The variety before the bridge are sweeter and the one right behind the stand is more tart but has thick skin and is better for baking and freezing. The lady was incredibly friendly. They only accept cash, check, and Venmo, and even then they don't have a ton of change for cash so be prepared for that. There is a nice sitting/picnic area to the right of the stand. I enjoyed picking here, it's just a little more out of the way

Despite me "making" them go, we all had a great time and picked 3, ate one, picked 3, ate one and so on and so on and so on until our bellies and our boxes were full of berries. At this visit (mid-July) there were many varieties of red raspberries, blueberries, and yellow raspberries ($3/lb), a bouquet of flowers (50 cents to $1 a stem), and the freshest green beans ($1.50/lb). Other veggies and herbs were also available. The garden is surrounded by rolling hills and backed by snow capped mountains. Just beautiful! Less than 30 minutes outside of the city, but a world away.

It's actually hard to leave the fun and laughter of weekly pickups--meeting new and old friends, families with kids of all ages, singles, and grandparents. Zephyr is not like any CSA we've done before. Instead of the usual line of people picking up a box of CSA preselected quantities and types and leaving, Zephyr is community based, provides weekly activities, and there are no pre-sets on quantities, veggies, or flowers. We are able to choose what we want in quantities we will use from a variety of freshly harvested vegetables--tomatoes, potatoes, and onions, but also new and even exotic choices. Each week brings surprises; making fresh doughnuts or cotton candy, picking bouquets; roasting peppers; making salsa; potlucks, making wreaths; swapping ideas and recipes, and learning and trying new varieties of peppers, melons, herbs, tomatoes, and leafy vegetables. Farmer Bryan's weekly newsletter has helpful recipes and suggestions for that week's products. Those on limited incomes should not forego fresh food because Zephyr works with their customers with payment plans that meet the needs of everyone; there are sliding scales, payment plans, and they accept SNAP. My son loves pumpkins that it inspired our recent trip here. I've never been to a pumpkin patch…read morebefore. I was really clueless of what to expect. There were several activities to do here besides pumpkin picking. The staff was nice as we were greeted with friendly smiles. The admission price is $18 at the entrance. It's $16 online, but you have to reserve a time slot. Children under two years old are free. I don't go to farms regularly so I don't have much to compare to it. We visited on a weekday, which wasn't too busy. It was mainly made up of school field trips. It was an enjoyable fall activity for my toddler. He was too small to fully enjoy the big slides and other playground areas. He still had fun seeing the different types of pumpkins and farm animals that he recognized from his books. He liked running around and going through the tunnels. There was a corn maze and carnival style games without the prizes. There was also a hayride, which you can also use to go to the parking lot. It's not a long walk to the parking lot, but it's good to know it was an option. There's a store if you want a souvenir or some apple cider. I forgot to take photos to post with this review, but I guess we were just caught up in the pumpkin patch fun. Seeing my son's happy face and hearing his laughter were worth the price of admission for me.

***Updated review after going to this farm for pumpkin season***…read more During Christmas time, you get to explore the grounds without paying an admission, but for the fall season it's $18 admission per person at the gate or $16 if you purchase tickets online ahead of time. There are a few more activities included during the fall season, but most require an additional cost anyway. For example they have pig races and pony rides on the weekends, but the pony rides cost $9. They also have apple and pumpkin cannons, but they cost $5 each. There are some activities only available on weekends, but if you're trying to avoid crowds and go on a weekday, admission costs the same. And on top of all that you still need to buy the pumpkins that you pick out. And you need to buy some pumpkin donuts before you leave (do not miss out on these donuts!) So, while I love this farm, it can turn into quite an expensive day depending on how many people you are coming with and which activities you choose to do.
