I do not recommend anyone going with sun run. It's been a very disappointing process from the get go. They have the worst customer service. I've been trying to figure out for the last two weeks where we are in the process and haven't heard back from anyone. I'm going on four months on paying my solar loan and still paying Edison. The fact that Costco promotes this company is terrible. I figured they were a safe bet if they were associated with Cost, however, I was very wrong. We just went through the process of getting our solar panels installed by Sunrun. This was an unbelievably easy and organized process. From our first appointment with Earle informing us what would suit our needs the best, to the installation of panels with Steven and his crew. It was virtually hands off for us. Sunrun did everything. We only had to be home to give them access. They gave us a CAD layout for our approval, then Sunrun submitted to the city for permit. All along the way, they were giving us email updates of where we were in the process. Everyone has been helpful, friendly and courteous. Thank you Sunrun for a job well done!! read more

Sunrun did finally reach out to me in this forum. However my review is still the same and I would give 0 stars if it was an option. Even though they agree that I was mislead their only resolution is a 1 time credit of $150. This is their exact reply "I listened to the call and I can understand why you were lead to believe the system would produce 46,000+ kWh in a single year. The agent was discussing the Performance Guarantee output for year 4 of the system. "The kWh of this year [year 4], I mean the output that the panels must produce is more or less 46,164 kWh." We have reached out to the supervisor of the agent to provide 1x1 training when discussing this type of information to customers." I replied and asked for the panels to be removed or more added to cover the usage I was told. Their reply was "I'm sorry I could not get approval for more than a 1 month credit, I honestly wish I could have provided more. We would want to wait for your family to live in the home for 1 full year before adding more panels to the home. This would allow us to size the system to your specifications to ensure you're not paying more than you need. Once you've been in the home for 1 full year, please call our Solar Advisor Line at (844)-321-6937 to receive that quote. " Stay far away from Sunrun at all cost. Todd Payne, from Sunrun reached out to me, and after the promising me the moon, I signed a contract. The primary reason I signed up, was the upcoming changes to Net Metering. The salesman spent hours telling me I needed to sign up now before Net Metering went to 3.0. The contracts were signed april 1st 2023, 3 weeks prior to the law change. So, a week after contracts are all signed, Sunrun goes dark ! They won't respond to texts, emails or phone calls. So, last week, after 5 months of ignoring me, I get an email offering me $3000 to restart the process...? Restart ? When did we stop ? So, for 5 months I've kept access to the property available for the installation, waiting for the installers to call, but that never took place.. Come to find out they never even turned in my paperwork to SCE, for Nem approvals. I selected the highest priced supplier because he assured me it would be Nem 2.0, if I signed hurried up and signed today. Bad plan, Bad Vendor, All Lies... Now I have a $71,000 contract to try and get out of.... If you don't know about Net Metering, It's the rules that apply to determine how much SCE will pay for excess Electricity you produce. I wish I could give SunRun ZERO stars! If you're considering solar, I do not recommend these guys. Our panels quit working in February 2019. Sunrun was quick to send out a tech to verify that our panels were not working. They told us that they would have to replace the system. I've have been calling them since May 2019 to find out when they will be replaced because no one had called or emailed to give me an update. I keep getting told to just wait and/or contact our local service guy, Ian. Ian never replies to emails or calls back. I've only spoken to him once and that was only after I contacted corporate. He told me it's would be a little while because of the paperwork involved and because their warehouse did not have the capacity to store so many panels at one time... I don't understand how they can install a new system right away for new customers, but can't replace panels as quickly for existing customers. It is now January 2020 and I still do not know when we will have our system replaced. It's been almost a year, with not a single update and I'm still stuck paying for a broken system. I had talked to two other solar companies and it just didn't seam like a good fit. Too expensive, no control over the energy and no (or very expensive) battery backup. My monthly SCE bill was averaging over $220.00 per month and only going up due to TOU billing, so something had to be done. I meet with Edgurd Javier and he explained the Sunrun system in great