I'm not one for 'bad reviews', but I have to call it like I see it. I'm not exaggerating for what I'm about to admit. If you're from out-of-town and on your way to the Creation Museum or visit the Ark Encounter in Petersburg, KY... *DO NOT STAY AT THE SUNRISE INN* 1. The rooms were filthy. There were mouse droppings along the baseboard behind the beds as well as hair, food and other small debris. Another guest admitted to me that her floors were so filthy it made the bottom of her new white socks completely dirty. 2. The pool was a lagoon. Green water with trash floating around. 3. Condemned building on premises. I'm sorry. I do not like this place. In my opinion, the entire establishment is well on its way to a non-repairable state as a result of neglect. read more

This not a Hilton, not a Hampton Inn, but it is a very clean older motel for an overnight stay. Staff was very helpful and nice. Bed was very comfortable to us and bathroom and room very clean. read more

Sunrise inn is most generally quiet. The Inn is of the older style or version. You have your very basics but not the latest and greatest. The NEW Staff seem friendly but not so very communicative to the visitors/customers during the stay unless you approach them first. The images online via their website are deceiving and they are not what you see once you get there. The inn has recently changed hands or gained new ownership. Hopefully the new owners will bring new light and upgrades to modern day accommodations. read more

An appropriate end to an otherwise day. Heading North out of West Carolina and never quite getting clear of the hills or the rain I was ready to quit after six hours. But the Commonwealth being what it is $50 rooms are hard to come by late at night (the state apparently goes to bed before the evening news.) In Kentucky six is a charm, lights and a body in the office of the Sunrise Inn!! I needed a bed and they had one. No frills, no pool, no miniature livestock, no problem! Floors are swept, walls are painted and intact, door locks, no stains on the sheets, and the plumbing plumbs. Breakfast voucher got a person choice of biscuits, gravy, sausage patties, breads for toasting + butter/jellies, sweet rolls, yogurts, hard boiled eggs, OJ, AJ, and coffee read more

I didn't realize that they allow pets here. I was allergic to something that had been in that room, and the pillows were the worst. Husband said they smelt weird, but I couldn't tell through the violent coughing and sneezing I was doing all night. I did eventually fall asleep, after spending some time shivering outside to catch my breath, no thanks to the incredibly uncomfortable mattress. Clearly their cleaning is not what it needs to be if my allergic reaction was as severe as it was in a room that should have been clean. We drove 8 hours home, returning at 3:am with two small children to avoid spending another night there. Upon our early checkout, no questions were asked about why we might be leaving, but it was made clear that we would receive no refund. read more

Customer Service was pleasant when checking in. Traveling through and needed somewhere after driving all night with a clean place to lay our heads and our puppy was allowed. Room was clean, beds were a little to firm for my liking. The area looks sketchy, with some abandoned buildings. But who's to say the hotel can control this. read more

This place is disgusting! The room floors were so dirty there was a pile of dirt, some medicine pill, straws etc all on the floor. Then I checked the bed and there was what looked to be a bugger! . We ran out of that place and stayed in Cincinnatii where there's a night life! read more

I would have to say, this place isn't a 4 or 5 star place to stay, when first going in room it had a strong smell of cleaners, there was body hair in shower, the door would not lock, the carpet was very dirty. This motel is just putting bandages on much needed fixes, the pool is not usable. Just 5 minutes down the road are all the nicer places to stay, I suggest it. read more

Houston! We have a problem! No frills, clean. across the street from The Ark, but at $115 plus tax, you don't get a bottle of water, the bag breakfast was an apple and small juice (yay) and a dry muffin, dry bagel with egg and sausage that you warm(just say no) and no privacy! Every time the guest next to me opened their door, it sounded like they were coming in my room. I was in a room that could be opened for adjoining rooms. The cracks between the door was so wide, I got to hear the guest snore all night as if he were in my bed! OMG! Miserable! I am just thankful he didn't sleep with his tv blaring! And those next door to me were probably miserable because I watched tv (on low volume) until 11. This is not right! read more

The owner(s) of this inn are really wonderful people. I prefer to speak to staff on the ground when booking a hotel or otherwise (as opposed to national call centers for some major chains). Their communication was fast, called me back within an hour of me leaving a message. They were very friendly, and explained things wonderfully over the phone. While I did not end up staying with them (last minute, friends let us stay in their RV on their driveway!), I will look forward to it if my family goes back to the Ark Encounter. They provide a pretty decent "breakfast in a bag" that includes a hot breakfast sandwich and fruit, customer service was a 10/10, I highly recommend this place. read more

