done, just a lack of consideration by employees. read more

Food has always been good here. Our family loves this diner. Two of my kiddos who are attending ASU love the student discount when they come here. Faves include the chicken fried steak, pancakes, pork chops or steak breakfast plates, the Mexican selections, and corned beef hash. The Philly, club, and western burger are so good, too. We love the fries so much. Breakfast hash browns are a hit or miss (this visit they tasted old, though crispy). I would not recommend any of the coffee drinks as I don't think they are well equipped or have the knowledge to make it, especially if you're used to other coffee franchises. Just stick to the regular coffee. It's good. The ladies work really hard there when it's busy, but when it's slow, you're not going to be very well attended to. You see them, but they're not going out of their way to come back to your table unless you flag them down. It's alright though. We keep coming there to eat! Sunny's is one of our faves. read more

Had breakfast with our 4 boys for my husbands birthday.. (1 yr old twins, 2 & 5 year old), normally they share all of their food.. food was still very pricey. Aside from price being a little high, our waitress forgot all of our drinks and didn't put in our full order, so when my husband and I were eating, we asked what happened to the rest of our food, the waitress said she forgot to put it in.. When my husband took our boys to the restroom, it turned out their water was shut off, so no one was able to flush or wash their hand before going back to eat, which was very disgusting.. Overall, wasn't the best experience for spending $80 on a breakfast like this. read more

My three positives and a negative because the world needs more positivity: + the house special biscuits and sausage gravy were indeed delicious. The biscuit was flaky. The gravy had a nice sausage note + they have lattes on the menu. I was thrilled. Mind you I had to add some creamer to mine as it was GUSTO. Strong enough to put hair on your chest + hubby did a build your own omelette with chilies, mushrooms and avocado. I ordered pancakes which came with heated syrup. I tried to order banana nut but they were out of bananas. The food was hot which is always a plus - the pancakes were not the best. Fairly flat and dense. Went here a little while back on a weekend, mid morning, around 10ish.. it had that usual buzzing diner vibe. It was busy with customers throughout our time here... service was homey and friendly. Everything was fulfilled in a timely manner. Your typical diner menu, there are tons of options and the portions are generous. I ordered a breakfast burrito, our table also ordered peanut butter chocolate pancakes, French toast, and an omelet... the peanut butter chocolate pancakes is a good choice for someone who has a sweet tooth and loves Reese's.. French toast was fluffy.. and my burrito was filling.. I asked for their gravy on the side out of curiosity, it had a nice peppery flavor. A great mom and pop diner. Excellent menu selection. We visited twice. The first time we had omelets. The second time we had taco salads. Both times, the food was excellent. I had the homemade chorizo sausage on my omelet, then again on my taco salad - my-o-my it is good with a good amount of spice. Service was very good on both visits. My wife was busy so I went to breakfast solo. I've had a heck of a time trying to find a place that serves pork chops and eggs. Goody's was the absolute best at this dish (two thick flame seared bone in chops and 2 eggs for 11.99). Unfortunately they have closed. Well, I found that Sunny's has them on the menu so off I went. I have to say, overall, it was a good breakfast for sure. It comes with three eggs and two pork chops. However the bone in chops that are served are thin. Thin like about the thickness of a slice of round ham. (Sorry, didn't take a picture). I had asked the waitress (they are all teens) to ask the chef to cook the pork chops "juicy". She said "medium?". I repeated "Just say juicy and not hard". I've had too many cooks think they need to cook pork to the max. As it turned out these chops are pretty thin so "medium" will mean nothing. They did come to the table juicy. The hash browns look like they are boiled then fried. They are actually pretty good. The eggs were on the small side so three was just right. I ordered tortillas instead of toast and they were fair. You get two that are a little bigger than a corn tortilla (you can order corn tortillas). I believe the cook puts the tortillas on the grill because they aren't elastic like when you put them in the microwave. Overall it was a good breakfast but priced a bit high at $14. Two eggs and two chops at $11.99 would be a better deal for these thin chops. read more

We were seated quick (even with the social distancing that they had happening inside) and our food was out quick. All in all, I was satisfied with my meal and would return again to try out additional items in the future. read more

Legit greasy spoon type diner that serves good food and good portions. My daughter had chicken-fried steak with potatoes and my wife and I both ordered omelettes. I went with the Whole Hog with potatoes and pancakes. The omelette was stuffed and the potatoes were served in a huge portion. Couldn't complain.
