I was quite disabled when I arrived and it wasn't until I started to recover, near the end of my stay there, that I wanted to go home. I knew I needed to be there, and the staff members knew I did too. Most were attentive and supportive and any concerns I had (there weren't many) were addressed promptly. The facility is kept very clean, the food was good (they accommodated my special requests) and there are daily activities for the patients to partake in. Staffing however, could be better. Please note that the main reason I chose Sprain Brook Manor was for the physical therapy and it was definitely the right choice. When I arrived there, and I do not exaggerate, I could not sit up, stand up, walk, use the bathroom, write, tie my shoes or pretty much anything else that required the use of my hands, legs and back. Thanks to the amazing efforts of my physical therapist Gilbert and my occupational therapist Rolanda, I improved slowly but surely and, to the surprise of many, I was able to walk out of there and go home! I cannot thank those two enough and will be forever grateful to them for accomplishing the impossible!

While I want to sincerely thank the excellent PT, OT staff, and the Activity Director--all of whom were compassionate, professional, and highly competent--my experience with the nursing care and administration left me deeply concerned. While some nurses and aides were attentive, others showed a disturbing lack of empathy, especially toward vulnerable residents. One elderly woman--who I learned was a former nun--would cry out for help repeatedly at night. She was often ignored for hours, even when she managed to crawl into the hallway from her bed (which had been placed on the floor for fall prevention). I personally witnessed night staff literally walk around her, rather than assist. On the rare nights a more compassionate aide was present, she received help--but this should not be the exception. Upon discharge, my prescribed medications (from the hospital) were supposed to be coordinated with my local pharmacy. I was assured by both the "visiting physician" and head nurse that my prescriptions were sent. They were not. I confirmed multiple times with the pharmacy that nothing had been received. I ended up discharged at 1:00 PM with no access to critical medications, despite having done everything I was told. Repeated calls to Bayberry got me nowhere--staff had already "gone home for the day." Finally, at 10:15 PM, I was told I could come pick up my medications myself--and only after insisting--was I offered reimbursement for the $100 Uber round trip. After a month of serious health challenges, I was forced to travel at 10:30 PM from the Bronx to New Rochelle just to get the medications I should have had that morning. My pharmacy did not receive proper prescription orders until 4 days later. No apology or follow-up was ever given by the Nursing Home Administrator, the Head Nurse, or the "Visiting Physician." This facility may appear quaint and capable of personalized care, but too many staff members are either untrained, indifferent, or both. If your loved one is cognitively impaired or unable to advocate for themselves, please be cautious. Bayberry needs to do serious internal reflection and overhaul its administrative and night shift care systems. Until then, I cannot in good conscience recommend this facility to others.

The staff is friendly, welcoming, and treats both patients and their families with kindness and respect. One thing that has stood out is the food--it is fresh, tasty, and well prepared, which is so important during recovery. Families also have access to a microwave and vending machines, which is a thoughtful convenience during visits. The Director of Nursing has been attentive and responsive, and outside medical appointments are scheduled appropriately with follow-up care coordinated. The facility itself is modern, clean, and well maintained, with housekeeping staff consistently keeping the environment spotless. Patients have access to their own television with a Fire Stick, which helps make their stay more comfortable. I also appreciate the therapy department's open-door policy, which allows families to feel more involved in the rehabilitation process. My only suggestions for improvement would be to provide more regular updates on patients' progress so families can better understand how rehabilitation is going. In addition, the West Wing seems to be short-staffed on weekends, which can affect the overall experience. Overall, I would recommend this facility. The caring staff, clean environment, quality food, and strong therapy services have made a positive difference in my husband's recovery.

Also my favorite CNA(s) are Mousha , Ella, Ms Bennett, Ms Brown , Deya and several others . The nursing staff is excellent . I must say they are very nice to you and I'm improving so much in my PT treatment here that if I keep up, I will be going home soon. I wasn't walking when I got here but now I'm using a walker with assistance .I walked 100 feet today and I'm so happy for the little things . The physical therapy staff is very good . I work with Justine and Christian . They keep the facility clean. It's a very nice rehab place to be in . I'm not crazy about the food but I can ignore that. My main focus is getting well and going home.

I will list what I know they have and I am sure I am missing something. First off, there are homes on the perimeter of the main building where residents who are retired can live on their own. These homes are pretty spectacular. The main residence has fully furnished apartments within a large facility. These apartments have large bedrooms, a very nice kitchen and a lovely living room area. The amenities are....seating dining area for lunch and dinner. Breakfast is delivered to the residents rooms each morning. There is a buffet dining room area. There is a bistro dining area. There is also a fine dining area which requires reservations and appropriate dress. I think there is another dining area but with so many dining areas I was getting a bit confused as to the options. Beauty salon with full services including manicures, library, banking, bingo, music hall on one floor and auditoriums on another floor. Exercise classes, art classes, all sorts of crafting classes, Swimming pool, movie area. There are common areas on the floors with large screen TV's for everyone to gather and watch TV. There is a thrift store on site open at specific times during the week. There are social workers on site that coordinate with the residents on activities to keep the residents up and moving. Medications are brought to the residents rooms daily at the time they are to take the medications. No worrying if your loved one has forgotten their medications at this place.They have a bus that takes residents shopping and also car service for off site events. Basically their own personal Uber. All of these amenities are in the living area where residents can live on their own with little or no assistance. Some of the residents do have their own aids that stay with them. Some residents have their dogs and are able to walk them on the lovely campus. This place is beautiful and has a beautiful setting. Off of the main building is the nursing home living area. This is for residents who need specialized and more monitored assistance. Even this area is amazing. Like no other care facility I have ever visited. As long as the resident is not bed ridden, they are up and in a common area either watching TV or participating in another activity. There are two floors to the nursing area. There is a common dining room where everyone eats their meals. They residents dine with a nursing assistant incase they need specialized help with eating. After eating the residents return to the common area to again watch TV or participate in other activities. The specialized nursing facility has residents rooms which in no way feel like a nursing home. Residents can bring in their own decorating items from home. Between each little quad of rooms is a common seating area with large screen TV's and books to read. There is a pantry with cereals, juices, milk and nutritional drinks in every flavor. It looks like the ratio of aids to patients is 2 to 1. No worry that your forgetful loved one might walk offsite without the facility being aware. The residents wear special watches which set off alarms should they go beyond the facilities doors. Only those patients that have a tendency to wander and be a bit forgetful wear these watches. This is a 5 star long term living resort for your loved one. If you can afford it, this is the place for any senior needing a little or a lot of extra help to live.

My husband said he feels safe here and that they treat him so well. Instead of sitting around, he has activities all the time.
