After looking at a few cars outside we went in to speak numbers. He asked us for our email, address, number and a bunch of other stuff to which we said no. We can give you the zip and that's it. Car dealers don't need to have all your personal info for numbers. They don't even need your name. Because we said no the sales person said "well I can't help you". You're there to sell cars and you turn your customers away. Okay so we asked to speak to a manager, but they were taking too long. Probably didn't care. So we left went next door to Acura much better service and went to another Volkswagen dealer in bayside. We ended up going. With bayside. A+++ for Sunrise Volkswagen, and for Randy. My husband and I had a really great experience getting out of our lease early and going into a new one. From the start, Randy was patient and gave me time to think, I went in with a lot of doubts, but at no point did I feel any pressure something that's rare when dealing with getting a new car. Randy was straight forward, we told him our budget and our old lease situation and Randy made it all work . He also explained every part of the car with ease. Sunrise VW also handled our early trade-in without any hassle, which made everything that much smoother. Overall, it felt more like being helped than being "sold to." There is one word to describe this dealership. DECEITFUL. There are a few other words that come to mind like they lied, unprofessional business practices and fraud. I had been there twice before in the last year and they had been very nice and I thought honest. They notified me of a recall that I didn't know about my airbags and fixed it on my 2015 TDI Beetle. That was a good catch! This time was the opposite experience. After coming in for an oil change,and thankfully notifying me of an expiration of the inspection in a few days and doing their "9 point" inspection of the car. I was then handed a $4,300. bill for suggested repair / maintenance. Worse off, and main reason for this review, is that my car failed the inspection for "safety reasons" since my tires were had "splitting" in several places. Coincidentally they were running a tire sale this week, how convenient! I asked to look at the tires and they showed me some minor splits in the rubber. As I waited, I did some research on the DMV website to see if this was a reason to fail an inspection. I showed them this info. and it was completely ignored by 3 of the employees and managers. BE FOREWARNED, you can only fail an inspection if the tread is VERY worn out (not in my case) or if there is basically gashes of inch or greater, exposing the inner tire. NONE of this was on my tire. I asked to speak to the manager and the general manager, who of course colluded in a lie along with each other and despite showing them the DMV info. REFUSED to pass my inspection, despite having the info. in my hand! They took off the inspection cost off my bill, to save their butt and have no record of failing. End of the story, I didn't pay anything close to 4K and bought the $13. key battery and I'm off to my honest mechanic in Five towns for the next repair. NEGATIVE 1 million stars DO NOT BUY A VOLKSWAGEN. And if you absolutely must, DO NOT BUY OR SERVICE IT at Sunrise Volkswagen in Lynbrook, NY. This is, hands down, one of the worst dealership experiences I've ever had. I brought in my 2020 VW Atlas with only 40,000 miles because the A/C stopped blowing cold air, especially from the rear vents. I have a Drive Easy Platinum extended warranty, so I called ahead and was told to bring it in on Monday at 9AM. I rented a car out-of-pocket based on their estimate that the service would take 2-3 days. Three days later -- no diagnosis. No progress. No urgency. Just excuses. When I asked about extending my rental, Anthony DiMartino, the Service Advisor, actually said: "Did you buy the car from us? Because if you did, we could give you a loaner. But because you didn't, we're not going to give you one." That's right -- because I bought my VW at another official Volkswagen dealership during COVID, I was being punished and denied a loaner. And when I asked what to do next, he said: "Maybe extend the rental until Tuesday or Wednesday... and pray the repair isn't more than $1,000, because if it is, VW will need to send someone here to verify it and that'll take even longer." Even worse, Anthony told me they already checked for leaks and everything was fine. But when I spoke to Justin, the technician -- the only person there who was actually helpful -- he told me they hadn't run any tests. All he did was turn on the A/C and feel the air. The staff don't communicate, and the customer pays the price. And if that wasn't bad enough, Anthony also said: "Volkswagen dealerships are like McDonald's franchises. Each one does their own thing. It's up to us." Translation: Volkswagen has no control over how their dealerships treat people. Each one gets to make their own rules and give you a completely different experience -- and if you didn't buy from them, expect second-class treatment. Just to confirm how broken the system is, I called Volkswagen Corporate, and their response was even worse: "Volkswagen dealerships are independently owned. We can't control how they operate or treat customers. We can send your complaint to the dealership, but that's all." So basically, Volkswagen doesn't care. Your warranty is handled by a third-party company (Drive Easy). The dealers do whatever they want. The brand takes zero accountability. This is a $50,000 car with 40K miles and a top-tier extended warranty, and I was still treated like an inconvenience. If Sunrise Volkswagen in Lynbrook were the last dealership on Earth, I'd rather ride a bicycle. read more