detail. He was able to answer all question I had. He explained how the system is designed to power the house directly from the solar array, store power to the battery, sell off what I don't need to SCE and purchase what extra I may need at the lowest price. People this is a SMART SYSTEM. Dealing with the Sunrun staff was honestly what you expect to get from all home vendors, but rarely ever see. The roof inspector was on time and completed the work quickly. The crew that re-directed my vent pipes worked their butts off in 100 degree heat for hours. The panel install crew was amazing. They showed up on time and kept working, again in 100 degree heat, until all 25 panels were on the roof and the system was up and running. The entire process from the first meeting with Edgurd until the install team completed their work took less than 3 months. And a month of that was due to my HOA dragging their feet. I've honestly never had a better experience with a home improvement vendor. They dealt with my HOA, they filed for the city permits, they meet with the city inspectors, they filed everything with SCE and they were a pleasure to deal with. I would give this company negative stars if I could. Ou experience with them started about 12 years ago. At the time we had solar panels installed and signed on as a lease. They double charged me for the installation and it took months to resolve the issue. After a couple of years, during a heavy rain, we got a drip coming through the roof. We called in a roofer who told us that when the panels were installed the installers did not seal off where they had drilled into our roof. Sunrun denied any culpability. A few years later, the system stopped working. As we were on a lease, it was up to Sunrun to fix it. What they didn't say was how long it would take. Several months and hundreds of phone calls later, it was finally fixed. Now, the law was changing. In the past we could not generate more than (I believe) 80% of our power, but now, for a limited time, we could generate the full amount. A salesman, who claimed to be from Sunrun, came out and sold us on having more panels installed. Foolish us, we agreed. The panels were installed early in March. It is now late July and they still are not working. In addition, the manufacturer of the panels placed a mechanics lien on our property as Sunrun had not paid them for the products. Every time I called I got a different story from a different person. It seems there are several companies involved with this: Sunrun, Green Day Solar (installer), Solar Pros (another installer), One Source (provider of panels), and the salesman (no one seems to acknowledge that he works for them). The bill has finally been paid and the mechanics lien lifted, but the panels still are pending inspection. I would never recommend this company to any one. read more

I still do not have a working solar system. I have now paid 2 months of loan payments as well as electrical payments. Sales Representative lied to both my wife and I. He promised up to $5,000 in repairs and that was due to the fact that we were aware that repairs needed to be made. He promised they would be taken care of. They have not. Logistics Prior to installation were good. I was aware of the time and day of installation and communication was very good. I even took the day off work because "Someone needed to be home" to run the lines through the attic. The first installation team was horrible. I told them that I had the day off, so they could run the lines through the attic. They told me that the company does not do that anymore (which I later found out wasn't true due to numerous customer service calls). They punched a hole through my wall into my sons room, and then sunrun didnt send out a repair team for exactly 59 days (during that time, we had numerous rainstorms and the room basically flooded a few times. The repair team they sent didnt even cut out the wet dry wall, nor care about the mildew smell coming from the damp carpet. They just patched up the wall and painted. Can you say mold? Anyway, back to the first install crew. One of the guys pooped in a bucket and then dumped it into my neighbors trash can. While my neighbor watched. And hes a Highway Patrol Officer. He wasnt very happy, and had plenty to tell me about how "I hired a very unprofessional company" and other crazy environmental laws that sunrun had broken. The conduit they ran down the side of my house is very crooked. They later "fixed" it by painting it to match the house so it was less noticeable. Its very much still crooked though (and if they would have ran the lines in the attic like they were supposed to, it would have been non-existent). The next day I had no power to half my house. Sunrun sent out someone that day to check, and they had found that the install crew had left some things unattached in the breaker box. After power was back on, some of the promised fixes (mentioned earlier by the sales representative) were still not working. Sunrun sent out a licensed electrician (apparently the only licensed