The reason why we gave this hotel a 1 star is because the curtains did not close properly, the side laps don't turn on, the fridge was off, the remote did not work for the television, the hair dryer didn't work, and the key didn't work so we had to get it reprogrammed, the breakfast was only a cold breakfast. All they had were cereal and muffins. Now for the pro's, it was clean and quite. For the cost of $150 this was way below average. read more

A disgusting dump! The mold in our room was so bad that we slept half the night in our room. We were supposed to be there 3 nights and left after one night. Do not book a room here. The manager was nice enough but would not give us a refund on the other days. We ended up driving to florence the other days. This place is awful! We left and had bed bugs. I loved this place in Winter, a few minutes from Ark Encounter and 45 minutes from Creation Museum. Very clean place, helpful staff for a great price. The place is not totally updated but had hot water on the bathroom and heater working. The breakfast was included and was good, so that's a plus. Didn't have a phone or refrigerator, some rooms have it, but they have a phone number so you can call them from your phone. We asked them to bring new towels everyday and they did. If you're vacationing with your family it's a great place to stay and enjoy Kentucky. read more

I have to say, I'm confused by the previous reviews. To start, this is a roadside motel located off the expressway with little else around. If your expecting The Hampton experience, you should go a few more exits. That being said, my experience here was warm and welcoming. We arrived at 1:30am and the gentleman (I think his name was Keith) was in the lobby awake and very polite considering the hour. He set us up in the cotton room which was newly renovated. Again, not Hampton quality, but still a very nicely decorated room with decent beds and pillows, and VERY clean. In the morning, the young lady checking us out was very polite and offered us to stay for some complimentary biscuits n gravy, but we declined the offer. We didn't do much else other than sleep here for a few hours as we were driving 500 miles the next morning, so I can't rate the food or any amenities, but the staff was very accommodating and the quality of the room was acceptable. If I were ever in the area again and needed a place to stay, I would give this place another chance to show me what else they have to offer. read more

We planned all year for a weekend getaway to Williams town KY to experience the Ark Encounter. & made reservations for July 2017. Upon arrival they had to Change our room twice. 1st room had no hot water., 2 nd room there was evidence of bedbug's . I asked for the owner and a man named Doug said he was in charged. After offering us another room we had enough and demanded a full refund and was told all reservations were Final. We immediately found another hotel in Williams town. I had to contact American express and dispute the charges of which was recredited to my account. Never stay at this dump. First of all, I think the price is too high for the motel. Good location from the Ark Encounter which was the main reason for selecting this one. The room was not clean. There was hair in the sink, the floor had not been swept and it was filthy, we had to kill spiders and there was a used dry bath cloth on the shower rod. We were praying there were no bed bugs. The lady that checked us in was super nice. She also provided some first aid items after a fall away from the motel. When checking out I mentioned the uncleanliness of the room. However, the lady checking me out barely acknowledged me and said nothing regarding the room. I had been waiting for a while when she finally came from the back. We checked out early because we needed to resume our schedule. I have to say the water was nice and hot, good shower head and descent bed. If I am ever in Williamstown again I will not stay here. One of the worst hotels I've ever stayed in. Price was outrageous for what we got. Online it said prices were about $114. When I got there I used military discount and the total was still about $126. Outrageous!! Online it also says a complimentary hot breakfast... there was only cereal, a gallon of milk to share with other guests and some bread for the toaster and a few wrapped baked goods? Not really a hot breakfast. We ended up leaving and eating somewhere for breakfast we were so disappointed. Everyone online gave this place a high rating. This place is not worth your time. The cost of this place doesn't reflect quality at all considering its close to The Ark Encounter, so with the attention that they get from there it shouldn't be a problem with upgrades they can establish. The person behind the counter was very unprofessional when checking us in, giving us the wrong key to an occupied room. They give us adjoining room to people who were loud and smoking, resulting in the smell coming into our room during the night. Beds were hard. Wallpaper peeling off the wall. Breakfast wasn't any biscuits and gravy there, instead bare minimum. The outside pool was disgusting, which is surprising with temperatures being very high in the month of July. With the cost they are charging, you are better off going the distance. read more

This isn't your typical fancy hotel. But, it had everything we needed. It had a small town feel. We rented two rooms an they were very clean. The staff was very nice and they serve a very nice breakfast in the morning included with our stay. It included a variety of hot breakfast food. It also included WIFI. It is walking distance to Noah's Ark and that's what we wanted. I would recommend it. read more

