Breakfast will always, always be my favorite meal...any time of day! But if I'm being honest, I enjoy it most for lunch and supper. I mean who wants to eat a plate sized slice of country ham and a biscuit smothered in white/sausage gravy with a scrambled egg (or two) and some grits with cheese at 5 in the morning? Not to mention if there's a slice of toast (cut diagonally of course) and some fruit. Of course you have to wash all that goodness down with a minimum of 2 cups of coffee (whatever the level of quality of those beans) and maybe even some sweet tea just for good measure. See? I told you it's a lot to be consuming before the sun ever peaks over the horizon. And so recently I made my way to Sunrise at noon, having not been in a few years. Per usual the place was hoping and folks were waiting for a spot to open. Now I'll mention that if you are solo or maybe just two of you that the barstool seating opens up quickly. But at this point in life I need the back of a chair and some privacy so I can fully enjoy this goodness. But I digress. The table is self sufficient in that it has hot sauce, salt and pepper, Smucker's jams and apple butter, napkins, and menus. They will bring out creamer and butter with your order. The menu is straightforward, but fully customizable. You want fried apples instead of grits? Or bacon instead of ham? Just ask. And the team here are like the family members you actually like. You know, the nice ones who always give good birthday presents and a piece of candy when no one's looking. Now there are a couple of televisions on the walls, but if you position yourself intentionally you avoid seeing them (and the volume is off). Like all good diners, this place is a cornucopia of people. I loved the diversity, but especially seeing older adults at tables and young (to me) couples at other tables. It truly felt like a reunion of sorts. I look forward to returning much soon then before. I hope you'll do the same.

Augusta doesn't have a great breakfast scene. So, you're sort of limited by what's available. This being said, Sunrise has quickly become one of my regular spots. The décor and setup are really nothing special. It's just sort of big room in strip mall. But if you can get past this you'll be in for a treat. What stands out most to me is how fast the food comes out. Man, I put my order in, glance at my phone and before I know it my food is out. I absolutely love how quickly the wait staff and kitchen function. Every time I've been here they've been on their A-game. My only gripe, is that I have found all of the proteins I've tried (the bacon, ham, chicken friend steak, sirloin steak, ham and sausage) to be underwhelming. And don't get me wrong, they're fine. But simply don't stand out when compared to the other aspects of my plate. The potatoes, eggs and grits are just fantastic. And again, they show up super fast! Both prices and portion sizes are very reasonable. Pro tip, at the time of this writing, there is a 10% of coupon you can use if you check in on Yelp. My next goal is to show up for lunch and try out that menu. I'd strongly recommend swinging by and grabbing a bite if you're hungry in the AM. I'd suggest being cautious on Sunday. Either come before or after the church crowd to avoid the chaos. I'll continue to frequent this spot.

We enjoy this breakfast spot. Expect to wait but parking is easy. Servers are friendly and the food is decent. I've tried several items over multiple visits and enjoyed them all.

I've been coming to Sunrise for years and have used them for catering services as well. I've never had any issues with the food and the prices are great. Most of the time I do not have to wait when dining in but there have been a few times I had to wait. The service is good at times and depending on who you get, it's amazing. The atmosphere is laid back and never too energetic.

My pancakes and cornbeef hash was nasty I wouldn't recommend it, service was good but not the food

If you are looking for a great breakfast at an affordable price with good service this is the place. I had the corn beef hash with scrambled eggs and home fries with onions and jalapeños. It was hot and tasty. My waitress quickly took my drink order came back in a couple of minutes with it and took my order. Ten minutes later breakfast was served. The restaurant is in a strip mall so if you're looking for something special in appearance you'll be disappointed. It wasn't too busy at 7:00 AM but it wasn't slow either. I found everything neat and clean. If you sit in the front you can watch the cooks prepare your food. One of them was singing along to the radio, he had a decent voice too! The portions are large so make sure you bring your appetite. I had no complaints with my meal or the service or restaurant. I didn't get to try the pancakes but the looked and smelled great! My mom, sister, and I came here for brunch one morning and I have to say I was pretty impressed. I ordered some kind of spicy omelet and it was incredible! I loved it, and I had to fight my sister from stealing bites off my plate. My mom had sweet potato pancakes and if you like sweet things for breakfast I would recommend it because I was really incredible. Very fast and tasty! Giving 4 stars because the chef had some obnoxious rap music playing in the kitchen with lots of swearing in front of my 16 year old sister that I suspect he didn't think we could hear, but we could (we were sitting by the door to the front entrance so I suspect others could hear it to) but overall it was a great experience with awesome food. read more

