Looking for some hometown cooking? Skip the greasy biscuts at your local stop and get on down here to the yummy Sunrise Diner in Brunswick Ga.! Where the staff is sweet as the French roast. No skimping on portions either! Love that bacon !

The weekend service is non-existent. I tried to get a to go order; I was told they don't TURN ON THE PHONE ON THE WEEKENDS & I was lucky they weren't busy or I couldn't have ordered a to-go order. The service during the week is exceptional; the food fresh, but I believe I'll have to reconsider my dining choices It is sometimes hard to hear because of acoustics.

Create your own omelet- American cheese, mushrooms, sausage. (Ignore the ketchup- that was added after)

We stopped here on our way home from Jacksonville to Ohio. Great location for passing through, right off the interstate. Although, we stopped here on a Sunday afternoon. We arrived at 12:15 (they close at 1) and they were packed! We waiting about 15 minutes to be seated. Our service was short and sweet. No frills or extras. You could tell they were about to close and ready to get us out the door. She was friendly enough though. Food arrived super quick. Food was good. First omelet I've ever had that had sliced cheese on top of it, not sure I would want that again. But for a stop to grab breakfast and get back on the road, it wasn't bad.

Looks can be deceiving. I want to give this place a high rating just walking in the door. The locals were here and the place was booming! These are all great signs of a fantastic breakfast to come. I rate breakfast places starting with real potatoes, so I am wasting my time writing this, but hopefully saving yours. They had frozen hashbrowns. My eggs were prepared well and the toast was buttered! The hubby had chicken and a waffle, which he said was just ok. The boys had chocolate, banana crepes. They said they were ok, but that they were not filled. I thought they looked good, but I am no crepe expert, like these boys. Our server was Tess, who was fantastic. The coffee was good.

Visiting from Kentucky we decided to eat at this breakfast place to get our day started before seeing the sites lighthouse, beach, WWII memorial. Service - 5/5 Receipt stated hostess name was Dorthy. Our hostess was amazing and friendly. She was able to offer many options and advice. She was friendly and was able to make customizations for my needs. She was attentive to our needs. Food 4.5 / 5 the food was delicious and hit the spot entirely. I got the breakfast burrito and my partner got the cheese burger. My partner made the statement that he enjoyed that the food was freshly cooked. Allergy - Considerations were made for my needs. Environment / Ambiance 5/5 The environment is chill and family friendly. Our table and area was clean and tables were cleaned in a timely manner. Noise Level - Average was 67.4 decibels. Picture attached. I took snapshots of the sound throughout the experiences. The loudest was probably the person busing the tables. He was really loud with the plates clashing together. LGBTQ+ Rating - 2/5 Me and my partner felt safe here and didn't receive any stares or comments towards us. Didn't see any signage of safe place. No pride month memorabilia / display or support (time of review June) Would Be Back / Would Recommend Definitely would go back and would recommend to others.

    Country Benedict. Ummmmmm good.

Not much more to say. Polite friendly staff. Quick service. Really really good food. I had country Benedict with corned beef hash - not your canned dog food stuff. Smokey with chunks of potatoes and meat. Eggs done perfect with a tangy gravy. English muffins on the side. Great. Would order again. Wife got pancakes. With bananas. Really good. Great service, A fair price. Will be back.

Loaded pancakes! And chorizo and eggs. Yum!

Loaded pancakes with bacon and sausage INSIDE and chorizo and eggs. Omg so good! I hate breakfast but I could eat here everyday. Our servers name was Troublemaker but she couldn't be nicer. The place was clean and nicely lit. Will definitely stop again next time thru this area.

A beautiful plate, and delicious as well.

