Immediate service from behind the counter, even though she had several tables out front and a coffee pot in one hand. As she delivered the menus, she went through the specials, which included a couple of items with chorizo sausage that almost made me change my order. I ordered a very generous ground sirloin, Patty and three fried eggs, skipped the potatoes and toast and subbed a beautifully cooked pancake and a fresh fruit bowl. While I waited for my food, not very long, I got a chance to watch the short order cook work the griddle, and what turned out to be one of the owners work four pans on the cooktop making eggs. There's a certain raw beauty to watching a short order cook on a griddle. It was clear watching people come and go, that most are locals. Over half the customers I saw come in greeted by name and their drink order put on the table without them, even having to say anything. Clearly, this place has an amazing following and the owner confirmed it's out the front door on weekends. What an awesome way to start my morning in Coos Bay.

The granola she said was perfect and the yogurt was delicious! Cane with fresh bowl of fruit as well, couldn't be more perfect! We finished with a fresh maple donut that was still warm from the oven. The atmosphere is quaint and intimate. Small but very clean and well maintained, the wood and eclectic coffee cups are so cool. Hunter and the staff at Heavenly Italian Sub & Soda were able to help us out/coordinate within a matter of a couple days, truly exceptional service! The oatmeal appeared to be very old as the spoon would not come out of it without a struggle, French Toast was one thin slice for $8.00 and the omelets were just ok. We were told later that there was not a cook there so one of the waitresses cooked. This is a disgrace to all the people living there and paying big bucks to do so. We have since learned that when a group such as a community organization meets there regularly they bring in a cook, not a chef but at least someone that can at least make oatmeal. We will never return until a trained cook is there all of the time. Taking advantage of elderly people is a crime.
