I've been to suns quite a few times over the years being from Long Island. This is my honest review. I'll start with the pros: - enormous selection of styles & colors especially cat eye, chrome, and ombré; honestly unmatched - easy to book an appointment day of - a lot of technicians available - beautiful interior Now for the cons: - inconsistent pricing and lack of transparency; some styles will be marked '60' which will be the total price while others are marked '65+' which means add 65 to the manicure price of 35 even though both styles are very similar - technicians will up charge your pedicure by casually asking if you want calluses removed without telling you that's extra - not all technicians are experienced or good. Many times I've gotten someone that has to consult 3 other people on how to apply a style. On some unfortunate occasions I've gotten cut on multiple fingers and had to request someone else do my nails - what you see on the display and what you get often times will be different. Today they literally couldn't get anywhere close to the display nail I asked for. I really try not to be difficult but I could not justify paying $95 on a gel manicure that is nowhere close to the style they literally advertise themself. I had to switch to a simpler style Ok so given all these cons why do I come back? Well, I know I'll most likely leave with a beautiful set. I'm a big cat eye fan and I have not found a place that has as much cat eye as they do. But honestly, it's so stressful how inconsistent the pricing and technicians are. I got a beautiful set today but the experience was not relaxing at all lol. 3 different people had to attempt to give me what I asked for in their display (ombré cat eye). Would I recommend suns to a friend? No. Would I come back? After today I really am not sure :/ read more

My daughter went there with a group yesterday for a birthday. She and another friend who was also brown was seated last of there group. If you know they are both with the same group why not seat them all together when available? Most importantly they were playing a quiet hand game. To pass the time away and was told to be quiet and stop being loud. So this establishment is obviously prejudice. There were two caucasian teen speaking LOUD!!!! and nothing was said to them. Hmm I wonder why. ABSOLUTELY DISGUSTING BEHAVIOR. I will make sure to never come here nor have my child subjected to this kind of treatment ever again. And thank you to the good samaritan who stepped up for both my child and her friend and made the employee apologize to them. read more

Over the years, I've been to many nail salons. I have to say that Sun Nails is probably one of the best, if not the best one I've been to. My nail tech, Fiona is a true professional and truly cares about her work. My nails not only last between fill-ins but look almost as good as they day they were done. I must say, I have been quite spoiled and have no desire or intention of ever leaving her. read more

This location is a like a factory but they do have some great technicians. I really liked Maggie! My issue is that the pricing is very inconsistent & sometimes there are a swarm of techs having a conversation over your body as you get your nails done. If you are in a jam, I would recommend this place. It is easy to get an appointment & parking is ample. PLEASE NOTE : The business is in the back of the building so you will not see it from the street. Building has New York Face Place upstairs, with a large sign on the side of the building. I never leave reviews but somebody has to know how unprofessional and unsanitary this place is. I got a full set for 120 dollars and in 5 days.... One fell off, and another got an infection! After dealing with that mess I called and the woman who I believe is the manager said she needed to "see my nails" because I requested a refund. I didn't even ask for a full refund after an infected nail that she saw because she was making such a big deal about the refund itself !! She was extremely rude and sat around huffing and puffing and told me she didn't know how to open the register. (You're the owner or manager. Come on now..) she finally decided magically she knew how and would only give me half of the refund. She kept grabbing my hands and saying "we'll take the rest off now sit sit" almost pushing me to a chair in which I said I'm never letting anyone touch my hands again here (also how are you not apologizing once this entire time?) and I literally had to walk away and leave so she would stop touching my hands with an infected finger!! Not a very clean nail salon. The lady that did my nails was talking about me to her staff in her language and they were all staring at me which was very uncomfortable. Stared at me till the time I was stepping out the door. She left the tissue paper on my feet and let me leave with it. I still tipped her regardless of all that and she didn't even say thank you? So I moved away but work in the area and I had tried several other nail places closer to home always leaving disappointed with one thing or another. After a third attempt somewhere else, I decided to make the time after work to come back to suns and I am so happy I did because my nails once again look amazing. I also discovered that they had updated their space and it looks amazing! I always try to see Fiona for my nails when I can get an appointment with her and when I do I always get compliments on how perfect my nails look! Wasn't able to see her for my pedicure this time but I saw Bella and she gave me the most relaxing and amazing pedicure that has lasted. Honestly any time I've not made an appointment in advance and just seen whoever is available Ive always been pleased with my nails. They look great and last! I never write bad reviews but honestly i had to write one after what i experienced today. I don't know how this place is so busy but it's definitely a hit or miss. I went in today and Jenny was my nail tech, she did such a messy horrible job. I came home and I was shocked how bad my nails look in the natural light!! While she was doing my nails I told her to cut my cuticle's 3/4 times but for some reason she wasn't cutting them?? So I just didn't mention it again. She proceeded to shave down my nails with the drill, she went over my skin and gave me a cut then blamed it on "oh your skin is sensitive" BESIDES all of that she did a terrible job with my nails they look hideous, not cleaned properly, chunky, uneven. I don't know how they are running this business. It's totally all about the money and not service because paying 110 dollars for these nails is not right. There's a nail salon opening infront of them. Can't wait to not give Sun Nails no more chances. Lost a loyal customer. read more

