A serendipitous find! My aunt recommended a visit to Sunriver as a great family vacation destination. She was so right. And she even came up from Eugene area with her hubby and grandson to meet up with our family group. We were able to each rent right-sized condos within two minutes walking distance of each other. That enabled sharing of dishes to concoct a family reunion pot luck dinner the last night of our stay. Our place came with bikes in the garage - a score for the kids! They spent most of the time off on the multitude of bike paths throughout the resort. Most are shielded from car / truck traffic, so it was a safe and fun option for the boys. We had three bedrooms, two bathrooms, a full kitchen, and a hot tub on the deck to enjoy. Also featured a laundry closet, which we put to good use! Cabin chic decor was in keeping with the pines and woodsy area. The owners have it stocked with books and games. Thought there was a TV, it was better to relax as unplugged as possible. The SHARC water park was a big hit. On our arrival night, they had a free concert in the park adjacent to the water rides and pools. Dear Hubby even wants to look into buying a place there. That's saying something. Not sure I could handle the cold winters, but it was great in the summer time! Some of the restaurants weren't "all that", but we didn't take time to Yelp ahead of our drop ins - shame on us. As a Southern Californian, it's a long way to get to Sunriver, but it was worth the journey for the pleasure of being there. Next time we'd want to stay longer. read more

We stopped by here just to use their bike path with our young kids. And it was such an amazing time. First off, it's beautiful - flat path along the pristine river. Looking forward to LEAVING. The room was dirty when we checked in. The tub had black stuff all over it. The napkin holder on the vanity had 3-4 months of dust. The sinks and vanity had never been cleaned from the previous guests. The top sheet of the bed had not been changed. We asked the front desk to clean our room and they indicated that you had to stay for 5 nights to get housekeeping to clean the room. The food we had for breakfast was awful. On a good point the owl's nest had great food. We have been coming to this resort over 35 years!! We will use a vrbo when we return. It's too bad that the resort has gone downhill to this level. read more

First time staying at Sunriver. When we checked in to our condo at tennis village, we found the place infested with large carpenter ants. When we called the front desk and spoke with Merissa, she wasn't willing to move us to another unit. Apparently she didn't care we were upset and concerned the kids would be bitten or just uncomfortable. Besides the large ant infestation the unit was in poor shape. I've been coming to Sunriver every year since I was a child in the 1990s. What I have noticed over the years is prices keep going up but quality of rentals stays the same and more often than not the quality goes down. This most recent trip we decided to stay at the lodge in a room with a view and kitchenette. The positives are the unit had two bathrooms, was updated compared to the older units and did have a wonderful view on the mountain. Unfortunately there were a ton of negatives about our stay though. We arrived at 4:05 with a truck loaded with stuff including bikes and luggage, electronics and personal items. Our room was not ready. They told us to grab dinner and they'd text when our room was done. We were not comfortable leaving everything in our truck bed for anyone to grab so instead we sat in the parking lot and waited.... And waited... no text. At 6pm I went back to the front desk and was told the room "had been ready for some time" - it sure would've be nice to get a call or text as promised so we could have started our vacation instead of listening to our kids cry about being stuck in a parking lot. Upon entry to the room it was obvious the cleaning services were severely lacking. There was food in the kitchen sink. The dishwasher was running - so I guess I get to empty the last guests dirty dishes? The windows looking out at the back deck were covered in grimy handprints and smears of liquid. The sofa had trails of food, the table was sticky and the bathroom trashcan had chewing gum, chewed and hardened stuck to the lid. We paid almost $700/ night to walk into a space and then have to clean it. I wiped everything down with Lysol's wipes so we could feel comfortable staying. After 2 hours in a parking lot the last thing I wanted to was to wait for housekeeping to come back. That night I showered and while standing in the steam I noticed a message on the glass door of the shower. Previous guest had drawn a message in steam and housekeeping clearly didn't clean the shower between guests, because there it was written on the wall. A recommendation for the lodge is to add screens to the door so you can get fresh air breeze without getting mosquitos and bugs in your room. Given we were traveling during a Covid peak it's nice to get some ventilation in a room someone else just checked out of. The cleanliness issues did not stop in our room. The Cove pool was so gross. The tables that are attached to every lounge chair have remnants of food and beverages caked to them. Every morning we got to the pool when it opened and I cleaned yesterdays mess off of 4 chairs for our family. The womens bathroom had paper towels and pool towels all over the floor every day, for hours on end. A resort charging this much money for a weekday stay should properly clean facilities. The pool is also way too small for the numbers of guests allowed to use it - it's not just for lodge guests, anyone renting a condo or townhome or house through Sunriver can also use the pool. There are hours in the day where you cannot put your legs or arms out without touching a stranger. The cabanas are large but I watched them clean between guests (morning reservations Vs afternoon reservations) and they clean nothing, they just walk through, open the curtain and pick up dirty dishes. They don't wipe anything down or clean the pads on the furniture. I won't let this trip spoil my view of Sunriver in general because I have way too many fond memories of the place. I will not ever pay these prices again. They are fully taking advantage of customers who believe they will get what they pay for; you won't, you will get a poorly run hotel that is dirty and be charged like you're staying a 5 star resort. Walking away from a vacation feeling you were just scammed is not pleasant and I hope you avoid our experience. read more

