We stopped in at Sun's Teyriyaki en-route to Oregon, based on the 4-star Yelp review and proximity to the freeway. We eat pretty often in Teriyaki joints so know them pretty well. I ordered the "Spicy Chicken" and Anne the "Chicken Yakisoba". Both came with Miso soup and the usual salad (iceberg, with that ubiquitous dressing that all Teriyaki places offer). The salad was a bit better than a lot of such places - carrot slices and poppy seeds as an addition. But still just iceberg lettuce with that standard sweet sauce they all seem to serve. The Yakisoba was really pretty good - nice blend of flavors, perfectly done noodles, and a reasonable amount of chicken. The "Spicy Chicken" though was really kind of odd - the flavor of the chicken was just not quite right - can't explain why. The "spicy" part was as far as I could tell just Sriracha sauce - and no vegetables - just chicken, mushrooms (very few) and onions (tons of them). Not very good - alright but not great. The acoustics of the restaurant are not very good - it's LOUD inside, and it wasn't even crowded. Very hard to carry on a conversation - the staff bang things around, talk loudly, bus tables loudly - not a problem in most places but the acoustics in Sun's are pretty bad - we didn't linger over lunch because the noise level was so high - only pointing this out in case (like me) a loud environment is not something you prefer for a lunch. Overall: 3 stars - I'd come back but would just order different and would be alone so the noise wouldn't put off conversation. Dave

    Chicken&Gyoza

My new all time favorite place for teriyaki. I got chicken and gyoza's which was about $8 but on Tuesday's and Thursday's it's on special so I think I know my new restaurant! The chicken was tender, well seasoned, and didn't have any of the icky bits I always seem to get with chain teriyaki restaurants. The Gyoza's are perfect, crunchy, flavorful, and fresh tasting. For something that is done the same over and over again, Suns Teriyaki just does it a little bit better. Also, we called in an order less than half an hour before close and it was ready in under 10 minutes. Love it!

Stopped here on out way to Seattle, very disappointing. Asked for sauces, we were told the only sauce they offer is on the table. The bottle of Sriracha on the table was so old it was discolored and dark brown. I had the chicken breast, it had no flavor at all. My wife had udom with chicken and veggies plate. She got 4 little pieces of broccoli and 4 little pieces of carrot, noodles were mushy, her food also had very little to no flavor. The floors were very sticky. Lunch was a huge disappointment, will NEVER eat here again.

I go to other Teryaki restaurants in town and decided to try something new. This is a new lost as it's been around. Building is old and noisy but does not smell like an old run down building. Had a chicken Teryaki and a special, which is chicken Teryaki and sweet and sour chicken. Came with a starter salad and miso soup which were both good. Chicken was not hot as it seems it sat while sweet and sour cooked. Did get a lot of food! I will have to try again but this cold chicken was disappointing.

No joke ! orange chicken so bad ! Hot Orange juice poured over chicken GROSS!! I've been here many times and it just keeps getting really bad. He try's to make it to cheap!

We stopped here on our way to Seattle. We ordered chicken teriyaki and yakisoba. The teriyaki lacked flavor. The sauce was a bit too sweet or gingery. Not great but not terrible. The yakisoba mostly tasted like char. Everything was covered in little black bits like it had been cooked on a char-covered grill or the grill was too hot and everything got a little burnt instead of stir fried. Overall, the place was clean and the girl at the front was friendly, but the food was meh.

