I usually try to support local businesses, but should have checked reviews first. My car was repaired through an insurance claim, where I was told I would be responsible for the deductible payment only. Instead, I was presented with a $407.25 additional charge upon pickup, and I needed my car as the rental had been returned that day. The invoice showed 2 charges that are typically absorbed in a claim; and were not submitted to insurance for prior approval, so fell to me. If Sunnyside was unable to complete repairs at the amount approved by insurance, they should have sent in a request for supplement, and/or advised me of additional charges expected so that I could have the option to select another repair facility. I feel my claim was handled very unprofessionally and exemplifies a questionable business practice. I want others to be aware before choosing to support this business. read more

This used to be our go to place but not anymore. Just went in for an oil change and was charged $140. They said it was due to higher oil prices but they charged us for a full hour of labor just to do an oil change. read more

Phenomenal service is an understatement. I live a few hours away and was up here for work and broke down on the side of the road. They reassured me that they could take a look at my car and squeeze it in if I could get it to them. Within minutes they diagnosed and repaired an issue that was caused by a lube oil somewhere else. They charged me nothing and sent me on my way. Absolutely have never experienced Customer Service like this. They understood that I needed to get back home tonight and could've price gouged me for at minimum their time spent diagnosing issue. I recently went for an oil changed. Last time I was in, which was 6 months ago, I paid $70-$80. Today I was charge $160.00. I just about jumped out of my skin. OIL CHANGE and that is it!!! They said it was due to the increase of oil and the increase cost to have the oil removed. I love this place, but they can warn a fellow of rate increases. read more

BEWARE! I took in a 2013 Lexus for a taillight bulb replacement ...without looking at the car they said it was not possible unless I had a replacement LED light from a Lexus dealer and the cost would be $378.71. BEWARE!!! This shop is all about taking advantage of out-of-town customers. They would nickel and dime the customer and not stand behind their work. My car developed a visible coolant leak under reservoir while I was visiting Sequim. I left the car at their shop for a week to fix it. In addition parts and labor they charged me for things like battery charging, diagnostic (which was wrong) and what not but the leak wasn't fixed. I drove the car for 5 miles and I could see the leak from exact same spot (picture). I took the car back to them but they couldn't fix it. The front desk person was nice until they collected our money. After we reported the issue she told us to talk to someone else who we had never met. Chris, at Sunnyside Auto, told me that I needed a new transmission in my car and that the cost would be 10,000$! He said black fluid was sloshing all over the underside of the car. I took it to Wilder who said there was a small leak in the oil filter housing and fixed it for under 1,000. In the last two days, I've asked friends about Sunnyside and SIX people were told they had expensive problems with their cars that did not exist. BEWARE! If I could do negative stars, I would, in a heartbeat. This place charged me $202 for an essential oil change. I firmly stated at the time of drop off I did not want ANYTHING extra. When I went to pick up my car I viewed my invoice and was charged for my oil changed (that included the oil) and charged for an ADDITIONAL 5 quarts of oil. Also, I was charged for the change of my cabin air filter. I did NOT authorize this charge. When I let the front desk attendant know that this was completely asinine, she told me if I wanted a refund for the UNAUTHORIZED charge that she would just put my quote: "nasty cabin air filter back in my vehicle then!" Aside from the outrageous oil service price and the unauthorized change and charge of my cabin air filter, I was also told I needed the following replaced on my car ASAP: Passenger Valve Cover Gasket and Lower Control Arm Bushings. Well, with these fools already being shady I did my research, and called up Koeing Subaru in Port Angeles, and was told a basic oil change with them is $80! Mind you, this is at a dealership you would think it would be more expensive. I also brought my vehicle in there this morning for an inspection and they informed me that NEITHER of the issues that Sunnyside stated appeared to be an issue with my vehicle and my car was in relatively great 'health.' I will never do business with these clowns EVERY AGAIN. After sharing my experience with my Facebook audience I learned that several other people have had similar issues. Our car broke down in Sequim while we were on a road trip and Sunnyside Automotive was the first place we called. While they couldn't help with our specific situation (due to the car part we needed), they were kind enough to recommend another automotive repair shop that helped us get back on the road. I guess mechanic wise, these guys are as good as you could expect in a small town, but their customer service and business skills are the worst. Will never go here again after they ruined a $300.00 tire on my Cadillac cts-v on an extended test drive. Due to all of the good reviews (these are the only ones you see as they delete all others) they obviously think that they are above making a mistake and so therefore are unable to admit it. Like I said, in all fairness, I don't doubt that they are good mechanics, their business acumen is just very poor. God forbid they should make a mistake on YOUR car because if they do and you call them on it you will only get a very defensive reply and they will hang up on you and tell you not to come back. I've found better, more professional service at the local dealer for about the same money. I wont be back here. Don't be duped as I was, only good reviews on here because they wont allow a negative post and will delete it from their website. Just sayin. read more

Whoa! What an experience! I pulled in with what felt like a stuck right rear brake. I left the car with Chris at Sunnyside for a brake check, and walked to breakfast. Chris called and said I needed a brake job on the right rear, and for $700 he could do it. I asked for a military discount, and he said $700 is already the senior discount rate. I asked if he provided pick-up or drop-off service to my home location, and he said he couldn't pay a tech $90 an hour for that. What? A brake tech gets paid $180K per year? wow, I may have just found my second career! I called Les Schwab, 0.3 miles down the street, and they said to bring it in for an eval but it would likely be about $490. I called back to Chris Sunnyside and said that I'd be back to pick up the car because $700 was too high. He said he couldn't release the car because it was unsafe to drive. I said that it sounded like he was holding my car ransom for a $700 brake job. Blah, blah, blah. He said he could only release the car with a Sequim City Policeman to escort me. I said, no, please don't call the police. We walked back to Sunnyside, just as the police car pulled in. Chris handed us the key, and the policeman chatted with us about the car, chatted with Chris about the car. In the end, the officer said that we still had good brakes on three wheels... What a sensible reply! My concern about driving was that the rotor would overheat, causing the wheel to overheat, possible causing tire damage/blowout. Policeman said it would be fine to drive for short distances, but if we'd like, he could follow us to Les Schwab. Kudos to the policeman. Boo for the Sunnyside overpriced, naughty Chris. read more

Chris, Susie & Doodlebug their mascot are terrific. I've had Chris & Susie manage the work on a car that fell out of warranty and they did a superb job at a very reasonable cost! Recently, I had an issue where I believed I had a minor leak and they checked it out. They determined there was no issue and didn't charge me. I am a customer of theirs for the long haul!