The views are stunning. The location is just gorgeous. The Cove is a great place to go swimming with the family, and the hot tub is wonderful. The hot tubs on site outside are awesome. The rooms themselves are fantastic! There are different ones to choose from, and we've stayed in a few and loved them all, including one suite that happily slept all 7 of us. There's a restaurant that admittedly we didn't go to (assuming it would be out of our price range). But there are many places to eat nearby. There's a Keurig in each room. Lots of stuff nearby to do. You can text any questions to the front desk. EVERY FRONT DESK PERSON I TALKED TO WAS AWESOME. So why 4 stars instead of 5? 1. The resort fee. They don't tell you about it until you physically walk in and that sucks. Kind of like a bait and switch. And 2. HOW CAN YOU BE A RESORT AND STILL SUPPLY ONLY ONE PLY TOILET PAPER?! that's a hill I'm willing to die on folks. I'll go back, I'm sure. Rented kayaks from the marina for a 6-mile float down the Duchutes River. The initial rental process was time consuming as no one answers the phone, but refers you to email them with questions and to complete the rental process. The day of, was an absolute day in heaven. There were quite a few people on the water, however you were not crowed, we each had our own little piece of heaven with the blue skies above. It took about 2 1/2 hours from start to finish, and I can't say enough about the view from the water and how peaceful this morning/afternoon was. We will definitely be back. The price for non-resort guests is a bit higher, but they do offer a military discount for those with military ID. Also an appreciated plus. read more

Sadly , our first visit to Sunriver resort was not what we thought it would be. We were there for a Porsche Treffen Event 9-14 to 9-18. When we arrived and checked in our room , the carpets were stained and there were previous pet markings that were never taken care of. When I went to wipe the tile entry , there was dirt and debris . For the nightly rate , it was not worth it . Our breakfast and dinners were catered by Sunriver. Every meal we had was horrible. It was either undercooked , overcooked or cold. Sunriver has a reputation of being a luxury resort . Not so much. I do not know if we will ever stay there again :( I want to add that there was also an advertised special online for room rates and it was not honored read more

Great views but that's where it ends. We sat outside there's heaters but no propane to be found. The food was awful and overpriced. We added chicken to a pasta salad that cost over $30 and I swear it was Costco rotisserie chicken, but dry. Not a grilled breast as you would expect again on a $30 salad. One of the worst steaks I've ever had. The potato side and broccolini were not seasoned. Some of the broccolini was undercooked. The clam chowder was not clam chowder it was clam soup with potatoes and cream. Again no seasoning to be had anywhere there was no salt and pepper on our table I had to ask for it. Everything we asked for took at least 5 to 10 minutes to get. Drinks took over 20 minutes. I'm sad to say I cannot recommend this restaurant to anyone, not even somebody I don't like. read more