person to step on my property) and he found the problem pretty quickly. However, he did not fix it as it was a "pre-existing condition." Uhh, yeah, it is. This is the same problem we showed our sales person who promised that it would be fixed. It still hasnt been fixed. The second install crew that came to clean up the first crews mess was much better. Later, after the second crew had finished, we failed inspection because my panel was not permitted (I understand that this is not sunruns fault). We had just bought the house and the old owners did an upgrade without pulling a permit. So I went to city hall, pulled an owner/builder permit and got it inspected. It failed the inspection, can you guess why? The breaker that sunrun added to my panel was not U/L compatible with my panel. Also, the cover would not close without moving live wires because the thick PV lines that sunrun installed were not properly routed. A quick call to sunrun and I was told "We do not work on unpermitted panels. Get it permitted, then we can come out." To recap: They broke two electrical laws in my panel, which caused my panel to fail the permit inspection. They told me they would not fix the problems, that they made, because my panel was not permitted. A full days labor to an electrician and the cost of the permit came to just under $1000. Which I had to pay out of pocket for this "no out of pocket" solar system. But I did it anyway, because at this point I was paying both my electric bill and my solar loan. Finally my inspections all passed, and I was given the green light to power up. After numerous phone calls and emails, my system still does not work. It gets a 3x6E about 10 minutes after each restart. Its a communication error, and Ive noticed that each time i go to reset it, the breaker in the battery box had flipped itself to off. Sunrun called me yesterday to tell me that it isnt a problem on their end, its on the electrical companies end. Even though the problem is with the battery that they installed. They even tried to cancel a standing appointment to get it fixed! No I will not recommend the group of liars calling themselves "sunrun." read more

We decided to purchase the panels and barely did anything as the Sunrun team took the lead and handled it from start to finish. They got the permits, contacted Edison and handled the installation smoothly. They even put the panels in earlier than originally promised. We happened to be out of town but they coordinated with my Mom and installed while we were gone. We were kept informed all through the process as to where we were and how long it would take. I have had 3 homes with solar, and two were great. Sunrun/Vivint has terrible customer service, awful troubleshooting and my 36 solar panels have not produced the promised power since September. I have call their customer service group MULTIPLE times and there has been a case open since september. They simply REFUSE to put a supervisor on the phone and cannot seem to get a technician out that can get the panels to work correctly after NUMEROUS trips onto my roof. This is a large system that should produce 40KWH/day and it's producing less than 2 KWH/day. There is a case opened since September, but the "Case manager" replies to my email after about a month (this itself is inexplicable) and will not call me back. Vivint blames sunrun and sunrun blames vivint and noone is fixing anything. I've spoken to a technician and Enphase who told me this system hasn't EVER worked correctly since being installed in 2016. Now that you have this information SUNRUN, will someone, anyone step up and call me? It's actually hard to believe that Costco would allow a BS company like this to partner with them. I see many other people saying the same thing. Take the shitty panels off my roof and go away. I cannot tell how how mad I am about this company and the horrible customer service and performance. Our next step is to talk to a lawyer to find out where we stand legally since Sunrun isn't holding up their end and providing us service. We purchased a home and moved into our home in Aug 3, 2019 11426 Chinaberry Street Corona CA 92883 with existing paid solar panels for 14 years only to be greeted with a 2400 dollars bill no one couldn't explained. We call numerous time telling the customer service representatives and supervisors too that something is not working. Their is no way we generated a bill this high something is wrong and malfunctioning. Instead of listening to us and sending someone out they kept blowing us off with different excuses our computers doesn't show that. Year 2 another high bill 2500 with get a call stating out inverter is not working. We will be compensated for our panels not working. It took 3 1/2 months for them to replace it. Which we have been asking and pleading for a service call numerous times since 2019 . Every customer service representative says something different and don't return calls even though they say someone will be calling you. It makes me feel like they are stealing from me and my family. They