The first time I came, my boyfriend and I got subpar pedicures (still had rough heels) but my ombré manicure came out really nice. Came again today to try and get the ombré in a different color, the nail tech (different one from the last time) had no idea what she was doing. I could sense it from the minute she started and I asked her to try it on one nail first before proceeding with the entire hand. My tingly senses were right, I asked her to take it off and just do a regular, all white manicure. I also got an underarm wax today and it was like nothing I've had before. I had deodorant on (as anyone would) and she just wiped it with a dry paper towel, no spraying it off or anything of the sort. She ended up having to pluck so many hairs that it was pointless in getting a wax. When she got to my other arm, SHE USED THE SAME, ALREADY USED WAX PAPER. I'm not talking about the unused side of the paper, the same side of the paper with all the wax and removed hair from my previous arm. And not to mention she didn't even clean my underarm properly (again). The only saving grace about this place is the first manicure I had which I wish I had remembered the nail techs name. There are plenty of other nail/wax places nearby. I suggest going somewhere with better wax practices. read more

Went here last week for a fill in. All my nails started lifting after only 5 days. I went back so they can fix it. They insisted that the same incompetent woman would fix them after I asked for another lady. Later that afternoon, I noticed she did not fix them properly because I noticed 2 nails were lifting again. They are the most expensive in the area and I wouldn't mind paying more for an excellent job. But to charge more for a shotty job is wrong. read more

i am visiting in the area & went to 2 other nails salons but they were both super busy. so Sun's nail spa was close and we went there. right away the woman was very eager to get us in a chair so i was glad there was no wait. it was nice inside and other people were there getting nails done too. i chose a chrome style and said wanted a full set. usually when i get my nails done they do the acrylic and then gel polish. no one even asked and she proceeded to do what i believe is the next gen method. the gel burned under the UV super bad i had to keep pulling my hands out. the nail tech told me if it's my first time doing it this way it will hurt. but again i would've liked to have been asked at least. the sessions ended with a short hand massage and also a shoulder rub which i wasn't expecting. it came out to $110 and i'm not from the area but i never in my life paid that much for a regular chrome set. i don't even get very long nails. where i am from the most i paid for chrome was around $65 so i was shocked but i asked no questions and paid the $110 and tipped $20. i won't be going back just because it felt a bit rushed and pressured right away without knowing what i was even getting. the nails came out very pretty though so i wasn't mad about that. also always remember to ask for thin nails, if you don't they will come out thick! read more

I honestly don't know where to begin but it pretty much started when I decided to go to from gel manicures to gel tips. I tried my first set of gel tips with them in February because I had an event last min and needed them done the day of, I was placed with "Sue" and she proceeded to do my nails, they came out way too thick but because I was in a rush I just let it go and figured when I come back for fill-in I'll ask for someone else. So now it's time for my fill-in, when I called to make the appointment I asked specifically not to be placed with "Sue" for obvious reasons, I get to the salon @ 4:30p get a pedicure which took 30mins tops, then they sit me down for my fill and I noticed a lot of chatter with the manager and nail tech I was to be placed with but I didn't think much of it. They placed me with "Rissa" she comes over and starts with my nails and then the manager came over started asking me questions about who did my nails last? If my set was done there?? I told her Yes, by "Sue" then she said they didn't have a "Sue" there (which is a lie) but I'm like whatever so at the very beginning I told the tech please do not make them too thick I'd like them to look as natural as possible and then she literally does the exact opposite and starts putting globs of gel on top of my already thick tips. So after the painful curing process (yes it burns) she decides she going to start hand filling this thick gel and in my head I'm like what in the actual f***! Then she finally starts using the filing machine for a while and Stops to hand file again when they were still super Thick so I said something and she says oh don't worry I'm not done yet, then the filing goes on some more but they weren't coming out right so I just finally I just started pointing out what she could do to at least let both of my hands match (some where thick, thin, longer, etc.) I also explained that I didn't mean to be a pain but I spent $70+ on my last set and now $50+ for this which is a lot to spend only to be unhappy, especially since I went out of my way to go there seeing as I live in east Northport and there's plenty of places by me. So then she starts hand filing again but was too rough and cut my finger which hurt and started bleeding, she apologized but I was so annoyed at that point, she also wouldn't let me tend to it which worried me with all the germs going around. I did ask for an evil eye design which the manager said they could do, so she starts to free hand the design and I already knew I wasn't going to like it but I said to myself I'll let her try and just as I suspected it was awful, so I told her I didn't want the design anymore plus it was already 6:30p and then she's starts trying to talk me into it! Saying it was cute etc...in my head I'm think like is she f**** serious?! I'm not paying and extra $20 for something that looks my 6yr old did when he first picked up a crayon. The icing on the cake for me was when I recognized her as the tech from the last appointment, after I specifically asked not to be placed with her bc she clearly doesn't know what she is doing. In the end my nails did come out practically perfect but it was at the expense of my sanity because what was suppose to be a relaxing spa experience turned out to be a nightmare. I literally wanted to run out of there and it was honestly the worst experience I've ever had in a nail salon which I feel bad saying bc I've been there dozens of times and have had a lot of good experiences while getting the regular gel manicures. It took me two weeks to decide if I was going to write this review because I didn't want to be a "Karen" but it's now time for a fill-in and I'm kind of freaked out by the thought of having someone do my nails at this point which says a lot. read more