We stayed tucked away in the lodge suites but it was still taken. The Sunriver staff was more than kind and so was the local police department. I have a reservation coming up on August 30, 2021. I called to cancel my reservation this morning due to all of the fires that surround the resort. 30 miles from the resort is part of the evacuation zone. I was told I could only cancel my reservation and get a refund if all of the roads were closed into the resort. I'm just curious if this resort cares about the safety of its people or it is obviously more about the money? If you look on a fire map currently there are fires to the north south east and west of Sunriver resort. The potential for a fire to move is terrifying. In late August we booked three days at a condo at the resort, expecting a wonderful experience. I realize the resort has no control over the weather/smoke, but a fire kept growing the closer we got to the date. We called on our way, as the smoke just kept getting worse as we got closer. We asked if we could please get our stay refunded (the Air Quality was registering at 165!). We were told no. We could get the stay postponed, but we would only have until the end of the calendar year to use the credit. As we live 8 hours away, and this had been planned as a one-time thing, that was not going to work. When we arrived, the smoke was thick, and there was no way we could be outside for any length of time. We drove over to the main resort, and spoke to the concierge. We asked for recommendations for things to do, inside, as we clearly could not be outside. After thinking for a bit, she suggested a museum, and a nature center. She also added a "paint your own pottery" store to the list. That was it, and NONE of it was at the resort. The next morning we spoke to her again, and expressed our displeasure. She suggested we call Alyssa Greene, who is the Reservation Sales Manager. I did, and left a message. I also wrote a long email. We were there Sept. 13-15, and I still have not heard anything. I don't believe I ever will. They had our money, so NBD for them. Big deal for us. read more

I love staying here, they have great accommodations and great views of Sunriver. We have stayed here many times when we didn't end up staying in a rental property. Years ago my Cousin had her wedding here during the Month of December. It was one of the most beautiful weddings, and I would recommend it to people wanting a December venue. Room was great....quiet the whole stay. Upon check-in, we were charged extra....then charged again after check-out for fees they still can't explain. The restaurant is in serious trouble. Sunriver is absolutely beautiful and I think this resort would be perfect if you had children or a large group coming. The setup here is that you rent a house and then you can use some of the common amenities. The property was difficult to get around by driving with directions being a little tough. A lot of people actually use bikes to get around the property which I think would be a lot easier. The pools were always absolutely packed which made relaxing by the pool tough but again if you're bringing children it would be perfect. read more

Stay was in July of 2021 - Perhaps it is still the effect of Covid or lack of good management however our stay was riddled with mishaps. Dinner our first night was a combination of poorly timed serving, serving entrees without flatware and then not receiving an ordered beverage until after eating the meal. The server was very apologetic however that does not make up for a less then ideal experience. The following morning out breakfast reservation was lost. Validated my phone log that i did make the call, had the name of the person that took the call. Nothing translated to a reservation. Now to the room. On the small side, however the view made up for that. Walls are thin and so we enjoyed the screaming child 2 units away in the evening and morning. The property is well outfitted and has great views. This was our first visit and based on description and cost, expectations were very high. As we arrived, we were very excited. The property was beautiful and the cabin we rented looked great outside. It wasn't long before the excitement transitioned into frustration. We toured the cabin and began noticing things weren't just as they were made out to be. The cabin instructions clearly stated that at the end of our stay, it would be our responsibility to empty trashes, yet ours were not. It also stated we would need to load and run the dishwasher, however multiple glasses in our cabinets were left with lipstick stains. Moving on, we got to the back patio. There was a great fire pit we were very eager to enjoy. Upon inspection we found it was gas, yet there appeared no way to ignite it. There was also no set of instructions anywhere inside or outside the cabin. This led to my first phone call to the designated number that Sunriver had listed. The phone number listed stated "for any help throughout your stay please call". I was greeted by a female voice who said "Sunriver Resort how can I be of assistance" I clearly answered "Hello my name is John Doe (matches the reservation), I am staying in ## Caldera Cabin ( identifies exactly where I am staying), we have a problem with our fire pit and would like to get some help." To which the employee responds "ok where are you staying" so I repeat myself. Followed next by "oh i have no idea how those work, it's not my department." I thought perhaps I made an error in dialing so I ask "I'm very sorry about that. What is your department?" The employee responds "well I'm in customer service." I'm very confused at this point and searching for words I kind of mutter "Well I'm a customer who is inquiring about a problem I am currently experiencing, may I have service?" To this the employee says " I mean, I COULD call maintenance for you, is that what you want?" Now as my head literally explodes the employee asks a third time "what cabin are you in?" This interaction sums up the majority of our stay at Sunriver. I lost count of the amount of times my questions were answered with "I don't know" or " that's not my job". This holds true from customer service, restaurants, pool staff, pro shop employees, and so on. What's really sad is this was for my wife's 40th B-day. I think we both would have had a better experience at the 3 star hotel down the road! I brought all of the above mentioned to the attention of Resort management. Husband and I were blessed to spend three nights here over here just before Christmas. We'd never been here before, and were absolutely stunned by the beauty of all the lighting. Inside, we were greeted by friendly staff and more beautiful decorations, including a huge carved bear in the lobby, and an enormous display of gingerbread houses. The young woman who helped us was very efficient and knowledgeable and made us feel very welcome. She gave us accurate directions to the unit we were staying in, which was a cabin-type building with four or five other units in it. It looked out onto a frozen lake, a meadow, and Mt Bachelor. There was a fireplace in the room, which was wonderful. We requested a microwave for our room, and it arrived promptly. Our room was clean and comfortable, and everything was extremely clean. We took the shuttle back to the lodge for dinner, and the shuttle driver was friendly and took good care of us. This is the first time we've ever stayed at such an upscale place, and we certainly weren't disappointed. The resort was a perfect wintertime getaway. read more