I booked three nights with a king size bed. When I arrived I noticed there was no where to put my clothes, no phone, the towels was as hard as a rock, the toilet and tub leaked. All the plugs would not hold your items, I had to unplug the refrigerator to use a plug for my phone. They said my room was renovated. The breakfast was a joke, cereal, bread, muffins and a bowl of apples. Nothing like the picture! The bed was hard, even after adjusting it. It was not worth the $105.00 per night and I left after two days. The pictures are deceiving. Positive, nice staff, close to the ARK but not walking distance, they tell you they have a shuttle bus but you have to walk at least a half a mile to the ticket area where it picks you up at, since it was raining we drove. Our family went to both Creation Museum and then the Ark Encounter. Instead of driving back home we decided to get a place for the night and head home in the morning, BIG MISTAKE!!!! We had two rooms, when we went in, one room smelt musky, very stained up flooring, patched up ceilings, bugs in tub, not a pleasant place to stay. The other room had stained up carpet and not real clean, patched up ceilings, no functioning light in the bathroom so you could not close the door. I told my husband to call them...oh wait there is no phone! We went down to tell them the lights didn't work and she said well we don't have maintenance but I'll come and check it. She did come in our room and flipped the lights on and said yes it doesn't work. Maybe leave the switch on and maybe they will come on eventually. We asked for another room and she said they did not have another room they were all filled up. I did hear her tell a lady that came in after us that she had only one room left so I did believe her. I asked for a discounted price then and she told me that she already put a note for them to give us an adjustment on our account in the morning. When checking out in the morning, I asked about it and the lady told me we can't do that, you already stayed and you should of told us about your bathroom lights not working. I informed her that we did and she came and checked it out and said she would credit our account some and this lady said well I can't do anything about that, you should have asked for another room, I said we did but you were full and didn't have another room for us and her reply was yes we did, we had plenty availability. This place is NOT worth the $113. That they charge, it's not of that quality!!! It's unreal that on top of it, they straight up lie to you! Unbelievable!!! Save yourself the headache and sleepless night, you would be better off sleeping in your vehicle! read more

Undoubtedly the worse hotel I have ever stayed in. The pics on the website look nothing like the actual rooms. We arrived after a 6 hour drive and were disgusted by the appearance of the room. The room smelled musky and immediately we noticed multiple places with exposed wiring. The sheetrock had a large square cut out of it making us wonder if someone might use that access to enter our room at night. The bathroom was missing a lightbulb. The front door was ragged looking and hard to close. We immediately checked the bed and found it to be clean. DAT travel service helped us acquire a room so we could visit The Ark Encounter. I am appauled that a travel service would partner with this type of facility and promote their facility to unknowing travelers. read more

The hotel is easy to find. The personnel are so very, very friendly and helpful. The one thing we found is that even near the freeway, we closed to door to the room and everything was quiet. The two beds we used. My bed was so very comfy. My husband's was a little too hard. The TV was turned up to the max for volume and it was hard to hear. The breakfast was exactly what we needed to start our trip. And, they are just down the street from the Ark Encounter. Which we took in after checking out of the hotel. We definitely recommend staying at this hotel and would love to come back. read more

We would not stay here again....paint coming off on door. Large patched place on one wall, another wall has a hole over which a board has been nailed ...2 nails...which are lose and when we returned tonite it was partly open! Who knows what's In the hole, paint coming off door, large poorly patched place on another wall, 2 outlets where cords fall out. Bed not very comfortable, mattress feels worn out. Good things: room is clean, plenty hot water and close to Ark Encounter which we came to see and free continental breakfast. But for over $100 a night we are not pleased. ETA My husband just complained and we have been moved to another room....much nicer..same board covering something but this one seems secure. Only thing, the tv doesn't work. Hope to get it fixed tomorrow as we have one more night here. ETA again - they brought in another TV and it works fine except we had to cover it at night because it remains lit even when turned off. But I will add another star for moving us to this room and giving us another TV, however the second bed is not much better than the one in the other room. The AC works well though and since I need cool air flowing all the time, I liked that.:) read more

Gee whiz....thought we could trust the reviews and amenities posted. Nope. We arrived after a long day's drive with our very patient grandson. Promises of a "pool" light and airy rooms. Nope! Upon checking in our reserved room was no longer 89. But 136. and No Pool . The young fella barely 16 said it was under construction, upon inspection my husband found the pool half filled and full of algae...yuck! Not under construction and not the beautiful pool in the adverts. We signed in a mistake, opened the door and were met by a terribly sagging ceiling over one of the beds. We were exhausted but afraid that the ceiling would fall down injuring whoever was sleeping under it. My husband went back to the front desk to get our money back. The young man complied and admitted that the pool was not undergoing repairs but stated he didn't know what else to say. Please don't waste your time and money booking here. It is all FALSE advertising!!! read more