I have gone to this salon for many years. I am usually very pleased after every visit. Nice staff, good location. I have since moved and drive 30 minutes to come here. Recently the last few times, have been very poor. The cleanliness level has also seriously dropped too. I recently saw Jenny. Very nice but did not do a good job whatsoever, completely cut my fingers up to the point my 1 finger kept bleeding and she put some sort of glue stopper on my finger (not sure of what its called) to try and help the bleeding. Left me with polish and glue all over my hands. Nothing was done when I said something , I was told it will come off when I wash my hands a few times. I called to speak with owner and nothing was done. I spent $75 on a mess... I have photos and attempted to post but it wont let me? Save your money and go elsewhere! read more

DO NOT go here because loyalty and customer service is not valued, only MONEY/PROFIT is. Ive been going to this nail salon for over TEN YEARS and they really disappointed me today. I had a sun nails loyalty card and on my card it said "after 10 VISITS, WE WILL GIVE YOU ONE FREE 10 MIN MASSAGE OR A FREE MANICURE." After getting my manicure done I PRESENTED THE CARD (with 10 full visits) and I was told it is not free only 10 dollars off, they said thats a old card it no longer applies. HOWEVER, the card they gave me said I can get a free manicure and they REFUSED to honor the policy they had. ON TOP OF THAT, the man did not agree to even fill out my NEW LOYALTY CARD AND SAID THE VISIT DOESNT COUNT THIS TIME, next VISIT he will fill it out. How does that even make sense? How sad and ridiculous, Its not about the money for me its about the PRINCIPLE. I still tipped the lady who did my nails which was not a GOOD JOB but the management failed to keep a LOYAL customer happy. I will NEVER come back to this business because of the mistreatment, disregard, and rudeness I experienced. I have been going to Suns for many years and there hasn't ever been a loyalty card for a free manicure.....the card is for a 10 min massage. Must be a different nail salon. This nail salon has always treated me and anyone I bring with professionalism. Are there technicians that I prefer....YES....have I gotten a mediocre service rare but it has happened. I used to come here all the time because my nails always came out very nice but i stopped going around 2 years ago because i noticed my nails would chip or break within a day. I don't know if it's new materials or what but it wasn't quality for the price. I started going to an at home nail tech who truly does quality work. Unfortunately she doesn't do pedicures so I decided to give this place another chance & get a gel pedicure as i was going on vacation. I gave two stars because they did come out looking good but it was such an unsanitary experience. The chairs were all filled with people getting pedicures and each of the people around me wore gloves except my person. He was using the same tools as the person next to me (which is unsanitary to begin with) & when i said something very politely i was ignored immediately so I didn't say more as I didn't want to cause a scene I know how it is working in the service industry & I felt horrible even saying something about it. I would almost prefer for the pedicure to come out looking bad & it be sanitary. I was so beyond disappointed because I paid 56 dollars for a regular color gel pedicure & the fact it was VERY unsanitary grossed me out. It was also extremely unpleasant because of how aggressive he was the girl next to me even gave me a look because I was clenching my hand on the side of the chair & wincing with how badly it hurt, he looked up & saw it and kept going. One of my go-to spots in Huntington for a good mani and pedi. I usually get a powder gel mani and a regular pedi. They have a plethora of colors for manis for regular, gel, and powder. Theres also a good amount of designs that are pretty on point and current. I could be mistaken but I believe theres only one nail artist who does all the designs. The designs are pricey but worth it - check their stuff on insta. I always get a powder gel mani and they always do a great job here - the manicurists always does a great job with the edges and my powder gel stays at least 3 weeks. I've gotten a few of the fancier spa pedis, but def think the the regular pedi is awesome. They're pretty clean with the pedi process - using a liner for the tub and disinfecting after each customer. The place is spacious for a nail salon. It has a very relaxing atmosphere. They also provide refreshments - crackers, grape and tea. The parking lot is large and connects to the Walt Whitman mall and strip mall (where Nordstrom Rack and PetSmart are). I don't understand why the ratings are so low. A few of the reviews seem to be on the questionable side and makes you wonder if some of these people lack common sense. In addition, I've never experienced bad service here - the staff is always professional and accomodating. read more