Beautiful place but rather busy if you are looking for a quiet relaxing vacation. Lots of families so, if you are empty nesters probably not the place for you. Jam packed pools set up nicely for kids not really for adults. We had a "condo" but it is just a loft two bed bedroom, very small kitchen, tiny fridge, sleeper couch and two small full bathrooms. Hard to imagine a family size meal being prepared. The cost in July was $600 per night-so not a great value. Felt a bit ripped off. But the place is packed, so the new Trump economy must be working. We had an awesome time over NYE! We had 10 people in our party... 4 adults and 6 kids (under 10) plus our dog! We stayed in a lodge suite at the resort with an adjoining room. It was a blast! The amenities were great! I love that we could bring the dog. We went snowshoeing, saw the holiday light show, did the kids scavenger hunt, ate at the restaurant for the New Years' day brunch.. but most of all the kids loved the COVE indoor pool. It was a gorgeous 3 night stay at sunriver, the cabin was beautiful and service was amazing. when I checked in they noticed it was my birthday, and later sent an a delivery to my door with a hand written card and small chocolate package, it was very thoughtful and tasted amazing! the lodge itself is ABSOLUTELY GORGEOUS. unfortunately the time that we went, the was no snow, all the caves and hikes are down, and you need an all wheel drive vehicle to access most of the adventure, but we improvised and had out own fun the bike trail was AMAZING as well, best bike trail ever! It's great in the summer and if anyone gives you a hard time in the boat you can always swim back to the resort through the three to five foot deep water. Our 1st night here, not sure how we can trust the cleanliness of the place when the sofa bed looks like this when opened! Never, ever, saw something like this in a hotel! Too late at night to make a big fuss about it, called the front desk, they made excuses about how cleaning crew not available, and here I am in my long postponed vacation due to Covid, seating on a chair, with no place to sleep, after we paid plenty for this room. Seriously, due the times we are living in right now, when everyone is freaked out about staying away from germs, this is not acceptable! We've stayed at the Sunriver Resort many times - but after our Labor Day weekend trip, I am finally getting around to writing a review. Before we took our four year old to the resort, I would have rated our stays (in all sorts of accommodations - from house rentals to the lodge) as a 3.5 star experience. After having spent a weekend with our daughter - I rate the Sunriver Resort a solid 5 stars. The resort is the PERFECT family vacation and get-away. It offers everything you need to enjoy recreation, relaxation and just good old-fashioned family time. Let me expand - For recreation: The river is just an awesome experience. Rent a canoe and paddle the 6-miles down the Deschutes River to the pick-up location. Take in a pony or horseback ride. Go for a run, bike ride or pleasant walk on the miles-and-miles of car-less trails. Finally, if you are a golfer or a tennis player - there are plenty of options. I am not even mentioning the winter recreational activities that abound. For relaxation: The pools are the perfect oases. The main pool (under renovation with a plan for completion in May of 2015) offers spectacular views of Mt. Bachelor and the lower volcanic range. The outdoor Owl's Nest pub is a great place for a summer libation and some bar food. In the winter - there are snow treks, carriage rides, and great access to the mountain. Finally, for family fun: Nothing beats just hanging out together. The pools are great places to meet other families with small kids. There are a number places to play family games (bocce ball, miniature golf, lawn darts, etc.) and just hang out together. There is a new watermark - SHARC. It is a great, clean place for spending time with 10,000 people in a rather contained location. Although that statement comes across as rather crass - the SHARC watermark is a grey place for a few hours of family fun. Be careful, it can be quite cool in the afternoons of late August - and it can be unpleasant to go between pools. Plan accordingly. A trip over to the resort is a great way to download and relax. One word of caution - layers. Yes, bring layers. The Central Oregon high desert can be very cool (well, downright cold) at night. Bring clothing you can layer and plan for 35-degree (F) nights in late August. read more