I felt bad for a minute but then he brought us to a table where the cushions were so blown out that the table was coming almost to our chins. It felt vindictive and I didn't feel bad anymore. Things got even weirder after that. We asked about happy hour and he said you have to be sitting in the bar, we asked to move there. Get to the bar and there's no bartender.......why sit us there? Bizarre. He took our drink order and mocked me for my choices. "OMG, you think whiskey tastes good with sprite? Ew" I honestly didn't know how to respond, I've never had a waiter be so weird. Then instead of making the drinks, he disappeared and didn't come back. Finally had to flag down another waiter who took our order, made the drinks and put in our food order. The food has gone downhill. My spider roll was rolled so poorly I couldn't use chopsticks. Had to use my hands and pray it wouldn't fall apart. Most of it did. Crab tasted old. Prices have also gone completely out of control. There is no happy hour to speak of, 10% off isn't worth anything. And $11 for a Sapporo?!?!?!?!? That costs less than $4 in a store. This restaurant is paying less than that. Absolutely insane. This used to be a favorite spot but we won't be back.

The atmosphere is what you'd expect of a hibachi joint (I don't mind the noise as we shared tables with some nice people) Overall 10/10, would most definitely come back and would most definitely recommend to family and friends. If you ever find yourself in Kelso I most definitely recommend stopping by if you've the time!

Coming from a background where I've worked a sushi restaurant and have had really good quality…read moresushi, I was pretty disappointed with the quality served. Let's start with the positives though. The service here is friendly as my boyfriend and I were greeted and seated promptly with menus. We ended up going with their current special where you get two rolls and an appetizer, my boyfriend got the salmon delight while I got the coconut shrimp roll with the shrimp tempura for our appetizer. The ambiance here is very classy and definitely goes for a more upscale dining experience with paper lanterns, minimalistic decor and the slightly dim lighting. We got salad and miso soup but I have never seen the salad with a thick orange dressing, it was alright but my boyfriend wasn't a fan. The miso soup was okay but I really wished they put tofu or wakame. We got the shrimp tempura first and the shrimp is nice and juicy, however the breading was a bit off. It had a weird texture and taste that I have never tasted on shrimp tempura. Our rolls were dropped off and I noticed that the rolls are huge but the quality was not the great. The rice appeared mushy, the spicy tuna filling for both rolls was meh (also spicy for my boyfriend who can't handle spicy), and my coconut shrimp roll had a different sauce from the coconut shrimp as it was a spicy mayo (orange) compared to the white coconut sauce that was drizzled on the side of coconut shrimp. The coconut shrimp also had the same batter as the shrimp tempura so it was off putting and I was hoping more for the traditional coconut shrimp with coconut flakes on it. I wouldn't mind trying out the peanut butter chicken or their other entrees as I feel like that would have been the better move. Our server didn't really check in on us until the end which was unfortunate as my boyfriend needed water, especially due to how spicy the spicy tuna was.

That being said part of our ordered arrived after our two other meals were almost finished. When it did arrive it was cold! When we alerted the waitress she tried to say it was hot as she placed her hand on top the food! Eww! It was a rice dish it was not even steaming! Then they took it and reheated it and brought it back still not to temp. I refused the plate and asked that it be removed from the bill when some dude came to our table plate in hand arguing with me about the temp and reheat. I was beyond at that point as he insisted we except the plate. I had to leave before I said things I shouldn't. As im packing my meal to go he returns to further push my buttons and insist I take the plate that it arrived hot. Omg why did you reheat it, why want it steaming? As I walk out leaving my husband to finish his meal this guy stops me and says . Excuse me you didnt pay! Omg my husband is still sitting at the table! He will pay you! Give me a break. Pretty sure he still charged us. As my husband was paying this wise guy is still trying to off the plate to him! Experience does play a part in customer satisfaction. This should have been a no brainer. Keep your cold food, remove it from my bill. But no this guy wants a continued altercation. Disappointed.

The worst part about this place is deciding what to have. I had chicken skewers with fried rice and my girlfriend had the fettuccine Alfredo with shrimp. Both were great. I believe it was the owner who served us. He is supper friendly and helpful without being pushy. Because it was my birthday he played Happy Birthday in the background while he sang. He had even made sure to ask my name so he could use it in the song!! He did this after bringing a deep fried Twinkie with ice cream and whipped cream. We will definitely go back!!