I called Sunrise Volkswagen in Lynbrook, NY at 9:08 a.m. today regarding a potential oil leak I noticed under my car. I simply asked if, in the event my car needed to be kept, a loaner would be available. Instead of addressing the situation, I was asked if I purchased my car from them. When I said "no," I was told they only provide loaners to customers who bought their vehicles there. This is an incredibly petty and short-sighted policy. As a local resident, I find it unacceptable to treat potential customers as less important just because they didn't buy their car at your dealership. We've bought 4 cars from this stealer-ship owned by the Burns Motor Group in the last 15 years. NEVER AGAIN, NOT EVEN FOR SERVICE. Day 2 the sunroof leaked. It took 3 attempts and 48 days to repair it and other defects and issues. They tore the car apart to repair it. We couldn't cancel the deal or get a replacement car. The service manager at the time tried to help us to no avail and the General Manager never called us back. The service over the years has been awful. Most recently the rack and pinion steering failed and they quoted us $4,500 to replace it. We verbally authorized the repair over the phone but the next morning we canceled it when we found another mechanic that could do it for $2,500. Sunrise VW was marking up the parts over 30% and the labor 600%. They were also charging over double going rate for the alignment and the calibration. THIS IS PRICE GOUGING. When we went to pick up the vehicle they wanted the full $250 diagnostic fee plus an additional 20% ($500) "re-stocking" fee for the parts that hadn't even arrived yet. We never signed any agreement or were informed of any penalties for canceling the service/repair verbally or in writing. The refused to give us our car back without paying the penalty and the diagnostic fee. We paid it, and are disputing it. THIS IS EXTORTION Even with the $500 penalty we had to pay we are saving money with another reputable mechanic. Sunrise VW also recently raised their diagnostic fees over 50% recently from $160 to $250. They failed to diagnose this problem when I first brought it to them last year so we technically paid the diagnostic fee twice.... The service manager, Demilion McCarthy also threatened to lien the car if are credit card was declined upon paying. It wasn't...... Made an appointment here to have my VW serviced for the first time, and wanted to get a full VW once over since I have a warranty. . I walked in and was greeted by someone who was sitting behind the desk. She said I needed to wait for a service advisor. 15 mins later I'm still standing there. She goes to get someone and tells me they will be here shortly. 10 more minutes later someone finally comes up. Instead of apologizing for making me stand around waiting she says to Me, did you get the slip from the valet? I said no I didn't know I needed one. She said well get that and come back. I made an appointment four days prior to the scheduled appointment in person. I asked what was needed by me to have the service completed, this was however a insurance claim, so I asked what exactly is required. I can't speak for the service department, but I can speak specifically for Gerry. I was trading in my GTI for a newer model and wound up going with a 2021 Jetta SE. Unlike my last dealership experience (at another VW dealership), Gerry made everything as painless as possible. He didn't lowball my trade-in value, it was on par with KBB from the get go. Similarly, he didn't take a long time calculating the lease values. He didn't do that oh-so-obnoxious "I need to ask my manager, he's never approved something this good before!" b.s. which was SO refreshing. Everything was straightforward, fair, and as much of a pleasure as shopping for a car could be. He was even very understanding when I needed to wait for the DMV to resend my title. I made this account specifically tonpost this. The service department is categorically and grotesquely unprofessional. The service manager actively tried to antagonize me after his department belligerently refused to actually help me. When I demanded to have my car back he spitefully tried to hold the car until a service advisor came back from break. No, you're not