Im not sure why they dont get a better rating overall. This was my 2nd visit. I got gel manicure with matte nails, coffin shaped. They work fast and Im not disappointed yet. My husband went with me, he got a mani and pedi and he said the pedi was way better than his other place. They scrubbed his foot so long that he MADE me feel his feet when we got home Lol! He also got a massage while waiting for me to finish, and he had no complaints there either. read more

I've been going to Suns for about 10 years now and I will never go anywhere else! Jenny does my nails beautifully each and every time I sit in her chair. She's very sweet, fast and efficient. A typical gel fill in will cost you about 38 dollars which is a little more than most places but I rather pay a little more for quality. This place also has a large assortment of nail colors! More than I've ever seen at a nail salon. The pedicures are also sweet! The leather message chairs are always on point and the service you get is impeccable. I highly recommend!! read more

RACIST! Me and my husband went to this nail salon for out first time. It appears to be an upscale salon HOWEVER, Our biggest disappointment was when we realized we were being racially profiled. The service given to single clients and other couples seemed to be different from ours. They served wine, grapes and crackers to everyone but us. When I asked my nail tech KIKI she acted like she didn't understand me and just simply told me "i dont know" very disappointed with this factor and will never be returning. My first visit for a regular manicure. Jenny sped through the process. She did not soak my nails. As she tended to my cuticles, she clipped the skin on my middle finger so severely, I grimaced in pain and the blood started to flow. She applied antiseptic however it kept on bleeding. She applied antiseptic again, still bleeding. So she then went to put on nail polish and I'm thinking, "oh this will be interesting". She of course could not polish near the still bleeding area. BTW I'm a healthy, 60 yr old NOT taking blood thinners haha. This is how deeply she cut me. Mistakes happen I get it. As I sat under the dryer I stopped the Manager to show her what happened and also showed her my other finger that had polish on the skin. She removed that and walked away. I stopped the mgr again and explained how unhappy I was, how sore my finger is. She said "sorry" and walked away. As I left I stopped her again and said so that's it, just sorry. She shrugged her shoulders. I told her I am amazed at her lack of compassion and will be leaving her salon a bad review and left. I have disputed the charge of $15. It's the principle not amt. I wonder how many others in this bustling salon have been injured like me. I will NEVER return and I do NOT recommend this establishment. read more

I wanted to get my nails done for my prom. I was getting acrylics for the first time. I didn't want anything elaborate. I wanted the 40 dollar option. Not the 80 dollar gel set. They tried to get me to get those. I was having a hard time picking a color from their limited polish options after I did. I changed my mind and the women seemed angry by me asking to change the color before she put it on. And she didn't don't clean up my cuticles. I do not recommend going here ever again. I was regular customer getting my nails done for many years. I decided to take a break over the summer and went back in November of this year. I got to the salon on time but I waited for a technician. She seem to not want to do my nails. I have had problems with her in the past. I sat in the chair and she finally sat down. I showed her a photo of how I wanted my nails done. She said she could do them. It simply was a full set of uv gel french styled coffin shaped nails. I was then told they would be 100.00. they were now 25.00 more than when I was there a few months before. I asked why the increase and she said they were facing out uv gel french manicures full sets. this is a nail salon why are they not doing uv gel french manicures?. I have large nailbeds but this was a lousy job. After putting a nail extension on she cut the side so much that my nails look super fat and the extension nails are to thin. a total disappointment. i will not be going back. i also always get a 10 min massage after my nails. the girl who did the massage hurt me and only worked on one side of my shoulders. the next day i was so sore i had to take Tylenol to stop the pain. so sad that this salon has gone down hill. Will search for a better salon and have the nails removed and redone. read more