Opening Yelp, I check the list of saved restaurants, and my wife points out this place. I mean, 4.9 stars with 525 reviews, and the Google rating is 4.6 with 3450 contributions. One would think with all those stars, you'd be guaranteed a great experience. That, of course, may end the evening with "brown chicken, brown cow." We arrive, and immediate retro-dinner vibes set in. As we walk past the back door into the kitchen, we see two small, well-used smokers. My first thought was, "Whatever gets the job done." I know I have turned out many great cuts of meat from mine. Next, I notice an older woman struggling to smoke a cigarette, hacking away; it was a clear sign she should quit. We walk into the restaurant, and the retro vibe continues, from the old diner seats and tables to the music playing from the ceiling speakers. Being a car guy, I liked the row of model cars above the bar, but they could use a feather duster or a Swiffer. One word of caution: if you are heading to the restrooms, be aware of the sudden change in floor elevation; there is no warning, and a trip-and-fall is possible. The first waitress comes over after we're seated; she looks like she had a rough day, judging by the leftover food on her black shirt. At least the table was clean and well-designed. Turning to the reviews, the highlighted items are fried chicken, country fried steak, and a few others. The menu offers some unexpected options, like crab-stuffed cod and beef bourguignon, demonstrating nice variety. We started by asking what their top-selling items were; they mentioned fried chicken and country-fried steak. Feeling adventurous, I chose the beef bourguignon, and my wife went with the crab-stuffed cod. We began with jalapeño poppers, which looked great when they arrived. Ignoring the caution, I took the first bite and immediately realized how hot they were, temperature-wise, as the filling blistered my mouth. The flavors were good, and the fresh jalapeño peppers were crunchy rather than soft. If this were an indication of how the rest of the meal is going to go, the "made fresh every day" motto displayed would be a treat. Well, except for setting caution aside for the hot items. Our dishes arrived, and the presentation was decent. My wife's dish looked good, but my beef bourguignon seemed very old and overdone. We said grace and started eating; well, so much for that "it's made fresh every day" motto. If mine were made fresh, the chef would likely have killed it twice. The chew of the first bite was so dry and long that it could have made Wrigley's gum proud. It took me back to my high school days when Hubba Bubba bubble gum first appeared. (Yes, I am that old.) I tried to push through it, hoping for a moist bite and those seasonal flavor notes; alas, they never came. The flavor profile was missing Rosemary and bold red-wine notes. Julia Child would be rolling over in her grave. I grabbed a piece of the cornbread that came with our selection to dip into Aujour. Well, you would have to question whether anyone tastes the items before serving them? A box of Jiffy Cornbread mix has more moisture and texture. It was something with the biscuits. There was still flour on the putter surface of the biscuits. Our server came by to check on us, and we didn't hold back our disappointment. She went to the kitchen, apparently took a piece, and confirmed it wasn't good. She then said she would comp the meal and offered to replace it with anything I wanted. Just then, my wife reacted after her second bite of the crab-stuffed codfish. It turns out she had a piece of crab shell lodged between her gums and a tooth, which was very painful--way worse than biting into a popcorn shell. Once it was removed, she managed to get a few more bites in before CRUNCH!!--another shell. By this point, the experience had fallen short of what we had seen in the reviews. The server returned and asked if we were interested in dessert. We agreed on a slice of Limoncello cake. When it arrived, it looked amazing again, but the first bite told the story. This was supposed to be Limoncello, and it was clear that the lemon had left the chat... I was thankful for the extra lemon I ordered for my sweet tea; once a squeeze of lemon juice was added, the chat was revived. Before completely passing judgment, we would like to experience breakfast. As much as the reviews raved about the menu items, I'll keep my opinion until then

Our server was kind, but not overly friendly (I don't want a performance, you know?). And our food came out maybe 10 minutes after we ordered. We were early enough to order the Sunrise Special and the egg portions seemed surprisingly large! The grits were lovely. The bacon was not the best, it's thin cut (reminiscent of microwave bacon) and I prefer it to be thick. I ordered the eggs Benedict and really enjoyed it. The hollandaise could have had a touch more seasoning, but the texture was great. I actually preferred the Canadian bacon that came on it than the regular bacon that came with the Sunrise Special. It was perfectly salty and crisp. Oh! And it came with crab meat on it which was a special twist I didn't expect but really appreciated. The potatoes are cut into large chunks, but they are well seasoned and cooked nicely. I can't stand when a potato is undercooked, but this place didn't have that problem. And the cherry on top was the water. Florida locals may not be bothered by the ocean-y taste that comes with their drinking water, but for our family it is something that's hard to get past. We were pleasantly surprised to find that this water tasted as if it was filtered and the ice is that soft kind that's pleasant to chew. This might seem like a silly thing to add, but it really stood out to me and I'm grateful for it.

When you see the daily specials on their menu, you know it's the real deal. Not only is there fried chicken and chicken n dumplings, but the vegetable sides include such grandma favorites as Jello with fruit and often several kinds of peas . . . and rutabagas, any time you actually can find rutabagas on a restaurant menu you know they're not playing around in the kitchen and they're catering to old timers who themselves know how to cook. I had chicken n dumplings with fried eggplant and cucumbers and onions salad as my sides and cornbread came along with the plate as well. Everything was delicious. The cucumbers tasted fresh from someone's garden--like they had that just-picked taste you don't normally encounter in restaurants at all. Service was fine, an older waitress who checked on me and kept the iced tea coming. The interior is comfy, old license plates on the wall, regulars greeting each other and coming over to each other's tables. But the food is what stands out: not at all fancy, indeed, it doesn't taste like restaurant food but literally like eating at a Southern friend's grandma's house and I don't believe there could be a higher recommendation than that.