The service...excellent!! Food....delicious!!!! Hot, fast, and fresh to order. I could not pay for the service and food I received today where I live in Texas. I will be back if ever in this area again. I recommend for the friendly vibe, pleasantly and overall home feel. It's in the strip mall, so don't overlook this diamond in the rough. Limited hours though, but breakfast menu to drool over as well as burgers. Breakfast is my favorite overall go to meal, and Sunrise Grill hit the spot....before I forget...the coffee is good too. read more

Love this place. The staff is excellent and if something is wrong with your food they fix it right away. I eat here every Friday with friends and have been doing so for years. Ate here for the first time this morning. Great breakfast. I had a continental omelette and added jalapeños and it was excellent. Had cheese grits and raisin toast also. My wife had a scrambled egg with Canadian Bacon and was very pleased as well. Very pleased with the service. Our waitress was very pleasant. A thumbs up. We will definitely be back. read more

Wish I could give 3.5 stars because I think it was better than 3 but didn't quite hit 4. We liked the food and the staff was friendly, but I don't think it will become our go-to breakfast spot. Pretty typical diner fare. I was disappointed when I ordered a fruit cup on the side for my kids and half of it was some sort of strawberry topping/filling; definitely would've preferred fresh fruit. read more

When I go here I like to bring my grandson. He is 3 and loves those sweet potato pancakes they have. I've tried them they are pretty good, but a little sweet for me. The grits are creamy and they have some of the best home fries I've ever had. I'm never disappointed by the service place is clean and the girls are nice. Good local spot. read more

bad customer services, there might have been a rat in my food. Idk, it wasn't actually my food. A friend told me that and I believe it. they are too shy to write a review themselves, and im honestly not sure they are telling me the truth here. Please don't get mad at me. We have eaten breakfast here several dozen times but today was a complete disappointment. We do not know if there is a new cook, but it was not very busy, so we would think the cook would not have been overwhelmed. We were in the restaurant with about 6 other people at the time. My wife ordered a hash & scrambled eggs breakfast with fries and rye toast, and I ordered a steak & sunny side up eggs breakfast with grits and rye toast. The hash was only lightly crusted on the outside and raw on the inside. The thin steak was ordered medium rare and it was cooked appropriately though it was the toughest steak I have ever tried to eat. If it was that tough medium rare, it would have been so much harder to eat cooked more. The grits were the standard fare, though with Helen, GA mill just a few miles upstate one would think they could order a more special grits with the germ and taste remaining in the ground corn, but with much seasoning the grits were palatable. With so few customers, one would think the server would come to assist us or to ask us if we needed something, or if everything was alright, but she did not not until we were leaving. We left a 33% tip and paid our ticket in full, though we mentioned the uncooked hash and the very tough steak. No offer was made to offer us a discount on our next meal, or anything. It may be some time before we return. read more

Food is maybe a step above Waffle House... my boyfriend and I were waiting to pay at the register and the hostess walked over and said "how many?" I said "oh, sorry we're waiting to pay." She responded, "well then don't stand there looking at me like you're waiting to be seated" and proceeded to roll her eyes and walk away. I don't get why this place is so popular. Service was great that's why it gets 2 stars but food was below average. I get the whole diner thing but I ordered the sweet potato pancakes w sunny side up eggs and home fries. Eggs were burnt, and being a fellow cook I know how hard it is to do but don't serve me burnt and overcooked eggs. Pancakes were decent but I've had better. And potatoes not seasoned except for with a butt load of paprika yuck. Will not be back. read more

I highly recommend the Morning Meditation (that turmeric/ginger kick is great) and my buddy got the infamous Purple Haze. A buddy of mine talks highly about it. The butterfly pea flower tea makes the Purple Haze look awesome, and it's actually really refreshing. Let's talk about their chocolate chip pancake! They aren't joking when they say "enormous." It was the size of the plate and loaded with chips perfect for the table to pick at. Now, I love eggs, so I had to get their Elevated Egg Sandwich. This was a hit. The combination of Gruyère, smashed avocado, and that brioche bun makes it way better than your standard breakfast sandwich. My buddy got the Eggs Benedict with Bob's Red Mill Red Grits, the Benedict was cooked perfectly with a great hollandaise, but the real star for me was the side of grits.
