I had been thinking about solar for a long time. I was tired of high electrical bills. one day I ran into a young man at store who just moved to the desert and started talking about electrical bills . this young man told me he just had Sunrun put a solar on his house and he was very happy with them. A few days later I saw their Kiosk at Costco which made me think if Costco is trusting this company maybe I should consider contacting them. I met with Edgurd Javier ( Field Solar Consultant) from sun run . Edgurd answered all my questions , I told him I had talked to other solar companies before but I was not sure about them ,also I told him I read some great reviews about Sunrun but also some bad ones. He assured me that the bad ones mostly had to do with other circumstances nothing to do with the Sunrun itself ,mostly due to city permits and the electrical companies ( which is what the reviews talked about). Edgurd assured me he would be with me through the whole process . Edgurd is a very nice smart young man. he explained the whole process step by step. I have to say I was very comfortable when I signed up with Sunrun. everything Edgud said and promised he delivered . he would answer my call all the time any time of the day or night . he would keep checking with me with every step of the way. Everybody I met or dealt with from Sunrun was amazing . from the people on the phone or the the ones who came to check the roof or install the panels . even after everything was done. Sunrun sent a young man "Joshua " who came to check the final work and wait for Edison inspector. I am extremely happy with Sunrun . I totally believe it was a good decision to go with this company , totally recommend it to anyone who is considering solar. We are having Sunrun install solar power for a second time. Chris Kimmes was outstanding in helping us with our first installation. We were apprehensive about getting a system. He was very knowledgeable and proffessional. Chris explained the system in great detail and answered all of our questions thoroughly. He made sure we totally understood all of our options and the pro and cons. After answering all of our questions, we comfortable that we were making the best choice of us. The installation went off without a hitch. Sunrun has an outstanding installation process for you to follow along so you know exactly where things are in the installation and activation activity. They notify you when each step is complete. During a heavy rain, after the panels were installed, our roof began leaking. The Sunrun people came out immediately in the rain and fixed the leak. We were concerned since we bought and owned the system that there would be issues. There were NO hassels, NO extra charges! We always felt very comfortable to call Sunrun when we had questions even after the system was in operation. Chris has always been available to contact and would follow up periodically on how it was going. We had such a good experience with Sunrun that when we moved and bought our new home, we called Sunrun. Chris came out and helped us with a quote. Sunrun is in the process of installing a system in our new home. The Sunrun people are very professional, polite, easy to deal with and talk to. For those who are looking to get solars installed, PLEASE DO NOT HIRE SUN RUN! The entire company is a mess! They did not install the underlayment and the tiles back on properly which lead to a leak. The leak caused a lot of water damages to our home in various areas to the point where the bathroom ceiling collapsed! I had to pay out of pocket for an emergency tarp (which btw is not cheap!) because we could not get in contact with Sun Run! It's been almost 3 months and we still have not had any repairs done even when an inspector finally came out and had admit fault! We can barely get anyone to pick up our phone calls or even call us back when we leave them voicemails. We write emails to them daily and still barely any help except that "they are working on it and they are escalating the matter..." Our case has been shuffled back and forth between different Sun Run employees/case managers and they either don't know what is going on or say the "case manager is out of the office and will return our phone calls," but obviously they do not call back! We have documentation on everything and have photos as proof. We even hire a lawyer write up a demand letter to fix the repairs and it was sent to their legal counsel, and yet NOTHING! I feel like I've exhausted so many avenues and nothing has been working. I want to make sure no one else has to go through the same situation as us! AVOID SUN RUN AT ALL COSTS! read more