don't stand behind they products our rectify the problem with their solar panels. We been calling and complaining, and telling tell the whole time since we moved in our home. We even brought more panels from Sunrun had them installed finally in Sept 2021 more panels on our home. I wouldn't recommend Sunrun Solar panels to anyone. Now we have 2 sets of panels. Went to refinance my house 2 years after paying it off. I have a lien on my house which is absurd since I paid it off. My refinance agent looked into it and said I dont own my panels. Sunrun is claiming they still own them. You cannot reach anyone in their customer service department probably because their service is terrible. The solar system sucks, The customer service is awful and they just give you excuses and appologies but no resolution to your problem. But they will remind you when you ask for the system to be removed, your locked in to your contract and quickly tell you, you will still have to pay them based on your previous usage amount until your contract ends! I have had Sunrun Vivint Solar for 5yrs now and have never been happy with them its been nothing but problems. This company I wouldn't recommend to no one! I had them install solar on my house and the installers did a very bad job. First they did not install the panels according to the plans and after they were done they had to move some panels. While installing the panels the installers broke 12 tiles and after a couple of rains the ceiling in my dining room got wet from the roof leaking and it took almost a year for them to totally fix the problem they said. Still 4 years later I am finding broke tiles and one they replaced not installed correctly. After calling them again they are being difficult about sending someone out. Edgurd explained every detail for us to understand with no problem. We met Edgurd through a good friend of ours who had recently purchased with Sunrun through Costco and Edgurd was highly recommended for our big investment. After calling Edgurd we met that same day and were on our journey to some huge energy savings! I can't thank him enough, his whole crew was very friendly and on time with the whole process. When we spoke to the sales rep we expressed concerns about the ratings on Yelp and the better business bureau. The sales rep told us that things had improved because they were using a sub contractor for the installation instead of sunrun doing it themselves. On June 17th we had solar panels installed through a sub contractor, called Bright solar, that Sunrun uses. Almost 3 1/2 weeks after install we still had no contact. I called Bright solar. It took 3 days of phone calls to finally get them out here to upgrade the electrical panel that they should have done the day of install. I let the sales rep of Sunrun know what was going on. They did get out 4 days later To upgrade it. A week later, July 22, still no appointment set for the city inspection. I then called Sunrun and spoke to the Kent, a supervisor. Initially he didn't want to take any responsibility for the installers. I quickly reminded him that THEY hired the installers and the contract that we have is with sunrun And it is a reflection on their company. I have been going back and forth with my Sunrun sales rep trying to get an appointment set for a final inspection and all I keep getting is excuses. Today, August 4, I called Sunrun again and tried to speak to Kent, he didn't even take my call. The sales rep on the phone told me that Kent had stated that since I don't have a case # I need to file one with their customer service. If that was the case, why didn't he say that when I spoke to him the last time. And, he didn't have the common decency to speak to me. I just want my solar panels running and producing. I have an email stating that it could take up to 3 weeks after install from Bright solar yet here we are at 2 months. My neighbor had her panels installed by a different company 1 1/2 weeks after we did. She already had her final inspection and just received a letter stating that she is ready to start producing. We don't even have a final inspection. I have already filed a grievance with the Better Business Bureau and will be calling their corporate office, as well as Costco, tomorrow. read more

After buying our first home and having our firsts baby, I was floored by how expensive Edison is even to be sweating in our home. I was frustrated that I couldn't rate shop so when a friend mentioned that he worked for Sunrun I was interested. I shopped all the top brands and it was embarrassing the way they threw money around which made me seriously doubt the validity of their proposals. I signed with Greg and he made sure the design was as low key as possible in the front of my house. My neighbors even commented on how nice it looked! It turns out going solar was the best thing I could have done for my family. I was laid off for 2016 and on a strict budget. I had a fixed payment which was way lower than what I paid Edison, and we were able to keep the house very comfortable all day long.
