I've only had one thing off SBK's menu, their famed chicken biscuit, and that is all I will ever care to get. The biscuit is huge, fluffy, and buttery. The chicken is also huge, and very juicy and flavorful. You can add more onto your biscuit, but I like mine bare-bones. Simple, but done oh-so-very-right. Yes, the downside is that the drive through lane is pretty small, so there's always a ton of cars down Franklin trying to get their biscuit fix in the AM. However, the drive thru line has always been relatively fast when I go here so it wasn't a big problem. So yes, sunrise definitely warrants their high rating on Yelp. GO. GO NOW. read more

BLUF: Dirt cheap food that's great for the price. Line will be long, but it moves faster than you'd expect. I'm still a little confused about what all the hype around this place is about. The food was not bad at all. In fact, for the nominal prices they charge, the food is excellent; that just doesn't seem like a reason to have the drive-through line wrapped around the building and out into the street, in my opinion. Regardless, don't let the long line scare you away. They move pretty quick here. The cinnamon rolls are great and you absolutely must order one (or two or three) if you go. The biscuit I had (BLT) wasn't anything special, but it was a nice little breakfast. All together, a cinnamon roll, BLT biscuit (one of their most expensive), and a hash brown cost me about $6. They have a great biscuit and it can totally slap. The size of the biscuit's huge too. If you're going to come here, definitely get a biscuit and definitely get one with chicken. The quality of the ingredients, beyond the biscuit and chicken, are ehh. The bacon's really thin, so the bacon egg and cheese could have really used more than a couple slices. The egg tastes pre-mixed kinda like eggs on fast-food biscuits and the American cheese tastes like it could possibly be Kraft. I make a stop at Sunrise Biscuit Kitchen every time I visit the Chapel Hill area. Biscuits are my favorite food so making a trip to SBK is something I always look forward to. My most recent visit was this past weekend. Previously I had always gotten the fried chicken biscuit but I wanted something lighter, even if only slightly so, so I went with the country ham biscuit. As usual the biscuit was AMAZING. SBK biscuits are fluffy, most, buttery, soft inside with a slight crust on the outside. They are perfect. My past experiences with the fried chicken as my protein of choice have always been delicious. The fried chicken is hearty and well cooked/seasoned. I am partial to country ham and was looking forward to trying it at my latest visit. The country ham was salty and tender, just as ham should be. We got there early, around 9:30, on a Sunday which mean the drive through line was short. Definitely try to go as early as possible because the line was starting to back up as we were leaving. Also there is no where to sit down and eat inside or outside. If you are a visitor to Chapel Hill, be sure to make a stop at Sunrise Biscuit Kitchen to get a real southern breakfast experience. read more

I was skeptical that these biscuits could be that good, and was surprised by the line extending onto franklin street when we drove up. I now understand the hype and the long line..the chicken biscuit was incredible! The biscuit was very large and had an entire fried chicken breast in the middle. The biscuit was light, fluffy, and buttery; the chicken was cooked perfectly with a nice crisp on the outside and super juicy inside. They were surprisingly fast at taking and delivering our order, but you could tell the food was very fresh as well because it was hot and tasted excellent. The egg is fresh and they do not skimp on the amount of bacon for a reasonable price. The sausage, egg and cheese is also a solid choice. I was not a fan of the ham, as I found it to be too salty for my preference. Next up for me is the chicken biscuit which I hear is very good. The sweet tea is a fan favorite. They do offer other items than biscuits but I always order biscuits. They are that good. You can even purchase just the biscuits to go and make your own sandwiches at home. Finally made it to Sunrise Biscuit Kitchen... it lived up to the hype. It is definitely a superior breakfast to your normal drive-thru biscuit establishments. I had a Western Steak Biscuit with egg and cheese. The country fried steak was quite good. The biscuit left a little bit to be desired but overall quite good. I loved that you can get an Arnold Palmer (one of my favorites). If you order something that does not come with a hashbrown, I'd just skip the hashbrown. The biscuit itself is plenty and the hashbrown is nothing particularly special. However, the cinnamon roll was soft and delicious. I'm sure I'll be back but keep in mind that the drive-thru line can get quite long (backs up onto East Franklin). read more

It was the perfect balance between moist and crumbly. Honestly, it's the best biscuit I've ever had. I've lived in NC for a year and haven't had anything better. The chicken filet was cooked perfectly and tasted amazing on the biscuit. I was skeptical of the cheese, but it was amazing. It held the whole sandwich together.