My Sunrun solar system was installed almost two years ago. Honestly, I should have written this review sooner but all I can say is that I've been very happy with my system and Sunrun. The process, from initially inquiring with the sales rep, designing the system, to system installation, and finally the system going live went very smoothly. I'm very happy with the whole process and would recommend Sunrun to anyone considering a solar system. So far I have had one maintenance call when a panel went out and Sunrun promptly came out and fixed the panel. Was very happy with the quick response. The Sales Rep was Greg Muender. He was extremely helpful and very professional. After I decided to go with Sunrun he remained in contact with me to make sure the process was going well. I have still remained in contact with to this day and he doesn't hesitate to reply when I contact him. On installation day...the Foreman, Daniel Monroy, explained how the whole installation process would go. He described where he was thinking of running the conduit and wanted to make sure I was okay with everything. I requested a few changes and he didn't hesitate to accommodate the changes. **SATISFIED CUSTOMER-AMAZING EXPERINCE WITH SUNRUN** I decided to go solar when my SCE bill spiked in February. I spoke to Chris Kimmes, Senior Regional Consultant at SUNRUN regarding the procedures, amount of solar panels that are needed and how much we would be saving. He was very knowledgeable and answered all my questions and concerns. From the time I signed the contract with SUNRUN, I received a phone call from Genevieve, Project Coordiantor, about the design, HOA Approval Request, building permit and the installation expectation. Once we received the permit approval, I received a phone call phone Ainsley to schedule the installation. A few days later, William and his team showed up to install 20 panels and an inverter, which only took 5 hours to complete. A few days later, Alex, SUNRUN Electrician came to inspect the installation with the county inspector. Prior to their departure I was notified that we have passed the inspection. Two days after that I received Permission to Operate (PTO) from SCE. Within 10 days, my solar panels produced enough energy to cover my monthly usage. I happened to be shopping at the Costco store in Palm Desert and stopped to talk to Caitlyn Kern, Solar Consultant for Sunrun Solar. After a brief discussion we set an appointment and met at our house to discuss possible solar options. She presented options for a system and was very knowledgeable about all aspects of residential solar systems. We decided to move forward with Sunrun since it appeared best for what we were looking for and particularly because they were partnering with Costco. Caitlyn not only proved to be knowledgeable about solar benefits but was very patient in answering all our questions. She set the right tone in dealing with us since we don't work well with hard-sell consultants. Dealing with Caitlyn and the entire Sunrun staff turned out to be a very positive experience for us. If I could give this company zero stars, I would. To clarify, I did NOT originally sign up with Sun Run for solar, we were SunCrest solar customers but Sun Run bought them out. After 3 weeks attempting to get the information to buy out of of the solar lease, the company is still unable to answer the simplest of questions: How much will this cost? Customer service reps are polite, but clueless and higher ups are constantly "not at their desk". Apparently, my account has made it to the supervisor, but I have yet to hear from her after 2 weeks straight of emails and phone calls. This is unacceptable and everyone involved in this transaction will never recommend Sun Run ever again; realtors, lenders, escrow companies, and all of the families involved are blown away by the lack of professionalism by this company. I had solar panels installed about a year ago using sun run. After contacting them, they sent out Edgurd Javier, his number is (805) 709-5843, to consult on the process. He thoroughly explained the option and had a team survey the house to draw up a proposal for installations. Once I decided to go forward they were quick to start the process of getting it approved. It did take awhile for the whole process to be complete but that was due to slow downs with approval from County and the electric company. Once completed the system has worked as advertised. I had asked for a system that would generate at 110% of usage and every month I generate more than I use. We chose Sunrun because we know that Costco selects only top-notch contractors to work for them and because we believed that Costco would be around to honor the warrantees if we had problems. When we started working with Sunrun, we were not let down on our expectations. They were extremely organized, very friendly and responsive and worked efficiently through the process of obtaining the permits, installing the system and getting the inspections completed. We recently decided to join the Solar Energy parade by having panels installed on our roof. We were contacted by Edgurd Javier to work with us to fill our need for electricity. I am in the solar industry and went solar with sunrun on 2 different homes i own. There are many cheaper options out there, but the risk does not outweigh the savings. I like the assurance and professional quality sunrun provides. On my primary residence I wanted to own it, and on my rental property I did a PPA (some call this a lease). I did a PPA on my rental because it needed a battery and the maintenance/warranties are better with a PPA, its also easier to sell a home with solar on it. all better things for my rental. Simply, the only reason i did ownership on my residence is because it didnt need a battery. read more

Purchased a house that already had a solar system from sunrun purchased through Costco. So disappointed! Talk about no service after the sale - this is exactly that. Customer care is who they will refer you to, but they were horrible now and 2 years ago. I am going to let costco know how poor their vendor treats its customers, but for those of you in the market for solar, do not think a big name is the best way to go just because they may be around in ten years.
