That they are extremely understaffed. That there has even come a time when 1 caregiver had to work a whole floor themselves during the morning and evening shift. So therefore how is one person giving showers, feeding them , changing them and caring for them. I am being told my mom is sometimes not fed because they forget to feed her. They use the supplies that I buy for her like combs, socks and shirts and use them for other residents. They use my mom's wipes and briefs for other residents. That the staff does not use hoyer as they should be and sometimes one caregiver is transferring my mom who is not that skinny or lightweight onto the wheel chair and back for meals. I didn't think much because I barely am able to visit with my work schedule and so a I was told this by caregivers Mike the director is apparently cheap and does not provide enough supplies that even caregivers have to go without wipes or gloves. I will be calling the state licensing and have them come in the specific days and times the caregivers have explained to me so that they could see what's really going on.

My father often told us how grateful he was to live there and always referred to Belmont as "home." The staff truly knew and cared about my parents as individuals. The only reasons I did not give this place a 1 star are its many warm caregivers and its extensive…read moregarden. The management has been atrocious throughout the 3.5 years my mom spent there. During this time, there were two executive directors who came and went. The more recent one lasted over 2.5 years. She was a pathological liar who stopped showing up to work on a regular basis about half way into her tenure. Everybody she hired was either related to her or a friend of hers, so there was no accountability. Residents were regularly neglected, physically as well as emotionally. I informed her boss about it in January '24, and her boss' boss (!) in October '24, but she lasted all the way through December '24. In between January '24 and October '24, when my mom left, there were numerous phone calls, Zoom meetings, and in person meetings with the Executive director's boss and other concerned family members. We were always promised that things will improve, but they never did. It's worth noting that the place is particularly awful for wheelchair bound residents, as I found out during my mom's last 5 weeks there. Nobody ever wheels them around the beautiful garden, as grossly misrepresented in the video on the main page of the Summerfield website. If they're lucky, they will be taken to the activity room, but often they are just left behind. Many families hire a private caregiver for their loved ones in Summerfield, but even those have all left in disgust. As the saying goes, "a fish rots from the head down". ALSO, VERY IMPORTANT IF YOU ARE CONSIDERING PLACING YOUR LOVED ONE IN SUMMERFIELD: Be aware that many of the reviews are written by Summerfield Employees and folks who just came in for a visit.

She has been here since August of 2023 and our family has been very pleased with her care. The facility is relatively small, secure (locking gates and door to public areas), and I am not worried at all about Mom wandering out. The staff is very loving, caring, and attentive to mom's needs. I've also had the pleasure to dine with her several times and the food is always very very good! The facilities are clean and well maintained, and there is a lovely activities room and backyard/patio area. I can't say enough about how kind and accommodating the staff and management have been. I have an uncle who spent a lot of time with her daily, into the evenings, and he also raved about how wonderful my mom is cared for. As her care and medical needs have increased, we recently brought in hospice. They also commented on how much the med tech knows about my mom, and were impressed. Hospice and Summerfield are now working together to make the rest of mom's days as comfortable as possible. Is it perfect? No assisted living facility is ever perfect. But when there are issues (room needs cleaning, for example) it has always been addressed quickly. The staff is prompt at calling me when there is an issue with mom. The med techs and caregivers usually know off the top of their heads, what kind of day my mom is having. If there's been a shift change, whomever I ask always looks up the med tech notes and lets me know how she's been that day. We have many family members visit Mom, and they are always welcomed and never rushed out or made to feel obtrusive or in the way. In fact, lots of love and visits are strongly encouraged, and the staff is always so accommodating! There are many different types of facilities in San Diego area, and I recommend that Summerfield be on your list to check out if you have the need for memory care assisted living for a loved one. They are very competitively priced, and with the wonderful care, good food, activities, and kind people, this place is definitely worth a look.

As my mom has transitioned to hospice care the staff has been amazingly, dedicated and observant of her needs. Throughout our lifetime, our family has owned five senior citizen, retirement centers, and I know how much it takes to run a center such as RanchView. I highly recommend RanchView and all the staff to anyone considering placement for their parent. My decision to move to RanchView was slow and deliberate. My mom had been in home support care living at home for 10 years. I only chose RanchView after a long and dedicated search. My decision was wonderful and I can't recommend RanchView enough. RanchView staff is like family and the facility is our home. When I bring family members with me to visit mom, staff remembers them and also offers to help them to make their visit with mom more comfortable, such as sharing snacks or meals, or providing any type of comfort or conversation that makes their visit to my mom more enjoyable. RanchView stands out as going above and beyond every day.

When a loved one is in a home, holidays in general are difficult, Thanksgiving in particular, may be the most difficult for our family. Kathleen established terrific traditions, hosting 10-20 friends or family and baking 8-10 pies making our 6 grandchildren feel special. This year Ranch View celebrated Thanksgiving one week early and we invited our best friends who attended and made the day even more special. For the second year in a row our family wanted to bring Thanksgiving to Kathleen at Ranch View on Thanksgiving day. Maria and staff set up a table and 10 chairs in a private room for our family Thanksgiving and it was a huge success. My parent was a resident for a very short time. I moved them out due to lack of compassion,…read moretraining, and staffing. The staff is NOT trained to handle different dementia behaviors. I witnessed staff, on several occasions, ignoring residents when they became combative and difficult. Hearing them tell one another, "I am not handling them". My parent was accused of aggressive/abusive behaviors. Sending them to the ER, rather than deescalating the situation. Staff expected my demented parent to inform them when they were becoming agitated or overwhelmed to provide them with their prescribed "as needed" medication. Staffs lack medical training/guidance Director Caroline S. would call demanding my parent be removed out of the facility, despite physician advising against this. Our provider informed the director, on more than one occasion, any move would be detrimental to their health. Director does not appear to have medical knowledge, or is just not familiar with physician orders. Medications were not administered as directed. The facility is not staffed appropriately with the amount of residents. Many residents were alone with no staff around. I witnessed staff sitting around and speaking about other residents. Highly unprofessional and unethical. Rooms were cleaned daily. There was leftover food in my parents room from the night before. Bugs flying around in and around the room. Despite of personal items being labeled, my parents clothes, personal possessions, walker and cane would end up in other residents rooms. The facility made a strong impression that my parent would be well taken care of. Safe and well cared for. The facility made it impossible and difficult for my parent to adjust. This is supposed to be a memory care facility. Staff is supposed to be trained to handle ALL levels of dementia. They don't! Had I known this, I would have never placed my parent in this facility. I do not recommend this facility with your loved one.

They were also able to adjust the level of care as his situation changed over time, adding a service to help him with his medications, and later his bathing and dressing when that became difficult for him.