This was my second visit and I have to admit I was really impressed. It was a complete 180 from our first experience! So much so that we ended up extending our visit another night. And I appreciate that we were accommodated so that we could stay in the same room while extending our stay. The room was pristine, the staff was attentive, and our service in all of the restaurants was excellent. Our server at the Tavern (Graham) was exceptional too! We also received excellent service in the gift shop. I'm really happy to have stayed at Sun River again. I was apprehensive after the last stay, but I'm really happy that the staff reached out and we gave it another shot. It seemed like a busy week as there was at least one professional group I saw, a wedding being set up, and it was the end of the summer, but everything was just lovely. We definitely felt valued and pampered during our stay and I really look forward to returning. During my last visit I felt dismissed by the staff, but this time I felt valued. The resort did not ever request an updated review after contacting me, but instead they treated me with class on my return, and that's all I really wanted. Sun River is a lovely property, and a good getaway. That's why I chose it in the first place. I like to go and settle in. It certainly lived up to my original expectations during this visit. Honestly , I've stayed in hostels that are cleaner than this. First impression, the grounds are grand and seemingly well manicured but once we checked into our room we were quickly brought to reality...I've never in my life seen carpet this disgusting, as my mother would say: filthy-dirty. It looks as though they re-purposed it from a trailer park. The throw pillows are equally unclean so I asked room service to remove them entirely. The sad thing is that I was guided to this room by the receptionist when booking. I specifically said to her: the reviews for this place are not very kind, I'm a little concerned. and she reassured me over and over that this place was top notch. I've stayed at AAA 5-diamond hotels to hostels so I have a bit of knowledge on range. It's dirty, outdated, and to top it off, the staff could care less. Not impressed at all. read more

This is my 5th trip to the Bend area and second time at Sunriver Resort. The Resort is exactly what I expected. It is well maintained and clean. The activities are wonderful. The hiking and biking trails are easy to follow and fun to travel on. You can park the car and get around easily. The staff at every facility has been friendly and helpful. I think the part I am enjoying the most is the sound of families laughing and spending time together. I thought there may be a lot of woo-hooing going on, (as there are lots of rentals) but everyone is respectful of the quiet. read more

An I got charged $16 for a drink I didn't order. After I told the server how bad the mash was. I'm sad. An still hungry. Not satisfied. I paid a lot to stay here on an off season. Who's the manager? Sunriver Resort - S'mores hot cocoa - Resorts Near Me - Sunriver, Oregon

I stayed at this resort this past weekend and we had an issue with our reservations which they offered a meal voucher for 2 main dishes & an appetizer. So we had our dinner & gave our waiter the voucher. He said we were all set so we left. A couple days later when we checked out, they ended up chargers us a meal from the voucher. The waiter never asked for our room number so the only way this could've happened was for him to go to the front desk and ask what room the people of color were staying in. I cannot tell you how offended I am. If there was an issue with the voucher it should've been addressed at the table. Absolutely nothing was done to remove this dinner charge and after complaining and speaking to several people we still were charged. While waiting we could over hear the front desk waiving a nights stay off of another guests charge because she lost a diamond ring (which she found) and spent the day looking for it so she wanted to be accommodated because she didn't get to enjoy the resort. Which they did. I cannot tell you have different we were treated versus the white lady. I feel completely discriminated against and offended. This place definitely needs to have better training in customer services. I will never be going here again. Did I also mention this was on my birthday. So disappointed. read more