allowed to hold someone's vehicle against their will. I'd rather travel to queens than come back to this service department. I will not even consider buying a volkswagen again. We made a deal and I was waiting for a call back from him when the car would be ready. I called and left a message for him to call back but never heard back from him. Then I noticed that he wrote on contract 2020 model and when I questioned him, he said I was giving you a better deal. He was nasty and unprofessional and got very loud. I told him forget it. Service Department is horrible starting with the valet parkers that they request to park your car before going to meet a representative. Deny any repairs and bring them to your local repair shop for a second opinion. Do not let them do maintenance on your car. They recommend repairs that are not needed and charge ridiculous amounts of money. read more

Terrible customer service. The sales agent I spoke with on the phone told me to come in on a Sat. afternoon. I waited an hour and a half. Yes, an hour and a half. Not once did he come over to me and apologize for keeping me waiting. Just ignored me. I only waited because I've been a VW customer for years and really wanted to drive off with a new VW as my lease is nearly over. But even after a sales agent (the agent I had an appointment with still never apologized) finally helped me it didn't matter what I was offered. I was not giving them my business. It was an easy sale - a customer looking for their third VW. Told them no thanks, called business manager the next day to request the deposit refunded, got voice mail which I left and also sent an email. Called about a dozen times and only got the five hundred dollar deposit refunded three weeks later when I went down to the dealership and made a loud scene. I brought my car here for an oil change and a check engine light, what I got was a bunch of shady "needed repairs" and 2 inquiries about trading in my car to buy a new one. The first list they gave me included $5000 in repairs but when I was not pleased at the price I was informed they could "cut corners" and it would be $2500. I said I wanted a second opinion and came to take the car, I was asked if I was interested in trading in the car and buying a new one. I was also called 2 days later and asked to trade in the car again. I took my car to another mechanic and he confirmed my suspicion that they were just trying to get my car. This rating is based on the sales department only. I went in here to get some prices on a 2014 Jetta and a 2014 Passat. I had leased a Jetta which was soon coming to an end so I wanted to go in to see the types of loyalty pricing I could get to determine if I would stick with Volkswagen. Upon entering, I walked around the showroom to see the cars and wait for someone to come to me. After a few minutes of waiting, I proceeded to the information desk to ask to speak to a salesmen. I was then greeted by Joseph Benjamin. I told him exactly what I was looking for in terms of the vehicle. I told him I needed specific figures in regards to pricing, such as the: MSRP, Selling Point, Money Factor, and the Residual on the Vehicle. After telling him this, he said the finance manager would have to give him these figures because he was unsure. Then he proceeded to patronize me by telling me, "I don't know why people ask for the money factor, what do you need it for. We figure everything out for you". Well anyway who actually knows how to calculate a lease figure knows you need the money factor! Either Joe doesn't even know how to do it or he was trying to make me feel like the fool...honestly, I think it is a little of both. As the conversation went on, he continued to try and "sell" me the vehicle. I didn't need this as I just was getting out of a Volkswagen. I know the quality, I have the experience with the car. I just wanted 2 quotes with all of the figures I asked for. Upon returning with a monthly quote for the Volkswagen, Joe did not have any of the other figures I asked for. When I called him on that, he said they do not give those out. I told him that in that case I don't do business and started to get up. He then said let me go back and see. He returned, not confident, with what sounded like a made up figure. At this point, I thanked him for his time and left. I went to another Volkswagen dealer that showed me their figures and fact form, including all the numbers I needed so I decided to go with them. Overall, my experience with Joe was not good. I felt like he was trying to play me for a fool. He wasn't knowledgeable on the financial aspects of leasing, but yet he was giving me a quote that was "reasonable" and "great". Stay away! read more

The customer service in that department is in need of an in-service training of how to handle customers, how to deescalate situation and not fuel the fire. Secretary's need to have an in service of how to answer a phone. They don't ever call you back when they say they will call you.
